Description
[0001] The invention relates to a brush for use with a brush cutter, comprising an outer cap, an inner cap, a plurality of brush braids and a perforated disc having a plurality of recesses for receiving the brush braids, according to the type defined in more detail in the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] A brush of this type is known from DE 20 2019 104 172 U1. Although this brush is adapted to a special system for connecting power tools, such as angle grinders, to the grinding or brushing tools used therein, the basic design of this brush can also be used with brush cutters.
[0003] Another such brush is known from US 2 062 047 A.
[0004] The problem with using these brushes with brush cutters, however, is that the connecting element on the brush cutter side is designed in such a way that the conventional brushes cannot be optimally accommodated. Furthermore, the design of the conventional brushes prevents them from adapting to the connecting element of the brush cutter.
[0005] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a brush for use with a brush cutter which, on the one hand, has a reliable and high-quality construction and, on the other hand, can be securely connected to the interface of a brush cutter.
[0006] According to the invention, this object is achieved by the features mentioned in claim 1.
[0007] The inventive size of the bore of the perforated disc used to accommodate the brush braids enables the offset of the inner cap to pass through the perforated disc so that the inner cap can come into contact with the outer cap or rest against it.
[0008] This allows the brush, in the area where the connecting element of the brush cutter passes through the bore, to be designed with a very flat construction or a thinner construction than known solutions, ultimately allowing the brush according to the invention to be securely connected to the brush cutter. In this way, the brush according to the invention can be more securely attached to and operated with a brush cutter than with previous solutions.
[0009] A further advantage of the solution according to the invention is its high rigidity, since it is possible according to the invention to connect the inner cap and the outer cap in the area of their flat surfaces, which leads to this increase in rigidity.

Fig. 2only one connecting element 2 is shown, from which a screw or threaded section 2a extends through the brush 1. The connecting element 2 further has a support plate 2b facing away from the threaded section 2a and facing the brush cutter, supported on the outside of the brush 1, a nut 2c screwed onto the threaded section 2a and a pressure plate 2d supported on the inside of the brush 1. The brush 1 is therefore clamped between the support plate 2b and the pressure plate 2d by screwing on the nut 2c and fixed to the brush cutter. When the brush 1 is driven by the brush cutter, it can rotate about a rotation axis 3. There is a positive connection between the screw or threaded section 2a and the pressure plate 2d, for example in the form of external teeth on the screw or threaded section 2a.Threaded section 2a and one of the outer teeth meshing with the inner teeth of the pressure disc 2d. This prevents the nut 2c from accidentally coming loose during operation due to the reaction forces of the driven brush 1.
[0022] The brush 1 comprises an outer cap 4, an inner cap 5, a plurality of brush braids 6, and a perforated disc 7 having a plurality of recesses 8 for receiving the brush braids 6. When the brush braids 6 are received in the recesses 8 of the perforated disc, the perforated disc 7 is also referred to as a braided disc. The outer cap 4 and the inner cap 5 each have a bore 9 that serves to receive the connecting element 2.
[0023] The perforated disc 7 also has a bore 10, the size of which, however, is such that a crank 11 of the inner cap 5 directed toward the outer cap 4 can penetrate the bore 10 of the perforated disc 7. The bore 10 of the perforated disc 7 is therefore significantly larger than the bore 9 of the outer cap 4 and the inner cap 5. The crank 11 of the inner cap 5 creates a recess 5a on the inside of the inner cap 5, in which the pressure disc 2d is received. [0024] The inner cap 5 rests with a flat surface 12 located between the offset 11 and the bore 9 of the inner cap 5 against a flat surface 13 of the outer cap 4 that is aligned with the inner cap 5. The inner cap 5 and the outer cap 4 are connected to each other in the area of their flat surfaces 12 and 13. In the present case, this connection of the inner cap 5 to the outer cap 4 in the area of the flat surfaces 12 and 13 is achieved by welding.
[0025] With this design, the combined height of the outer cap 4 and the inner cap 5 in the area of the bore 9, i.e., the extension of the bore 9 in the longitudinal direction of the rotation axis of the brush 1, can be 3.5 mm or less, since the perforated disc 7, due to the size of the bore 10, is no longer located between the outer cap 4 and the inner cap 5 in this area and therefore contributes nothing to the extension of the bore 9 in the longitudinal direction of the rotation axis of the brush 1. This allows the brush 1 to be securely attached to the connecting element 2 of the brush cutter, while also ensuring that the above-described positive connection between the screw or threaded section 2a and the pressure disc 2d can be established.

Claims
1. A brush (1) for use with a grass trimmer comprising an outer cap (4), an inner cap (5), a plurality of brush bristles (6) and a perforated disc (7) having a plurality of recesses (8) for receiving the brush bristles (6), wherein said inner cap (5) has a bend (11) directed towards said outer cap (4), and wherein said outer cap (4) and said inner cap (5) have respective bores (9) for engaging a connecting element (2) of said grass trimmer, characterized in that the perforated disc (7) has a bore (10) of such a size that the bend (11) of the inner cap (5) engages through the bore (10) of the perforated disc (7), in that the inner cap (5) rests with its flat surface (12) located between the bend (11) and the bore (9) of the inner cap (5) against a flat surface (13) of the outer cap (4) facing the inner cap (5), and in that the inner cap (5) and the outer cap (4) are connected to one another in the region of their flat surfaces (12, 13).
2. Brush according to claim 1, characterized in that a recess (5a) of the inner cap (5) resulting from the bend (11) of the inner cap (5) has such a diameter that a pressure disc (2d) of the grass trimmer can be accommodated therein.
3. Brush according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the inner cap (5) and the outer cap (4) are welded together in the region of their flat surfaces (12, 13).
4. Brush according to claim 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that the perforated disc (7) has between 20 and 40, preferably between 25 and 35, more preferably 30, recesses (8) for receiving the brush bristles (6).
5. Brush according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the perforated disc (7) has a thickness of 2 to 4 mm, preferably 2.5 to 3.5 mm, more preferably 3 mm.
6. Brush according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the recesses (8) of the perforated disc (7) are formed as elongated holes.
7. Brush according to claim 6, characterized in that the elongated holes have a width of 3 to 5 mm, preferably 3.5 to 4.5 mm, more preferably 4 mm.
8. Brush according to claim 6 or 7, characterized in that the elongated holes have a length of 6 to 8 mm, preferably 6.5 to 7.5 mm, more preferably 7 mm.
9. Brush according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the distance between the recesses (8) of the perforated disc (7) in the circumferential direction thereof is 3 to 5 mm, preferably 3.5 to 4.5 mm, more preferably 3.8 to 3.9 mm.
