Description

[0001] The invention relates to a portable lock, particularly for two-wheeled vehicles, comprising a lock body extending along a longitudinal axis and a flexible shackle. A first end of the shackle is permanently attached to the lock body, and a free second end of the shackle can be selectively inserted into or detached from the lock body.

[0002] These portable locks allow for mobile use and can be used, for example, to secure two-wheeled vehicles, especially bicycles or motorcycles, against unauthorized removal. The free end of the shackle can be wrapped around a section of the frame of the vehicle to be secured and around a fixed object such as a bicycle rack or lamppost. After inserting the second end of the shackle into the lock body, the lock forms a loop that securely connects the vehicle to the fixed object. Alternatively, the shackle can be threaded through a section of the frame and one of the wheels of the vehicle in such a way that the wheel is prevented from rotating, thus securing the vehicle against unauthorized removal.

[0003] The shackle of such portable locks can be flexible and therefore not completely rigid, allowing the orientation of different sections of the shackle relative to each other to be adjusted. Because the shackle of such portable locks is flexible, the free end of the shackle can be easily manipulated by the user to comfortably form a loop between the lock body and the shackle, adapted to the specific situation. The permanent attachment of the first end of the shackle allows the lock to always be handled as a single unit, enabling the user to create the loop to secure an object directly by inserting the free end into the lock body, without having to connect a completely detached shackle to the lock body at both ends.

[0004] To achieve the highest possible security with a portable lock featuring a shackle end permanently attached to the lock body, a reliable locking mechanism for the optionally inserted second end of the shackle is essential. However, this presents the challenge that available space in portable locks is limited, hindering a compact design that facilitates convenient transport. Such a compact design is particularly desirable for locks securing bicycles, which are frequently transported between locations. While the shackle must be of a certain length to form a sufficiently large loop, the space occupied by the lock body itself must be minimized. However, the components for locking the shackle must be located within the lock body and protected against forced manipulation, which limits the possibilities for creating a reliable locking mechanism and can also make the assembly of the lock body difficult during the manufacture of the portable lock.

[0005] The locking of the second end of the shackle in the lock body can be achieved by means of a key-based locking mechanism, which may, in particular, include a lock cylinder. In such cases, however, the authorized user must always carry their own key assigned to the portable lock.

[0006] DE 10 2015 112 915 A1 discloses a lock with the features of the preamble of claim 1. US 2008 / 115548 A1 and DE 10 2005 016 339 A1 disclose similar locks.

[0007] It is therefore an object of the invention to create a portable lock, especially for two-wheeled vehicles, in which a reliable locking of the free second end of the shackle in the lock body can be achieved with a compact design, flexible handling with regard to other locks of the user and easy assembly.

[0008] This problem is solved by a portable lock having the features of claim 1.

[0009] The lock body accommodates a replaceable door cylinder, which comprises a cylinder housing, a cylinder core, and a locking cam. The cylinder core is rotatably mounted within the cylinder housing, fixedly connected to the locking cam, and can be rotated between a release position and a locking position by means of an associated key. Furthermore, a bolt element is arranged within the lock body. This bolt element can be moved between a release position, in which the second end of the shackle inserted into the lock body can be released, and a locking position, in which the second end of the shackle inserted into the lock body is locked within the lock body, by rotating the locking cam. The bolt element is actuated by rotating the locking cam.

[0010] Such door cylinders are conventionally used, in particular, for reliably locking doors and offer a high level of security against manipulation attempts or forced entry. These door cylinders can, for example, be designed as profile cylinders, with the cylinder housing having a cylindrical core receiving section that accommodates the cylinder core, as well as a flange section projecting radially from the core receiving section. The door cylinder of the portable lock, which is housed in the lock body, can be designed, in particular, as a profile cylinder according to DIN 18252. Furthermore, the cylinder housing can, for example, have a round or oval shape and be designed as a round or oval cylinder.

[0011] For example, such door cylinders can have pin tumblers, with bores in the cylinder core to receive core pins. In a section of the cylinder housing, which may be oriented eccentrically to the cylinder core, housing pins associated with the core pins and biased towards the cylinder core can be arranged. When the door cylinder is locked, these housing pins engage in the bores of the cylinder core, thus blocking its rotation. However, by inserting a corresponding key, the core pins can be repositioned so that the housing pins are forced out of the bores of the cylinder core, allowing the cylinder core to rotate around its axis. Therefore, the cylinder core can only be turned to unlock the lock using the corresponding key.In addition, such a door cylinder may have drill protection pins made of hardened material, especially steel, to secure the lock against violent break-in attempts by drilling into the cylinder housing.

[0012] By accommodating such a door cylinder, the lock body of the portable lock allows the cylinder to be used to lock the second end of the shackle inserted into the lock body, thus achieving reliable locking and a high level of security against break-in attempts. The rotationally fixed coupling of the locking cam to the cylinder core allows the bolt to be driven by a rotation of the cylinder core, which can only be performed using the corresponding key. Without the corresponding key, the cylinder core cannot be rotated, preventing the bolt from being driven and ensuring that the bolt remains locked, particularly in the locked position.

[0013] By equipping the portable lock with an interchangeable cylinder, convenient and flexible use of the lock can be achieved, in addition to the secure locking of the shackle's second end within the lock body. A key used by a user for other locks with cylinders can optionally also be used to operate the portable lock. Cylinders can generally be used with a variety of locks, such as those on building doors, and several so-called keyed-alike cylinders can be operated with the same key or due to the same code. This allows a user to operate multiple locks, including the portable lock (for example, to secure a bicycle), with a single key, eliminating the need to carry a separate key for the portable lock. The interchangeability of the door cylinder thus makes it possible to adapt the door cylinder or its coding individually and, for example, to a user's front door lock.

[0014] The locking lug of the door cylinder (also called the locking bolt) can project radially beyond the cylinder core and / or at least part of the cylinder housing, relative to the cylinder core's axis of rotation, in order to transmit rotation of the cylinder core to the locking bolt. The locking lug can, for example, be located on a section of the door cylinder opposite a key insertion opening formed on the cylinder core. Furthermore, the locking lug can be connected to the cylinder core in a variable rotational position. In particular, the locking lug can be arranged on the cylinder core such that the locking bolt is in the locked position when the cylinder core is rotated into the locked position, and that the locking bolt is in the unlocked position when the cylinder core is rotated into the unlocked position. The locking element, driven by the locking lug, can act as an intermediate element between the second end of the shackle inserted into the lock body and the locking lug, in order to selectively lock the second end of the shackle or release it from the lock body by rotating the cylinder core.

[0015] For example, the locking element can perform a linear (i.e., rectilinear or translational) or a rotational (i.e., a twisting or pivoting) movement between the release position and the locking position. Generally, by rotating the cylinder core from the release position to the locking position, the locking element can be driven from the release position to the locking position.

[0016] It is possible for the locking lug to directly drive the locking element without any further mechanical components between the locking lug and the locking element. For example, it is possible for the locking lug to mechanically contact the locking element when the cylinder core rotates and directly drive it linearly or rotaryally, for example by pushing and / or pulling. Alternatively, however, further components can also be arranged between the locking lug and the locking element, such as a deflection element or a gear to convert the rotation of the locking lug into the required movement of the locking element between the release position and the locking position.

[0017] For example, the lock body can have an insertion opening for the second end of the shackle, through which the second end can be inserted into an insertion channel extending within the lock body. In the locking position, the bolt element can engage in such an insertion channel to prevent the inserted second end of the shackle from being released from the lock body, while in the release position, the bolt element can be located outside the insertion channel. The bolt element can, in particular, be moved into or out of engagement with the insertion channel by a linear or rotary movement, and the bolt element can be driven in at least one direction by the locking cam of the door cylinder.

[0018] The locking element is biased towards the release position. In some embodiments, the locking element can only be driven directly by the locking lug in the direction of the locking position, while when the cylinder core rotates into the release position, the locking element is released by the locking lug and moved into the release position due to the bias. The bias can be generated, for example, by a linearly tensioned spring or a torsion spring, whereby the locking element can be moved linearly or rotationally between the release and locking positions.

[0019] The term "longitudinal axis of the lock body" is used in connection with the invention for the sake of simplicity. The longitudinal axis of the lock body can be—but need not be—aligned along the direction of the lock body's greatest extent. In the locked state, the first end of the shackle and the second end of the shackle can be located at opposite ends of the lock body with respect to the longitudinal axis. The axis of rotation of the cylinder core can, for example, be oriented perpendicular to or parallel to the longitudinal axis of the lock body. Generally, the free second end of the shackle can be inserted into the lock body along an insertion direction that may be oriented parallel or perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body.Alternatively, the free second end of the shackle can be pivoted into the lock body within a plane that is oriented perpendicular or parallel to the longitudinal axis of the lock body.

[0020] In some embodiments, the shackle of the portable lock can be designed as a rope, particularly a wire rope, or as a chain, the first end of which is permanently attached to the lock body and the second end of which can, for example, have a cleat that can be inserted into the lock body and optionally locked into it. A shackle designed as a rope or chain can allow for flexible loop formation, while also enabling convenient transport by folding the shackle. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the flexible shackle can be designed as a hinged bar shackle and have several pivotally connected hinged bars, the second end of which can be formed by a locking bar that can be optionally locked into or released from the lock body.In such a hinged bar shackle, it can also be provided that the hinge bars, particularly for transport, can be arranged parallel to each other and within a single plane to achieve a compact arrangement of the lock. In such a configuration, the hinge bars can be oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body, whereby the longitudinal axis of the lock body can, however, run within the plane defined by the hinge bars. The lock can accordingly be arranged as a flat and compact package, whereby the longitudinal axis, and thus the direction of the greatest extent of the lock body, can be oriented such that all of the hinge bars can be arranged parallel to each other and between the first end of the shackle and the second end of the shackle.

[0021] Further embodiments can be found in the dependent claims, the description and the drawings.

[0022] In some embodiments, the locking lug can make direct mechanical contact with the bolt element. In some embodiments, the locking lug and / or the bolt element can have at least one drive chamfer, via which the rotation of the locking lug can be directly converted into a movement of the bolt element. Consequently, it may be provided that no further components are arranged between the locking lug and the bolt element, so that a movement of the locking lug can be directly transmitted to the bolt element. This allows for a particularly compact arrangement, and the bolt element can act as a direct, and in particular the only, intermediate element between the locking lug and the second end of the shackle inserted into the lock body, in order to selectively lock the second end in the lock body or release it from the lock body. The bolt element can, in particular, be designed as a single piece or in multiple parts.

[0023] By incorporating a drive ramp into the locking lug and / or the locking element, a smooth conversion of the locking lug's rotation into a movement of the locking element can be achieved. Particularly during linear movement of the locking element between the release and locking positions, such a drive ramp can act as a deflection device to smoothly convert the locking lug's rotational movement into a linear movement of the locking element. Such a drive ramp can also act as a reduction device to convert a rotational movement of the locking lug over a relatively large angular range into a relatively small stroke of the locking element.

[0024] In some embodiments, the locking lug can project radially from the cylinder core with respect to the axis of rotation. This can, in particular, make it possible to reach a locking element arranged radially spaced from the cylinder core by means of the locking lug and / or to drive the locking element radially beyond the cylinder core. Specifically, the locking lug can extend radially beyond the cylinder housing in at least some rotational positions of the cylinder core in order to contact the locking element.

[0025] Alternatively or additionally, in some embodiments, the locking lug can be fixed to the cylinder core in a variable rotational position. In particular, the locking lug can be fixed to the cylinder core such that, in the locking rotational position of the cylinder core, the bolt element driven by the locking lug is in the locked position, and in the release rotational position of the cylinder core, the bolt element is in the release position. The locking lug can, in particular, be fixed to the cylinder core such that, in the locking rotational position of the cylinder core, the locking lug is aligned 180° offset from the cylinder core's axis of rotation by a housing section of the cylinder housing that is eccentric with respect to the cylinder core's axis of rotation, in particular 180° offset from a flange section of a cylinder housing of a door cylinder designed as a profile cylinder. This allows the locking mechanism (door cylinder and bolt element) to be aligned along the longitudinal axis of the lock body in order to achieve a narrow design along the longitudinal axis of the lock body, particularly in embodiments where the locking lug blocks the bolt element in the locking rotation position of the cylinder core to prevent the bolt element from being moved from the locking position to the release position.

[0026] In some embodiments, the locking element can be moved from the release position to the locking position by rotating the cylinder core from the release position to the locking position, whereby the locking lug in the locking position can block the locking element in the locking position, in particular by engaging behind it. The locking element is biased towards the release position, so that the locking element is only driven by the locking lug when the cylinder core is rotated from the release position to the locking position, whereas the locking element can be moved into the release position automatically due to the bias when released by the locking lug.

[0027] By blocking the bolt in the locked position when the cylinder core is in the locked rotation position, the locking lug immediately counteracts any unauthorized movement of the bolt into the release position, thus achieving a particularly secure and reliable locking of the second end of the shackle in the lock body. Forces applied during a break-in attempt, aimed at dynamically or forcibly pushing the bolt back into the release position, can therefore be transferred via the locking lug to the door cylinder, reliably securing the bolt against such attempts. For example, in the locked rotation position of a linearly movable bolt element, the locking lug can be aligned such that it is partially or exactly positioned between the bolt element and the cylinder core, thus blocking movement of the bolt element towards the cylinder core and in the direction of the release position. The linear movement of the bolt element can be oriented radially to the axis of rotation of the cylinder core, so that forces applied to the bolt element in the direction of the release position (e.g., in the case of a forced entry attempt) act radially on the locking lug, and no rotational forces are transmitted to the cylinder core via the locking lug.In the case of a rotatable locking element, the locking lug can block rotation of the locking element towards the release position, so that any forces for rotating the locking element are transferred via the locking lug to the cylinder core and movement of the locking element towards the release position can be reliably blocked, for example by housing pins engaging in the cylinder core.

[0028] In some embodiments, the cylinder housing can have a housing section that is eccentric with respect to the axis of rotation of the cylinder core. The locking lug, in the locked position, can be oriented opposite to this eccentric housing section, particularly axially opposite and / or 180° opposite to the longitudinal axis of the lock body. The eccentric housing section can, in particular, be a locking section for housing tumblers, in which, for example, housing pins are arranged to block the cylinder core against rotation into the release position when the key is removed. The locking lug and the bolt element can also be protected against forced entry by such housing tumblers if the eccentric housing section is arranged between the locking lug and / or the bolt element on the one hand and an access opening in the lock body on the other.

[0029] The cylinder housing can, in particular, have an elongated cross-section, with the locking lug being aligned with the longitudinal shape of the cross-section in the locked rotational position. If the door cylinder is designed as a profile cylinder, the eccentric housing section can correspond to the aforementioned flange section of the cylinder housing of such a profile cylinder. The cylinder housing of a door cylinder designed as an oval cylinder can, for example, have a receiving section in which the cylinder core is received, wherein the cylinder housing of an oval cylinder can extend radially from the receiving section with respect to the axis of rotation of the cylinder core in one direction to form the eccentric housing section.Even with a round cylinder design, the cylinder housing of a door cylinder can—even with an overall circular cross-section—exhibit a maximum radial extent or radius along one direction, starting from a particularly cylindrical receiving section for the cylinder core, and along this direction form the eccentric housing section. This eccentric housing section of the door cylinder housing can serve to accommodate housing tumblers and / or to secure the cylinder housing against rotation around the axis of rotation of the cylinder core after it has been inserted into a lock or door.

[0030] In particular, the locking lug and the eccentric housing section can be arranged along the longitudinal axis of the lock body in the locked rotation position. The eccentric housing section, which can project radially with respect to the axis of rotation of the cylinder core, can also be aligned along the longitudinal axis of the lock body. Furthermore, the eccentric housing section, the locking lug, and the bolt element can be arranged one behind the other along the longitudinal axis of the lock body in the locked rotation position of the cylinder core. Thus, in the locked rotation position of the locking lug, all elements for locking the second end of the shackle can be arranged axially along the longitudinal axis, thereby achieving a particularly narrow design along the longitudinal axis of the lock body. The lock body can thus extend along its longitudinal axis, while its dimensions and the required installation space can be limited in the radial direction with respect to the longitudinal axis. A narrow lock body design can be particularly advantageous in embodiments where the shackle is arranged laterally on or projecting away from the lock body with respect to its longitudinal axis. Furthermore, if the bolt element is directly driven or contacted by the locking lug in such embodiments, a short design can also be achieved along the longitudinal axis of the lock body.

[0031] In some embodiments, the door cylinder can be designed as a profile cylinder whose cylinder housing has a cylindrical core receiving section and a flange section projecting radially from the core receiving section. The flange section can, in particular, form the aforementioned eccentric housing section. The cylinder core can be mounted in the core receiving section. In particular, the profile cylinder can be designed according to DIN 18252.

[0032] Such profile cylinders can be used in numerous locks, particularly door locks, to securely lock the door. By equipping the portable lock with an interchangeable profile cylinder, a high degree of compatibility with other locks owned by the same user, such as a front door lock, can be achieved. This allows the user to operate the portable lock with a key that also works for their other locks, eliminating the need to carry a separate key for the portable lock.

[0033] In some embodiments, the locking element can be linearly movable by rotating the locking lug. In particular, the locking element can be driven linearly along the longitudinal axis of the lock body. This means that the movement of the locking element between the release and locking positions requires, at least essentially, only space in the axial direction, thus minimizing the radial dimensions of the lock body and enabling a narrow design along its longitudinal axis. In such embodiments, the locking element can be guided linearly within the lock body.

[0034] It can be provided that the second end of the shackle can be inserted through an insertion opening in the lock body into an insertion channel, wherein the linearly movable locking element can engage in the insertion channel in the locking position and release the insertion channel in the release position. The second end of the shackle can, in particular, be inserted into the lock body along an insertion direction which can be oriented transversely and, in particular, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body.

[0035] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the locking element can be rotatable or pivotable, for example, around a pivot bearing located between the engagement point of the locking lug and a locking section for the second end of the shackle. The pivot axis of the locking element can, in particular, be oriented parallel to the axis of rotation of the cylinder core. A rotatable or pivotable locking element can also, in particular in the locked position, engage in an insertion channel for the second end of the shackle and release the insertion channel in the release position.

[0036] In some embodiments, the second end of the shackle can be guided in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body for insertion into the lock body. For example, the second end can be inserted linearly along an insertion direction into an insertion opening of the lock body, with the insertion direction being perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body. Alternatively, the second end of the shackle can, for example, be pivoted laterally into the lock body, with the pivoting movement of the second end of the shackle occurring in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body.

[0037] Since the second end of the shackle can be inserted into the lock body in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body, releasing the second end from the lock body by means of the opposite movement may also require a movement perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. However, such a movement of the second end of the shackle can be directed, in particular, perpendicular to a direction of movement of the bolt element from the locked position to the released position, so that no forces can be transmitted to the bolt element in the direction of the release position during an attempt to forcibly release the second end of the shackle from the lock body. For example, the bolt element can perform a linear movement along the longitudinal axis of the lock body from the locked position to the released position or be pivotable about a pivot axis that is oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body.

[0038] In some embodiments, the axis of rotation of the cylinder core can be aligned perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body. The axis of rotation can thus be aligned, in particular, parallel to an insertion direction along which the second end of the shackle can be inserted into the lock body. With such an orientation of the axis of rotation of the cylinder core, the rotation of the locking cam can occur, in particular, in a plane aligned parallel to the longitudinal axis of the lock body, so that the bolt element can be driven translationally along the longitudinal axis of the lock body, for example, by direct mechanical contact of the locking cam. In particular, the rotational movement of the locking cam can be translated into a linear movement of the bolt element without any intermediate components. However, drive chamfers can be formed on the locking lug and / or the bolt element, for example, to achieve such a transmission and smooth operation of the bolt element. Furthermore, with such an orientation of the cylinder core's axis of rotation, a rotation of the locking lug in a plane parallel to the longitudinal axis of the lock body can be directly transferred to the bolt element, in order to, for example, pivot or rotate a rotaryally driven bolt element about a pivot axis aligned parallel to the cylinder core's axis of rotation.

[0039] In some embodiments, a bolt receptacle may be provided at the second end of the shackle, into which the bolt element engages in the locked position. For example, such a bolt receptacle may be designed as a recess (in particular a blind hole or through hole) in the second end of the shackle, into which the bolt element engages in the locked position, thereby preventing the second end of the shackle from being detached from the lock body. Furthermore, such a bolt receptacle may be formed or limited, for example, by a ridge or other projection extending towards the bolt element, which overlaps the bolt element in the locked position.

[0040] In some embodiments, the locking element can be formed in two parts and have a drive transmission element and an engagement element connected to the drive transmission element, wherein the drive transmission element can be driven by the locking lug and wherein the engagement element can engage in a locking receptacle formed at the second end of the shackle in the locking position of the locking element.

[0041] The engagement element can be, in particular, pin-shaped and / or cylindrical and / or made of a hardened material, for example, hardened steel. The bolt receptacle can, in particular, be designed as a recess at the second end of the shackle, into which the engagement element engages in a form-fitting manner when the bolt element is in the locked position. While a two-part design of the bolt element makes it possible, in particular, to manufacture the drive transmission element and the engagement element from different materials and only the engagement element directly intended for locking the second end from a hardened material, it can alternatively also be provided that the bolt element is manufactured as a single piece.

[0042] In some embodiments, the lock body can comprise a lock housing with an insertion section into which the door cylinder is inserted directly or indirectly. The insertion section can directly surround the door cylinder or its cylinder housing at one end face in a form-fitting manner. Alternatively, further elements for receiving the door cylinder, such as an inner housing, can be arranged between the door cylinder and a boundary of the insertion section. In particular, the insertion section can include an opening into which the door cylinder is inserted such that a key insertion opening formed on the cylinder core is accessible from the outside.

[0043] In some embodiments, a spring can be supported on the lock housing, which biases the locking element towards the release position. In particular, the spring can serve to generate the aforementioned bias of the locking element towards the release position. The spring can, for example, be linearly tensioned or designed as a torsion spring. Specifically, the spring can also be tensioned in the release position of the locking element to ensure reliable attainment of the release position when the cylinder core is rotated into the release position.

[0044] In some embodiments, the locking element may have a spring receptacle in which the spring is held. The spring may be supported in the spring receptacle, in particular perpendicular to the direction of movement of the locking element, so that the movement of the locking element into the release position due to the spring's preload can be guided by the engagement of the spring in the spring receptacle. Particularly in the case of a locking element that is linearly movable along the longitudinal axis of the lock body, the spring may protrude from the spring receptacle in order to bear against the lock housing and generate the preload.

[0045] Furthermore, in some embodiments, the spring receptacle can be tubular and, in particular, hollow cylindrical. Within such a tubular spring receptacle, the spring can be supported particularly reliably and, especially in the case of a bolt element movable along the longitudinal axis of the lock body, stabilized in the radial direction to achieve precise interaction with the bolt element and the most clearly aligned preload possible in the direction of the release position. Moreover, the spring can be inserted into the spring receptacle of the bolt element outside the lock housing, so that the spring can be inserted into the lock housing together with the bolt element during assembly. The connection of the two parts can thus be made outside the lock housing and without the constraints of the limited installation space. In such embodiments, the spring can be designed as a coil spring.

[0046] In some embodiments, the lock housing can have a radial bulge on its outer surface, extending from the cylinder core's axis of rotation. The locking lug engages in this bulge during rotation of the cylinder core. Such a radial bulge minimizes the required increase in the lock housing size due to the locking lug's rotation, which can extend radially beyond the cylinder core. This is achieved by enlarging the lock housing only in the area where the locking lug actually engages. The bulge can, in particular, follow the path of the locking lug's movement and be arc-shaped. This allows for the narrowest possible lock body design.

[0047] In some embodiments, the door cylinder can be received within the lock housing in a bracket, the bracket being a guide for the bolt element. The bolt element can be fixed in the guide, particularly laterally or radially with respect to the longitudinal axis of the lock body. The guide can, in particular, guide the bolt element during linear movement along the longitudinal axis of the lock body, or it can stabilize and precisely control the rotation of the bolt element. By using a guide that fixes the bolt element radially, the bolt element can, for example, be connected to the bracket outside the lock housing and inserted into the lock housing together with the bracket, so that the components to be inserted into the lock housing can first be pre-assembled as a unit outside the lock housing. This unit can then be inserted into the lock housing in a single assembly step, without the need to assemble components within the confined space of the lock housing.

[0048] In some embodiments, the guide may include a guide recess into which a guide projection of the locking element can engage. In particular, the guide recess may be groove-shaped. Similarly, it is also possible for the guide formed on the bracket to have a guide projection that engages in a guide recess formed on the locking element. The interaction of a guide recess with a guide projection thus makes it possible to easily guide a translational movement of the locking element, in particular a movement along the longitudinal axis of the lock body.

[0049] Furthermore, the guide can have a stop that limits the movement of the locking element towards the release position. For example, the stop can be formed by an axial limit of the guide recess and, upon reaching the release position, counteract any preload transmitted to the locking element to prevent further movement. Such a stop can also be provided for a rotatably movable locking element to block rotation beyond the release position. Accordingly, the stop can define, in particular, the position or rotational orientation in which the locking element is located in the release position.

[0050] In some embodiments, the lock housing may have a mounting opening through which the bracket can be inserted into the lock housing along the longitudinal axis of the lock body, and the door cylinder can be inserted perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body into the insertion section of the lock housing and the bracket. In particular, after the bracket has been inserted into the lock housing, the door cylinder can be inserted in one step perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body into the insertion section of the lock housing and into the bracket located inside the lock housing. In the assembled state, the lock housing can, in particular, positively enclose an end face of the door cylinder, on which the cylinder core has a key insertion opening for the associated key.Furthermore, the bracket may have a section extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body, which essentially closes the mounting opening in a form-fitting manner when mounted, apart from any manufacturing tolerances.

[0051] A lock housing designed in this way, along with a bracket arranged within the lock housing, allows for particularly easy installation of the lock. For example, the bolt element can first be connected to the bracket and, together with the bracket, inserted into the lock housing through the mounting opening along the longitudinal axis of the lock body as a pre-assembled unit. If necessary, a spring for pre-tensioning the bolt element towards the release position can also be inserted into a spring receptacle on the bolt element before the bracket and bolt element unit is inserted into the lock housing. After the bracket and locking element have been inserted into the lock housing, the door cylinder can be inserted perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body. For this purpose, the insertion section of the lock housing and the bracket may have aligned openings to receive the door cylinder. Thus, the components to be inserted into the lock housing can first be pre-assembled outside the lock housing and then inserted into the lock housing through the mounting opening with a simple linear movement along the longitudinal axis of the lock body. The door cylinder can then also be inserted into the lock housing with a simple linear movement perpendicular to the longitudinal axis to complete the assembly of the components located inside the lock housing.

[0052] In a method for assembling a portable lock of the type disclosed herein, which in particular comprises a lock housing with an insertion section for inserting the door cylinder, the bolt element is inserted into a holder for the door cylinder, the holder and the bolt element connected thereto are inserted into the lock housing through an assembly opening formed on the lock housing along the longitudinal axis of the lock body, and the door cylinder is inserted into the insertion section and the holder in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body. Embodiments of the assembly method may also include all or a selection of steps for assembling the portable lock that are described above or below with respect to the portable lock. In particular, the door cylinder may be designed as a profile cylinder.

[0053] In some embodiments of the portable lock, the cylinder housing may further be provided with an eccentric housing section relative to the axis of rotation of the cylinder core, wherein the eccentric housing section of the cylinder housing points towards the mounting opening and is arranged adjacent to the mounting opening. In particular, the eccentric housing section may correspond to the eccentric housing section already mentioned above. Furthermore, the door cylinder, as explained, may be designed as a profile cylinder whose cylinder housing has a core receiving section and a flange section projecting radially from the core receiving section, wherein the flange section of the cylinder housing of the profile cylinder inserted into the lock housing points towards the mounting opening and may be arranged adjacent to the mounting opening.

[0054] The eccentric housing section can be positioned particularly adjacent to the mounting opening when the door cylinder is inserted into the lock housing. Thus, the eccentric housing section, and especially the locking pins and, if applicable, anti-drill pins contained therein, can block the mounting opening in the installed state to protect the locking mechanism, and especially the bolt element, against unauthorized access or a forced entry attempt through the mounting opening.

[0055] In some embodiments, the locking element can be arranged on the side of the lock body facing away from the mounting opening. The door cylinder can be positioned between the mounting opening and the locking element, viewed along the longitudinal axis of the lock body, to prevent unauthorized access to or manipulation of the locking element through the mounting opening.

[0056] In some embodiments, the lock housing, the bracket, and the door cylinder can each have a mounting opening that is aligned with one another, wherein the bracket and the door cylinder can be detachably fixed in the lock housing by means of a fastening element, in particular a screw, guided through the mounting openings. Such aligned mounting openings can, in particular, make it possible to securely connect the lock housing, the bracket, and the door cylinder in a single assembly step or to replace the door cylinder after it has been removed from the lock housing with another door cylinder, which, for example, can be adapted to the door cylinders of other locks belonging to the same user.In some embodiments, the lock housing and the bracket may also have further mutually aligned mounting openings, in particular a respective mounting opening, in order to additionally fix the bracket in the lock housing.

[0057] In some embodiments, the lock housing may have a mounting section to which the first end of the shackle can be pivotally attached. In particular, the first end of the shackle may be fastened to the mounting section by means of a rivet. Thus, even at the first end, which is permanently attached to the lock body, the shackle can be moved within a predetermined range to conveniently form a loop for securing an object.

[0058] In some embodiments, it may be provided that the second end of the shackle can be inserted into the lock body through an insertion opening in the lock body and that the cylinder core has a key insertion opening, the key insertion opening being located on a side of the lock body opposite the insertion opening.

[0059] With this arrangement, access to the keyhole for inserting the corresponding key is possible without restriction from the shackle. In particular, when the second end of the shackle is inserted into the lock body, it can extend onto the side of the lock body opposite the keyhole.

[0060] In some embodiments, the shackle can be designed as a hinged bar shackle and comprise several pivotally connected hinged bars as well as a locking bar, wherein the locking bar forms the second end of the shackle and can optionally be inserted into the lock body or detached from it. By pivoting the connected hinged bars, a loop can be formed using such a hinged bar shackle and the lock body, for example, to secure a bicycle to a stationary object. The individual hinged bars can be straight. Particularly for transport, the hinged bars of the hinged bar shackle can be aligned parallel to each other, so that the portable lock can be transported as a compact, flat package, for example, in a holder. The portable lock with a hinged shackle can thus be configured like a folding ruler, in which the hinged rods can be folded together and aligned parallel to each other, similar to a folding ruler. The hinged rods can be arranged, in particular, within a plane in which the longitudinal axis of the lock body runs, but can be arranged perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body. The hinged rods can extend along their respective axes, which, in the folding ruler configuration, can be parallel to each other but perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the lock body. The first end of the shackle and the second end of the shackle can, in particular, be arranged at opposite end sections of the lock body with respect to the longitudinal axis of the lock body.

[0061] The invention is explained below purely by way of example using an embodiment with reference to the drawings.

[0063] Fig. 1Figure 11 shows a portable lock 11, which has a lock body 13 extending along a longitudinal axis L and a flexible shackle 15. The shackle 15 is designed as a hinged bar shackle and has several pivotally connected hinge bars 83, with a first end 17 of the shackle 15 being permanently attached to the lock body 13. A second end 19 of the shackle 15, on the other hand, is formed by a locking bar 85 and can be selectively inserted into or detached from the lock body 13 (see also Figure 1). Fig. 3 and 10The second end 19, inserted into the lock body 13, can be selectively locked in the lock body 13 or released from it by turning an associated key 29 about a pivot axis D, wherein the pivot axis D is oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13. While the shackle 15 is designed as a hinged bar shackle in the embodiment described with reference to the figures, it can also be designed, for example, as a rope, in particular a wire rope, or a chain, wherein a clamp that can be selectively inserted into or released from the lock body 13 can form the second end 19.

[0064] To insert the second end 19 into the lock body 13, which is surrounded by a casing 87, an insertion opening 75 is provided on the lock body 13. Through this insertion opening 75, the second end 19 can be inserted into the lock body 13 along an insertion direction E, which is oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13, and optionally locked to secure the second end 19 against unauthorized removal from the lock body 13. Releasing the second end 19 from the lock body 13 also requires a movement perpendicular to the longitudinal axis L of the lock body.

[0065] In the figures, the lock 11 is arranged in a ruler-like configuration, in which the hinge rods 83 are aligned parallel to each other and parallel to the insertion direction E. In this configuration, the hinge rods 83 are thus arranged in a plane defined by the insertion direction E and the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13, with the longitudinal axis L being perpendicular to the hinge rods 83. The lock 11 therefore forms a flat and compact package, so that in this configuration the lock 11 can be transported between different locations, for example, during a journey on a two-wheeler between places where the two-wheeler is to be parked and secured.

[0066] To use the lock 11 to secure an object, and in particular a bicycle, the second end 19 can be detached from the lock body 13 and guided in such a way that the pivotable joint rods 83 of the shackle 15 and the lock body 13 form a closed loop after the second end 19 is subsequently inserted into the lock body 13. By locking the second end 19 within the lock body 13 using the key 29, the second end 19 can be fixed in the lock body 13 against unauthorized removal, so that, for example, the frame of a bicycle can be securely connected to a fixed object such as a bicycle rack by means of the loop formed by the shackle 15 and the lock body 13.

[0067] While such a portable lock 11 with a flexible shackle 15 allows for the convenient formation of a loop to secure an object, it is necessary to reliably lock the free second end 19 of the shackle 15, which is inserted into the lock body 13, in order to achieve a high level of security against break-in attempts. However, due to the typically mobile use of such portable locks 11, it is equally necessary to design the lock 11, and especially the lock body 13, as compactly as possible, so that, for example, transport in a compact arrangement is possible. The correspondingly small available installation space within the lock body 13, however, significantly restricts the possibilities for arranging components for locking the free second end 19, and the assembly of portable locks is also often complex.

[0068] In order to achieve reliable locking of the second end 19 in the lock body 13 with a compact design, a lock housing 43 of the portable lock 11, enclosed by the casing 87, has an insertion section 45 on a top surface 79 into which a door cylinder 21 is inserted (cf. Fig. 2A and 2B The insertion section 45 positively encloses the door cylinder 21 on the upper surface 79 of the lock housing 43, so that the door cylinder 21 is directly inserted into the insertion section 45. Furthermore, the lock housing 43 has a fastening section 73 to which the first end 17 of the shackle 15 is permanently, but pivotably, attached by means of a rivet 89 (see also Fig. 3 ).

[0069] The door cylinder 21 serves to selectively lock or release the second end 19 of the shackle 15 inserted into the lock body 13 and is located in the case of the Figs. 1 to 10The illustrated portable lock 11 is designed as a profile cylinder. The door cylinder 21 has a cylinder housing 23 with a hollow cylindrical core receiving section 25 and a housing section 27 eccentric with respect to the axis of rotation D, which is formed by a flange section of the cylinder housing 23 projecting radially away from the core receiving section 25 (see also Fig. 6 ). Within the core receiving section 25, a cylindrical cylinder core 31 is arranged, which can be rotated about the axis of rotation D by means of the key 29 between a locking rotary position V shown in the figures and a release rotary position F offset from this locking rotary position V (cf. Fig. 6The release position F of the cylinder core 31 can be offset relative to the locking position V by a rotational angle, which, depending on the embodiment, can have a value, for example, in the range of 45° to 180°. A key insertion opening 77 is formed on the cylinder core 31, which is accessible from the top 79 of the lock housing 43 and through which the key 29 can be inserted into the cylinder core 31 in order to rotate the cylinder core 31 (see also Fig. 1 The key insertion opening 77 is thus arranged opposite to a bottom surface 81 of the lock housing 43, on which the insertion opening 75 for the second end 19 is formed, so that the shackle 15 does not impede the insertion of the key 29 and the handling of the lock 11 (see in particular Figs. 1 to 3The door cylinder 21 can be designed as a profile cylinder according to DIN 18252 and can therefore easily be replaced by another commercially available half cylinder according to DIN 18252 (especially with a different key coding 29).

[0070] To lock the door cylinder 21 against unauthorized opening attempts, the door cylinder 21 can, for example, be designed with pin tumblers (not shown). For this purpose, the cylinder core 31 can have several bores in which respective core pins are received. In a locked rotational position V of the cylinder core 31, housing pins arranged in the eccentric housing section 27 and biased towards the cylinder core 31 by means of respective springs can engage in the bores of the cylinder core 31 when the key 29 is not inserted into the key insertion opening 77. This allows the cylinder core 31 to be locked against rotation about the axis of rotation D. By inserting the associated key 29, however, the housing pins can be disengaged from the cylinder core 31, so that the cylinder core 31 can only be rotated by means of the associated key 29.

[0071] While the portable lock 11 shown in the figures has, by way of example, a door cylinder 21 designed as a profile cylinder, the portable lock 11 can alternatively also have, for example, a door cylinder 21a designed as an oval cylinder. Such an oval cylinder is in Fig. 11 The figure illustrates and features a cylinder housing 23a with a receiving section 99 into which a cylinder core 31a with a key insertion opening 77a is inserted. The cylinder housing 23a of the oval cylinder extends from the cylinder core 31a along a radial direction R1 and forms an eccentric housing section 27a in which, for example, housing pins can be arranged as tumblers to prevent rotation of the cylinder core 31a. Furthermore, a door cylinder 21b designed as a round cylinder can be arranged according to Fig. 12intended for use in a portable lock, wherein a cylinder housing 23b of such a round cylinder also has a receiving section 99b for receiving a rotatable cylinder core 31b with a key insertion opening 77b and can extend eccentrically along a direction R2 to an axis of rotation of the cylinder core 31b to form an eccentric housing section 27b.

[0072] In principle, the functions of the portable lock 11 described below with reference to the door cylinder 21 of the portable lock 11, which is designed as a profile cylinder, can also be implemented using the door cylinders 21a and 21b. The installation of the lock 11 can also be carried out analogously to the description below when using the door cylinders 21a and 21b. In particular, oval or round cylinders can also make it possible to adapt the respective door cylinder 21a or 21b used in conjunction with the portable lock 11, or its coding, to other locks belonging to a user, for example, a front door lock, so that the user can operate the portable lock 11 with a key 29 that is already required, without having to carry a separate key for the portable lock 11.

[0073] How Fig. 6As shown, the cylinder core 31 of the door cylinder 21 is non-rotatably connected on one side opposite the key insertion opening 77 to a locking lug 33, which projects radially beyond the cylinder core 31 with respect to the axis of rotation D. Furthermore, a bolt element 35 is arranged inside the lock housing 43, which can be actuated by rotating the locking lug 33 (see Figure 1). Figs. 3 to 6 as well as 9A and 9B). The locking element 35 is movable between a locking position shown in the figures, in which the second end 19 of the shackle 15 inserted into the lock body 13 is locked in the lock body 13, and a release position, in which the second end 19 of the shackle 15 inserted into the lock body 13 can be released from the lock body 13.

[0074] In the illustrated embodiment of the portable lock 11, the locking lug 33 makes direct mechanical contact with the bolt element 35 and has two drive ramps 37. During rotation of the cylinder core 31 from the release position F to the locking position V, the bolt element 35 is forced linearly along the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13 via the associated drive ramp 37 of the locking lug 33. This movement of the bolt element 35 occurs against the force of a spring 47, which is supported on the lock housing 43 and biases the bolt element 35 towards the release position. In the locked position, the locking element 35 engages in an insertion channel 93, into which the second end 19 of the shackle 15 is inserted along the insertion direction E through the insertion opening 75 into the lock body 13 in order to lock the second end 19 against detachment from the lock body 13 (cf. Fig. 3). For this purpose, a bolt receptacle 97 is formed at the second end 19, into which the bolt element 35, which is in the locking position, engages with a positive locking section 41 (cf. Figs. 9A to 10 Furthermore, the insertion channel 93 is limited on a side axially opposite to the locking element 35 by a cover 91, which closes an opening in the lock housing 43. The cover 91 encompasses the second end 19 of the shackle 15 inserted into the lock body 13, in order to counteract, in particular, noise formation due to movements of the second end 19, for example during transport (see Figure 1). Fig. 3 ).

[0075] If the cylinder core 31 is rotated from the locking position V by 180° to the release position F by means of the key 29, so that the locking lug 33 is aligned towards the eccentric housing section 27 and releases the locking element 35, the locking element 35 is forced out of the insertion channel 93 due to the force of the spring 47 and the second end 19 of the shackle 15 can be released from the lock body 13 (see figure). Figs. 3 to 6 and 9AConsequently, the locking element 35 is moved into the release position F along the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13 due to the preload of the spring 47. The spring 47 is held in a tubular or hollow cylindrical spring receptacle 49, which supports the spring 47, particularly radially, with respect to the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13. This allows for a precise preload directed along the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13 by means of the spring 47. Furthermore, the design of the locking element 35 with a spring receptacle 49 makes it possible to connect the spring 47 to the locking element 35 outside the lock housing 43 and to insert it, together with the locking element 35, into the lock housing 43.

[0076] In the illustrated embodiment of the portable lock 11, the bolt element 35 is thus linearly movable along the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13 between the release position and the locking position. Furthermore, the bolt element 35 is biased towards the release position by means of the spring 47. Alternatively, however, the lock 11 can also be designed with a bolt element that pivots between the release position and the locking position, for example, about a pivot axis aligned parallel to the axis of rotation D. A pivotable bolt element can also engage in the insertion channel 93, particularly in the locking position, to lock the inserted second end 19 of the shackle 15, while the bolt element can be positioned outside the insertion channel 93 by moving it into the release position.

[0077] In the illustrated embodiment, the locking element 35 is formed in two parts and comprises a drive transmission section 39 and the aforementioned engagement section 41, wherein the locking lug 33 mechanically contacts the drive transmission section 39 to drive the locking element 35. The engagement section 41 is pin-shaped in order to engage in a substantially positive-locking manner with the bolt receptacle 97 formed at the second end 19 and to lock the second end 19 in the lock body 13 (see in particular the figure). Figs. 9A to 10 The engagement element 41 can in particular be made of a hardened material to achieve a reliable locking of the second end 19.

[0078] However, a one-piece design of the locking element 35 is also possible in principle.

[0079] The locking element 35 and the door cylinder 21 are further accommodated in a holder 55, which is also arranged within the lock housing 43 (see figure). Fig. 3 , 4 and 8 ). As can be seen in particular from the Figures 8 and 9A As can be seen, the bracket 55 forms a guide 57 for the locking element 35, through which the locking element 35 is guided during movement between the release position and the locking position along the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13. In particular, the guide 57 has a groove-shaped guide recess 59 into which a guide projection 61 of the locking element 35 engages. The guide recess 59 forms a stop 65 for the guide projection 61, by which movement of the locking element 35 due to the preload exerted by the spring 47 is limited and the position of the locking element 35 in the release position is defined or fixed.

[0080] Furthermore, the guide 57 includes a guide rail 63 within which the spring receptacle 49 of the locking element 35 is held, so that the locking element 35 is fixed radially with respect to the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13 in the bracket 55. This radial holding of the locking element 35 in the bracket 55 enables, in particular, simple and quick assembly of the lock 11, by allowing the bracket 55 and the locking element 35 to be connected to each other outside the lock housing 43 and inserted together into the lock housing 43.

[0081] In order to be able to insert the components for locking the second end 19 of the shackle 15 into the lock housing 43, the lock housing 43 has a mounting opening 67 extending along the longitudinal axis L (see in particular Fig. 7BTo assemble the locking mechanism during the manufacture of the lock 11, the bolt element 35 can first be connected to the bracket 55 outside the lock housing 43, for which the spring receptacle 49 can be inserted into the guide rail 63. The spring 47 can also be placed into the spring receptacle 49 outside the lock housing 43. The unit thus pre-assembled, consisting of the bracket 55, the bolt element 35, and / or the spring 47, can then be inserted into the lock housing 43 along the longitudinal axis L through the mounting opening 67. As shown, for example, in Fig. 2B As can be seen, the mounting opening 67 is positively closed in the mounted state of the lock 11 by a section of the bracket 55 oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal axis L.

[0082] After the bracket 55, the locking element 35, and the spring 47 have been inserted into the lock housing 43, the door cylinder 21 can be inserted perpendicular to the longitudinal axis L into the insertion section 45 of the lock housing 43 and into the bracket 55. For this purpose, the insertion section 45 and the bracket 55 have openings aligned with each other, the cross-section of which corresponds to the cross-section of the door cylinder 21. When using the door cylinder 21a, which is designed as an oval cylinder (see Figure 5), the opening is located in the lock housing 43. Fig. 11 ) or the door cylinder 21b designed as a round cylinder (see Fig. 12The openings of the insertion section 45 and the bracket 55 can be adapted accordingly. To fix the door cylinder 21 and the bracket 55 within the lock housing 43, the lock housing 43, the bracket 55, and the door cylinder 21 have aligned mounting openings 69, so that the lock housing 43, the bracket 55, and the door cylinder 21 can be connected to each other by means of a fastening element 71, a screw, guided through the mounting openings 69 (see Figure 1). Fig. 2 , 3 , 5 , 6 , 7B and 8 ). In addition, the lock housing 43 and the bracket 55 each have further mutually aligned fastening openings 95 through which the lock housing 43 and the bracket 55 can be additionally connected to each other by means of a further fastening element 71 (see Fig. 2b , 3 , 7B and 8 ).

[0083] When the lock 11 is installed, for example Fig. 2BThe figure shows that the eccentric housing section 27 of the cylinder housing 23 is aligned towards the mounting opening 67 and positioned adjacent to it, so that the mounting opening 67 is blocked and protected by the eccentric housing section 27. This arrangement of the eccentric housing section 27 counteracts any forced entry attempts through the mounting opening 67. Furthermore, a drill protection pin (not shown) can be arranged in the eccentric housing section 27 of the cylinder housing 23 to further increase its resistance to forced entry attempts. The locking element 35 is also positioned opposite the eccentric housing section 27 with respect to the longitudinal axis L, so that the door cylinder 21 is located between the mounting opening 67 and the locking element 35 with respect to the longitudinal axis L.The locking element 35 is thus protected from unauthorized access through the mounting opening 67 by the door cylinder 21.

[0084] In the locking position V of the cylinder core 31 shown in the figures, the locking lug 33 is arranged axially with respect to the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13, opposite to the eccentric housing section 27. As already explained, the bolt element 35 can be driven by a rotation of the locking lug 33 to move from the release position along the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13 into the locking position, in which the engagement element 41 engages in the bolt receptacle 97 of the inserted second end 19 of the shackle 15. By contacting the bolt element 35 in the locking position V (butt contact in direct opposition), the locking lug 33 blocks movement of the bolt element 35 from the locking position towards the release position.Any forces applied during a forced entry attempt to move the locking element 35 from the locked position to the released position can thus be transferred via the locking lug 33 to the door cylinder 21 and the lock housing 43, ensuring secure locking of the second end 19 within the lock body 13. The locking lug 33 can be variably fixed to the cylinder core 31 before the door cylinder 21 is inserted into the lock housing 43, in particular to ensure correct alignment of the locking lug 33 in the locking rotation position V of the cylinder core 31.

[0085] Due to the axial arrangement of the components within the lock housing 43 and the movement of the bolt element 35, which also occurs along the longitudinal axis L of the lock body 13, a particularly compact and narrow design of the lock body 13 can be achieved. However, to allow the rotational movement of the locking cam 13, the lock housing 43 (depending on the rotation angle between the release position F and the locking position V of the cylinder core 31) can have a bulge 53 on an outer surface 51, which is adapted to the path of movement of the locking cam 33. The lock housing 43 is thus only enlarged or widened in the section in which the locking cam 33 actually engages during a rotational movement, so that the most compact possible lock body 13 can be realized.

[0086] The portable lock 11 thus enables reliable locking of the free second end 19 of the flexible shackle 15 within the lock body 13, while maintaining a compact design of the lock body 13. Furthermore, the lock 11 can be mounted easily and quickly by inserting the components to be arranged within the lock housing 43 into the lock housing 43 with two simple linear movements and securing them with common fasteners 71. Additionally, the integration of a door cylinder 21 into the portable lock 11 allows for convenient use. A key used for other door cylinders belonging to the user, for example in building doors, with a uniform code can also be used to operate the portable lock 11, for example to secure a bicycle, and the user therefore does not need to carry a separate key for the portable lock 11.
