Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a crimping head and a crimping installation comprising at least one such crimping head.
[0002] It relates in particular to at least one crimping head for the automated assembly of profiles connecting to form a dihedral, said crimping head comprising two jaws with at least one tool-holder part and a device for driving said jaws to pivot between a spaced-apart position and a close-together position of said tool-holder parts to cut a crimping tab in the wall of the profiles to be connected.
[0003] Patent FR 2 887 792 describes a crimping head that uses two tool-holding jaws to produce the crimping tabs. The tools have teeth capable, during the bringing together of the jaws, of cutting and deforming the material constituting the profile so as to form a tab which cooperates with a bracket placed in the connecting angle of the profiles so as to secure said profiles. Such an operation requires perfect synchronization of the jaws for its success. A mechanism for driving the movement of the jaws, as described in patent FR 2 887 792, is satisfactory but this mechanism is complex and therefore expensive. Document DE 19532564 describes a crimping head in particular for the automated assembly of profiles connecting to form a dihedral, said crimping head comprising two jaws with at least one tool-holder part and a device for driving said jaws in pivoting movement between a spaced-apart position and a close-together position of said tool-holder parts, each jaw having the shape of an arm, each arm having a first arm section and a second arm section, the first section of each arm being equipped with the tool-holder part of the jaw, the device for driving the jaws in pivoting movement comprises, arranged at least partially between said second arm sections, a cam in sliding or rolling bearing contact with the second section of each of the arms and an actuator for driving the cam in movement between two extreme positions, one corresponding to the spaced-apart position of the tool-holder parts, the other to the close-together position of the tool-holder parts, said jaws being,by support contact of the cam with said second sections of the arms, in the state driven in displacement of the cam by said actuator in a first direction, mounted mobile to pivot in the direction of a rapprochement of the tool-holder parts.,
[0004] An aim of the invention is to propose a crimping head of the aforementioned type whose design is simplified while limiting the breakage of the tools of said crimping head.
[0005] For this purpose, the invention relates to a crimping head, in particular for the automated assembly of profiles connecting to form a dihedral, said crimping head comprising two jaws with at least one tool-holder part and a device for driving said jaws in pivoting movement between a spaced-apart position and a close-together position of said tool-holder parts, each jaw having the shape of an arm, the arm of each jaw being an arm pivoting about a pivot axis, the pivot axes of the arms being parallel, each arm having a first arm section and a second arm section, the first arm section and the second arm section of each arm being arranged one on one side, the other on the other side of a plane passing through the pivot axes of said arms, the first section of each arm being equipped with the tool-holder part of the jaw, characterized in that the device for driving the jaws in pivoting movement comprises, arranged at least partially between said second arm sections, a cam in sliding or rolling bearing contact with the second section of each of the arms and an actuator for driving the cam in movement between two extreme positions, one corresponding to the spaced apart position of the tool-holder parts, the other to the close position of the tool-holder parts, said jaws being, by bearing contact of the cam with said second sections of the arms, in the state driven in movement of the cam by said actuator in a first direction, mounted to move pivotally in the direction of bringing the tool-holder parts together, the distance between the support contact zone of the cam with the second section of an arm and the pivot axis of said arm varying in the direction of a reduction of this distance in the driven state in displacement of the cam in said first direction in the direction of a bringing together of the tool-holder parts of the jaws.,
[0006] The presence of a cam active by support contact on each of the jaws allows synchronous operation of said jaws. The design of the cam / second section cooperation of the arms allows a reduction of the lever arm and therefore of the force applied by the tool-holder jaws on the profiles during the approach of the tool-holder parts of the jaws, which limits the risk of breakage. The force decreases during the passage of the tool-holder parts of the jaws from the separated position to the close position, which corresponds to what is desired for carrying out the crimping operation at the profile level.
[0007] According to one embodiment of the invention, the second section of each arm provides, at its part capable of coming into bearing contact with the cam, a so-called cam surface and the cam surfaces of the arms form between them surfaces converging in the direction of the pivot axes of the arms. This geometric arrangement allows a simple path of the cam. The cam surfaces form between them the branches of a V pointing towards the pivot axes of the arms.
[0008] According to one embodiment of the invention, the cam in rolling support contact with the second section of each of the arms is equipped, at each support contact zone, with at least one roller mounted to rotate freely. This design makes it possible to limit the risks of premature wear of the arms or the cam.
[0009] According to one embodiment of the invention, the jaws, in contact with the cam bearing against said second sections of the arms, are, in the state driven in displacement of the cam by said actuator in a second direction opposite to the first direction, mounted to pivot in the direction of separation of the tool-holder parts, and the crimping head comprises a member for returning the jaws to a position separated from said tool-holder parts. This results in a simplification of the design of the crimping head.
[0010] According to one embodiment of the invention, the member for returning the jaws to the position separated from said tool-holding parts is a spring arranged between the second sections of the arms.
[0011] According to one embodiment of the invention, the crimping head is equipped with a centering V protruding between the first sections of the arms. This centering V is configured to match the apex of the angle of the dihedral formed by the profiles to be assembled. This centering V thus prevents, during the crimping operation, an offset of the profiles at the apex of the dihedral formed in the support position of an angle of the frame formed by the profiles on said centering V.
[0012] According to one embodiment of the invention, said crimping head comprises, for the tool-holder part of each jaw, a cutting tool removably coupleable to said tool-holder part. This cutting tool may be formed by one or more crimping teeth.
[0013] According to one embodiment of the invention, the centering V is arranged between the cutting tools in a position close to the tool-holding parts of the jaws.
[0014] According to one embodiment of the invention, the jaws and the device for driving the jaws in pivoting movement are mounted on a common support. This common support can thus be easily installed on a mobile chassis.
[0015] According to one embodiment of the invention, the crimping head comprises at least one clamping device, said clamping device comprising at least one articulated arm carried by said support and a pressing member arranged at the end of the articulated arm, this pressing member being associated with an actuating member, such as a jack, for moving said pressing member between a position separated from and a position close to the support. Such a clamping device allows the profiles to be assembled to be held in position. The pressing member can be positioned at least partially above and in line with the centering V. This pressing member makes it possible to avoid an offset of the profiles in a direction parallel to the edge of the dihedral formed by the profiles.
[0016] The invention also relates to an installation for crimping, in particular frames formed from four profiles, characterized in that said installation comprises four crimping heads conforming to that described above and a control unit configured to control synchronous operation of the four crimping heads. The four crimping heads are mounted on a chassis of the installation. BREVE DESCRIPTION DES DESSINS

[0018] The inventive concept is described more fully below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which embodiments of the inventive concept are shown. Like numerals refer to like elements throughout the drawings. However, this inventive concept may be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as being limited to the embodiments set forth herein. Instead, these embodiments are provided so that this description is complete, and communicates the scope of the inventive concept to those skilled in the art.
[0019] A reference throughout the specification to "an embodiment" means that a particular feature, structure, or characteristic described in connection with an embodiment is included in at least one embodiment of the present invention. Thus, the occurrence of the phrase "in an embodiment" at various locations throughout the specification does not necessarily refer to the same embodiment. Furthermore, the particular features, structures, or characteristics may be combined in any suitable manner in one or more embodiments.
[0020] The crimping head 1, which is the subject of the invention, is used in the example shown to connect two profiles (not shown) together. This crimping head 1 is generally integrated into a crimping installation 20 which comprises four crimping heads 1 as illustrated in figure 5 . This installation 20 allows the crimping of a frame formed of four profiles. In such an installation, the crimping heads 1 are mounted on a frame which can take a large number of shapes.
[0021] In the example shown in the figure 5 , the frame comprises two parallel beams mounted movably in the direction of approaching and separating one from the other. Each beam carries two crimping heads 1 mounted on a beam movable in the direction of approaching and separating one from the other. This arrangement makes it possible to manage the crimping of frames of different dimensions. These frames are generally metal joinery frames, such as door frames, window frames or other. Each frame profile is in the form of a tubular element. Each profile of the frame is assembled at right angles to another profile of the frame by a bracket inserted into the cavities of the profiles to form a dihedral.
[0022] The installation 20 also comprises a control unit 21 configured to control the movements of the moving parts, such as the parts of the chassis and the synchronous operation of the crimping heads 1 which will be described in more detail below.
[0023] This control unit 21 is in the form of an electronic and computer system which comprises, for example, a microprocessor and a working memory. According to a particular aspect, the control unit may be in the form of a programmable automaton.
[0024] In other words, the described functions and steps can be implemented in the form of a computer program or via hardware components (e.g., programmable gate arrays). In particular, the functions and steps performed by the control unit or its modules can be implemented by computer instruction sets or modules implemented in a processor or controller or can be implemented by dedicated electronic components or FPGA or ASIC type components. It is also possible to combine computer parts and electronic parts.
[0025] Where it is specified that the unit or means or modules of said unit are configured to carry out a given operation, this means that the unit comprises computer instructions and the corresponding execution means which enable said operation to be carried out and / or that the unit comprises corresponding electronic components.
[0026] . In the installation 20 for crimping, shown in the figure 5 , the four crimping heads 1 are identical. Only one crimping head 1 will be described below.
[0027] Obviously, crimping installations comprising a single crimping head 1 can also be implemented without departing from the scope of the invention.
[0028] The crimping head 1 for the automated assembly of profiles connected to form a dihedral comprises two jaws 2 each having a tool-holder part 3. This crimping head 1 further comprises a device 4 for driving the jaws 2 in pivoting movement. These jaws 2 are each capable of cutting a tab in the wall of one of the profiles to be connected. These jaws 2 are actuated simultaneously by the device 4 for driving the jaws in pivoting movement between a spaced-apart position and a close-together position of the tool-holder parts 3 of the jaws 2 to ensure the symmetry of movement of the jaws 2.
[0029] In the examples shown, the jaws 2 and the device 4 for driving the jaws 2 in pivoting movement are mounted on a common support 15. This common support 15 has, in the examples shown, the shape of a plate mounted on a part of the chassis of the installation 20. Each jaw 2 has the shape of an arm 5. This arm 5 is an arm pivoting around a pivot axis XX'. The pivot axes XX' of the arms 5 are parallel. The axis XX' of each arm 5 is a so-called vertical axis which extends perpendicular to the support 15 formed here by a plate. Thus, in the positioned state of the installation 20 on any horizontal plane surface, the axes XX' of the arms 5 extend perpendicular to said surface. Each arm 5 has a first arm section 6 and a second arm section 7.For each arm 5, the first arm section 6 and the second arm section 7 are arranged one on one side, the other on the other side of a plane P passing through the pivot axes XX' of said arms 5.
[0030] The first section 6 of each arm 5 is equipped with the tool-holder part 3 of the jaw 2. This tool-holder part 3 is arranged at the end of the arm 5 arranged on the first section 6 side of the arm 5. As a result, in the driven state in pivoting movement of the jaws 2, when the first sections 6 of said jaws 2 and therefore the tool-holder parts 3 tend to move away from each other, the second sections 7 of said jaws 2 tend to move towards each other and vice versa.
[0031] The crimping head 1 comprises, for the tool-holder part 3 of each jaw 2, a cutting tool 14 removably coupled to said tool-holder part 3. This cutting tool 14 here takes the form of a crimping tooth. This tooth, mounted on the tool-holder part 3 of the jaw 2, is intended to penetrate into the constituent material of the profile and to cut a tab in the wall of the profile to be connected. This tab is intended to cooperate with the bracket previously placed inside the angle formed by the two profiles. The cooperation of the bracket with at least two crimping tabs provided in the wall of each profile makes it possible to secure the profiles and maintain them in the crimping position.
[0032] In the case of a crimping head operating in a horizontal plane, i.e. with the axis XX' pivoting each arm 5 vertical, it may be provided to equip a jaw 2 with a series of superimposed teeth, i.e. arranged one above the other. Thus, several tabs can be cut simultaneously with the same movement of the jaw 2.
[0033] In the examples shown, the crimping head 1 is equipped with a centering V 13 projecting between the first sections 6 of the arms 5. This centering V 13 is arranged between the cutting tools 14 in a position close to the tool-holder parts 3 of the jaws 2. This centering V 13 is capable of matching the apex of the angle formed by the profiles and corresponding to the edge of the dihedron. This centering V 13 is mounted in a stationary manner on the support 15 and is therefore independent of the jaws 2 in terms of movement. The frame or the profiles to be crimped are therefore prepositioned at the level of this centering V before crimping, that is to say before driving the jaws 2 into pivoting movement in the direction of bringing the tool-holder parts 3 closer together.
[0034] To enable the jaws 2 to be driven in pivoting movement, the device 4 for driving the jaws 2 in pivoting movement comprises, arranged at least partially between said sections 7 of arms 5, a cam 8 in sliding or rolling bearing contact with the second section 7 of each of the arms 5 and an actuator 9 for driving the cam 8 in movement between two extreme positions, one corresponding to the spaced apart position of the tool-holder parts 3 and therefore of the first arm sections 6, the other to the close position of the tool-holder parts 3 and therefore of the first arm sections 6.This actuator 9 for driving the cam 8 between two extreme positions, one corresponding to the spaced apart position of the tool-holder parts 3, the other to the close position of the tool-holder parts 3, allows the cam 8 to move in at least a first direction D1 for the cam 8 to move from the extreme position of the cam 8 corresponding to the spaced apart position of the tool-holder parts to the extreme position of the cam 8 corresponding to the close position of the tool-holder parts. This actuator 9 also allows, by driving the cam 8 in a second direction D2 opposite to the first direction, the cam 8 to move from the extreme position corresponding to the close position of the tool-holder parts 3 to the extreme position corresponding to the spaced apart position of the tool-holder parts 3. This actuator 9 is therefore an actuator for driving the cam 8 back and forth in movement.Indeed, this actuator 9 is an actuator for driving the cam 8 in a first direction D1 and in a second opposite direction D2. The actuator 9 is here a cylinder whose body is fixed to the support 15 and whose rod is coupled to the cam 8. This actuator 9 is here a double-acting cylinder. This cylinder is therefore configured to drive the cam 8 in a first direction D1 for the passage of the cam 8 from an extreme position corresponding to the position separated from the tool-holder parts 3 to another extreme position corresponding to the close position of the tool-holder parts 3 and in a second direction D2 opposite to the first direction for the return of the cam 8 from this extreme position corresponding to the close position of the tool-holder parts 3 to the extreme position corresponding to the position separated from the tool-holder parts 3.Alternatively, this actuator 9 could have been produced in the form of two single-acting cylinders, one ensuring the movement of the cam in the first direction D1, the other ensuring the movement of the cam in the second direction D2 opposite to D1. As a further variant, the actuator 9 could have been formed by a single single-acting cylinder in cooperation with an elastic return member. This or these cylinders may be hydraulic or pneumatic or electric cylinders. Generally, the working pressure of these cylinders is between 5 and 6 10 5 < .Pa. As a further variant, the actuator could have been a motor.
[0035] The cam 8 is in sliding or rolling bearing contact with the second section 7 of one of the arms 5 and with the second section 7 of the other of the arms 5 to allow, in the driven state in displacement of the cam 8 in said first direction D1, by bearing contact with said second sections 7 of the arms, a pivoting movement of the jaws 2 in the direction of bringing the tool-holder parts 3 closer together. In other words, the jaws 2 are, by bearing contact of the cam 8 with the second sections 7 of the arms, in the driven state in displacement of the cam 8 by said actuator 9 in a first direction D1, for the passage of the cam 8 from one of the extreme positions corresponding to the spaced apart position of the tool-holder parts 3 to the other extreme position corresponding to the close position of the tool-holder parts 3, mounted to pivot in the direction of bringing the tool-holder parts 3 closer together. The contact of the cam 8 with the second section 7 of an arm 5 forms a support contact zone. This movement of the cam 8 in the first direction D1 is illustrated by the passage of the . figure 2 to the figure 3 jaws 2. During its movement in the first direction D1, the actuator 9, which is here a double-acting cylinder, retracts and the cam 8 tends to move closer to the pivot axes XX' of the arms 5. This moving closer to the pivot axes XX' of the arms 5 therefore corresponds to the first direction D1 of movement of the cam 8. During this movement of the cam 8 in this first direction D1, the distance D between the support contact zone of the cam 8 with the second section 7 of an arm 5 and the pivot axis XX' of said arm 5 varies in the direction of a reduction of this distance D. In other words, the support contact zone of the cam 8 with the second section 7 of each arm 5 tends to move closer to the pivot axis XX' of the arms in the driven state of the cam 8 in the first direction D1. This reduction of the distance D is visible between the figures 2 And 3. This reduction in the distance D results in a shorter lever arm for driving the pivoting arm 5 in movement. Consequently, the force produced is maximum at the start of the movement of the cam 8, which is desired for the crimping operation to optimize this crimping operation without risk of breakage. Conversely, for the passage of the jaws 2 from the close position to the spaced position of the tool-holder parts 3 of said jaws 2, the actuator 9 for driving the movement of the cam 8 drives the cam 8 in the second direction in the sense of a separation of the cam from the pivot axes XX' of the arms 5 as illustrated by the passage of the figure 3 to the figure 2 The cam 8 is in bearing contact with said second sections 7 of the arms 5 in the state in which the cam 8 is driven to move by said actuator 9 in the second direction D2 opposite to the first direction D1. The jaws 2 are mounted to pivot in the direction of a separation of the tool-holder parts 3 in the state in which the cam 8 is driven to move by said actuator in the second direction D2.
[0036] For this purpose, the crimping head 1 comprises a member 12 for returning the tool-holder parts 3 of the jaws 2 to a position separated from said tool-holder parts 3, that is to say, to a position close to the second sections 7 of the arms 5. This member 12 for returning the tool-holder parts 3 of the jaws 2 to a position separated from said tool-holder parts 3 is a spring arranged between the second sections 7 of the arms 5. This spring tends to return the second sections 7 of the arms to a position close to each other to come to bear on the cam 8. In the examples shown, the second section 7 of each arm 5 forms, at its part capable of coming into bearing contact with the cam 8, a surface 10 called the cam surface. The cam surfaces 10 form between them, seen in a direction parallel to the axis XX' pivot of the arms 5, a V with the tip of the V oriented towards the axes XX' pivot of the arms 5.
[0037] These cam surfaces 10 therefore form between them surfaces converging in the direction of the pivot axes XX' of the arms.
[0038] The cam 8 in rolling support contact with the second section 7 of each arm 5 is equipped, at each support contact zone, with at least one roller 11 mounted to rotate freely on the rest of the cam 8. In fact, the cam 8 in this case comprises a cam body and rollers 11. Each roller 11 rotates while rolling on the cam surface 10 of the arm with which the roller 11 is in rolling support contact during the movement of the cam 8 along the second section 7 of the arms 5.
[0039] In practice, the movement of the cam 8 in the first direction D1, that is to say in the direction of a movement of the cam 8 towards the pivot axes XX' of the arms 5 therefore causes, by pivoting the arms 5 around the axes XX', a movement of the tool-holder parts 3 of the jaws 2, that is to say a movement of the first sections 6 of the arms 5 towards each other and a movement of the second sections 7 of the arms 5 away from each other, while the movement of the cam 8 in the second direction D2 opposite to the first direction D1, that is to say in the direction of a movement of the cam 8 away from the pivot axes XX' of the arms 5, allows a pivoting movement of the arms 5 around the pivot axes XX' in the direction of a movement of the tool-holder parts 3 of the jaws 2, that is to say in the direction of a movement of the first sections 6 of the arms 5 away from each other and a movement of the second sections 7 of the arms 5 away from each other. arm 5.
[0040] The movement of the cam 8 in the first direction D1 occurs against the action of the return member 12. In fact, this return member 12 tends to return the second arm sections 7 to a position close to each other while the movement of the cam 8 in the first direction D1 tends, by bearing contact of the cam 8 with the second arm sections 7, to cause the second arm sections 7 to move in the direction of separation from each other.
[0041] To complete, the crimping head 1 comprises at least one clamping device 16 to allow the profiles to be assembled to be held in position. Said clamping device 16 comprises at least one articulated arm 17 carried by said support 15 and a pressing member 18 arranged at the end of the articulated arm 17, this pressing member 18 being associated with an actuating member 19, such as a jack, for moving said pressing member 18 between a position separated from and a position close to the support 15. This pressing member 18, such as a movable stud, can be positioned at least partially in line with the inside of the centering V 13. This clamping device 16 makes it possible to ensure that the profiles are clamped between the support 15 and the pressing member 18.
[0042] The progress of a crimping operation of two profiles forming a dihedral will now be described. The operator first places the profiles on the support 15 so as to place the connection zone of the two profiles at the level of the two jaws 2 of the crimping head 1 in the centering V 13. The tool-holder part of each jaw 2 is brought into bearing contact on one of the profiles to be assembled by displacement of the cam 8 in the direction D1 in the direction of a rapprochement of the cam 8 of the pivot axes XX' of the arms 5. The two profiles are therefore arranged between the cutting tools 14. The figure 2 represents the crimping head 1 in this position, the profiles having been omitted. To reach this position, the cam 8 is therefore driven in movement by the actuator 9 for driving the cam 8 in the first direction D1, that is to say in the direction of bringing the cam 8 closer to the pivot axes XX' to allow the second sections of the arms to move apart and, in parallel, the first sections 6 of the arms to move closer together to a position in which the cutting tools 14 of the jaws 2 are in contact with the profiles to be connected at the crimping point of the latter before crimping. The continued movement of the cam 8 in the first direction using the actuator 9 for driving the cam 8 allows the cutting tools 14 to penetrate into the material constituting the profiles and to cut a tab in the wall of each profile to be connected. This tab is intended to cooperate with a bracket placed beforehand inside the angle formed by the two profiles. The cooperation of said bracket with at least two crimping tabs provided in the wall of each profile makes it possible to secure said profiles and maintain them in the crimping position. Once crimping has been carried out, the actuator 9 drives the cam 8 in the second direction to allow the tools 14 to be separated as illustrated in . figure 3 During this crimping operation, the pressing member 18 presses the profiles against the support 15.
[0043] The installation, represented at the figure 5, can be used to make simultaneous connections of four profiles in order to form a frame. Said installation comprises four crimping heads 1 in accordance with the invention. Each of these heads 1 is placed at one of the corners of the frame to be assembled. The four heads are actuated in synchronism in order to cut crimping tabs in each of the profile walls to be assembled according to the process described above.
