Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a built-in dishwasher, in particular a fully integrated built-in dishwasher, with a washing container providing a washing chamber, which has a loading opening, and with a washing chamber door pivotably mounted about a horizontally extending pivot axis for fluid-tight closure of the loading opening, wherein the front side of the washing chamber door opposite the pivot axis is designed in a stepped manner and has a first shoulder facing the loading opening and a second shoulder adjacent to the first shoulder, wherein the second shoulder provides a control panel, wherein the second shoulder projects beyond the first shoulder in the vertical direction of the washing chamber door, so that the surface of the control panel is spaced from the front surface of the first shoulder.
[0002] Dishwashers in general, as well as in the specific embodiment as a built-in dishwasher, including in the design as a fully integrated dishwasher, are well known from the state of the art, which is why there is no need for separate written proof.
[0003] Dishwashers of this type are used to clean wash items and, for this purpose, have a wash tub that provides a wash chamber and holds the items to be cleaned when used as intended. For loading the wash chamber with items, which may be, for example, dishes and / or cutlery, the wash tub provides a loading opening. This can be closed in a fluid-tight manner by means of a wash chamber door, which is preferably pivotable about a horizontal pivot axis.
[0004] In fully integrated built-in dishwashers, the control panel intended for user operation is not located at the front of the dishwasher door, but rather at the front of the dishwasher door, at the top edge of the door. User operation of the dishwasher is therefore only possible when the dishwasher door is open at least a crack.
[0005] When the wash cabinet door is closed, the loading opening of the wash tub is sealed fluid-tight. For this purpose, a wash tub-side seal is provided, against which the wash cabinet door rests when closed. The wash cabinet door has a so-called inner door panel on one side and an outer door panel on the other, with the inner door panel of the wash cabinet door being operatively connected to the wash tub-side seal.
[0006] In the vertical direction of the wash cabinet door, the outer door panel projects beyond the inner door panel, resulting in a stepped edge of the front edge of the wash cabinet door, with a first ledge provided by the inner door panel on the one hand and a ledge provided by the outer door panel on the other. The control panel is provided by the second ledge, i.e., the outer door panel, and, when used as intended with the wash cabinet door closed, is located outside the wash cabinet provided by the wash tub. Dishwashers designed in this way are known, for example, from DE 10 2017 102888 A1, US 2021 / 052130 A1, and US 2010 / 127851 A1.
[0007] As an alternative to a stepped design of the front side of the wash cabinet door opposite the pivot axis, the front side of the wash cabinet door opposite the pivot axis can also be designed to be stepless, as is known, for example, from DE 10 2015 100 054 A1. According to this alternative design, the front side is positioned below the upper edge of the loading opening when the wash cabinet door is closed. Although the prior art designs have proven themselves in everyday practical use, there is a constant effort to improve them.
[0008] The invention is therefore based on the above-described prior art Task The idea is to further develop the design of a dishwasher of this type to provide expanded application possibilities.
[0009] To SolutionTo achieve this object, the invention proposes a built-in dishwasher of the type mentioned at the outset, which is characterized in that the distance between the surface of the control panel and the front surface of the first shoulder is ≥ 30 mm.
[0010] According to the invention, the distance between the surface of the control panel and the front surface of the first ledge is 30 mm or more, for example, 35 mm, 40 mm, 45 mm, or 50 mm. Thus, in contrast to the prior art, the surface of the control panel is offset further upwards relative to the front surface of the first ledge in the vertical direction of the dishwasher door. This facilitates the use of a dishwasher of this type even in installation niches with a larger height, thus advantageously expanding the possible applications for the dishwasher according to the invention. Thus, it is particularly permitted to equip a dishwasher known per se from the prior art with a washing compartment door according to the invention to form a dishwasher according to the invention and thus to make it possible to use the dishwasher known per se from the prior art as intended in connection with a built-in niche that is enlarged in the vertical direction.
[0011] Dishwashers are typically designed for a maximum possible wash cabinet size, given their external dimensions. Due to standard kitchen installation dimensions, the dishwasher width, at least in Europe, must not exceed 45 cm or 60 cm. The appliance depth, however, is typically 57 cm, including a decorative panel on the kitchen side, typically 19 mm thick.
[0012] As has become apparent in recent years, the working height of kitchen units has steadily increased, and so has the height of built-in niches for dishwashers. However, taller built-in niches require longer fronts for the dishwasher cabinet doors in the vertical direction. This ensures that, when the dishwasher door is closed, the front supports the cabinet door and covers the area between the base and the worktop, creating a unified look for the kitchen unit.
[0013] Despite niches that are larger in height, dishwashers with standard-sized wash tubs (with a height of between 805 and 870 mm) are generally used. However, in order to be able to swing a correspondingly larger wash cabinet door front into the base area of the dishwasher as intended in niches that are larger in height, the dishwasher must be set lower in height. This disadvantageously leads to a gap between the dishwasher and the worktop. This gap must be paneled at the front, for which purpose a chipboard or paneling on the kitchen unit side is typically used. However, such paneling is disadvantageous for two reasons in particular. Firstly, when the wash cabinet door is open, the overall impression of the front of the kitchen unit is disrupted, and secondly, the space between the dishwasher and the worktop remains unused.
[0014] The inventive design provides a remedy here. The increased height between the two end shoulders of the wash cabinet door enables the use of a washing container with standard dimensions in combination with a front panel that is larger in the height direction of the wash cabinet door compared to standard dimensions. This inventive measure essentially achieves two advantages. The installation niche, which is larger in the height direction compared to standard dimensions, is completely covered at the front when the wash cabinet door is closed, without raising the height of the dishwasher. This avoids collision problems with the plinth area. At the same time, however, no gap is created between the wash cabinet door and a worktop arranged above the dishwasher when the wash cabinet door is closed, meaning that no paneling on the kitchen furniture side is required. As a result, dishwashers with standard dimensions can also be installed in larger built-in niches. This only requires a dishwasher known per se from the prior art, which is converted or retrofitted to a dishwasher according to the invention using a wash cabinet door according to the invention. In this case, a dishwasher that meets standard dimensions can be optionally equipped with either a standard wash cabinet door or a wash cabinet door according to the invention. The possible uses are thus advantageously expanded, since the design according to the invention makes it possible to equip a dishwasher with a correspondingly designed wash cabinet door depending on the size of the built-in niche in the vertical direction, so that the dishwasher equipped in this way is equally suitable for installation in built-in niches of different heights.
[0015] The design according to the invention also makes it possible to use the free space above the washing container, i.e. the gap between the washing container and the workstation on the dishwasher side, as will be described in more detail below using a particular embodiment of the invention.
[0016] In this context, the invention further proposes a modular system. "Modular system" within the meaning of the invention means that a dishwasher with standard dimensions can be optionally combined with wash cabinet doors of different heights, depending on the size of the installation niche provided at the installation location. It is preferable to specify a grid dimension based on the standard dimensions of a wash cabinet door, for example, a grid dimension in increments of 5 mm or 10 mm. Thus, for example, wash cabinet doors of the type according to the invention can be provided with a distance between the surface of the control panel and the front surface of the first shoulder of 30 mm, 35 mm, 40 mm, 45 mm, or 50 mm.Depending on the size of the installation niche in vertical direction, a suitably designed dishwasher door can then be combined with a dishwasher with standard dimensions and installed in the corresponding installation niche.
[0017] Such a "modular system" is purely optional. The only essential aspect of the invention is that the dishwasher door of the invention has a distance between the surface of the control panel and the front surface of the first shoulder that differs from the standard design and is ≥ 30 mm. This achieves the advantages already explained above. Furthermore, the inventive measure achieves the advantage that the control panel is raised vertically compared to a standard design, which advantageously results in better readability and operation.
[0018] According to a further feature of the invention, the wash cabinet door can be equipped with a decorative panel on its front side facing away from the loading opening, whereby the decorative panel is flush with the control panel when the wash cabinet door is closed. This creates a visually harmonious overall impression. Furthermore, unwanted edges and protrusions are avoided, where dirt and / or contaminants can accumulate.
[0019] According to a further feature of the invention, the first shoulder is provided by an inner panel of the wash cabinet door, and the second shoulder is provided by an outer panel of the wash cabinet door or by a panel body arranged above the outer panel. When the wash cabinet door is closed, the inner panel rests against a seal on the wash cabinet side, thus ensuring a fluid-tight closure of the wash tub when the wash cabinet door is closed. The outer panel of the door supports the control panel on its front side and, even when the wash cabinet door is closed, does not dip into the wash tub, so that the control panel is always protected from the wash liquor circulating in the wash tub during normal use.
[0020] According to a further feature of the invention, the surface of the control panel is arranged above a vertically upper end wall of the washing compartment when the wash cabinet door is closed. Thus, the surface of the control panel protrudes above the washing compartment when the wash cabinet door is closed, thus reliably protecting the control panel from unwanted external influences.
[0021] According to a further feature of the invention, it is provided that the second shoulder has an extension arranged on the loading opening side in the vertical direction of the washing compartment door above the first shoulder.
[0022] This extension provided according to the invention serves to enlarge the second shoulder in the depth direction of the dishwasher, i.e. in the thickness direction of the wash cabinet door. This advantageously creates the possibility of using a control panel that is enlarged in the depth direction of the dishwasher. This makes it easier to operate the dishwasher because more space is available for the individual control elements of the control panel. The control elements can therefore be larger and / or arranged further apart from one another, which is beneficial for improved handling. Furthermore, any indicators or displays can be larger, which is advantageous for better readability. The number of control elements and / or displays can also be increased.
[0023] When the wash cabinet door is closed, the extension provided by the second shoulder is pivoted into the free space between the wash tub and the worktop. The inventive design of the extension thus takes advantage of the unused free space between the wash tub and the worktop. This free space is created by installing a dishwasher whose wash tub has standard dimensions in a vertically enlarged installation niche. As already described, the dishwasher designed according to the invention has a wash cabinet door that is enlarged to match the design of the installation niche, thus creating an otherwise unused free space between the wash tub and the worktop. This free space is now advantageously used by providing an extension for the second shoulder, which is arranged above the first shoulder in the vertical direction of the wash cabinet door. When the dishwasher door is closed, this extension is located in the otherwise unused space between the washing container and the worktop and is advantageously used to provide a control panel that is enlarged in the depth direction of the dishwasher.
[0024] According to a further feature of the invention, the extension is arranged at a distance from the first shoulder, forming a gap in the vertical direction of the wash cabinet door. When the wash cabinet door is closed, this gap serves to accommodate the edge of the upper wall of the wash tub on the wash cabinet door side. When the wash cabinet door is closed, the first shoulder of the wash cabinet door therefore rests against the circumferential seal provided by the wash tub. This ensures, in a manner known in the art, a fluid-tight closure of the loading opening by the wash cabinet door. The extension of the second shoulder formed in the vertical direction on the upper edge of the wash cabinet door lies above the wash tub when the wash cabinet door is closed, i.e. in the gap between the wash tub and the worktop. To ensure this, the extension is designed according to the invention at a distance from the first shoulder, specifically forming a gap. When the wash cabinet door is closed, the edge of the upper end wall of the wash tub on the wash cabinet door side projects into this gap between the extension and the first shoulder. This results in a type of labyrinth-shaped arrangement, according to which, when the wash cabinet door is closed, the first shoulder of the wash cabinet door is arranged inside the wash tub, with the upper edge of the upper end wall of the wash tub, in vertical direction, projecting beyond the first shoulder of the wash cabinet door. The extension of the second shoulder of the wash cabinet door, which is at a distance from the first shoulder of the wash cabinet door in the vertical direction of the wash cabinet door, leaving a gap, is thus arranged above the wash tub in the vertical direction of the dishwasher.
[0025] According to the invention, it is therefore provided that the distance between the extension and the first shoulder is designed to accommodate an edge of the upper end wall of the washing container on the washing compartment door side and delimiting the loading opening when the washing compartment door is closed.
[0026] According to a further feature of the invention, a cover plate arranged in the vertical direction above the washing container is provided, for example in the form of a worktop, wherein, when the washing compartment door is closed, a distance is provided between the underside of the cover plate facing the washing container and the surface of the control panel, which distance is designed to transfer the washing compartment door from an open position to the closed position without collision.
[0027] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the second shoulder of the wash cabinet door has an extension as already described, whereby the second shoulder is designed to accommodate an enlarged control panel. In order to prevent the second shoulder enlarged by the extension from striking the underside of the cover plate arranged above the wash tub when the wash cabinet door is moved from an open position to the closed position, the distance between the underside of the cover plate facing the wash tub and the surface of the control panel is designed accordingly. The enlargement of the second shoulder in the depth direction of the dishwasher by the extension and the gap between the cover plate and the wash tub are therefore coordinated in their geometric dimensions such that the wash cabinet door can be moved into its closed position without collision.
[0028] According to a further feature of the invention, the extension is arranged above a reinforcing strut arranged on the washing container when the washing compartment door is closed.
[0029] To stiffen the upper end wall of the washing compartment, a reinforcing strut is typically provided, which is arranged on the outside of the washing compartment on its upper end wall. This reinforcing strut is overlapped by the extension of the second shoulder when the washing compartment door is closed, i.e. the distance in the vertical direction of the washing compartment door between the first shoulder and the extension is selected such that, when the washing compartment door is closed, the gap formed between them not only accommodates the edge of the upper end wall of the washing compartment on the washing compartment door side, but also the reinforcing strut arranged on the upper end wall of the washing compartment. This results in an overall compact, yet functional structure. The design according to the invention thus creates the possibility for the first time of being able to utilize the free space above the washing compartment by means of an enlarged control panel.
[0030] Further features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description with reference to the figures. Fig. 1 shows a schematic side view of a dishwasher according to the invention; Fig. 2 shows a schematic detailed view of the upper section of a washing compartment door according to the invention according to a first embodiment; Fig. 3 shows a schematic detailed view of the upper section of a washing compartment door according to the invention according to a second embodiment; Fig. 4 shows a schematic detailed view of the upper section of a washing compartment door according to the invention according to a third embodiment; Fig. 5 shows a schematic plan view from above of the washing compartment door according to the invention according to Figure 3 ; Fig. 6 in schematic plan view from above the washing cabinet door according to the invention according to Fig. 4 ; Fig. 7 in schematic detail view the inventive washing compartment door according to Fig. 4in an open position; Fig. 8 shows a schematic detailed view of a washing cabinet door according to the prior art; Fig. 9 shows a schematic detailed view of another washing cabinet door according to the prior art; Fig. 10 shows a schematic detailed view of another washing cabinet door according to the prior art, and Fig. 11 shows a schematic detailed view of another washing cabinet door according to the prior art.
[0031] Fig. 1 shows, in a purely schematic side view, a dishwasher 1 according to the invention in the form of a built-in dishwasher to be installed in a recess of a kitchen unit. This dishwasher has, in a conventional manner, a housing 2 that accommodates a washing container 3. The washing container 3, in turn, provides a washing chamber 4 for accommodating the items to be cleaned.
[0032] The washing chamber 4 is accessible via a loading opening 5. This can be closed fluid-tight by means of a washing chamber door pivotably mounted on the housing 2.
[0033] For supplying items to be cleaned with washing liquid, the dishwasher 1 has a spray device 7. This spray device 7 has a plurality of rotatably arranged spray arms, two spray arms 8 and 9 being shown in the embodiment shown.
[0034] Dishwasher racks are used to hold the dishes to be cleaned. In the illustrated embodiment, a cutlery drawer 10, an upper basket 11, and a lower basket 12 are provided. The upper basket 11 is arranged above the lower basket 12 in the vertical direction 13, and the cutlery drawer 10 is located above the upper basket 11 in the vertical direction 13.
[0035] The washing compartment door 6 has an end face 24 opposite the pivot axis. This end face 24 is formed in a stepped manner in a manner known per se and has a first shoulder 25 facing the loading opening 5 and a second shoulder 26 adjacent to the first shoulder 25, as can be seen, for example, from Fig. 8 which shows an embodiment according to the prior art.
[0036] As can be seen from Fig. 8 As further stated, the second paragraph 26 provides a control panel 19. This control panel 19 typically has a display and serves to enable a user to operate the dishwasher 1 as intended.
[0037] The washing container 3 is equipped with a circumferential seal 22 on the loading opening side. When the washing compartment door 6 is closed, the inner door panel 14 of the washing compartment door 6 rests against this seal 22 with its large side facing the washing compartment 4, thus ensuring a fluid-tight closure of the loading opening 5 when the washing compartment door is closed. This factual connection also arises, for example, from Fig. 8 , where Fig. 8 in a detailed view, the upper end wall 29 of the rinsing chamber 4 in the vertical direction 13 can be seen, on which the upper section of the circumferential seal 22 in the vertical direction is arranged in a fold.
[0038] The second shoulder 26 projects beyond the first shoulder 25 in the vertical direction 31 of the washing cabinet door 6, so that the surface 20 of the control panel 19 is spaced apart from the front surface 27 of the first shoulder 25. This distance X between the surface 20 of the control panel 19 and the front surface 27 of the first shoulder 25 is, according to the prior art, as described, for example, in Fig. 8 As shown, less than 30 mm, typically 20 mm. This provides a height-adjustable connection between the control panel 19 and the rinsing container 4, or a reinforcing strut 23 reinforcing the rinsing container 4 with respect to the upper end wall 29, for the installation niche.
[0039] Fig. 9 shows a further embodiment known from the prior art. According to this embodiment, a dishwasher 1 with a washing compartment door 6 is used, as in Fig. 8However, the installation niche 21 below the worktop 18 is larger in the vertical direction 13 than the installation niche according to Fig. 8 .
[0040] As a consequence, an unused storage space 35 is created between the dishwasher 1 and the worktop 18. In order to conceal this additional storage space 35 at the front, the decorative panel 16 carried by the dishwasher door 6 is designed to be correspondingly larger in the vertical direction 13. However, the distance X between the surface 27 of the first shoulder 25 and the surface 20 of the control panel 19 is, as in the embodiment according to Fig. 8 less than 30 mm.
[0041] Another embodiment according to the prior art shows Fig. 10According to this embodiment, the shoulders 25 and 26 are flush in the vertical direction 13, which advantageously allows the control panel 19 to be made larger in the depth direction of the dishwasher 1. This is achieved by the reinforcing strut 23, in contrast to the embodiments according to the Fig. 8 and 9 is shortened in the depth direction of the dishwasher 1. According to this embodiment, the advantage of an enlarged control panel 19 may thus be achieved, but with the disadvantage of the reinforcement strut 23 being shortened in the depth direction or even offset to the rear, which leads to reduced rigidity of the upper end wall 29 of the washing tub 4 with the consequence that, for example, a secure position of the circumferential seal 22 is not reliably guaranteed.
[0042] Another embodiment according to the prior art shows Fig. 11. Also according to this embodiment, a control panel 19 is provided which is enlarged in the depth direction of the dishwasher 1, with the shoulders 25 and 26 being flush in the vertical direction. In contrast to the embodiment according to Fig. 10 However, the first step 25 is not set further upwards in the height direction 13, but the second step 26 is shifted further downwards in the height direction 13. As a consequence, the surface 20 provided by the control panel 19 is located below the reinforcing strut 23, so that, in contrast to the design according to Fig. 10 cannot be shortened in the depth direction. Fig. 11 The embodiment shown is known from the aforementioned DE 10 2015 100 054 A1.
[0043] The Fig. 2 , 3 and 4each reveal an embodiment according to the invention, with different embodiments being shown in each case. All embodiments have in common that the distance X between the surface 20 of the control panel 19 and the front surface 27 of the first shoulder 25 is ≥ 30 mm. In contrast to the previously explained prior art, this results in a significant increase in the distance X. This takes into account the fact that the installation niche 21 is larger in the vertical direction 13, whereby a dishwasher 1 with standard dimensions is nevertheless used despite the larger installation niche 21.
[0044] To form a dishwasher 1 according to the invention, this is combined with a washing compartment door 6 which, in accordance with the invention, has the distance X which is increased in contrast to the prior art.
[0045] As can be seen from the illustration Fig. 2As can be seen from the drawing, the washing compartment door 6 comprises, in a manner known per se, an inner door panel 14 and an outer door panel 15. The outer door panel 15 carries, on its front side 28 facing away from the loading opening 5, a decorative panel 16 which, in the embodiment shown, is equipped with a handle 17 to be operated by the user. As the illustration according to Fig. 2 As can be seen, the decorative panel 16 extends to the underside of the worktop 18, whereby the built-in niche 21 is completely covered at the front by the decorative panel 16.
[0046] A preferred embodiment of the invention is shown in the Fig. 3 and 4, wherein two alternatives are shown. Both alternatives have in common that the second shoulder 26 has an extension 30 on the loading opening side, arranged in the vertical direction 31 of the dishwasher door 6 above the first shoulder 25. Thanks to this extension 30, it is possible to make the control panel 19 larger in the depth direction of the dishwasher 1, thus utilizing the otherwise unused free space above the dishwasher, i.e., the free space between the dishwasher 1 and the worktop 18.
[0047] The extension 30 is arranged at a distance from the first shoulder 25, forming a gap 32 in the vertical direction 31 of the wash cabinet door 6. This gap 32 serves, in the closed position of the wash cabinet door 6, to accommodate the edge 34 of the upper end wall 29 of the wash tub 4, on the loading opening side. Furthermore, in the closed position of the wash cabinet door 6, the gap 32 accommodates the reinforcing strut 23 reinforcing the upper end wall 29.
[0048] Fig. 5 the design is based on Fig. 3 in a top view, from which illustration it follows that the extension 30 is narrower in the width direction 33 than the first shoulder 25. An alternative embodiment is shown in the Fig. 4 and 6 , wherein according to this alternative embodiment, the extension 30 and the first shoulder 25 are of equal size in the width direction 33.
[0049] Fig. 7Finally, the design according to the Fig. 4 and 6 can be seen, with the washing compartment door 6 in an open position. As can be seen from a summary of the Fig. 4 and 7 When the wash cabinet door 6 is closed, a distance is provided between the underside of the worktop 18 facing the wash tub 4 and the surface 20 of the control panel 19, which is designed to move the wash cabinet door 6 from an open position to the closed position without collision. Despite the extension 13, the wash cabinet door 6 does not abut the control panel 19 against the underside of the worktop 18 when the wash cabinet door 6 is moved into its closed position. The geometric dimensions of both the distance between the worktop 18 and the wash tub 4 and of the extension 30, including the control panel 19 at least partially provided thereby, are coordinated with one another accordingly.
