Description

[0001] The invention relates to a ridge roll made of an air-permeable, strip-like material with a top and bottom surface and two lateral end regions. The bottom surface is designed for contact and attachment to a roof covering, such as roof tiles.

[0002] Ridge rolls are also known as hip rolls. They are used to seal the ridge or hip of a building. They are connected to the roof tile on both sides of the ridge. The ridge tiles are then installed over the ridge band. Their material prevents or minimizes the penetration of moisture, driving rain, or drifting snow into the roof from the outside. At the same time, they allow air to escape from the building's interior and / or a rear ventilation level, allowing for ventilation.

[0003] Especially on pitched roofs, air can flow under the roof tiles, particularly at the eaves, and should be able to escape again at the ridge or hips. The aim of this ventilation is to remove moisture from the roof structure so that harmful condensation does not form in the cooler outer layers of the roof structure. Appropriate ridge tiles or ridge stones serve to prevent rain from entering the roof structure from above and at the same time allow air to escape from the roof structure on both sides of the ridge tiles. A ridge roll is used below the ridge tiles as a cover. Ridge or hip rolls are also called ridge or hip tape. They are sometimes sold in fixed lengths of a few meters or on rolls.

[0004] Such ridge rolls are known, for example, from US 2002 / 362563 A1 or US 2022 / 275645 A1.

[0005] To secure the ridge roll to the substrate, such as roof tiles, it is common practice to apply an adhesive strip to the underside of the ridge roll. This adhesive strip can be used to secure the ridge roll to the roof tiles on both sides of the ridge.

[0006] Such ridge rolls are known, for example, from DE 102007052061 A1, EP 1003945 B1 or EP 1201845 B1.

[0007] However, it is important to ensure that the adhesive used in the adhesive strips or tape has the appropriate adhesion properties. These determine the environmental variables in which the ridge roll can be used. Certain adhesives, for example, only bond sufficiently well for reliable attachment within a temperature range specified for the application.

[0008] The invention is based on the Task The idea is to specify a first role that can be used more flexibly.

[0009] This object is achieved according to the invention by a ridge roll having the features of claim 1.

[0010] Further advantageous embodiments are specified in the dependent claims of the description as well as the figures and their explanation.

[0011] According to claim 1, a generic ridge roll is further developed in that a first adhesive strip with first adhesive properties and a second adhesive strip with second adhesive properties are provided on the underside of each of the two lateral end regions. Each first and second adhesive strip are arranged adjacent to each other. Furthermore, the first adhesive properties differ at least partially from the second adhesive properties.

[0012] A basic idea of the invention can be seen in the provision of two adhesive strips with different adhesive properties in the area of each end region of the band-like ridge roll. This makes it possible, for example, to use a first adhesive that has its optimal application range in a temperature range between 15 °C and 20 °C and a second adhesive that has its optimal application range between 5 °C and 10 °C.

[0013] In other words, the adhesive roll according to the invention is equipped with a total of at least four adhesive areas, two of which are constructed in the same way.

[0014] By providing two different adhesive types on one ridge roll, it is no longer necessary to keep different ridge rolls in stock, each one used depending on current environmental variables, such as the outside temperature. This simplifies storage and eliminates the need to keep different ridge rolls on site.

[0015] Due to the invention, one and the same adhesive roll can be used in different temperature ranges and / or optimized for different substrates.

[0016] Each adhesive strip can have its own protective film to prevent unwanted adhesion. This prevents unwanted sticking before the actual installation.

[0017] In a preferred embodiment, however, a protective film, particularly a shared one, can also be provided, which covers at least two adjacent adhesive strips together. This allows the protective film for two adjacent adhesive strips to be removed during installation without additional effort. This greatly simplifies the actual installation compared to a ridge roll with a single adhesive strip. In principle, however, a protective film can also be applied over the entire ridge roll. This further simplifies installation.

[0018] It is advantageous if the adhesive properties of the adhesive strips differ depending on the application, for different temperature ranges, humidity levels, and / or substrates. Another additional or alternative possibility is for the adhesive effect to be activated by different external factors, such as heat or UV radiation. Roof coverings can, for example, be made of sheet metal or metal, different types of tiles with different glazes or paint finishes. By varying the adhesive properties of the adhesive strips, these different substrates can be taken into account.

[0019] By providing these different areas of application, the flexibility of the ridge roll's possible uses is significantly increased.

[0020] In principle, however, more than two adhesive strips, each with different areas of application or properties, can be provided. It is also conceivable for the adhesive roll to have a total of six adhesive strips with a total of three different properties.

[0021] The adhesive strips should ideally be at least 15 mm wide. Application tests have shown that this width is sufficient to ensure good adhesion to the roof substrate. Wider adhesive strips, for example, at least 30 mm wide, are particularly suitable.

[0022] In general, the adhesive strips can be placed anywhere on the ridge roll. However, it is advantageous if they extend continuously over the entire length of the ridge roll. This allows for simpler production and eliminates the need to ensure that there are enough adhesive strips when cutting the ridge roll to ensure the roll is securely attached to the roof.

[0023] Various adhesives are conceivable for the adhesive strips. These can be made from, for example, butyl adhesives, acrylates, hybrid polymers, synthetic rubber, bituminous adhesives, or combinations thereof. However, other adhesives are also possible, as are combinations of individual adhesives.

[0024] It is also possible to use different adhesives on individual adhesive strips, alternating with each other, to achieve even better applicability.

[0025] The strip-shaped material of the ridge roll can be of any design. For example, it can be made of aluminum with appropriate perforations for air permeability. It can also be a composite material comprising several interconnected, particularly laminated, layers. The strip-shaped material of the ridge roll can also be colored and / or painted accordingly.

[0026] Alternatively or additionally, the strip-like material can also be a composite material composed of several materials, each of which is laterally connected. The precise material combination of the strip-like ridge roll can influence its properties, ensuring that it offers good water impermeability on the surface while still maintaining good air and vapor permeability on the underside.

[0027] The invention is explained below using an exemplary embodiment with a schematic drawing. Herein: Fig. 1 a simplified view of a ridge roll according to the invention.

[0028] In Fig. 1 A section of a ridge roll 1 according to the invention, which can also be referred to as a hip roll, is shown. This essentially has a ribbon-like shape and is intended to be applied to the ridge of a roof in front of the ridge tiles. It is intended to prevent external moisture from penetrating the roof while still allowing air exchange.

[0029] To attach the ridge roll 1 to the roof covering, for example, roof tiles, a first adhesive strip 11 and a second adhesive strip 12 are provided at the two lateral end regions 5 according to the invention. These adhesive strips 11, 12 have different adhesive properties.

[0030] This means that, for example, the adhesive of the adhesive strip 11 is designed for a temperature range between 0°C and 10°C, whereas the adhesive of the adhesive strip 12 has its optimal application in a temperature range of 15°C to 20°C.

[0031] In the embodiment shown here, the two adhesive strips 11 and 12 are arranged directly next to each other. This is not mandatory. It is also possible to provide a space between the two adhesive strips 11 and 12.

[0032] On the right side of the figure, the two adhesive strips 11, 12 are covered with a common protective film 15. This protective film 15 prevents the ridge roll 1 from accidentally sticking during transport. The provision of a single protective film 15 over two adjacent adhesive strips 11, 12 has the advantage that with a single removal of the protective film 15, both adhesive strips 11, 12 are exposed and can thus be easily installed.

[0033] By means of the ridge roll according to the invention, the area of application is expanded so that a ridge roll can be used for different environmental variables, for example different temperatures, air humidity and substrates.
