Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a strip that can be installed in the area of a reveal between a facade and an adjacent component, which may be a window or door frame.
[0002] It is common for plaster cracks to appear in the area of a reveal. These cracks arise due to movement between a facade and an adjacent building component, for example, if no plastering beads or incorrect or damaged profile strips were used on the facade.
[0003] The invention is based on the objective of providing a strip of the aforementioned type which can be used as a renovation strip in the area of a reveal.
[0004] According to the invention, this problem is solved with a strip having the features of claim 1.
[0005] Preferred and advantageous embodiments of the strip according to the invention are the subject of the dependent claims. Using the strip according to the invention is simple because it suffices to adhere the strip with its head to the component (window or door frame) and then, in the area of the plaster cracks, to apply, in particular inject, adhesive or sealant between the strip on the facade and the mounting leg of the strip according to the invention. After applying the adhesive or sealant, the mounting leg is pressed against the facade so that, after the adhesive or sealant has hardened, a bond is formed between the strip according to the invention and the plaster on the facade.
[0006] Movements between the component (window or door frame) and the facade, which lead to cracks in the facade or in the plaster applied to it, can be absorbed because the head of the strip according to the invention comprises two interconnected strips.
[0007] In one embodiment of the invention, the strips of the head section are connected to one another by a flexible band. It has proven advantageous if the band is folded at least once longitudinally, particularly in an S-shape with two folds. In this embodiment of the strip according to the invention, a large degree of movement is possible between the strips of the head section, so that even wider cracks in the plaster are not visible. This band covers any cracks that have formed in the area of the reveal, thus concealing them.
[0008] In one embodiment of the invention, at least one longitudinal rib is provided on the side of the mounting leg facing the facade. This rib improves the hold of the mounting leg and thus the hold of the strip according to the invention on the facade.
[0009] In a further embodiment, the free longitudinal edge of the mounting leg opposite the head section can be bent or angled. This results in a clean and opaque finish of the strip according to the invention at the free edge of the mounting leg.
[0010] Within the scope of the invention, it is preferred that the free end surface of the longitudinal edge of the mounting leg lies in a plane in which the surface of the head section facing the facade also lies. It may be provided that the free end surface of the rib is set back relative to this plane in the direction of the mounting leg.
[0011] A spatially advantageous arrangement results if it is provided that an inclined surface is provided on the strip of the head part located away from the mounting leg, against which the band rests, particularly in the area of a fold in the band.
[0012] Further details and features of the invention will become apparent from the following description of a preferred embodiment with reference to the drawings. These show: Fig. 1 a bar in cross-section, Fig. 2 the application of the bar from Fig. 1 before the protective leg is detached, and Fig. 3 the strip arranged in the area of a reveal after the application of adhesive or sealant and the removal of the protective leg.
[0013] The in Fig. 1 The strip 1 shown according to the invention comprises a mounting leg 2 and a head part 3.
[0014] The head section 3 comprises two strips 4 and 5. An elastic intermediate layer 7, for example double-sided adhesive foam, is provided between strips 4 and 5. An adhesive layer 6 is applied to the outer surface of the head section 3 facing away from the mounting leg 2, i.e., to the outer surface of strip 5 of the head section 3. The head section 3 of the strip 1 can be attached to a component by gluing it in place via the adhesive layer 6.
[0015] In the strip 4, which is arranged directly next to the mounting leg 2, a longitudinal groove 8 is provided on its surface facing away from the mounting leg 2. The purpose of this groove 8 is to ensure that the intermediate layer 7 preferentially detaches from the strip 4 when movements occur between the facade 21 and the floor 23.
[0016] Out of Fig. 1 It is evident that the strips 4 and 5 of the head section 3 are connected to each other by a flexible band 9, which can be designed as a membrane. In the illustrated embodiment, the band 9 is folded twice, resulting in two folds 10. One of the folds 10 rests against an inclined surface 14 of the strip 5.
[0017] In the illustrated embodiment, a protective leg 11 is attached to the strip 4 of the head section 3. A separation line 12 is provided between the strip 4 and the protective leg 11, allowing the protective leg 11 to be detached (torn off) after it has served its purpose. The protective leg 11 has an adhesive layer 13, enabling the application of a protective film (not shown). The protective leg 11 and any protective film attached to it are torn off the head section 3 after the strip 1 has been painted over, if necessary.
[0018] When using the strip 1 according to the invention in the area of a reveal between a facade 21 and a component, for example the frame 23 of a window or door, the head 3 is glued to the frame 23 via its adhesive layer 6. The strip 1 according to the invention is glued in such a way that the lateral surface 19 of the head 3 and the free end surface 18 of the bent longitudinal edge 16 of the mounting leg 2 bear against the plaster 22 of the facade 21.
[0019] On the side of the mounting leg 2 facing the facade 21, three ribs 15 are provided – in this example. The ribs 15 are oriented obliquely away from the head section 3 in relation to the plane of the mounting leg 2.
[0020] The enlarged representation of the final situation according to Fig. 3 shows that the free end surfaces 17 of the ribs 15 of the mounting leg 2 are spaced away from the plaster 22 of the facade 21.
[0021] After the strip 1 according to the invention - as in Fig. 2 shown - in the area of the reveal, adhesive or sealant 20 is applied, in particular injected, into the space between the plaster 22 and the mounting leg 2, and the mounting leg 2 is pressed against the facade 21 ( Fig. 3 The adhesive or sealant 20 is injected. After the adhesive or sealant 20 has hardened (cured / set), the mounting leg 2 and thus the strip 1 is securely fixed in the reveal between the facade 21 and the floor 23.
[0022] Should a crack form in the area of the reveal due to movement between plaster 22 and stock 23, the strips 4 and 5 of the head section 3 can move apart, whereby the band 9, which is folded twice in the exemplary embodiment, unfolds to a greater or lesser extent. This ensures that the strip 1 does not detach and that the crack is covered by the band 9.
[0023] Once all work in the area of the reveal has been completed, the protective leg 11, along with any protective film attached to it, is removed, so that the situation is finally as described. Fig. 3 The mounting leg can be protected by a protective film attached to it (glued on) during the processing of strip 1. This protective film is removed from strip 1 after mounting leg 2 has been glued on. Strip 1 can then be painted. After painting strip 1, the protective leg 11 is removed, e.g., by tearing it off.
[0024] The strip 9, which is positioned between strips 4 and 5 of the head section 3, can be made of a more flexible material than the head section 3 and the mounting leg 2. The strip 9 can be manufactured simultaneously with the head section 3 and the mounting leg 2 in a co-extrusion process, i.e., virtually as a single piece.
[0025] In summary, an embodiment of the invention can be described as follows: A strip 1, which can be installed as a repair strip in the area of a reveal between a facade 21 and a building component, such as the frame 23 of a window or door, comprises a mounting leg 2, which is to be fixed to the facade 21, and a head section 3, which includes two strips 4 and 5 connected to each other by a flexible band 9. The head section 3 can be glued to the building component via an adhesive layer 6. If a crack develops in the plaster 22, it remains covered by the band 9 of the strip 1 because the strips 4 and 5 of the head section 3, connected to each other via the band 9, can move apart.
