Description

[0001] ASSEMBLY FOR FLOATING POWER PRODUCTION SYSTEM

[0002] FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0003] This application relates to the production of energy, typically electrical energy, by means of a floating system, such as a solar power plant or a wave energy generator.

[0004] STATE OF THE ART

[0005] Unlike land-based power generation systems, floating power generation systems are intended to operate while resting on a liquid, such as a body of water or the sea. Therefore, such systems must be able to adapt to movements of the liquid, such as swell, to limit mechanical stresses within the system, while protecting the components of these systems that would be likely to be damaged if they came into contact with the liquid. In addition, some of these systems comprise several components connected to each other, which components must not collide during movements of the system related to stresses exerted by the liquid.Such systems must therefore meet two opposing requirements: on the one hand, they must be sufficiently non-constraining to allow their components to respond to liquid stresses in order to adapt to them and, on the other hand, they must be sufficiently restrictive to prevent the components from colliding as a result of liquid stresses.

[0018] DESCRIPTION OF FIGURES

[0019] Other characteristics, aims and advantages will emerge from the following description, which is purely illustrative and not limiting, and which must be read in conjunction with the attached drawings in which:

[0020] Figure 1 schematically illustrates a floating energy production system.

[0021] Figure 2 schematically illustrates a module of the system shown in Figure 1.

[0022] Figure 3 illustrates part of Figure 1.

[0023] Figure 4 is a flowchart illustrating an implementation of a method for assembling a floating power generation system.

[0024] Throughout the figures, similar elements have identical references.

[0025] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0026] Figure 1 illustrates a floating power generation system 1 in the form of a floating solar power plant.

[0027] Other floating energy production systems are however conceivable, some of which can produce electricity, others not. The floating energy production system 1 can thus comprise: a tidal turbine installation, a wind turbine, a wave energy device, a tidal energy system, a thermal energy recovery plant or osmotic energy from the sea and / or a deep-sea water air conditioning system (SWÀC for "Sea Water Air Conditioning" in English terminology).

[0028] In any case, all these energy production systems are configured to float, that is, to remain on the surface of a liquid, without sinking. The liquid can be water, salty or not.

[0029] The floating energy production system 1 which is illustrated in FIG. 1 comprises a plurality of modules 2 assembled together so as to form a unit which is both mechanically and, where appropriate, electrically integral. This makes it possible to ensure not only a distribution of the mechanical forces within the floating energy production system 1, but also the circulation of the energy produced between the modules 2. In the case of a floating solar power plant, an underwater cable may also be provided to connect it to land, and more precisely to the land-based electricity distribution network.

[0030] Figure 1 shows that the modules 2 can be arranged in rows and columns, so as to form a rectangular-shaped sheet. This is not, however, limiting since any type of assembly of the modules 2 is possible. It should also be noted that the floating energy production system 1 may comprise only one module 2.

[0031] Module

[0032] Figure 2 illustrates module 2 in more detail. Module 2 comprises an energy production device 3, in this case a plurality of solar panels, a support 4 and a plurality of floats 5, in this case seven floats 5, of which only six are visible in Figure 2, the seventh being hidden behind the solar panels. Of course, module 2 may comprise only one solar panel, depending on the quantity of electricity that it is desirable for module 2 to produce.

[0033] Other energy production devices are possible, depending on the energy production method used, for example a wave energy source.

[0034] The support 4 is adapted to support the energy production device 3 and may, in this respect, comprise a sufficiently strong material such as metal, such as steel, and / or a composite material, typically with a reinforced matrix possibly provided with a filler and / or an additive. In addition, the support 4 may have dimensions suitable for accommodating the weight and volume of the energy production device 3. The support 4 may also be adapted to distribute the weight of the energy production device 3 over the different floats 5, typically by taking a symmetrical cross shape with a line of five floats 5 and a float 5 on either side of this line (the support 4 appears as a “T” due to the masking of the seventh float 5 by the solar panels), as visible in FIG. 2.The support 4 also makes it possible to absorb the hydrodynamic forces (hydrostatic pressure and drag forces linked to Archimedes' thrust, swell, currents, etc.) applied to the module 2, but also to raise the energy production device 3 in order, for example, to move it away from fluid projections (e.g., waves) which could damage it, or even allow the proliferation of wild flora. Figure 2 shows that the support 4 can thus comprise a metal lattice provided with beams fixed to each other and provided with means for fixing the energy production device 3 to the support 4. The metal lattice offers the advantage of good distribution of forces while being simple to manufacture and light.

[0035] The number of floats 5 is adapted to the size and weight of the energy production device 3 as well as the support 4. Moreover, the module 2 may comprise only one float 5. In any event, the float 5 is adapted to support the support 4 and the energy production device 3 and configured to ensure the flotation of at least a part of the floating energy production system 1. In this way, once the floating energy production system 1 is arranged on a fluid, the floating energy production system 1 does not sink, or even neither the support 4 nor the energy production device 3 sinks.

[0036] Figure 3 illustrates in more detail the connection between two modules 2.

[0037] Link system

[0038] As visible in Figure 3, a first support 4 of a first module 2 comprises at least a first fixing member 41, a second fixing member 42 and a third fixing member 43, while a second support 4 of a second module 2 comprises at least a fourth fixing member 44, a fifth fixing member 45 and a sixth fixing member 46. Preferably, the first support 4 also comprises a seventh fixing member 47 and an eighth fixing member 48, while the second support 4 also comprises a ninth fixing member 49 and a tenth fixing member 410.

[0039] These fixing members 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410 serve for the cooperation of the supports 4 with the connecting system 6 visible in FIG. 3, which comprises a plurality of connecting members 610, 621, 622, 623, 624. Thanks to this cooperation, the first support 4 is connected to the second support 4 in such a way that the floating energy production system 1 can accommodate the movements of the liquid, typically the successive waves of the swell, for example by reproducing a “carpet” effect, once the floats 5 of the modules 2 are immersed in the liquid. In addition, the connecting system 6 ensures that, whatever the movements of the supports 4 to accommodate the movements of the liquid, the supports 4 do not collide. In other words, the connecting system 6 provides freedom of movement in space to the supports 4 to accommodate movements of the liquid, but only up to a certain point to prevent the supports 4 or any elements mounted on the supports 4, such as the energy production devices 3, from colliding.

[0040] The plurality of connecting members 610, 621, 622, 623, 624 comprises a rigid connecting member 610 and a plurality of flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624. In other words, the rigid connecting member 610 has a stiffness greater than the stiffness of each of the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624, which all preferably have the same stiffness. The stiffness here characterizes the resistance of the connecting members 610, 621, 622, 623, 624 to elastic deformation, regardless of the direction of this deformation.

[0041] In this regard, as visible in Figure 3, the rigid connecting member 610 advantageously comprises a rod or a bar, that is to say a straight element elongated in a given direction, preferably rigid. In any event, whatever the tensile, torsional and / or bending forces applied to the rigid connecting member 610 during operation of the floating energy production system 1, the latter is configured to remain of substantially constant dimensions, and in particular of length, in its preferred direction, substantially constant.

[0042] Furthermore, each of the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624 advantageously comprises:

[0043] - a cable, that is to say a rope which may, for example, be made of vegetable or synthetic fibres or metal wires,

[0044] - a rope, i.e. a link comprising a material made up of strands twisted together, made with various natural textile materials (linen, hemp, cotton, alfa, etc.) or chemical materials (polyamide, polyester, etc.), and / or

[0045] - a chain, that is to say a series of rings of metal, plastic, or any suitable material, engaged in each other (links) or articulated between them (links).

[0046] In any event, the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624 may have their size changed as a function of the applied tensile, torsional and / or bending forces that they undergo, while preferably having a maximum length, i.e. not being elastic. Alternatively, the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624 may be elastic. Thus, the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624 may be wound on themselves to be stored, or even extend between two points in the form of a curved arc if these two points are closer to each other than the maximum length of the flexible connecting member.

[0047] The rigid connecting member 610 comprises a first end 601 fixed to the first fixing member 41 and a second end 602 fixed to the fourth fixing member 44. Furthermore, as visible in FIG. 3, this fixing of the rigid connecting member 610 to each of the supports 4 requires that the first fixing member 41 and the fourth fixing member 44 are connected by a rigid connecting axis 6100. The rigid connecting member 610 ensures that the supports 4 remain at a fixed distance from each other, whatever the movements of the supports 4 elsewhere, in order to prevent all or part of the modules 2, typically the energy production devices 3, from telescoping. In this respect, the dimensions of the rod and the materials that compose it can be chosen according to the expected dynamics of the supports 4, but also the size of the energy production devices 3.

[0048] Figure 3 also illustrates that a first flexible connecting member 621 comprises a third end 603 fixed to the second fixing member 42 and a fourth end 604 fixed to the fifth fixing member 45, which requires that the second fixing member 42 and the fifth fixing member 45 are connected by a first flexible connecting axis 6210. Similarly, a second flexible connecting member 622 comprises a fifth end 605 fixed to the third fixing member 43 and a sixth end 606 fixed to the sixth fixing member 46, which requires that the third fixing member 43 and the sixth fixing member 46 are connected by a second flexible connecting axis 6220.Preferably, a third flexible connecting member 623 comprises a seventh end 607 fixed to the seventh fixing member 47 and an eighth end 608 fixed to the ninth fixing member 49 so that the seventh fixing member 47 and the ninth fixing member 49 are connected by a third flexible connecting axis 6230, while a fourth flexible connecting member 624 comprises a ninth end 609 fixed to the eighth fixing member 48 and a tenth end 600 fixed to the tenth fixing member 410 so that the eighth fixing member 48 and the tenth fixing member 410 are connected by a fourth flexible connecting axis 6240.

[0049] During operation of the floating energy production system 1, the direction of the rigid connection axis 6100 and each of the directions of the flexible connection axes 6210, 6220, 6230, 6240 are, of course, caused to evolve in space, the positions of the fixing members 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410 being able to evolve relative to each other in space depending, among other things, on the dimensioning of the connection members 621, 622, 623, 624 and of the rigid connection member 610, but also on the dynamics of the supports 4.In this regard, the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624 may each be stretched, or not, between their respective fixing members 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410, depending on the positioning of the supports 4 relative to each other, FIG. 3 illustrating the particular configuration where all the flexible connections are stretched between their respective fixing members 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410, which makes it possible to materialize the flexible connecting axes 6210, 6220, 6230, 6240 in this particular configuration.

[0050] However, the connecting system 6 is such that the flexible connecting axes 6210, 6220, 6230, 6240 are not coplanar with each other or with the rigid connecting axis 6100. In other words, the different straight lines which support each of the connecting axes 6100, 6210, 6220, 6230, 6240 are neither intersecting nor parallel to each other. This non-coplanarity of the connecting axes 6100, 6210, 6220, 6230, 6240 influences in particular the dynamics of the supports 4 in operation.

[0051] This dynamic can, for example, be analyzed in the frame of reference of the rigid connecting member 6100. In this frame of reference, any movement of the supports 4 relative to each other which is not a translational movement along the rigid connecting axis 6100, in fact has the advantage of appearing as a rotation around one of the axes of an orthonormal reference frame attached to the rigid connecting member 6100. In all cases, thanks to the connecting system 6, any relative translational movement of the supports along the rigid connecting axis 6100 is prohibited. Such an orthonormal reference frame can be defined, when the supports 4 float at rest on a liquid, with three axes, the first of which is horizontal and corresponds to the rigid connection axis 6100, the second is also horizontal and corresponds to the axis of the plane of the liquid which is orthogonal to the rigid connection axis 6100, while the third is vertical and happens to be orthogonal to the plane of the liquid.Furthermore, this dynamic can be analyzed in a plane of the reference frame, for example in the plane containing the two horizontal axes of the reference frame, which in fact corresponds to a top view of the connection system 6. In this observation plane, at least two flexible connection members 621, 622, 623, 624 appear as the diagonals of a quadrilateral whose vertices correspond to the corresponding fixing members 42, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410.

[0052] Thanks to the connection system 6, only antisymmetric rotations, in the frame of reference attached to the rigid connection member 6100 previously described, are permitted, symmetrical rotations being prohibited, or more precisely limited to the elasticity of the flexible connection members 621, 622, 623, 624. An antisymmetrical rotational movement of the supports 4 is a rotational movement of the supports 4 in an opposite direction around the axis of rotation, while a symmetrical rotational movement of the supports 4 is a rotational movement of the supports 4 in the same direction around the axis of rotation. The symmetrical rotations in the frame of reference attached to the rigid connection member 6100 previously described can be relative translations of the supports 4 in the terrestrial frame of reference or rotations of the supports 4 on themselves in a frame of reference which would be attached to them which are symmetrical. The antisymmetric rotations in the frame of reference attached to the rigid connecting member 6100 previously described correspond to rotations of the supports 4 on themselves in a frame of reference attached to them which are antisymmetric.

[0053] In other words, thanks to the connecting system 6, any quadrilateral formed in space, during the relative movements of the supports 4, by the fixing members 42, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410 of the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624, in the observation plane, can be only a rectangle or a trapezium, but not a parallelogram, except for the elasticity of the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624. In fact, in a parallelogram, a diagonal can be larger than the diagonals of the corresponding rectangle (i.e. the rectangle based on the same parallel lines as the parallelogram), while, in a trapezium, the diagonals are necessarily smaller than the diagonals of the corresponding rectangle. However, apart from the elasticity of the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624, the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624 can allow a spatial approximation of the fixing members 42, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410 to which they are fixed, but prohibit a spatial separation of the fixing members 42, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410 which is greater than the maximum length of the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624, apart from their elasticity. Furthermore, for a given angular position of one of the supports 4, that is to say for a fixed length of one of the diagonals of the trapezium, the other of the supports 4 can move in a given antisymmetric angular range, corresponding to the different possible lengths of the other of the diagonals of the trapezium which are permitted thanks to the flexibility of the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624.

[0054] This dynamic of the supports 4 in operation is useful to avoid any collision of all or part of adjacent modules 2, while allowing the modules 2 to accommodate the movements of the liquid.

[0055] Preferably, as visible in Figure 3, the flexible connecting axes 6210, 6220, 6230, 6240 form a twist surrounding the rigid connecting axis 6100, that is to say a spiral centered on the rigid connecting axis 6100. This arrangement makes it possible in particular to avoid any friction between the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624 and the rigid connecting member 610, which improves the service life of the connecting system 6. The twist is in particular preferable to an arrangement of the connecting system 6 in which the flexible connecting axes 6210, 6220, 6230, 6240 would all be parallel to each other and to the rigid connecting axis 6100.In this arrangement (not shown) in which some of the connecting axes 6100, 6210, 6220, 6230, 6240 would, in fact, be coplanar, the fixing members 42, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410 of each of the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624 would be located opposite each other, that is to say facing each other in the direction of the rigid connecting axis 6100, in the same way that the fixing members 41, 44 of the rigid connecting member 610 are located opposite each other in the arrangement illustrated in FIG. 3.

[0056] With respect to this parallel arrangement of the flexible connecting axes 6210, 6220, 6230, 6240, the twist implies that, for each flexible connecting member 621, 622, 623, 624, the fixing member 42, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410 which makes it possible to fix the flexible connecting member 621, 622, 623, 624 to the second support 4 is offset by a certain angle around the rigid connecting axis 6100, with respect to the fixing member 42, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410 which makes it possible to fix this same flexible connecting member 621, 622, 623, 624 to the first support 4, preferably of the same angle for each flexible connecting member 621, 622, 623, 624, in the same direction around the rigid connecting axis 6100 for all the flexible connecting members

[0057] 621, 622, 623, 624. Thus, the respective fixing members 42, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410 of each of the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624 are no longer opposite each other, that is to say are not opposite each other in the direction of the rigid connecting axis 6100.

[0058] In other words, the twist is formed by a rotation, around the rigid connecting axis 6100, of the geometric location of the ends 600, 604, 606, 608 of the connecting members 621,

[0059] 622, 623, 624 connected to the second support 4, relative to the geometric location of the ends 603, 605, 607, 609 of the connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624 connected to the first support 4.

[0060] Figure 3 further illustrates that the ends 601, 602, 603, 604, 605, 606, 607, 608, 609, 600 of the connecting members 610, 621, 622, 623, 624 can cooperate with their respective fixing members 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410 so as to form a ball joint, that is to say a connection preventing any translational movement of the end relative to the fixing member, but which allows any rotational movement of the end relative to the fixing member. Figure 3 shows that the ball joint connection between the ends 601, 602 of the rigid connecting member 610 with their respective fixing members 41, 44 can be implemented by the cooperation of two loops, one fixed on the rigid connecting member 610, the other pivotally mounted on the support 4.Figure 3 also shows that the ball joint connection between the ends 603, 604, 605, 606, 607, 608, 609, 600 of at least one of the flexible connecting members 621, 622, 623, 624 with their respective fixing members 42, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410 can be implemented by the cooperation of a loop or a hook, typically flexible, fixed on the flexible connecting member with a loop, typically rigid, fixedly mounted on the support 4.

[0061] Assembly process

[0062] Figure 4 illustrates that a method E for mounting two modules 2 can comprise a step E1 of fixing each end 601, 602, 603, 604, 605, 606, 607, 608, 609, 600 of each connecting member 610, 621, 622, 623, 624 to its respective fixing member 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410, and this in such a way that the flexible connecting axes

[0063] 6210, 6220, 6230, 6240 are not coplanar with each other or with the rigid connecting axis 6100. The modules 2 can then be assembled with other modules 2 according to the same method, then the floating energy production system 1 installed on a liquid plane. Alternatively, or in addition, as visible in Figure 4, the different modules 2 can first be installed EO on a liquid plane, then each of the modules 2 can be assembled two by two by fixing each end 601, 602, 603, 604, 605, 606, 607, 608, 609, 600 of each connecting member 610, 621, 622, 623, 624 to its respective fixing member 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 410.
