Description

[0001] The invention relates to a slatted frame according to the preamble of claim 1.

[0002] To recover sufficiently from the stresses of daily life, a person needs several hours of sleep, depending on their age. As a result, a person spends a large part of their life sleeping, for which comfortable beds that support the spine are available.

[0003] A bed typically consists of a slatted frame and a mattress. The slatted frame provides stability to the mattress and the person lying on it, ensuring maximum comfort.

[0004] A special slatted frame is known from AT 506 393 A4, in which the slats are arranged alternately on two levels. The first slats in the first, upper level are positioned above the spaces between the second slats in the second, lower level. When the slatted frame is unloaded, a mattress rests only on the first slats. When the slatted frame is loaded, for example by a person, the first slats are pressed into the spaces between the second slats until the second slats come into contact with the mattress and also support it against the load. This allows the degree of support provided by the slats to be adjusted according to the load.

[0005] A disadvantage of this slatted frame is that it requires a complexly designed frame.

[0006] The object of the invention is therefore to provide a slatted frame of the type mentioned above, with which the aforementioned disadvantages can be avoided, which can be designed as simply as possible and which has a sufficient support effect under different local loads.

[0007] According to the invention, this is achieved by the features of claim 1.

[0008] This offers the advantage of easily creating a slatted frame in which, when the frame is unloaded, the mattress rests only on the first slats. Only when the frame is loaded are the first slats pushed towards the second slats until the mattress also rests on them. Advantageously, a specially designed frame is no longer necessary; instead, a frame with end cap attachments can be used. Such frames are known and readily available. Furthermore, a conventional slatted frame can also be converted into a slatted frame according to the invention simply by replacing the end caps.It has been shown that when constructing a slatted frame with alternating slats on two different levels, it is advantageous to use two differently designed end caps. This allows the end caps to be designed in such a way that they are loaded symmetrically. Due to the alternating arrangement of the first and second end caps, the first and second slats interlock like a zipper when the frame is loaded. The degree of support for the slats can be adjusted to the load and is consistent across the entire lying surface of the frame. This creates a symmetrical load distribution across the entire lying surface of the frame without the formation of a gap between the end caps that would negatively impact the frame's support, as occurs when using only identical end caps.Due to the symmetrical load distribution from head end to foot end of the slatted frame, when installing the slatted frame in a bed frame, it is not necessary to pay attention to which end of the slatted frame is located at the head end and which end is located at the foot end.

[0009] The invention further relates to a bed according to claim 10.

[0010] The dependent claims relate to further advantageous embodiments of the invention.

[0011] The invention is described in more detail with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which only preferred embodiments are shown by way of example. These show: Fig. 1 a longitudinal section of a preferred embodiment of a slatted frame, Fig. 2 a detail of the in Fig. 1 shown slatted frame in longitudinal section, Fig. 3 a preferred embodiment of a first end cap in side view, Fig. 4 the in Fig. 3 preferred embodiment of the first end cap shown in axonometric view, Fig. 5 the in Fig. 3 preferred embodiment of the first end cap shown in top view, Fig. 6 a preferred embodiment of a second end cap in side view, Fig. 7 the in Fig. 6 preferred embodiment of the second end cap shown in axonometric view, Fig. 8 the in Fig. 6 Preferred embodiment of the second end cap shown in top view.

[0012] The Fig. 1 bis 8 Figure 1 shows at least parts of a preferred embodiment of a slatted frame 1 comprising a frame 2 and first and second slats indirectly and alternately attached to the frame 2, wherein the first slats are arranged in a first level 8 and the second slats are arranged in a second level 9, which, viewed in the operating position, is arranged below the first level 8, wherein the first slats are arranged above spaces between the second slats, wherein it is provided that the first and second slats are attached to the frame 2 by means of first end caps 3 and second end caps 4, and that on two sides of the frame 2 the first and second end caps 3, 4 are arranged alternately from a foot end 5 of the frame 2 to a head end 6 of the frame 2.that the first end caps 3 and the second end caps 4 each have at least one receiving opening 7 on the first level 8 for holding one of the first slats and at least one receiving opening 7 on the second level 9 for holding one of the second slats, that each first end cap 3 has one more receiving opening 7 on the first level 8 than on the second level 9, and that each second end cap 4 has one fewer receiving opening 7 on the first level 8 than on the second level 8.

[0013] This offers the advantage that a slatted frame 1 can be easily designed in which, when the slatted frame 1 is unloaded, the mattress rests only on the first slats. Only when the slatted frame 1 is loaded are the first slats pressed towards the second slats until the mattress also rests on the second slats. Advantageously, a specially designed frame 2 is no longer necessary; instead, a frame 2 with fastening devices for end caps 3, 4 can be used. Such frames 2 are known and readily available. Furthermore, a conventional slatted frame 1 can also be converted into a slatted frame 1 according to the invention by replacing the end caps 3, 4.It has been shown that, for the construction of a slatted frame 1 with alternating slats on two different levels 8, 9, it is advantageous to use two differently designed end caps 3, 4, since this makes it possible to design the end caps 3, 4 in such a way that they are loaded symmetrically. Due to the alternating arrangement of the first and second end caps 3, 4, the first and second slats can interlock like a zipper when the slatted frame is loaded, whereby the strength of the support for the slats can be made dependent on the strength of the load and is uniform across the entire lying surface of the slatted frame 1.This allows for a symmetrical load distribution across the entire lying surface of the slatted frame 1, without creating a gap between the end caps 3, 4 that would negatively impact the support function of the slatted frame 1, as would occur if only identical end caps 3, 4 were used. Due to the symmetrical load distribution from the head end 6 to the foot end 5 of the slatted frame 1, it is unnecessary to consider which end of the slatted frame 1 is positioned at the head end 6 and which at the foot end 5 when installing the slatted frame 1 in a bed frame.

[0014] The slatted frame 1 is a device preferably used as a base for a mattress. Preferably, the slatted frame 1 can also be referred to as a bed frame. Preferably, the slatted frame 1 is inserted into a bed frame or bed base, or loosely placed in the bed frame or bed base.

[0015] The slatted frame 1 comprises a frame 2, first and second end caps 3, 4, and first and second slats. The first and second slats are in the Fig. 1 bis 8 not shown.

[0016] The first and second end caps 3, 4 are arranged, and in particular attached, to the two sides of the frame 2. Fig. 1 Figure 1 shows a longitudinal section of a preferred embodiment of the slatted frame 1, wherein the reference numeral 2 refers by way of example to one of the two sides of the frame 2, in particular to an inside of the frame 2.

[0017] Preferably, the frame 2 has two longitudinal sides and two transverse sides, wherein the first and second end caps 3, 4 are arranged alternately and, in particular, predefinably spaced apart from each other, on the longitudinal sides of the frame 2, in particular on two mutually facing longitudinal inner sides 12 of the frame 2. This is exemplified in Fig. 1 As shown, the first and second end caps 3, 4 are arranged alternately from the foot end 5 of the frame 2 to the head end 6 of the frame 2, and are attached, in particular, to the two sides of the frame 2. Preferably, the head end 6 of the frame 2 is arranged on a first transverse side of the two transverse sides, and the foot end 5 of the frame 2 is arranged on a second transverse side of the two transverse sides.

[0018] Preferably the frame 2 is made of wood, in particular of metal or plastic.

[0019] Preferably, the frame 2 is essentially rectangular.

[0020] The first and second slats are attached to the frame 2 by means of the first and second end caps 3, 4. The first and second end caps 3, 4 have receiving openings 7 for the first and second slats. Preferably, the first and second slats, in particular their ends, are inserted into the receiving openings 7 of the first and second end caps 3, 4 to attach the slats to the frame 2. The first and second end caps 3, 4 preferably have chambers for this purpose, and the first and second slats can be arranged or inserted into these chambers through the receiving openings 7 of the first and second end caps 3, 4.

[0021] Preferably the first and / or the second end caps 3, 4 are made of an elastic material, in particular rubber or plastic.

[0022] Preferably, the first and second end caps 3, 4 enclose the slats that are inserted into the receiving openings 7 of the first and second end caps 3, 4.

[0023] Preferably, end pieces of the slats attached to the frame 2 are received by means of the receiving openings 7 of the first and second end caps 3, 4.

[0024] Preferably, the slats are connected to each other exclusively via the end caps 3 and 4. This means that in the area between the end caps 3 and 4, the slats can move freely relative to each other, and in particular, the first slats do not rest on the second slats.

[0025] Preferably, the cross-sectional area of the receiving opening 7 in the first plane 8 corresponds substantially to the cross-sectional area of the first slat.

[0026] Preferably, the cross-sectional area of the receiving opening 7 in the second plane 9 corresponds substantially to the cross-sectional area of the second slat.

[0027] Each first end cap 3 and each second end cap 4 has at least one receiving opening 7 on the first and on the second level 8, 9.

[0028] The slats are arranged alternately on the two levels 8, 9 from the foot end 5 to the head end 6, with the slats in the first level 8 being referred to as the first slats and the slats in the second level as the second slats. Accordingly, the receiving openings 7 on both sides of the slatted frame are also arranged alternately in a zigzag pattern on both levels 8, 9. The spaces between the slats of each level 8, 9 are arranged such that the slats of the other level 8, 9 can penetrate without collision.

[0029] The first end cap 3 and the second end cap 4 each have at least three receiving openings. Furthermore, the first end cap 3 and the second end cap 4 each have an odd number of receiving openings 7.

[0030] The receiving openings 7 in the end caps 3 and 4 are also arranged alternately.

[0031] In Fig. 3 An exemplary preferred embodiment of the first end cap 3 is shown in side view. Fig. 4 shows the in Fig. 3 preferred embodiment of the end cap 3 shown in axonometric view and Fig. 5 shows the in Fig. 3 The preferred embodiment of the end cap 3 shown is shown in a top view. It can be seen that the first end cap 3 has one more receiving opening 7 in the first plane 8 of the two planes 8, 9 than in the second plane 9 of the two planes 8, 9.

[0032] In Fig. 6 An exemplary preferred embodiment of the second end cap 4 is shown in side view. Fig. 7 shows the in Fig. 6 preferred embodiment of the end cap 4 shown in axonometric view and Fig. 8 shows the in Fig. 6 The preferred embodiment of the end cap 4 is shown in a top view. It can be seen that the second end cap 4 has one more receiving opening 7 in the second plane 9 of the two planes 8, 9 than in the first plane 8 of the two planes 8, 9.

[0033] By using two differently designed end caps 3, 4, it is possible to arrange slats alternately on two levels 8, 9. Due to the odd number of receiving openings 7, a tilting moment does not occur under a vertical load, regardless of the load state, as would be the case with an offset arrangement of the same number of receiving openings 7 on both levels 8, 9. By arranging receiving openings 7 on both levels 8, 9 for each end cap 3, 4, the lateral spacing of the slats on the different levels 8, 9 is ensured, so that the slats on the different levels 8, 9 do not collide with each other under load but can interlock like a zipper.

[0034] The end caps 3,4 are preferably arranged at predetermined intervals on the frame.

[0035] Furthermore, preferably two first end caps 3 or two second end caps 4 are arranged opposite each other on the frame 2.

[0036] Preferably, each first end cap 3 and each second end cap 4 has a first transverse side 13 and a second transverse side 14. Preferably, when the first end cap 3 or the second end cap 4 is attached to the frame 2, the first transverse side 13 faces the frame 2. Preferably, when the first end cap 3 or the second end cap 4 is attached to the frame 2, the second transverse side 14 faces the opposite first end cap 3 or the opposite second end cap 4. The first transverse side 13 and the second transverse side 14 of the first and second end caps 3, 4 are in the Fig. 5 and 8 shown as an example.

[0037] Preferably, at least 8, more preferably at least 12, and in particular at least 15, first end caps 3 can be attached to each of the two sides of the frame 2.

[0038] Preferably, a maximum of 30, more preferably a maximum of 25, and in particular a maximum of 20, first end caps 3 can be attached to each of the two sides of the frame 2.

[0039] Preferably, at least 6, more preferably at least 10, and in particular at least 13, second end caps 4 can be attached to each of the two sides of the frame 2.

[0040] Preferably, a maximum of 28, more preferably a maximum of 23, and in particular a maximum of 18, second end caps 4 can be attached to each of the two sides of the frame 2.

[0041] In Fig. 2 is a detail of the in Fig. 1 The slatted frame 1 is shown in longitudinal section, with levels 8 and 9 shown by way of example. As can be seen, levels 8 and 9 each run through the center of the receiving openings 7, with all first slats on the first level 8 being held by the end caps 3 and 4, and all second slats on the second level 9 being held by the end caps 3 and 4. These levels 8 and 9 are not to be understood as levels in the mathematical sense, but according to the invention allow the slats to be flexible under load. Furthermore, the first and second slats can have a predefinable curvature for their bending behavior, so that levels 8 and 9 preferably indicate that the slats are arranged at the same level, i.e., on the first level 8 or on the second level 9, when the slats are unloaded.

[0042] Preferably, the first and second end caps 3, 4 – attached to the frame 2 – have a common first level 8 and a common second level 9. This is exemplified in Fig. 2 shown.

[0043] It may preferably be provided that in the first level 8 first slats with a first stiffness are arranged and in the second level 9 second slats with a second stiffness, wherein the second stiffness is higher than the first stiffness.

[0044] Preferably, all first slats are identical.

[0045] Preferably, all second slats are identical.

[0046] It is particularly advantageous that the outermost end caps 3, 4 at the head end 6 and at the foot end 5 of the frame 2 are the first end caps 3. This has the advantage that the outermost slat at both the head end 6 and the foot end 5 is the first slat, thus preventing a disruptive sag of the mattress at one end of the slatted frame 1. This allows for particularly effective compensation of concentrated loads at the head end 6 or foot end 5 of the slatted frame 1, for example, when a person sits on the slatted frame 1 at the foot end 5 or at the head end 6.

[0047] It is particularly preferred that the first slats have a first slat width and the second slats have a second slat width, the second slat width being greater than the first slat width. This allows the different stiffnesses, especially bending stiffnesses, of the slats to be achieved particularly easily.

[0048] It is particularly preferred that each first end cap 3 has only two receiving openings 7 in the first plane 8 and that the receiving opening 7 in the second plane 9 is arranged between the two receiving openings 7 in the first plane 8. This allows the inventive effect to be easily implemented with a particularly small first end cap 3.

[0049] It is particularly preferred that every second end cap 4 in the second level 9 has only two receiving openings 7 and that the receiving opening 7 in the first level 8 is arranged between the two receiving openings 7 in the second level 9. This allows the inventive effect to be easily implemented with a particularly small second end cap 4.

[0050] It is particularly preferred that the first and second end caps 3, 4 arranged on each side of the frame 2 are spaced at a substantially equal distance from each other. This facilitates the assembly of the slatted frame 1 and simplifies the zipper-like interlocking of the slats under load.

[0051] Preferably, the first end caps 3 and / or the second end caps 4 may have a plane of symmetry. In particular, the plane of symmetry may be normal to a straight line extending from the foot end 6 to the head end 5.

[0052] Particularly preferably, each first end cap 3 and each second end cap 4 may include at least two fastening devices 10 for attaching the end cap 3, 4 to the frame 2. This allows for a particularly secure fastening of the end caps 3, 4 to the frame 2, thereby preventing the end cap 3, 4 attached to the frame from twisting.

[0053] In particular, it can be provided that the fastening devices 10 of the first and second end caps 3, 4 attached to each side of the frame 2 are equidistant from each other. This simplifies the manufacture of the slatted frame 1, as holes on the sides of the slatted frame 1 can be used for fastening both the first end caps 3 and the second end caps 4.

[0054] Preferably, two recesses, in particular bores, for fastening the fastening devices 10 can be arranged on each of the two sides of the frame.

[0055] Preferably, the first end caps 3 and the second end caps 4 can be attached to the frame 2 by means of fasteners such as screws or bolts. Preferably, the first and the second end caps 3, 4 are attached to the frame 2 by means of the fastening devices 10 and the fasteners.

[0056] Particularly preferably, each first end cap 3 may comprise a connecting piece 11 arranged substantially in the first plane 8, wherein the connecting piece 11 connects the receiving openings 7 arranged in the first plane 8 to one another. This can provide additional stability to the first end caps 3, which can support the bending behavior of the slatted frame 1 and the zipper-like interlocking of the slats.

[0057] Furthermore, a bed comprising a bed frame, a mattress and the slatted frame 1 according to the invention is provided, wherein the slatted frame 1 is inserted in the bed frame and the mattress of the bed - in an unloaded state - rests only on the first slats.
