Description

[0001] The invention relates according to the preamble of claim 1 to a side guide rail for a vertical awning and further according to the preamble of claim 12 to a vertical awning.

[0002] The awning fabric of conventional vertical awnings has edge links, usually designed as half-zippers, attached to both side edges. These edge links, which are housed in the side guides of the vertical awning as piping, keep the awning fabric taut. An insert is guided in each of the two lateral guide rails, each with a piping groove into which the edge links of the awning fabric are threaded when the awning fabric is lowered. The inserts in the guide rails are supported by elastic damping elements on undercuts in the guide grooves of the guide rails, so that the lowered awning fabric is held taut in the transverse direction, but with a certain degree of flexibility, which is determined by the elastic damping element(s).This flexibility is necessary to prevent the awning fabric from tearing in gusts of wind and to compensate for manufacturing tolerances and wear-related fabric shrinkage, which arise from the nature of the awning fabric's mostly textile material. The awning fabric is attached at its upper end to a winding shaft and at its lower end to a usually weighted end or drop rod profile, which is also guided in the side guide rails. A typical vertical awning can be found in DE 10 2009 007 682 A1.

[0003] The international patent application WO 2013 / 167786 A1 also shows such a vertical awning. In the embodiment according to Fig. 6 The profile, which encompasses the side edge of the curtain, which is provided with a series of clip elements in the manner of a half-zip, is in turn rotatably mounted in the side guide rail.

[0004] Other known vertical awnings are guided only by their drop bar profile, but not by the side edges of the awning fabric. As a result, these vertical awnings tend to flap or even tear in gusts of wind if they are installed unprotected on the exterior of a building. An example of this is European patent application EP 2 031 176 A2, which shows a vertical awning in which the drop bar profile is guided laterally on a vertically tensioned cable.

[0005] In order to create a vertical awning with, on the one hand, good wind stability of the curtain and, on the other hand, an appearance reduced to a minimum, side guide rails for vertical awnings were already proposed in the European patent application EP 3 043 018 B1, which are penetrated by a channel running parallel to the piping groove, through which a longitudinally extended fastening element such as a steel cable is passed, which is fastened above and below the side guide rail on the building side.

[0006] Based on this, the present invention is based on the object of creating a vertical awning and a side guide rail therefor, which allows simple production of the side guide rail with high wind stability and an attractive appearance.

[0007] This object is achieved with regard to the side guide rail by the features of claim 1, and with regard to the vertical awning by the features of claim 12.

[0008] According to the invention, a side guide rail for laterally guiding a curtain of a vertical awning is proposed, which has a piping groove extending along the side guide rail, which in the installed state is open towards the curtain in order to receive a lateral piping of the curtain of the vertical awning, wherein the side guide rail further has a fastening channel running parallel to the piping groove, through which an elongated fastening member, for example a cable or wire rope or a tension rod, can be passed in order to fasten the side guide rail above and below the side guide rail on the building side.

[0009] The lateral guide rail is characterized by a guide rail profile in which an insert receiving groove is formed, extending along the guide rail profile and undercut on both sides of its opening facing the curtain when installed, as well as by a fabric guide insert extending along the guide rail profile in the insert receiving groove, having a piping groove and supporting sections, in particular two supporting sections arranged on both sides of the piping groove, for example in the form of side tabs extending from a central piping section with the piping groove, in order to support the fabric guide insert against tension exerted by the curtain, each at an undercut of the insert receiving groove or guide groove. The at least one fastening channel is delimited by vertical channel walls, which according to the invention can be formed entirely on the guide rail profile.Alternatively, the vertical channel walls of the fastening channel can also be formed by a first channel wall section on the fabric guide insert and a second channel wall section on the guide rail profile. According to a further alternative according to the invention, the vertical channel walls of the fastening channel can also be formed by a first channel wall section on the fabric guide insert, a second channel wall section on the guide rail profile, and one or more further channel wall sections on one or more further profiles received in the insert receiving groove.

[0010] The side guide rails of the vertical awning according to the invention can then be attached to the building by passing at least one elongated fastening element through each fastening channel, with which the respective side guide rail can be attached to the building. The fastening element can be, for example, a cable / wire cable or a tension rod.

[0011] The side guide rails, equipped with wire ropes or similar, can be attached to the building above and below the respective side guide rail. This simplifies the use of the guide rails on steel / glass facades and in other application scenarios where attaching the side guide rails at points distributed along their length is difficult. In addition, the classic two-part design of the side guide rail, with the guide rail profile encapsulating the fabric guide insert, makes it possible to provide a certain degree of flexibility against tensile forces induced by wind force on the curtain. This is because the fabric guide insert can be accommodated in the insert receiving groove with a certain amount of play or can even be elastically pre-tensioned towards the curtain using elastic pre-tensioning elements or through its inherent deformability. In addition, the outwardly visible appearance of the side guide rail is essentially determined solely by the guide rail profile, which can advantageously be designed as an aluminum profile, and not by the fabric guide insert, so that the appearance does not have to be taken into account when choosing the material for the fabric guide insert and the fabric guide insert can be made of a cheaper material such as plastic.

[0012] Advantageous further training is the subject of the subclaims.

[0013] If the at least one fastening channel is formed by a first channel wall section on the fabric guide insert and a complementary second channel wall section on the guide rail profile, production is relatively simple because the fastening channel does not have to be molded into a single-piece profile. Furthermore, the elongated fastening element can be easily inserted during assembly and does not require complex threading.

[0014] This also applies if the vertical channel walls of the fastening channel are formed by a first channel wall section on the fabric guide insert, a second channel wall section on the guide rail profile, and one or more additional channel wall sections on one or more additional profiles received in the insert receiving groove. In this variant, the additional profiles can also be used to space the fastening channels apart from one another in the transverse direction of the curtain, without the guide rail profile or the fabric guide insert having to have a complex geometry.

[0015] Multiple fastening channels, particularly those spaced apart transversely to the curtain, are advantageous because securing the side guide rail using multiple, particularly spaced-apart, fastening elements allows for a significantly more stable attachment of the side guide rail to the building, preventing it from twisting. It would even be conceivable to provide more than two fastening channels and thus also fastening elements.

[0016] Advantageously, two fastening channels are provided which are spaced apart from one another in the transverse direction to the curtain and, accordingly, two fastening members are provided which are spaced apart from one another in the transverse direction to the curtain and which are guided through the two fastening channels.

[0017] Alternatively or in addition to this, a further development of the side guide rail with a fastening channel - even with only a single one - would also be conceivable, which is wider in the transverse direction to the curtain than in the direction towards the curtain, preferably twice or more than twice as wide, and thus creates space for a plurality of the longitudinally extending fastening elements which are guided through this fastening channel.

[0018] Advantageous further training is the subject of the remaining claims.

[0019] Thus, the first channel wall section of each fastening channel located on the fabric guide insert is advantageously formed on the area of the piping section facing away from the piping groove or on one of the side flaps.

[0020] The complementary second channel wall section located on the guide rail profile is advantageously formed on an inner surface of the guide rail profile surrounding the insert receiving groove. The fastening element can then be easily inserted into the guide rail profile, after which the fabric guide insert can be inserted.

[0021] The insert receiving groove can have a substantially rectangular cross-section, as can be easily defined, for example, by a multiply beveled aluminum profile serving as a guide rail profile. The cross-section advantageously has a longitudinal extension transverse to the plane of the curtain, so that there is space for the two side tabs of the fabric guide insert, which are located on either side of the piping section of the fabric guide insert and with which the fabric guide insert can be supported on the undercuts of the guide rail profile on the side facing the curtain.

[0022] The two fastening channels are advantageously formed on the two sides of the insert receiving groove located transversely to the curtain and are thus spaced as far apart as possible from each other within the guide rail profile.

[0023] A particularly simple production of the fabric guide insert and the guide rail profile is achieved if the two fastening channels are advantageously formed on a side of the insert receiving groove facing away from the curtain, in particular in the two outer corners of the insert receiving groove, where their side facing away from the curtain borders on one of their sides located transversely to the curtain.

[0024] This allows a corner groove to be provided on each of the two side flaps in the area of the outer corners of the insert receiving groove, forming the first channel wall section of the respective fastening channel. The second channel wall section of the respective fastening channel can then simply be formed by wall sections of the guide rail profile that meet at a 90° angle at the two corners of the guide rail profile facing away from the opening of the guide rail profile facing the curtain.

[0025] The guide rail profile can then have a substantially U-shaped cross-section, the opening of which, when installed, is directed towards the curtain and is flanked on both sides by two webs which form the undercuts of the insert receiving groove, whereby the guide rail profile can be easily manufactured from metal, in particular aluminium, for example by bending a sheet metal to a correspondingly shaped metal or aluminium profile, by extrusion or pressing or the like.

[0026] The fabric guide insert can then be manufactured from plastic in a relatively simple way, for example by extrusion, because no internal fastening channels need to be created.

[0027] Further advantageous developments of the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the embodiment shown in the accompanying drawings. They show: Fig. 1 shows a vertical section through a generic vertical awning with a partially lowered drop rod; Fig. 2 shows a perspective detailed view of a vertical awning curtain guided in a side guide rail according to an embodiment of the invention; Fig. 3 shows a sectional view through the Figure 2 Fig. 4 shows an alternative embodiment of the guide rail according to the invention with the vertical awning curtain accommodated therein; Fig. 5 shows a further alternative embodiment of the guide rail according to the invention with the vertical awning curtain accommodated therein; and Fig. 6 shows a further alternative embodiment of the guide rail according to the invention with the vertical awning curtain accommodated therein

[0028] In the Figure 1A vertical awning according to the prior art is shown in DE 10 2009 007 682 A1. Such vertical awnings are usually arranged on the outside of a window etc. inserted into a building opening. Figure 1 The vertical awning on which this is based contains a box 11, which is usually arranged in the area of the upper edge of the building opening and from which lateral guide rails 17 project downwards. Within the box 11 there is a rotatably mounted winding shaft 13, which can be driven in the direction of rotation and onto which a web-shaped curtain 14 consisting of an awning fabric can be wound or from which this curtain 14 can be unwound. The curtain 14 is accordingly fastened by its upper end to the winding shaft 13. At the lower end of the curtain 14 there is a drop rod 15, which can be provided with weights and is guided by its side ends in the guide rails 17.

[0029] The curtain 14 extends through a slot-shaped outlet opening provided in the area of the lower, rear corner of the box 11 and extending along the length of the box. The box 11 contains lateral side parts 16, expediently manufactured as cast parts, which can be provided with downwardly projecting plug pins for connecting the guide rails 17. The winding shaft 13 is mounted on the side parts 16. The interior of the box 11 is delimited by a circumferential casing 19, the ends of which are attached to the side parts 16. The casing 19 comprises a rear wall 20, as well as an upper part 21 and a lower part 22.

[0030] On the one hand, the lateral ends of the drop rod 15 are guided in the guide rails 17 in an insert receiving groove or guide groove running in the direction of curtain extension. On the other hand, guide rail inserts serving to laterally guide and tighten the curtain 14 are inserted into the insert receiving groove. These guide rail inserts are supported transversely to the direction of curtain extension by elastic damping elements on inner shoulders of the undercut insert receiving groove of the respective guide rail 17. These guide rail or fabric guide inserts each contain a vertically extending groove that serves as a piping groove for edge piping sections on the side edges of the curtain fabric 14.

[0031] The above description of a generic vertical awning is for explanatory purposes only. Figures 2 and 3However, the embodiment of the side guide rail according to the invention for such a vertical awning shown can be used, among other things, in vertical awnings of the type described for guiding the curtain during raising and lowering.

[0032] The Figures 2 and 3show a side guide rail with a guide rail profile 1 and a fabric guide insert 2 accommodated therein. The guide rail profile 1 opens in a U-shape towards a curtain fabric 6, whereby the opening of the guide rail profile 1 facing the curtain fabric 6 is flanked by two webs 10 which form undercuts of the insert receiving groove enclosed by the guide rail profile 1. The fabric guide insert 2 is inserted into the insert receiving groove of the guide rail profile 1 as a further component of the side guide rail 1, 2. The fabric guide insert 2 has a central piping section 8 which projects through the opening of the guide rail profile 1 facing the curtain fabric 6 and is flanked on both sides by a side flap 9, which is each supported on the associated web 10.

[0033] On the piping section 8, a piping groove 5 is formed which extends along the fabric guide insert 2 or the side guide rail 1, 2, which is open towards the curtain fabric 6 and receives a lateral piping 4 in the form of a half-zipper or a sequence of staples, which is attached to the curtain fabric 6 via an elastic band 7.

[0034] The fabric guide insert 2 advantageously consists of a one-piece plastic profile with support sections 9, which, on the side facing away from the curtain 6, adjoin its central piping section 8 and are designed as side flaps 9. Further away from the central piping section 8, the side flaps face the curtain fabric 6 and then extend further outwards along the webs 10 in a transverse direction to the curtain fabric 6. This defines a corner groove in the two corners of the fabric guide insert 2 facing away from the curtain fabric 6 and located on the outside in the transverse direction to the curtain. The walls of the corner groove, in interaction with complementary wall sections of the guide rail profile 1, each form a fastening channel 11.A wire rope or similar element serving as a fastening element 3 is guided through each of the fastening channels 11. This element allows the side guide rail 1, 2 to be attached to the building either directly or indirectly via a side panel of the vertical awning box. At the same time, the S-shape of the side tabs described above provides a certain degree of flexibility, inherent in the fabric guide insert, against tensile loads from the curtain.

[0035] The geometry of guide rail profile 1, in the form of a U with an undercut opening, is simple, allowing it to be easily manufactured as a metal or aluminum profile. Since guide rail profile 1 almost completely encloses and thus covers the fabric guide insert, no great attention needs to be paid to its shape and color. The guide rail profile conceals fabric guide rail insert 2.

[0036] Variations and modifications of the embodiment are possible.

[0037] For example, it would be conceivable to insert elastic dampers between the webs 10 of the guide rail profile 1 and the side flaps 9 of the fabric guide insert 2 or to pre-tension the fabric guide insert 2 against the webs 10 by means of springs on the side facing away from the curtain.

[0038] At the Fig. 4In the alternative embodiment shown, the side guide rail has a two-part fabric guide insert 2a, 2b, in which the piping is received in a separate part 2b, which in turn is received in a corresponding groove in a main part 2b of the fabric guide insert 2a, 2b. The main part 2b of the fabric guide insert 2a, 2b has two support sections that extend as flat side tabs away from the piping in the transverse direction of the curtain, behind which a corresponding amount of space remains in the insert receiving groove in the guide rail profile 1. This space is filled in the central area by an inserted, further profile 12, which spaced the two fastening channels formed in the rear corners facing away from the fabric from each other in the transverse direction of the curtain.

[0039] At the Fig. 5In the alternative embodiment shown, however, the two fastening channels are not located on the side of a fabric guide insert 2c facing away from the fabric, but rather on its two sides located in the transverse direction of the curtain. The fabric guide insert 2c can thus be very compact and rectangular in cross-section, although a guide rail profile 1a used here can also be significantly narrower than the guide rail profile 1 used in the previous embodiments.

[0040] Even significantly narrower is a guide rail profile 1b of the Fig. 6shown guide rail, because here the two wire cables serving as fastening elements 3 are arranged on the side of the rectangular fabric guide insert 2c facing away from the fabric. Shown here is a separate fastening channel in the guide rail profile 1b, through which two wire cables are guided. However, it would also be conceivable to form the fastening channel between the guide rail profile and the fabric guide insert, for example by omitting the web of the guide rail profile 1 that delimits the fastening channel on the side facing the fabric guide insert 2c and instead extending the fabric guide insert 2c accordingly on its rear side or shortening the flanks of the guide rail profile 1 accordingly.

[0041] Variations and modifications of the embodiments shown are possible without departing from the scope of the invention as defined by the following claims.
