[0001] The present invention relates to a finishing and protection element for walls of a premises, in particular an industrial premises, in which it is necessary to ensure and maintain high levels of hygiene conditions. The finishing element is particularly suitable, in a preferred version, for protecting corners between contiguous walls of a premises.
[0002] In industrial and / or domestic environments in which food products are handled, it is necessary to ensure high levels of hygiene conditions; on the other hand, the organic traces resulting from the handling of the food products constitute an ideal environment for the development of pathogenic microorganisms, particularly in environments with indentations which are poorly oxygenated and poorly lit, such as, for example, surfaces with sharp corners. Therefore, such environments are regularly subjected to deep-cleaning operations or sanitization in order to destroy the pathogenic microorganisms which may be present and to minimize the bacterial contamination, eliminating to the greatest possible extent the organic traces left behind by the handling of food products.
[0003] In the food industry, sanitization takes on an extremely relevant importance and provides for treatments of a physical and chemical nature which are suitable for removing from the surfaces the visible and invisible dirt and removing the residues of substances which are used in the sanitization treatment, eliminating or reducing to acceptable levels the microorganisms which may be present.
[0004] During the sanitization, there may be provided various steps of cleansing and disinfecting by means of mechanical and / or chemical and / or thermal actions.
[0005] In order to facilitate such sanitization operations and to increase the efficacy thereof, there is provision for applying finishing elements to the walls of the premises to be treated. The finishing elements are usually applied along the corners of the walls so as to cover the corners between two contiguous walls. The finishing elements are further configured to also cover the angles which are formed between the contiguous walls.
[0006] The finishing elements are configured so as to cover the corners at which the dirt gathers and which are difficult to clean and sanitize. In fact, the corners are difficult to reach with mechanical cleaning means and therefore the dirt, detergents and organic residues tend to remain in the corners.
[0007] Such finishing elements usually comprise a member which is made of plastics material for withstanding the chemical aggression of the detergents used during the cleaning operations and which is internally hollow.

[0011] In fact, the Applicant has noted that, using the known finishing elements, there are defined gaps between the finishing element itself and the walls, to which this finishing element is applied. Furthermore, such finishing elements have a limited resistance over time and there may occur, for example, as a result of mechanical impacts during the cleaning operations, fractures in the wall of the finishing elements. Therefore, gaps are generated between the finishing element and the wall to which it is applied. The protection provided by the known finishing elements is limited and not very durable. In fact, dirt may become introduced between the finishing elements and the walls to which they are applied or also inside the finishing elements themselves.
[0012] In order to overcome this disadvantage, it has been proposed to use connection elements between the finishing elements and the walls to which they are applied. However, this arrangement solves this problem only partially and increases the overall cost of the known finishing elements. Furthermore, the provision of connection elements generates additional possible areas of potential accumulation of dirt or detergents.
[0013] The Applicant has further noted that, in such gaps, there often remain stagnating residues which promote the proliferation of pathogenic microorganisms, affecting the hygiene conditions of the premises provided with such finishing elements.
[0014] Furthermore, the Applicant has found that such known finishing elements have a limited mechanical strength and tend to deteriorate over time. This involves such finishing elements having to be replaced frequently or, after a limited period of time, no longer performing the function thereof correctly.
[0015] The Applicant has further noted that the known finishing elements, although positioned beside the intended walls, do not have a good adhesion to the walls, leaving free access for the dirt with a resultant accumulation of dirt and deterioration of the sanitary conditions of the premises in which such finishing elements are applied. In fact, the presence of areas which are not correctly cleansed and disinfected involves the accumulation of residues of organic substances, giving rise to the risk of growth of colonies of pathogenic organisms.
[0016] In some cases in which a deep cleaning of the premises is required, there may be provision for removing the finishing elements in order to carry out the cleaning operations required and subsequently to again apply such finishing elements. The known finishing elements tend to become damaged during the removal or the subsequent re-application.
[0017] Furthermore, the Applicant has noted that the finishing elements according to the prior art can be readily damaged or deformed persistently during use, compromising the functionality thereof.
[0018] Therefore, it is often necessary to replace the finishing element with resultant unavailability of the premises and use of labour.
[0019] In this context, the Applicant has perceived the need to provide a finishing and protection element for walls of premises, in particular industrial premises, in which it is necessary to maintain high levels of hygiene conditions which is easy to clean, which inhibits the formation of pathogenic agents and which is at the same time relatively resistant to impacts.

Finishing element (100; 100'; 100") for a wall of a premises, comprising: a shell-like body(1; 1'; 1") which is intended to be applied to said wall of said premises and which is configured to extend along at least a portion of said wall and which is delimited by a first face (10; 10'; 10"), which is intended to face during use towards the interior of said premises, and by a second face (11; 11'; 11") which is intended to be directed during use towards said wall, wherein said first face (10; 10'; 10") is defined by a surface (5; 5'; 5") having a continuous development, a filling (R) which is made of foam material and which is inserted in said shell-like member (1; 1'; 1") and at least one extension piece (2, 20) which projects from said first face (10; 10'; 10") towards said second face (11; 11'; 11") and which is configured to move into contact during use with said wall, said extension piece (2, 20) being made from flexible material in order to adapt during use to a profile of said wall, characterized in that said surface (5; 5'; 5") has at least one curved-surface portion (5A; 5B; 5'A; 5'B; 5"A; 5"B).
2. Finishing element (100; 100'; 100") according to the preceding claim, wherein said extension piece (2, 20) has a tapered form in the direction away from said first face.

Finishing element (100; 100'; 100") according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said extension piece (2, 20) is configured to take up a curved profile in a rest position of said finishing element, preferably said extension piece (2, 20) comprising a first surface (6) which is intended to be directed during use towards the interior of said premises, said first surface (6) having a convex profile and a second surface (7) which is intended to be directed during use towards said wall, said second surface (7) having a concave profile.
4. Finishing element (100; 100'; 100") according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the extension piece (2, 20) is fixed to a first edge (1A; 1'A; 1"A) of said first face (10; 10'; 10").

Finishing element (100; 100'; 100") according to the preceding claim, comprising an additional extension piece (20) which is fixed to a second edge (1B; 1'B; 1"B) of said first face (10; 10'; 10") opposite said first edge (1A; 1'A; 1"A), said additional extension piece (20) being configured to move into contact during use with said wall or with a second wall of said premises, said additional extension piece (20) being made from a flexible material in order to adapt in use to the profile of said wall or a profile of said second wall.
6. Finishing element (100; 100') according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said curved-surface portion (5A, 5B; 5'A, 5'B) is provided in the region of an edge (1A, 1B; 1'A, 1'B) of said first face (10; 10').
7. Finishing element (100") according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said first face (10") is defined by a curved surface (5"A), preferably said curved surface (5"A) having a concavity which is directed towards said premises.

Finishing element (100) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said first face (10) comprises a first curved-surface portion (5A) having a convexity which is directed towards said premises, a second curved-surface portion (5B) which has a concavity directed towards said premises and a rectilinear portion (5C) which is interposed between said first curved-surface portion (5A) and said second curved-surface portion (5B), said first curved-surface portion (5A) preferably being provided in the region of said first edge (1A) and said second curved-surface portion (5B) preferably being provided in the region of said second edge (1B).

Finishing element (100') according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the first face (10') comprises a first curved-surface portion (5'A) having a convexity which is directed towards said premises, a second curved-surface portion (5'B) having a convexity which is directed towards said premises and a rectilinear portion (5'C) which is interposed between said first curved-surface portion (5'A) and said second curved-surface portion (5'B), said first curved-surface portion (5'A) preferably being provided in the region of said first edge (1'A) and said second curved-surface portion (5'B) preferably being provided in the region of said second edge (1'B).
10. Finishing element (100; 100'; 100") according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said shell-like body (1; 1'; 1") is made from a plastics material having a hardness between 65 and 95 Shore D and a flexural modulus of elasticity between 2.5 and 4.5 GPa, preferably rigid PVC, said covering (R) made from foam material is made from a foam plastics material with a hardness between 65 and 95 Shore D, preferably expanded PVC, said extension piece (2) and / or additional extension piece (20) is made from a plastics material having a hardness between 60 and 90 Shore A, preferably flexible PVC.
11. Finishing element (100; 100'; 100") according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said covering (R) made from foam material is made from a foam plastics material with a hardness between 65 and 95 Shore D, preferably expanded PVC.
12. Finishing element (100; 100'; 100") according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said extension piece (2) and / or additional extension piece (20) is / are made from a plastics material having a hardness between 60 and 90 Shore A, preferably flexible PVC.
