Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a method for producing a sealing connection of a shower tray or bathtub with two walls forming a corner of a room using a tub sealing tape according to patent claim 1. The invention further relates to an assembly kit for producing a sealing connection of a shower tray or bathtub according to patent claim 5.
[0002] Sealing and installation tapes are regularly used when installing bathtubs or shower trays in sanitary areas. Such sealing and installation tapes, also commonly referred to as bathtub sealing tape, are usually provided with a sealing and adhesive surface on their front for flush fastening to the edge of the sanitary fixture to be installed. Above this sealing and adhesive surface is an area of the sealing and installation tape which, after being applied to a wall provided with a sealing layer for a composite waterproofing (AIV), is covered with a wall covering, such as tiles. This area is usually formed by a fleece. For attachment to the wall, such a bathtub sealing tape is usually provided with an adhesive layer on its back, opposite the sealing and adhesive surface.
[0003] The sealing application of a bathtub sealing tape in the area of room corners is problematic, where the distances between the bathtub and the walls forming the corner of the room, which are not exactly flat and not exactly at an angle to each other, often vary.
[0004] To solve this problem, DE 20 2019 104 744 U1 proposes a three-part installation kit comprising two non-stretchable sealing strips and an expandable transition element. The installation kit is installed by first gluing the two sealing strips along the straight tub legs. In the corner area of the tub, which is installed toward the corner of the room, the elastic transition element is then glued onto the wall side of the non-stretchable sealing strips, overlapping them.
[0005] The disadvantage of the previously known solution is that the two-layer structure in the overlap area of the transition element with the two sealing strips can lead to the formation of wrinkles and a reduction in the sealing effect.
[0006] The invention aims to remedy this situation. The invention is based on the object of providing a method that enables a uniformly sealed connection between a shower tray or bathtub and two walls forming a corner of a room while avoiding the formation of wrinkles. According to the invention, this object is achieved by a method having the features of patent claim 1.
[0007] The invention provides a method that enables a uniformly sealed connection between a shower or bathtub and two walls forming a room corner, while avoiding the formation of wrinkles. By adhering the tub sealing tape with its sealing-adhesive surface to the tub edge, with the tub sealing tape being provided with a transverse incision in the area of the room corner up to an area in front of the sealing-adhesive surface, an uninterrupted, continuous sealing-adhesive connection between the tub sealing tape and the tub is achieved. The incision enables a flat, wrinkle-free application of the tub sealing tape to the two angled walls of the room corner, with the incision widening upwards in a V-shape.The now V-shaped cut is covered by the liquid-tight bridging strip, which is glued completely over the cut and onto the back of the tub sealing tape, opposite the sealing and adhesive surface. Because the cover is positioned above the continuous sealing and adhesive connection, it has no influence on the sealing connection between the tub and the walls. In a subsequent step, the shower or bathtub is placed with the corner of the tub against the corner of the room, and the tub sealing tape is glued to the adjacent walls with the bridging strip. The bridging strip is glued to the adjacent walls in the area of the corner of the room. This bridges the horizontal gap between the regularly rounded corner of the tub and the corner of the room.
[0008] In a further development of the invention, the incision extends right up to the sealing and adhesive surface. This supports the crease-free application of the tub sealing tape to the two walls of the room corner. It is crucial, however, that the incision does not damage the sealing and adhesive surface.
[0009] In an embodiment of the invention, the bridging strip extends beyond the incision in the longitudinal direction of the tub sealing strip by at least 0.5 cm, preferably at least 1 cm. Advantageously, the bridging strip extends transversely at least over the length of the incision.
[0010] The invention is further based on the object of providing a mounting kit that enables a uniformly sealed connection between a shower tray or bathtub and two walls forming a corner of a room while avoiding the formation of creases. According to the invention, this object is achieved by a mounting kit having the features of patent claim 5.
[0011] The invention provides an installation kit that enables a uniformly sealed connection between a shower tray or bathtub and two walls forming a room corner, while avoiding the formation of creases. Because the installation kit comprises a bathtub sealing strip that has a transverse fleece section followed by a fleece-free section in which the sealing-adhesive section is arranged, a circumferential seal between the bathtub and the walls is enabled after the bathtub sealing strip has been cut into the area of the room corner. The liquid-tight bridging strip, which is also included in the installation kit and is stretchable at least longitudinally, enables a wrinkle-free covering of the walls of the room corner and bridges the gap between the bathtub corner, which is regularly shaped like a curve, and the room corner in the area of the cut.
[0012] In a further development of the invention, the bridging strip is provided with an adhesive layer on one side. This allows for easy adhesion of the bridging strip to the walls in the area of the room's corner.
[0013] In one embodiment of the invention, the adhesive layer is covered with a cover film. This allows the transition strip to be applied to the walls in the area of the room corner with adjustments. Once the desired positioning is achieved, the cover film can be removed, allowing the adhesive surface to be continuously exposed for adhesion to the walls.
[0014] In a further embodiment of the invention, the cover film is slit centrally in the transverse direction, preferably across its entire width. This allows the transition strip to be stretched to fit into a corner of the room without having to first remove the cover film, thus preventing unwanted premature adhesion to the wall. Furthermore, peeling off one half of the film, starting from the corner of the room, allows the transition strip to be adhered to the wall without creases.
[0015] In one embodiment of the invention, cutting aids are preferably arranged at regular intervals on the tub sealing tape. The cutting aids are advantageously formed by printed cutting lines and / or notch or perforation lines. This supports the achievement of a straight cut. Printed cutting lines provide a visual cutting aid. Existing notch or perforation lines further support the cutting process by linearly weakening the material.
[0016] In a further embodiment of the invention, the tub sealing tape is essentially non-stretchable in at least one direction, preferably in the longitudinal direction. This allows for a uniform, stress-free application of the tub sealing tape. The term "essentially non-stretchable" refers to a slight degree of stretchability, given that every material is stretchable within small limits.
[0017] In a further development of the invention, the thickness of the bridging strip is equal to or thinner than the thickness of the tub sealing tape. This minimizes material thickening in the overlap area with the tub sealing tape. Furthermore, the thinner design promotes the stretchability of the bridging strip, which allows for wrinkle-free application in the area of the room corner.
[0018] Further developments and refinements of the invention are specified in the remaining subclaims. Exemplary embodiments are illustrated in the drawings and described in detail below. They show: Figure 1 shows a schematic representation of a tray sealing tape; Figure 2 shows a schematic representation of a method for producing a sealing connection between a shower tray and two walls forming a corner of a room: a) applying and cutting the tray sealing tape; b) adhering the tray sealing tape to the tray edge, forming a V-shaped cutout; c) adhering the bridging strip to the tray sealing tape in the area of the cutout; d) adhering the wall sealing tape to the walls, overlapping the bridging strip; Figure 3 shows a schematic detailed representation of the tray sealing tape adhered to the tray edge in the area of the tray corner, forming the V-shaped cutout.
[0019] The assembly set chosen as an exemplary embodiment for producing a sealing connection between a shower or bathtub and two walls 91 forming a corner 9 of a room comprises a bathtub sealing strip 1 and a bridging strip 7.
[0020] The tub sealing tape 1 is designed as an "endless" tape that is essentially non-stretchable in the longitudinal and transverse directions and can be wound onto a roll. The term "non-stretchable" is to be understood in this case – as already explained in the introduction – in a practical sense, i.e., a slight stretchability theoretically present in every material is to be disregarded here. "Stretchable" is to be understood in this case as an existing stretchability of greater than 5% in a given direction.
[0021] The bathtub sealing tape 1 comprises, viewed in the transverse direction, a strip-shaped fleece section 2, to which a strip-shaped fleece-free section 3 is connected. A strip-shaped sealing-adhesive surface 4 is arranged on the fleece-free section 3. The aforementioned strip-shaped regions are each rectangular and arranged parallel to one another. Incision lines 5 are printed on the bathtub sealing tape at regular parallel spacings from one another and extend beyond the fleece section 2 to just before the sealing-adhesive surface 4. On its rear side facing away from the sealing-adhesive surface 4, the bathtub sealing tape 1 is provided over its entire surface with an adhesive layer which is covered by a removable protective film.
[0022] The bridging strip 7 is essentially rectangular and made of material that is stretchable in the longitudinal direction X. Preferably, the bridging strip 7 has a thickness that corresponds to approximately 60% of the thickness of the tub sealing tape 1. In the present case, the tub sealing tape 1 has a thickness of 0.8 mm in the fleece-free section, and the bridging strip has a thickness of 0.5 mm.
[0023] In Figure 2 a method for producing a sealing connection of a shower tray 8 with two walls 91 forming a corner 9 of a room is shown in sequence (in Figure 2a indicated by dashed lines). The tub sealing tape 1 is first provided with an incision 6 in the area of the tub corner and is then glued with its sealing-adhesive surface 4 to the adjacent tub sides of the shower tray 8 that are to be connected to the walls, whereby the sides of the incision 6 are pulled apart in the area of the tub corner, giving it a V-shape (cf. Figure 2b and 3 ). The production of a straight cut is facilitated by the cut lines 5 arranged on the tub sealing strip 1. In the Figures 2a to 2d The corner of the shower tray 8 is shown only schematically. The corner of the shower tray 8 is regularly formed in the form of a curve, whereby a horizontal distance is formed between the corner 9 of the room and the corner of the shower tray 8, as in Figure 3 is shown schematically.
[0024] Subsequently, a bridging strip 7 is glued over the V-shaped incision 6, completely covering it, onto the back of the tub sealing tape 1 opposite the sealing-adhesive surface 4 (cf. Figure 2c). For this purpose, the cover film arranged on the adhesive surface of the tub sealing tape 1 is removed in sections. The bridging strip 7 is provided with an adhesive layer on its side opposite the tub sealing tape 1, which is covered with a cover film that is continuously slit along the transverse center line 71 of the bridging strip 7.
[0025] The shower tray 8 is then placed with the corner of the tray against the corner of the room 9 and the tray sealing tape 1 is glued to the adjacent walls 91 with the bridging strip 7 (cf. Fig. 2d). For this purpose, the two-part cover film of the bridging strip 7 is removed through the slit, starting from the corner 9 of the room, and the cover film of the tub sealing tape 1 is also peeled off during the bonding process, preferably from the corner of the room outwards. Due to the longitudinal stretchability of the bridging strip 7, crease-free bonding into the corner 9 of the room is possible, bridging the horizontal distance between the corner 9 of the room and the tub corner of the shower tray 8, which is regularly shaped in the form of a curve.
