Abstract

Device for stretching the back

[0001] The invention relates to a device for independently stretching one's own back. Many people suffer from back pain, and stretching their back on a traction bed brings them relief. However, conventional traction beds are not user-friendly enough and are often not operable alone, meaning that a person undergoing treatment cannot effectively use the traction bed on their own; instead, a therapist or assistant is required.

AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on March 27, 2024 (27.03.2024) Device for lying on one's stomach or in a supine position and for stretching the back, comprising a frame (1, 2) with two opposite pendulum supports (3), the lower ends of which are connected to a cross member profile (17), and on which cross member profile (17) a two-part frame consisting of a front frame part (VR) and a rear frame part (HR) is constructed for supporting a two-part couch, wherein the rear frame part (HR) is attached to the cross member profile (17) projecting rearward and carries footrests (10) at its rear end, characterized in that a mechanical guide and mechanical cable-free coupling are provided between the pendulum supports and the two-part frame,by means of which, with a pendulum movement of the two-part frame, the front frame part (VR) can be pushed apart and pushed back together relative to the rear frame part (H) and the parts of the two-part bed supported by them, for the controlled stretching of the upper body of a person lying on the two-part bed, in that this pendulum movement can be effected by the person themselves. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the mechanical guidance and mechanical cableless coupling are designed such that the front frame part (VR) is connected to the front bed part supported by it by a carriage (7) which is displaceably guided on a guide profile (8) which is attached to the cross member profile (17) projecting forward. AMENDED SHEET (ARTICLE 19) DECLARATION REFERRED TO IN ARTICLE 19 (1 ) D1: US 10 695 254 B2 (EXPECTATIONS LLC [US]) shows, as the closest prior art, a couch hinged to a frame for lying on. Due to the shape of the couch, as shown in Figure 11, it can be seen that it is intended for a person to lie on their back. Number 205 in Figure 8 of D1 shows a pillow as a headrest. It is clear that this is intended for the back of the head and certainly not for the face. The couch according to D1, with the person lying on their back on it, can be tilted so far beyond the horizontal that the head is then at the bottom and the feet at the top, i.e. the body is in an inverted position, held by the footrest. This inverted position stretches the body and in particular the back.In the device according to this present application, however, the person does not lie on their back but on their stomach on the couch, unlike in D1, and the extension of the back is not brought about by an inverted position of the body but by a displacement of the front part of the couch towards the rear part of the couch, i.e. by moving them apart, and this is brought about by the inclination and pivoting of the couch on the frame. By pivoting back, the two parts of the couch are moved back towards each other. Regarding the longitudinal variation of the couch according to D1, column 6, line 24 simply states: In this regard, the upper end of the extension 21 slides or telescopes within the rod 207 and is selectively locked by a spring-loaded pin or piston arrangement 221 which is inserted through a hole in the rod 207 and an aligned hole 212 in the extension 21.But D1 is only concerned with moving the two parts of the couch against each other and then locking and securing them in a relative position suitable for the user's height. It is therefore only about adjusting the couch to the user's height. However, during operation, when someone is lying on the couch, the two parts are definitely not moved against each other, and certainly not actively moved apart depending on the inclination or by pivoting the couch, to stretch the back, and then moved back together when pivoting back to relieve pressure, which is precisely the special feature of the device according to this application! As requested in the written opinion, the amended patent claim 1 is presented here in a new two-part form.
