AI Technical Summary
Sheet pile walls face challenges in withstanding high mechanical loads due to limited bending and torsional rigidity, often requiring thick materials that increase costs and complexity in transport and handling, while also lacking flexibility to adapt to local conditions during installation.
A sheet pile arrangement comprising alternating Z-sheet piles and U-sheet piles connected via coupling means, allowing for high bending and torsional rigidity with reduced material thickness, enabling adaptation to site-specific conditions and high load resistance.
The arrangement achieves high rigidity and flexibility, allowing the sheet pile wall to withstand significant loads while maintaining a relatively small material thickness, enabling adaptable installation and efficient handling.

Abstract
Description
[0001] Sheet pile arrangement for a sheet pile wall
[0002] The invention relates to a sheet pile assembly for a sheet pile wall. Furthermore, the invention relates to a sheet pile wall and a use of a sheet pile assembly.
[0003] Sheet piles and sheet pile walls made of sheet piles are generally known from the prior art, for example from DE 20 2016 101 909 U1. Sheet pile assemblies made of differently designed sheet piles are known, for example, from GB 340,853 A and WO 99 / 11869 A1. In these known sheet pile assemblies, two different types of sheet piles are used, which are arranged alternately next to one another and connected to one another, thus forming a sheet pile wall section. Sheet piles are typically exposed to high mechanical loads over their service life. In particular, sheet piles are frequently exposed to high bending and torsional loads. In order to withstand these loads, high bending and torsional stiffness, in particular a sufficiently high bending section modulus and a sufficiently high torsional section modulus, are required. High stiffness can be achieved, for example, by a large material thickness. However, excessive material thickness is disadvantageous, as the material requirements and mass are correspondingly large, increasing costs and making the transport and handling of the sheet pile elements more complex. Furthermore, there are often few options for adapting sheet piles to the on-site conditions when installing them. For example, it may be necessary to absorb high loads at one point of the sheet pile wall while not exceeding a certain width at another point.
[0004] The invention is therefore based on the object of providing an improved solution that addresses the aforementioned problems. In particular, the object of the invention is to provide a sheet pile assembly that allows adaptation to the on-site conditions and that can withstand particularly high mechanical loads.
[0005] According to a first aspect, the object is achieved by a sheet pile arrangement according to claim 1. This provides a sheet pile arrangement for a sheet pile wall, the sheet pile arrangement comprising a first sheet pile module and a second sheet pile module, wherein the first sheet pile module and the second sheet pile module are arranged next to one another. The first sheet pile module and the second sheet pile module each comprise a central sheet pile which is designed as a Z-sheet pile, wherein the central sheet pile has a longitudinal extension running parallel to a driving direction, wherein a first coupling means extending along the longitudinal extension is arranged on a first section of the central sheet pile and wherein a second coupling means extending along the longitudinal extension is arranged on a second section of the central sheet pile, a first U-sheet pile, which has a longitudinal extension running parallel to the driving direction, wherein a first coupling means extending parallel to the longitudinal extension is arranged on a first section of the first U-sheet pile and wherein a second coupling means extending along the longitudinal extension is arranged on a second section of the first U-sheet pile, a second U-sheet pile which has a longitudinal extension running parallel to the driving direction, wherein a first coupling means extending along the longitudinal extension is arranged on a first section of the second U-sheet pile and wherein a second coupling means extending along the longitudinal extension is arranged on a second section of the second U-sheet pile, wherein the first U-sheet pile is connected to the central sheet pile on the side of the first coupling means of the central sheet pile, in particular directly or by means of a connecting element, and wherein the second U-sheet pile is connected to the central sheet pile on the side of the second coupling means of the central sheet pile, wherein the first U-sheet pile and the second U-sheet pile are arranged such that the open side of the first U-sheet pile and the open side of the second U-sheet pile point in different directions.
[0006] A driving direction is understood in particular to be the direction in which a sheet pile wall, and thus also the components extending along a sheet pile wall, is inserted into the subsoil, in particular by driving the sheet pile wall into the ground. In the majority of cases, the driving direction is perpendicular to the ground surface. The driving direction is therefore usually vertical when installed. However, there are also driving directions that run parallel to the horizontal, for example when sheet piles or sheet piles for sheet pile walls are driven into mountains or hills, for example to support a tunnel. The driving direction corresponds in particular to the longitudinal direction of the sheet pile wall.
[0007] For the purposes of the present disclosure, a longitudinal extension or a longitudinal extension direction or a longitudinal axis of a sheet pile or a connecting element is understood to mean the extension of the respective object in the driving direction. The longitudinal extension directions of the sheet piles of a sheet pile module run, in particular, parallel to one another.
[0008] A sheet pile wall extension direction is understood to mean, in particular, a direction in which the sheet pile wall or a section of the sheet pile wall extends transversely to the longitudinal extension. The sheet pile wall extension direction thus extends orthogonally to the driving direction.
[0009] It is preferred within the scope of the present disclosure if the cross section of the central sheet pile and the cross section of the first and second U-sheet piles, and preferably the cross section of the connecting element, is substantially constant along the longitudinal extent or longitudinal extension direction.
[0010] The first sheet pile module and the second sheet pile module are arranged next to each other in particular along the sheet pile wall extension direction and can be connected to each other directly or by means of a connecting element.
[0011] It is preferred that the central sheet pile and the first and second U-shaped sheet piles comprise or consist of steel. It is preferred that the connecting element comprises or consists of steel. The sheet piles can, in particular, be hot-rolled or cold-rolled sheet piles.
[0012] The coupling means of the first U-sheet pile, the coupling means of the second U-sheet pile and the coupling means of the Z-sheet pile extend in the direction of the respective longitudinal extent, preferably parallel to each other.
[0013] A U-sheet pile is understood to mean, in particular, a sheet pile that has a substantially U-shaped cross-section. In particular, a U-sheet pile has a straight central section and two further sections extending from the central section, namely the first and the second section, which can also be referred to as flanges. The first section preferably extends substantially straight and is preferably oriented at an angle of more than 90° to the central section. The second section preferably extends substantially straight and is preferably oriented at an angle of more than 90° to the central section.
[0014] The open side of a U-sheet pile is the side on which the U formed by the U-sheet pile is open.
[0015] A Z-sheet pile is understood, in particular, to be a sheet pile having a cross-section with a shape similar to the letter Z. In particular, the Z-sheet pile has two straight sections, which can also be referred to as flanges and which are aligned parallel to one another, namely the first section and the second section, and a central section which runs obliquely to the first and second sections and is preferably also straight.
[0016] A coupling means is understood in particular to mean a connecting section of a sheet pile, wherein a coupling means is particularly designed to establish a positive connection with another coupling means, which can be arranged on a sheet pile or a connecting element. The coupling means are preferably designed to establish a Larssen lock connection. A Larssen lock is a form of interlock connection known and widespread in the field of sheet pile walls, with which, for example, sheet piles can be connected to one another. The coupling means are preferably arranged at the two end sections of the first and second sections, such that the first section, the middle section, and the second section are arranged between the coupling means. A connecting element is understood in particular to mean a component that is designed to connect two coupling means to one another. The connecting element is preferably designed to connect a U-shaped sheet pile with a Z-shaped sheet pile or with a U-shaped sheet pile. A connecting element is not understood to mean a sheet pile. The connecting element is preferably several times smaller in its extension transverse to the longitudinal extension than the sheet piles present in the sheet pile arrangement. For example, the connecting element can have a cross-section shaped essentially like the lowercase letter omega (co). However, the connecting element can also have a different shape.
[0017] One advantage of such a sheet pile arrangement is that, with an arrangement of U-shaped sheet piles curved outwards, very high bending and torsional rigidity can be achieved. This makes it particularly advantageous to provide a sheet pile arrangement that can reliably withstand particularly high loads over a long period of time while still maintaining a relatively low material thickness.
[0018] A further advantage of such a sheet pile arrangement is that it can also be designed so that the U-shaped sheet piles are curved inward. With such an arrangement, a narrow sheet pile wall can be created in a particularly advantageous manner, which, despite its narrow design, can still withstand relatively high mechanical loads.
[0019] A further advantage is the flexibility of this concept, allowing the sheet pile arrangement to be adapted to specific requirements, for example, even on-site. This allows for particularly flexible selection of a suitable sheet pile arrangement for the installation of a sheet pile wall, and variations between the different arrangements are also possible.
[0020] According to a particularly preferred embodiment, the second U-sheet pile of the first sheet pile module is connected to the first U-sheet pile of the second sheet pile module, in particular directly or by means of a connecting element.
[0021] Such a connection between the first sheet pile module and the second sheet pile module is particularly designed to be positively connected. Preferably, the second coupling means of the second U-shaped sheet pile of the first sheet pile module is positively connected either to the first coupling means of the first U-shaped sheet pile of the second sheet pile module or to a connecting element connected to the first coupling means of the first U-shaped sheet pile of the second sheet pile module.
[0022] It is particularly preferred that the first sound pile module has exactly three sheet piles, and preferably at least one connecting element.
[0023] Preferably, the first sheet pile module comprises exactly the following three sheet piles: the central sheet pile, the first U-sheet pile and the second U-sheet pile of the first sheet pile module.
[0024] Preferably, the second sound pile module has exactly three sheet piles, and preferably at least one connecting element.
[0025] Preferably, the second sheet pile module comprises exactly the following three sheet piles: the central sheet pile, the first U-sheet pile and the second U-sheet pile of the second sheet pile module.
[0026] It is particularly preferred if the first sheet pile module and the second sheet pile module are of the same design.
[0027] It is particularly preferred that the first U-sheet pile and the second U-sheet pile are arranged rotated by 180° relative to each other with respect to the direction of their longitudinal extension.
[0028] Preferably, the first U-sheet pile of the first sheet pile module and the second U-sheet pile of the first sheet pile module are arranged rotated by 180° relative to each other with respect to the direction of their longitudinal extension.
[0029] Preferably, the first U-shaped sheet pile of the second sheet pile module and the second U-shaped sheet pile of the second sheet pile module are arranged rotated by 180° relative to each other with respect to the direction of their longitudinal extension. In such an arrangement rotated by 180° relative to each other, the open sides of the first and second U-shaped sheet piles of a sheet pile module point in opposite directions.
[0030] It is particularly preferred that the central sheet pile and the first U-shaped sheet pile are connected to each other, preferably by means of a direct connection between the first coupling means of the central sheet pile and the second coupling means of the first U-shaped sheet pile, or by means of a connection via a connecting element that is connected, in particular in a form-fitting manner, to the first coupling means of the central sheet pile and the second coupling means. In the case of a direct connection, the connection is preferably designed to be form-fitting.
[0031] It is particularly preferred that the central sheet pile and the second U-shaped sheet pile are connected to each other, preferably by means of a direct connection between the second coupling means of the central sheet pile and the first coupling means of the second U-shaped sheet pile. In such a direct connection, the connection is preferably designed to be positively locked.
[0032] It is particularly preferred that the second U-sheet pile of the first sheet pile module is connected to the first U-sheet pile of the second sheet pile module, preferably by means of a direct connection between the second coupling means of the second U-sheet pile of the first sheet pile module and the first coupling means of the first U-sheet pile of the second sheet pile module or by means of a connection via a connecting element which is connected to the second coupling means of the second U-sheet pile of the first sheet pile module and the first coupling means of the first sheet pile of the second sheet pile module.
[0033] It is particularly preferred that the first coupling means of the central sheet pile is designed to produce a positive connection, in particular a Larssen lock connection, with the second coupling means of the first U-sheet pile or with a connecting element which is positively connected to the second coupling means of the first U-sheet pile.
[0034] Preferably, the second coupling means of the central sheet pile is designed to establish a positive connection, in particular a Larssen lock connection, with the first coupling means of the second U-shaped sheet pile. The coupling means are to be understood in particular as components of the sheet piles, whereby connections can be established using the coupling means.
[0035] It is particularly preferred that the connecting element has a rotation in the direction transverse to the longitudinal extent that is many times smaller than each of the sheet piles of the first or second sheet pile module.
[0036] Preferably, the connecting element has a substantially omega-shaped cross-section. A substantially omega-shaped cross-section is understood to mean, in particular, a cross-section shaped similarly to the initial letter omega (co).
[0037] It is particularly preferred that the central sheet pile extends in a direction transverse to the longitudinal extent from the first section of the central sheet pile along a middle section of the central sheet pile to the second section of the central sheet pile.
[0038] It is particularly preferred that the first section of the central sheet pile and the second section of the central sheet pile are arranged parallel to each other and parallel to a sheet pile module extension direction which is orthogonal to the driving direction, wherein the middle section of the central sheet pile is not arranged parallel to the first section of the central sheet pile and the second section of the central sheet pile.
[0039] A sheet pile module extension direction is understood to mean, in particular, a direction in which the respective sheet pile module extends transversely to the longitudinal extension. The sheet pile module extension direction thus extends orthogonally to the driving direction. The sheet pile module extension direction preferably runs along the neutral axis of the sheet pile module. In particular, the sheet pile module extension direction runs centrally through the central sheet pile and parallel to the first section and the second section of the central sheet pile. The sheet pile module extension direction can be parallel to the
[0040] sheet pile wall extension direction, but may also not be parallel to the
[0041] The sheet pile wall extension direction can be oriented depending on how the sheet pile arrangement is constructed. It is particularly preferred that the first U-shaped sheet pile extends in a direction transverse to the longitudinal extension from the first section of the first U-shaped sheet pile along a central section of the first U-shaped sheet pile to the second section of the first U-shaped sheet pile.
[0042] Preferably, the second U-sheet pile extends in a direction transverse to the longitudinal extent from the first section of the second U-sheet pile along a middle section of the second U-sheet pile to the second section of the second U-sheet pile.
[0043] It is particularly preferred that no further sheet pile be arranged between the first sheet pile module and the second sheet pile module. However, a connecting element may be arranged between the first and second sheet pile modules.
[0044] It is particularly preferred that the first U-shaped sheet pile and the second U-shaped sheet pile are both curved inward, i.e., curved toward a centerline that runs parallel to the direction of extension of the sheet pile module and centrally through the central sheet pile. Such an arrangement enables the installation of a particularly narrow sheet pile wall.
[0045] It is particularly preferred that the first U-shaped sheet pile and the second U-shaped sheet pile are both curved outward, i.e., curved away from a centerline that runs parallel to the sheet pile module extension direction and centrally through the central sheet pile. Such an arrangement enables the installation of an arrangement with a particularly high section modulus.
[0046] It is particularly preferred that the second U-sheet pile of the first sheet pile module and the first U-sheet pile of the second sheet pile module are arranged mirror-symmetrically or point-symmetrically with respect to a plane extending parallel to the longitudinal extent and orthogonally to the sheet pile module extension direction.
[0047] Preferably, in a mirror-symmetrical arrangement, a connecting element is arranged between the first and second sheet pile modules. Preferably, in a point-symmetrical arrangement, no connecting element is arranged between the first and second sheet pile modules.
[0048] It is particularly preferred that the sheet pile arrangement comprises a third sheet pile module connected to the second sheet pile module, and preferably further sheet pile modules.
[0049] Preferably, the sheet pile arrangement comprises more than three sheet pile modules which are connected to one another directly and / or by means of connecting elements.
[0050] According to a further aspect of the invention, the object mentioned at the outset is achieved by a sheet pile wall comprising a plurality of sheet pile arrangements arranged next to one another and connected to one another as described here, wherein the sheet pile arrangements are preferably each connected to one another by means of connecting elements.
[0051] According to a further aspect of the invention, the object mentioned at the outset is achieved by using a sheet pile arrangement as described here as a component of a sheet pile wall, in particular a sheet pile wall as described here, wherein the sheet pile wall is preferably set up in a subsoil.
[0052] For the advantages, design variants and design details of the various aspects of the solutions described here and their respective possible further developments, reference is also made to the description of the corresponding features, details and advantages of the other aspects and their further developments.

Fig. 1 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of a sheet pile module 1a, 1b with outwardly curved U-shaped sheet piles. The sheet pile module 1a, 1b has exactly three sheet piles 10, 20, 30. The sheet pile module 1a, 1b extends orthogonally to the driving direction E in a sheet pile module extension direction S.
[0069] The sheet pile module 1a, 1b comprises a central sheet pile 10, which is designed as a Z-shaped sheet pile. The central sheet pile 10 has a longitudinal extension running parallel to the driving direction E and orthogonal to the plane of the drawing. A first coupling means 10a extending along the longitudinal extension is arranged on a first section 10b of the central sheet pile 10. A second coupling means 10e extending along the longitudinal extension is arranged on a second section 10d of the central sheet pile 10. The second U-shaped sheet pile 30 extends in a direction transverse to its longitudinal extension from a first section 30b, at the end of which the first coupling means 30a is arranged, along a central section 30c to a second section 30d, at the end of which the second coupling means 30e is arranged.
[0074] All coupling means 20a, 20e, 10a, 10e, 30a, 30e of the sheet piles 10, 20, 30 shown here are designed to produce an interlock connection, in particular a Larssen interlock connection.
[0075] Fig. 2 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of three interconnected sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c. The sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c are each designed as shown in Fig. 1 and described in connection with Fig. 1. The sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c each extend along a
[0076] Sheet pile module extension direction S, which in the arrangement shown here is the same for all three sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c. Here, the sheet pile module extension direction S is arranged parallel to the sheet pile wall extension direction R, along which a sheet pile wall constructed from these sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c extends.
[0077] The first sheet pile module 1 a and the second sheet pile module 1 b are connected to one another by means of a connecting element 40 and are aligned with one another in such a way that the first sheet pile module 1 a and the second sheet pile module 1 b are arranged mirror-symmetrically to a plane E1 which runs parallel to the driving direction E and orthogonal to the sheet pile module extension direction S.
[0078] The second sheet pile module 1 b and the third sheet pile module 1 c are also arranged mirror-symmetrically to a plane E2, which runs parallel to the driving direction E and orthogonal to the sheet pile module extension direction S.
[0079] Fig. 3 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of three interconnected sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c with outwardly curved U-sheet piles 20, 30 in a second arrangement. The sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c are each designed as shown in Fig. 1 and described in connection with Fig. 1. The sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c each extend along a sheet pile module extension direction S, which in the arrangement shown here runs parallel but spaced from one another for all three sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c. Here, the sheet pile module extension directions S are not arranged parallel to the sheet pile wall extension direction R, along which a sheet pile wall constructed from these sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c extends. The first sheet pile module 1 a and the second sheet pile module 1 b are directly connected to one another by means of a positive connection between the second coupling means 30e of the second U-sheet pile 30 of the first sheet pile module 1 a and the first coupling means 20a of the first U-sheet pile 20 of the second sheet pile module 1 b.
[0080] The first sheet pile module 1 a and the second sheet pile module 1 b are aligned with each other in such a way that the first sheet pile module 1 a and the second sheet pile module 1 b are arranged point-symmetrically with respect to the plane E1, which runs parallel to the driving direction E and orthogonal to the sheet pile module extension direction S.

[0082] The second sheet pile module 1 b and the third sheet pile module 1 c are aligned with each other such that the second sheet pile module 1 b and the third sheet pile module 1 c are arranged point-symmetrically with respect to the plane E2, which runs parallel to the driving direction E and orthogonal to the sheet pile module extension direction S.
[0083] Fig. 4 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of a sheet pile module 1a, 1b with outwardly curved U-sheet piles without a connecting element between the first U-sheet pile 20 and the central sheet pile 10. The structure is similar to the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, although in the sheet pile module shown in Fig. 4, in contrast to the structure shown in Fig. 1, no connecting element is provided between the central sheet pile 10 and the first U-sheet pile 20. Instead, the first U-sheet pile 20 has two coupling elements 20a, 20e rotated by 180° to one another. In addition, the second U-sheet pile 30 has two coupling elements 30a, 30e rotated by 180° to one another. Furthermore, the U-sheet piles 20, 30 are somewhat different here than in Fig.1, in that the first section 20b, 30b and the second section 20d, 30d each have a subsection 20x, 20y, 30x, 30y running parallel to the sheet pile module extension direction S. Fig. 5 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of a sheet pile module with inwardly curved U-shaped sheet piles 20, 30. The sheet pile module 1a, 1b has exactly three sheet piles 10, 20, 30. The sheet pile module 1a, 1b extends orthogonally to the driving direction E in a sheet pile module extension direction S.
[0084] The sheet pile module 1a, 1b comprises a central sheet pile 10, which is designed as a Z-shaped sheet pile. The central sheet pile 10 has a longitudinal extension running parallel to the driving direction E. A first coupling means 10a extending along the longitudinal extension is arranged on a first section 10b of the central sheet pile 10. A second coupling means 10e extending along the longitudinal extension is arranged on a second section 10d of the central sheet pile 10.
[0085] The sheet pile module 1 a, 1 b also comprises a first U-sheet pile 20 and a second U-sheet pile 30, which are designed as described in connection with Fig. 1, but in contrast to the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, are oriented inwardly curved in the arrangement shown in Fig. 5.
[0086] All coupling means 20a, 20e, 10a, 10e, 30a, 30e of the sheet piles 10, 20, 30 shown here are designed to produce an interlock connection, in particular a Larssen interlock connection.
[0087] The first U-sheet pile 20 is connected to the central sheet pile 10 by means of a connecting element 40.
[0088] Fig. 6 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of three interconnected sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c with inwardly curved U-shaped sheet piles 20, 30 in a first arrangement. The sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c are each designed as shown in Fig. 5 and described in connection with Fig. 5. The sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c each extend along a sheet pile module extension direction S, which is the same for all three sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c in the arrangement shown here. The sheet pile module extension direction S is arranged here parallel to the sheet pile wall extension direction R, along which a sheet pile wall constructed from these sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c extends.
[0089] The first sheet pile module 1 a and the second sheet pile module 1 b are connected to one another by means of a connecting element 40 and are aligned with one another in such a way that the first sheet pile module 1 a and the second sheet pile module 1 b are arranged mirror-symmetrically to a plane E1 which runs parallel to the driving direction E and orthogonal to the sheet pile module extension direction S.
[0090] The second sheet pile module 1 b and the third sheet pile module 1 c are also arranged mirror-symmetrically to each other with respect to a plane E2, which runs parallel to the driving direction E and orthogonal to the sheet pile module extension direction S.
[0091] Fig. 7 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of three interconnected sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c with inwardly curved U-shaped sheet piles 20, 30 in a second arrangement. The sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c are each designed as shown in Fig. 5 and described in connection with Fig. 5. The sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c each extend along a sheet pile module extension direction S, which, in the arrangement shown here, are aligned parallel but spaced apart from each other for all three sheet pile modules 1 a, 1 b, 1 c.
