Description

[0001] A HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE TABLE

[0002] Background of the invention

[0003] The invention relates to a heigh adjustable table. Such tables have been known for quite a while. Raising and lowering of the tabletops of these tables may typically be applied by means of linear actuators. Such tables may be less than visually appealing, but they may also be expensive to make, in particular in relation to security and stable guidance when the table is raised or lowered.

[0004] A variant of such well-known height adjustable tables are disclosed in US 2017 / 0360189 Al. The document thus discloses a table having a height-adjustable table top suspended in supporting structures by means of individual adjustable bands.

[0005] A challenge related to the disclosed table is that the table top requires careful adjustment, which in itself may be very challenging, but also that the table top, when adjusted may be fragile to non-uniform load on the table top. Moreover, even when adjusted correctly, may be extremely difficult or impossible to move up and down while maintaining the desired horizontal position.

[0006] Summary of the invention

[0007] The invention relates to at height adjustable table comprising a tabletop (TAT) and a support structure (SUS), the tabletop being suspended in the support structure (SUS) by means of a flexible sheet arrangement (FSA) comprising at least one flexible sheet (FS), the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA) having a first flexible sheet end (FFSE) and a second flexible sheet end (SFSE), the first flexible sheet end (FFSE) and the second flexible sheet end (SFSE) being mounted to the support structure (SUS) and at least a part of the at least one flexible sheet (FS) being windable on a sheet roller system (SRS), the sheet roller system (SRS) being mounted on at least the support structure and / or the tabletop. An advantage of using the flexible sheet arrangement, e.g. a textile, is that the tabletop may be suspended in the flexible sheet in an easily adjustable fashion, as the attachment of the flexible sheet ends to the support structure may be made not only in a few single points but by continuous attachment of e.g. the entire width og the flexible sheet or at least in a plurality of suspension point carrying the main weight of the tabletop.

[0008] In the present context a width of the flexible sheet may be understood as designating the width of a flexible sheet at one end of a table top being either the sole carrier at the end of the table top, or it may designate the width of two or more flexible sheets carrying the table top at one end of the table top. It should be noted that the stabilization obtained be using one or more sheets as carriers for the table top may of course only have a stabilizing effect insofar the width of the flexible sheet is higher than a certain value determined by e.g. the size, geometry, type and weight of the table. Given the directions envisaged herein, it will be possible for the skilled person to determine whether it is possible to suspend the table top in more than one sheet and it may also be possible for the skilled person to determine a suitable width of the one or more sheets.

[0009] In an advantageous embodiments, sheets should have a width of at least 2 cm or more. In an embodiment the width of the sheet approximates the depth of the table top of the table top.

[0010] In an embodiment, the width of the sheet is greater than 3 cm, such as greater than 5 cm, such as greater than 10 cm, such as greater than 20 cm, such as greater than 30 cm, such as greater than 40 cm.

[0011] Again, it should be noted that the width of the sheet(s) may be applied for obtaining the desired stability in a very easy way for a table top which is relatively easy to adjust and likewise to keep the desired adjustment when the table top is raised an lowered. This is explained elsewhere in the application. Moreover, it is also noted that the use of a flexible sheet of a certain width facilitate motorizing the lowering and raising of the table top as the lowering and raising of the table top may be obtained by even one motor and little or a very simple mechanical exchange of force if multiple sheets are used.

[0012] Moreover, it should be noted that the flexible sheet arrangement may moreover move in a predictable manner, as the sheet structure by nature ensures that the flexible sheet(s) winds onto the roller in the same and predictable manner every time the roller winds and unwinds the flexible sheet. This also means that the height of the tabletop in both side ends may be designed to be at an acceptable and predictable level during (and after) raising and lowering of the tabletop.

[0013] It is moreover noted that the flexible sheet, e.g. the textile, is by itself forming a guiding structure ensuring that winding and unwinding is as little affected by tabletop load as possible, as the “rigidity” in the transverse direction of the flexible sheet will counteract tilting / deformation of the flexible sheet.

[0014] In an embodiment, said first flexible sheet end (FFSE) is mechanically attached to a first upper fixation perimeter (FUFP) of the support structure (SUS) and where said second flexible sheet end (SFSE) is mechanically attached to a second upper fixation perimeter (SUFP) of the support structure (SUS).

[0015] By attaching the flexible sheet ends to the first and second upper fixation perimeter, it may be possible to establish a secure and reliable fixation of the suspension of the tabletop involving a minimum of tilt.

[0016] In an embodiment, said first flexible sheet end (FFSE) is mechanically attached to a first upper fixation perimeter (FUFP) of the support structure (SUS) and where said second flexible sheet end (SFSE) is mechanically attached to a second upper fixation perimeter (SUFP) of the support structure (SUS) and wherein said attachments to the support structure are continuous attachments of the first and second sheets end (FFSE; SFSE) to the first and second upper fixation perimeter (FUFP; SUFP), respectively. In an embodiment, the sheet roller system (SRS) is electrically driven by an electrical motor and controlled by an associated controller (CON).

[0017] An electrically driven sheet roller system is obtainable e.g. by modified blinder drivers.

[0018] It should be noted that motorization may be relatively easy when the width of the flexible sheet is relatively significant, e.g. more than 50% of the depth of the table top.

[0019] The width of the flexible sheet(s) may in different embodiments be within the range of 10cm to 100cm, such as 20 cm to 90 cm, such as 30 cm to 80.

[0020] In an embodiment, the sheet roller system (SRS) is formed by a sheet roller (SR) and an optional associated electrical motor driving the sheet roller (SR) and wherein the sheet roller and the electrical motor is mounted to the tabletop (TAT).

[0021] By mounting the sheet roller, and optionally also the associated electoral motor on the tabletop and thereby raising and lowering the sheet roller system including the optional motor together with the tabletop, it is possible to establish a reliable raising and lowering of the tabletop by a single and discreet sheet roller system.

[0022] In an embodiment, the sheet roller system (SRS) is formed by a sheet roller (SR) and an optional associated electrical motor driving the sheet roller (SR) and wherein the sheet roller and the electrical motor is mounted to the tabletop (TAT) below the tabletop (TAT).

[0023] In an embodiment, the tabletop (TAT) comprises a front end (FE) a back end (BE) and two side ends (SE) and where the tabletop comprises a downwardly projecting screen (SCR) mechanically connected to the tabletop (TAT) at least at a front end (FE) of the tabletop (TAT). In an embodiment, the tabletop comprises a further downwardly projecting screen (SCR) mechanically connected to the tabletop (TAT) at the back end (BE) of the tabletop (TAT).

[0024] In an embodiment, the electrical motor driving the sheet roller is at least a 50W motor, such as at least a 75 W motor, such as at least a 100 W motor.

[0025] In an embodiment, the electrical motor driving the sheet roller has a torque of at least 5Nm, such as at least 8Nm, such as at least lONm, such as at least 15Nm, such as at least 20 Nm, such as at least 30 Nm.

[0026] In terms of applicable force and / or power consumption related to the roller and the associated roller motor, the torque should be enough to raise the tabletop to a desired position and preferably also keeping the tabletop in this position. An effective torque of the roller system may be between 5 to 20Nm, whereas more robust and fast systems may be obtained by a torque of e.g. between 25Nm and lOONm.

[0027] The torque should also be sufficient to raise and lower the tabletop to an intended position without too much delay. Excessive gearing of the motor may thus be undesired if it results in a high torque but too slow rotation of the sheet roller

[0028] A max pulling force of the roller system may e.g. be between 20kg to 200 kg.

[0029] In an embodiment, the electrical motor is powered by the mains such as a 110V, 220V, 240V electrical power grid.

[0030] In an embodiment, the electrical motor is powered by a battery.

[0031] In an embodiment, the sheet roller (SR) is manually operated and activated. In an embodiment, the sheet roller is mounted below the tabletop at a centered position in a direction from the front end (FE) to the back end (BE), and wherein a center of the sheet roller is equidistant to the two side ends (SE).

[0032] In an embodiment, the sheet roller is mounted below the tabletop substantially parallel with the side ends (SE) of the tabletop (TAT) at an asymmetrical position with respect to the side ends (SE) of the tabletop.

[0033] In an embodiment, the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA) comprises at least two (roller oriented) sheet ends (SHE) mechanically engaged to a sheet roller (SR) of said sheet roller system (SRS) and wherein the sheet roller and the electrical motor is mounted to the tabletop (TAT) below the tabletop (TAT).

[0034] In an embodiment, the sheet ends (SHE) are located at the roller and where the at least one flexible sheet is projecting through said roller.

[0035] In an embodiment, the sheets ends (SHE) are defined by the sheet roller (SR) and where the at least one flexible sheet arrangement is formed by two separate flexible sheets each attached separately to the roller.

[0036] In an embodiment, the sheets ends (SHE) are defined by the roller and where the at least one flexible sheet arrangement is formed by one single sheet upon which the tabletop is suspended.

[0037] An advantage in applying a single flexible sheet for suspension of the tabletop is that the mechanical stress on the roller system is reduced compared to if the flexible sheet is divided in two separate sheets with sheet ends, each end being attached to the roller. If one sheet loosens from the roller, the tabletop may fall down. The only relevant mechanical stress to the system in a one-sheet roller system is to where the first flexible sheet end (FFSE) and the second flexible sheet end (SFSE) are mounted to the support structure. In an embodiment, the sheet roller system (SRS) further comprises a cover (COV) having a horizontal orientation.

[0038] In an embodiment, the tabletop (TAT) is arranged with edge guides (EG) at opposite ends of the tabletop (TAT), engaging the flexible textile in which the tabletop (TAT) is suspended. The edge guides, if stationery on the tabletop, should preferable be formed by a low friction material and / or be coated with a low-friction material. In the present context, “low friction” would relate to the mutual interaction with the flexible sheet and be able provide enough friction when the table top is lowered and raised but also to facilitate a stable support when the tabletop is a rest at an intended position.

[0039] In an embodiment, said edge guides (EG) comprise rollers.

[0040] In an embodiment, said edge guides comprise round profiles mounted at the side ends (SE) of the tabletop (TAT) and / or being formed in the table top and thereby being integrated with the table top as such.

[0041] In an embodiment, the edge guides mounted on the tabletop (TAT) projects in the horizontal direction to extend beyond the side ends (SE) of the tabletop by a horizontal distance (VDIST), such as at least 1 millimeter.

[0042] In an embodiment, the side ends of the table comprises wall elements (WAE) facing upwards, preferably extending along the complete side ends of the tabletop (TAT).

[0043] In an embodiment, the side ends of the table comprises wall elements (WAE) facing upwards, preferably extending along the complete width (WID) of the flexible sheet (FS).

[0044] In an embodiment, the flexible sheet(s) is / are a textile. In an embodiment, the at least one flexible sheet is provided with masks facilitating transmissions of light through it.

[0045] Application of a flexible sheet, e.g. a textile, including light passages or being semi translucent may provide a visually very impressive table, where the discretion required e.g. in relation to the environment of the table may be adjusted by adjustment of the transparency of the flexible sheet.

[0046] In an embodiment, the at least one flexible sheet is provided with perforations or patterns facilitating light transmission through the flexible sheet.

[0047] In an embodiment, the at least one flexible sheet is a non-stretch material.

[0048] In an embodiment, the flexible sheet(s) of the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA) has an elongation under load 20daN of less than 10%, such as less than 5%, such as less than 4%, such as less than 3% in the longitudinal direction.

[0049] The above referenced elongation under load is measured according to the EN ISO 1421 standard. Other standards may be applied, as long as the resulting stretch is kept low enough to ensure that even a relatively heavy tabletop may be securely suspended and also ensure that a user may use the table with minimum inconvenience for standard work- / use processes of the table.

[0050] In the present context, the longitudinal direction is understood as the length of the flexible sheet, and the transversal direction is understood as what would normally be referred to as the width of a material which is rolled up on a sheet roll.

[0051] In an embodiment, the at least one flexible sheet of the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA) has an elongation under load 20daN of less than 10%, such as less than 5%, such as less than 4%, such as less than 3% in the transverse direction. The above referenced elongation under load is measured according to the EN ISO 1421 standard. Other standards may be applied, as long as the resulting stretch is kept low enough to ensure that even a relatively heavy tabletop may be securely suspended and also ensure that a user may use the table with minimum inconvenience for standard work- / use processes of the table.

[0052] In an embodiment, the at least one flexible sheet is a textile having an elongation under load 20daN of less than 10%, such as less than 5%, such as less than 4%, such as less than 3% in the longitudinal direction.

[0053] The above referenced elongation under load is measured according to the EN ISO 1421 standard. Other standards may be applied, as long as the resulting stretch is kept low enough to ensure that even a relatively heavy tabletop may be securely suspended and also ensure that a user may use the table with minimum inconvenience for standard work- / use processes of the table.

[0054] In the present context, the longitudinal direction is understood as the length of the flexible sheet, and the transversal direction is understood as what would normally be referred to as the width of a material which is rolled up on a sheet roll.

[0055] In an embodiment, the at least one flexible sheet of the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA) is a textile having an elongation under load 20daN of less than 10%, such as less than 5%, such as less than 4%, such as less than 3% in the transverse direction.

[0056] In an embodiment, the at least one flexible sheet of the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA), such as a textile, has tensile strength in the longitudinal direction of at least 25 daN / 5cm, such as at least 50 daN / 5cm, such as a least 100 daN / 5cm, such as at least 150 daN / 5cm when measured according to EN ISO 1421. The tensile strength should be high enough to ensure that the flexible sheet is both bendable and can be winded on and off the sheet roller and at the same ensuring that a tabletop of some weight can be securely suspended in the flexible sheet.

[0057] The above referenced elongation under load is measured according to the EN ISO 1421 standard. Other standards may be applied, as long as the resulting stretch is kept low enough to ensure that even a relatively heavy tabletop may be securely suspended and also ensure that a user may use the table with minimum inconvenience for standard work- / use processes of the table.

[0058] In the present context, the longitudinal direction is understood as the length of the flexible sheet and the transversal direction is understood as what would normally be referred to as the width of a material which is rolled up on a sheet roll.

[0059] In an embodiment, the at least one flexible sheet of the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA), such as a textile, has an elongation under load 20daN of less than 10%, such as less than 5%, such as less than 4%, such as less than 3% in the transverse direction.

[0060] In an embodiment, the tabletop (TAT) is further locked to the support structure to at least one slider of the support structure (SUS) facilitating a sliding in the vertical direction and thereby locking the tabletop in the horizontal direction of the tabletop.

[0061] By applying at least one sliding fixture between the support structure and the tabletop, it is possible in a simple way to minimize sideways movements of the tabletop.

[0062] In an embodiment, the tabletop weighs less than 50 kilogram, such as below 40 kilogram, such as below 30 kilogram.

[0063] By keeping the weight below 50 kilograms or lower, it is possible to reduce possible impact on a user if the tabletop is unintentionally lowered too much and thereby engaging the user’s legs. In a conventional actuator based implementation of a height adjustable table, it may be a little complex to protect the user’s legs against engagement with the legs, whereas the present tabletop may be designed to affect the user’s legs (or whatever may be situated under the table, such as kids, dogs, etc.) with a maximum force of what the weight of the tabletop may provide.

[0064] In an embodiment, the first flexible sheet end (FFSE) and / or the second flexible sheet end (SFSE) comprises first and second coupling members (FCM; SCM), respectively, and wherein the flexible sheet end (FFSE) and the second flexible sheet end (SFSE) are attached to the support structure (SUS) by means of said first and second coupling members (FCM; SCM), respectively. First and second coupling members (FCM; SCM) may also in this application be referred to as attachment members (AMEM).

[0065] The overall point of providing the flexible sheet with a coupling member, is that it is possible to perform a calibration of the tabletop by design. If the sheet ends of the roller are made with these from birth of, and the roller system is mounted correctly to the tabletop, the calibration (no inclination of the tabletop - unless this for some reason is desired) of the tabletop is obtained by design. This is in particular relevant if the tabletop needs to be flat-packed and assembled at an end-point where specialists are not necessarily available. Please also note that a bad calibration of the particular tabletop design could otherwise easily be flawed, if the flexible sheets were to be attached by a simple and non-guided fastening.

[0066] In an embodiment, the first flexible sheet end (FFSE) and / or the second flexible sheet end (SFSE) of the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA) comprises first and second coupling members (FCM; SCM), respectively, and wherein the first flexible sheet end (FFSE) and the second flexible sheet end (SFSE) are attached to the support structure (SUS) by means of said first and second coupling members (FCM; SCM) and respective coupling members on the support structure.

[0067] In an embodiment, the first and second coupling members facilitate an attachment to the support structure with a tolerance of less than 20 millimeter, such as less than 15 millimeter, such as less than 10 millimeter, such as less than 5 millimeter, such as less than 15 millimeter.

[0068] In an embodiment, the at least one flexible sheet, or preferably the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA) has a width (WID) of 5 to 300% of the depth (DEP) of the tabletop (TAT), such as 50 to 150% of the depth (DEP) of the tabletop (TAT), such as 75 to 125% of the depth (DEP) of the tabletop (TAT).

[0069] In an embodiment, the side ends (SE) of the tabletop (TAT) are substantially parallel with an axis of the sheet roller (SR) and the attachment of the at least one flexible sheet (FS) to the support structure (SUS).

[0070] In an embodiment, the side ends (SE) of the tabletop (TAT) are substantially parallel with an axis of the sheet roller (SR) and the attachment to the support structure (SUS) defined by the first and second upper fixation perimeter (FUFP; SUFP).

[0071] Moreover, the invention relates to a method of raising or lowering a tabletop (TAT) of a height adjustable table, the tabletop (TAT) being suspended in a flexible sheet arrangement (FSA) comprising at least one flexible sheet (FS), wherein the tabletop (TAT) is raised by winding said at least one flexible sheet (FS) onto at least one sheet roller (SR) and wherein the tabletop (TAT) is lowered by unwinding the at least one flexible sheet (FS) of the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA).

[0072] In an embodiment, the tabletop is raised, lowered or maintained at a chosen height by means of an electrically driven motor and controlled by an associated controller (CON).

[0073] In an embodiment, the tabletop is raised, lowered or maintained at a chosen height by means of an manually driven winding and unwinding of said at least one sheet roller (SR). In an embodiment, the height adjustable table is provided according to any of the claims 1-46.

[0074] In the above summary of the invention, the phrase “In an embodiment” refers to features which may be implemented within the scope of the claims eventually granted by a relevant patent authority considering the applicable equivalence practice of the relevant jurisdiction covered by the patent.

[0077] Detailed description

[0078] Fig.l illustrates a height adjustable table TAB according to an embodiment of the invention. The table TAB comprises a tabletop TAT and the tabletop TAT is suspended or resting in a flexible sheet arrangement FSA. The Flexible sheet FSA has a first flexible sheet end FFSE and a second flexible sheet end SFSE.

[0079] The first flexible sheet end FFSE and the second flexible sheet end SFSE are mounted to a support structure SUS in to a first and second upper fixation perimeter FUFP; SUFP, respectively.

[0080] The flexible sheet(s) FS is / are windable on a sheet roller system SRS (not shown) and the sheet roller system SRS is in the present embodiment mounted below the tabletop TAT and will thus be elevated or lowered together with the tabletop TAT. The sheet roller system SRS in the present embodiment comprises a roller winding and unwinding the flexible sheet(s) driven by a motor. The motor is controlled by a controller and powered by a power supply. Different implementations within the scope of the sheet roller system will be explained further below in relation to the figures or is elaborated on in relation to the claims.

[0081] The tabletop TAT has a front end FE and a backend BE and a depth indicated by the arrow DEP and two side ends SE.

[0082] The tabletop has a downwardly projecting screen SCR mechanically connected to the tabletop TAT at the front end FE and visually covering the sheet roller system SRS.

[0083] The sheet roller system SRS and different alternative possible sheet roller systems will be explained further below.

[0084] The flexible sheet FS of the flexible sheet arrangement FSA has a width indicated by the arrow WID. In the illustrated embodiment, the width WID of the flexible sheet FS approximates the depth DEP of the tabletop TAT. Other relations may be applied within the scope of the invention. The tabletop TAT may have a depth DEP which is longer than the width WID of the flexible sheet FS, or the tabletop TAT may have a depth DEP which is shorter than the width WID of the flexible sheet FS.

[0085] In the specifically illustrated embodiment, the flexible sheet(s) of the flexible sheet arrangement FSA is substantially having a width corresponding to the depth of the tabletop. It may also be possible to use e.g. a roller winding and unwinding two separate sheets (or four if these are individually connected to the sheet roller SR). In this way, the sheets may be positioned at opposite ends of a shared sheet holder and the resulting four ends facing the support structure may be fastened in four separate fixation perimeters of the support structure, thereby allowing a different visual appearance of the flexible sheets in which the tabletop is suspended, but also making it possible by design or adjustment to tilt the table in the depth direction while minimizing or avoiding a resulting negative impact on the winding and unwinding.

[0086] The illustrated embodiment and the below disclosed embodiment may further optionally comprise a guide structure established between the lower end of the support structure and the table top, e.g. the legs, covering all or most of the vertical distance the tabletop is intended to “travel”. This may e.g. by be obtained through the use of a sliding rail (or a number of these) mounted on the support structure coworking with engaging parts on the table top (or geometrically structures formed integrally in the tabletop) for keeping the table top from wobbling or moving from its intended horizontal position both when lowered or raised, but also when the tabletop is used in a vertically stationery position by a user.

[0087] An alternative way of obtaining such horizontal “fixation” may also be the use of rings or other types of grippers being mounted on the table top of forming an integral part of the table top gripping to e.g. legs of the support structure at any point of desired elevation of the tabletop. If such a solution is chosen, the support structure should be able to cope with wear / load when the tabletop is moved vertically without showing signs of wear, as the support structure as such may be regarded an important feature of the finalized design. It should furthermore be noted that the support structure SUS above is shown with frame elements having square cross-section as an example, optionally supplemented with plates or other stabilization of support structure. The cross section of the support structure may have any form facilitating both reliable suspension of the table top but also facilitating the desired up / down movement of the table top. If the support structure is this constructed on the basis of frame elements, these may also be rounded in crosssection or they may in fact have any cross section the skilled person could ever imagine as long as it serves its required purpose.

[0088] The width of the flexible sheet(s) as explained elsewhere in the present application may vary depending on numbers of sheets in the specifically applied configuration, e.g. as illustrated in fig. 8A-C. In an embodiment designed as illustrated in fig. 1, assuming the configuration is made as disclosed in fig. 8B with two flexibles sheets FS attached and gathered to the sheet roller SR, the width of the flexible sheet is 660 mm. Other widths may be applied.

[0089] Fig. 2 illustrates further details of the table TAB of fig. 1 related to the adjustable tabletop TAT.

[0090] Fig. 2 thus shows the tabletop TAT suspended in a flexible sheet arrangement (FSA) comprising at least one flexible sheet FS. A first flexible sheet end FFSE and a second flexible sheet end SFSE are mounted to a support structure SUS in a first and second upper fixation perimeter FUFP; SUFP of a support structure (not shown).

[0091] In the present embodiment, a downwardly projection screen has either not been shown or is not present.

[0092] A sheet roller system SRS including a sheet roller (not shown) is shown for illustrative purpose with visually hidden associated motor, power supply, controller, etc. It can thus bee seen that the flexible sheet(s) of the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA) extends from above to below the tabletop TAT, thereby facilitating that the tabletop rests on the flexible sheet(s) FS of the flexible sheet arrangement (FSA). When the roller winds up the flexible sheet(s) FS, the tabletop is thus raised and when the roller unwinds, the tabletop will be lowered. It is noted that the flexible sheet arrangement FSA may be formed by one flexible sheet extending through the roller or alternatively be formed by two separate sheets, and where the sheet ends facing the roller are fastened to the roller e.g., or preferably at a fastening line at opposite sides of the roller (180 degrees). As shown in fig. 1, the width of the flexible sheet FS is indicated with the arrow WID, and the depth of the tabletop TAT is indicated with arrow DEP.

[0093] Note that the downwardly projecting screen SCR forming part of the tabletop TAT in fig. 1 has been omitted for illustrative purposes. The actual depth DEP of the tabletop TAT is a little deeper than the board of the TAT illustrated, as the depth of the tabletop would include the downwardly projecting screen SCR.

[0094] Fig. 3 illustrates a side view of the above table TAB in fig. 1 or 2 in more details with respect to advantageous features of implementations of the table.

[0095] The tabletop TAT is shown from a side view e.g. as seen from the front of the table and the tabletop TAT has two opposing side ends SE. Each side end has a downwardly facing edge guide, which is optional. Moreover, each side end may comprise wall elements WAE facing upwards, preferably extending along the complete side ends of the tabletop TAT.

[0096] The wall elements WAE may also extend along the complete width of the flexible sheet FS.

[0097] The wall elements WAE at both side ends SE of the tabletop TAT may serve the purpose of ensuring that materials or objects located on the table may be blocked from contacting the flexible sheet(s) (e.g. if coffee is spilt on the tabletop TAT, or e.g. blocking sheets of paper or other office gear from being grabbed or drawn between the flexible sheet and the sheet end in particular when the tabletop is lowered.

[0098] The wall element(s) may be integrated with the tabletop TAT or they may be attached as profiles to the tabletop TAT. Moreover, the wall elements may be integrated with edge guides EG.

[0099] Fig. 3 moreover shows a side view of the tabletop TAT suspended in a flexible sheet arrangement comprising at least one flexible sheet FS. The first flexible sheet end FFSE and the second flexible sheet end SFSE are mounted to a support structure SUS in a first and second upper fixation perimeter FUFP; SUFP of a support structure (not shown). The support structure is exemplified in fig. 1, but several other ways of implementing the support structure is applicable. The flexible sheet ends FFSE and SFSE may advantageously be formed with an integrated or attached rigid attachment member / profile AMEM facilitating easy attachment to the support structure e.g. by mutually aligned holes / fixtures, parts, locks ensuring the mutual locking is well- defined and reproducible without the use of special measuring equipment. Such an attachment member(s) AMEM is(are) hereby disclosed as optional , but advantageous features, which may also be applicable in any of the herein disclosed embodiments.

[0100] The above attachment members, which may also be referred to as first and second coupling members, may comprise metal, plastic, wood including any material which may be suitable for a reliable attachment of the flexible sheet, including the top attachment member(s) AMEM, to an associated support structure.

[0101] In the present embodiment, a downwardly projection screen has either not been shown or is not present.

[0102] A sheet roller SR of a sheet roller system SRS is shown for illustrative purpose without associated motor, power supply, controller, etc. It can thus be seen that the flexible sheet arrangement, here e.g. including the at least one flexible sheet(s) FS, extends below the tabletop TAT, thereby facilitating that the tabletop rests on the flexible sheet(s) FS of the flexible sheet arrangement. When the roller winds up the flexible sheet(s) FS, the tabletop is thus raised and when the roller unwinds, the tabletop will be lowered. It is noted that the flexible sheet FS may be formed by one flexible sheet extending through the roller, or alternatively be formed by two separate sheets and where the sheet ends SHE facing the roller is fastened to the roller e.g., or preferably at a fastening line at opposite sides of the roller (180 degrees).

[0103] In the illustrated embodiment, the tabletop TAT is formed with two downwardly projecting edge guides EG located at opposing side ends SE of the tabletop TAT.

[0104] Different ways of positioning the sheet roller(s) will be explained and disclosed in the below description.

[0105] Fig. 3A illustrates in the same sideview how the tabletop may be lowered when unwinding the flexible sheet(s) FS.

[0106] Fig. 3B illustrates in the same sideview how the tabletop may be raised when winding the flexible sheet(s) FS onto the sheet roller.

[0107] Fig. 4 illustrates cross section of details of a sheet roller system SRS attached to a tabletop e.g. applied in the embodiment illustrated in fig. 1, 2 or 3.

[0108] The illustrated cross-section illustrates a sheet roller system SRS comprising a sheet roller SR upon which at least one flexible sheet is attached. The flexible sheet may have two respective sheet end SHE. Each sheet end may be fixedly attached to the sheet roller SR, or each sheet end SHE may be formed of one single flexible sheet, e.g. projecting through the roller SR and where the flexible sheet engages the sheet roller SR directly by mechanical contact. In other words, the flexible sheet end SHE does not necessarily define the end(s) of the sheet, but rather the inner ends of the flexible sheet where the sheet may be wound and unwound to and from the roller, i.e. the transition in which the flexible sheet mechanically engages the sheet roller directly at one side and at another side is bendable and can be wound and unwound onto the sheet roller. In other and simple terms: a single flexible sheet may connect the two ends of the flexible sheet, the first flexible sheet end FFSE and the second flexible sheet end SFSE (not shown in this figure, but illustrated and explained in relation to fig. 1 and fig. 2) or the first flexible sheet end FFSE and the second flexible sheet end SFSE may be formed of two separate sheets each mechanically connected / fastened to the sheet roller. Using only one flexible sheet is advantageous as there is no risk that the tabletop can affect disengagement of the flexible sheet from the sheet roller.

[0109] The sheet roller SR is driven by an electrical motor ERM via an optional gear (not shown) and the electrical motor may be communicatively and / or electrically coupled to a controller CON and a power supply PS. The controller may wirelessly by operated by a user via a suitable user interface, such as a dedicated remote control, a user interface implemented as an app on a mobile device, e.g. communicating with the controller CON via Bluetooth. The user interface may also be operated by a wired interface. The power supply PS may be powered by a wired connection CABL to an AC grid, e.g. 110V, 220V / 240V as illustrated or this cable connection may be omitted applying a battery based power supply instead (not shown). It should be noted that a battery supply may e.g. be powered wholly or partly by solar cell and associated electronic circuitry.

[0110] The user interface may also be attached to the table facilitating easy operation by a user.

[0111] In the present embodiment, the tabletop has two downwardly facing screens SCR.

[0112] These screens will provide an attractive design feature hiding the sheet roller system SRS, but it may furthermore protect either a user against colliding with it or / and it may protect the sheet roller system from users colliding with the sheet roller system. The roller may and preferably during use be fixedly attached to the tabletop TAT by means of suitable fasteners. I might, however, also be attractive fixing the roller system to the tabletop TAT with a snap-lock facilitating easy attachment and detachment of the sheet roller system SRS to the tabletop TAT. In this way, at tabletop may easily be exchanged or alternatively, the roller system may easily be exchanged and detached by releasing the snap lock (not shown) between the sheet roller system SRS and the tabletop TAT and also detaching the first flexible sheet end FFSE and the second flexible sheet end SFSE from the support structure (not shown), and thereafter attaching another sheet roller system by fastening the first flexible sheet end FFSE and the second flexible sheet of end SFSE of the new flexible sheet of the new sheet roller system SRS and also attaching the sheet roller system to the tabletop.

[0113] The illustrated version of a sheet roller system is just one of many examples of applicable sheet roller systems within the scope of the invention and the illustrated embodiment may be combined with any suitable embodiments illustrated and explained herein, optionally modifying the relevant embodiments to fit the sheet roller system.

[0114] Fig. 5 A illustrates a principle drawing of a side end of a tabletop TAT e.g. of fig. 1. The tabletop TAT comprises an edge guide EG which may be attached to the tabletop TAT as indicated in the drawing or it may be integrated with the tabletop TAT. The edge guide may be a low friction member or low friction part of the tabletop facilitating an easy lowering and raising of the tabletop by keeping the friction between the flexible sheet and the tabletop TAT as little as possible, e.g. by using a low friction material for the edge guide and / or by establishing a spacing VDIST - an air gap - between the flexible sheet and the tabletop TAT.

[0115] Fig. 5B illustrates an alternative version of the principle of fig. 5A, where the an edge guide may be an integrated part of the table top TAT or as specifically shown in fig. 5B where an edge guide EG is formed as a curved fitting and where the shape is matched to the corresponding shape of the table TAT. Numerous other ways of implementing a reliable and durable side of the table top TAT facilitating and smooth sliding between the flexible sheet SH and the table top TAT (optionally including fittings as the disclosed edge guide EG) may be applied. The skilled person may realize this make modifications to the illustrated embodiments in the above figures based on the disclosure and explanations in the present application.

[0116] Furthermore, in the illustrated embodiment of fig. 5B a wall elements WAE facing upwards, preferably extending along the complete side ends of the tabletop TAT.

[0117] As described elsewhere, the wall elements WAE may also extend along the complete width of the flexible sheet FS.

[0118] With added reference to fig. 3, the wall elements WAE at both side ends SE of the tabletop TAT may serve the purpose of ensuring that materials or objects located on the table may be blocked from contacting the flexible sheet(s) (e.g. if coffee is spilt on the tabletop TAT, or e.g. blocking sheets of paper or other office gear from being grabbed or drawn between the flexible sheet and the sheet end in particular when the tabletop is lowered.

[0119] The wall element(s) may be integrated with the tabletop TAT or they may be attached as profiles to the tabletop TAT as illustrated in fig. 5B. Moreover, the wall elements may be integrated with edge guides EG.

[0120] Fig. 6 shows a bottom inclined view of an embodiment of the invention where a sheet roller system, e.g. as explained wholly or partly in relation to any of the previous and following figures, has been partly covered by a cover COV. The sheet roller system, including motor and associated drive, motor, controller, whatever, cannot be visually seen in the illustrated embodiment as it is partly screened by the cover COV, but the cover still facilitates winding and unwinding of the at least one flexible sheet FS of the flexible sheet arrangement FSA onto and from the sheet roller (not shown).

[0121] Moreover, it is noted that the fact that the part of the sheet (to the left of the drawing) winding on and off the sheet roller along an substantially upper tangential periphery of the roller facilitates that a connector box COB with a number of plugs PLU may be mounted to the tabletop TAT and or the sheet drive system facilitating that e.g. one or more power supply cables may be coupled to the sheet drive system and / or a power strip, and e.g. to physical LAN connectors, mobile device chargers etc. by the plugs PLU of the connector box COB. Such power strip or the sheet roller system may be powered by a power cable (not shown) connecting the motor drive of the sheet roller system to the mains (e.g. 110V 220V / 240V) directly or via a transf ormer / converter (not shown).

[0122] Moreover, two downwardly projecting screens SCR covers the sheet roller system SRS at the front end and at the back end of the tabletop TAT.

[0123] Fig. 7A illustrates a further embodiment within the scope of the invention where a tabletop is suspended in a flexible sheet arrangement of two separate flexible sheets FS. These flexible sheets FS are suspended in upper end in a support structure (not shown) and where each flexible sheet FS is separately wound or unwound when the tabletop TAT is to be raised or lowered, respectively. It is noted that the illustrated embodiment would require two separate motor drives and the motor drives should be carefully calibrated or designed to ensure that the winding and unwinding are synchronized in both ends thereby avoiding tilting of the tabletop during or after winding / unwinding.

[0124] In the present embodiment, the two sheet rollers SR and associated sheet roller systems are attached to the tabletop TAT.

[0125] Fig. 7B illustrates a further embodiment within the scope of the invention where a tabletop TAT is suspended in a flexible sheet arrangement of only one flexible sheet FS designed to be able to wind and unwind on two sheet rollers SR. The sheet rollers SR are attached to a support structure SUS. It is noted that the illustrated embodiment would require two separate motor drives and the motor drives should be carefully calibrated or designed to ensure that the winding and unwinding are synchronized in both ends thereby avoiding tilting of the tabletop during or after winding / unwinding. In the present embodiment, the two sheet rollers SR and associated sheet roller systems are attached to the support system SUS.

[0126] Fig. 8A illustrates a cross section of an embodiment of a sheet roller SR engaging a flexible sheet FS of a flexible sheet arrangement. In the present embodiment the flexible sheet FS has a first flexible sheet end FFSE and second flexible sheet end SFSE (not shown) for attachment to a support structure (not shown). The flexible sheet extends through the sheet roller SR as indicated by the dashed part of the line and thereby a reliable and secure suspension of a tabletop may be obtained. The flexible sheet is thus in one piece and may preferably by fastened or squeezed by the sheet roller such that the sheet progressing through the sheet roller will remain its relative position through the sheet roller during winding and unwinding of the flexible sheet.

[0127] Fig. 8B illustrates a cross section of an embodiment of a sheet roller SR engaging two separate flexible sheets FS of a flexible sheet arrangement. In the present embodiment, the flexible sheets FS has a first flexible sheet end FFSE and second flexible sheet end SFSE (not shown) for attachment to a support structure (not shown). The flexible sheets FS are both attached to the sheet roller SR at opposite sides (180 degrees) of the sheet roller in mechanical fastenings FAS extending along part of the length of the sheet roller SR or along the approximately the entire length of the sheet roller SR.

[0128] Fig. 8C illustrates a cross section of an embodiment of a sheet roller SR engaging a flexible sheet FS. In the present embodiment, the flexible sheet FS has a first flexible sheet end FFSE and second flexible sheet end SFSE (not shown) for attachment to a support structure (not shown). The flexible sheet in this embodiment is in one piece but forms a sleeve in which the sheet roller SR is positioned. The sleeve may e.g. be formed by a gathering GAT of two sheet lines, e.g. by means of stitching of the flexible sheet if it is a textile. The sheet roller SR and the flexible sheet formed in one piece thus form a reliable and secure suspension of a tabletop in a suspension structure primarily relying on the reliability of the strength of the flexible sheet itself and the fastening of the flexible sheet to the support structure. The sleeve and thereby the part of the flexible sheet directly mechanically engaging the sheet roller SR should be engaging the roller in such a way that the flexible sheet does not slip when the sheet roller rotates.

[0129] Fig. 9 illustrates a further feature of an embodiment within the scope of the invention, where a flexible sheet arrangement has a first flexible sheet end FFSE and second flexible sheet end SFSE for attachment to a support structure (not shown). The system structure corresponds to that of the system exemplified in fig. 3 and the references of that drawing corresponds to the reference of the present fig. 9 unless otherwise stated. The flexible sheet is windably engaging a sheet roller SR and the flexible sheet(s) FS has different parts with different properties, two flexible sheet parts 92 being optimized for visual appearance, strength and e.g. other relevant parameters to be at least moderately bendable when the tabletop is raised or lowered. Other flexible sheet parts 91 are optimized for the more aggressive bending required around the sheet roller SR.

[0130] Other different properties of the flexible sheet may be applied within the scope of the invention.

[0131] This differentiation of flexible sheet type, thickness, structure, etc. makes it possible to optimize e.g. strength, desired properties, visual appearance, etc.

[0132] Fig, 10A and 10B illustrate advantageous features of a roller driving two ends of a flexible sheet arrangement comprising at least one flexible sheet FS, a first flexible sheet end FFSE and second flexible sheet end SFSE (not shown). As it can be seen, the winding performed in fig. 10B relative to fig. 10A will result in a geometrically determined synchronous winding and unwinding relative to the first flexible sheet end FFSE and the second flexible sheet end SFSE and thereby keep optional tilting of a tabletop suspended in the flexible sheet during and after winding and unwinding at a low or even zero level as indicated by the arrows DI and DI, showing that the length of the flexible sheet to the left and to the right of the sheet roller is approximately the same.

[0133] This is of course under the condition the side ends of the tabletop (not shown) are substantially parallel with the axis of the sheet roller and the attachment of the flexible sheet to the support structure.

[0134] Fig. 11 illustrates a further embodiment of the invention, largely corresponding e.g. to fig. 3, but where the sheet roller SR is placed asymmetrically under the tabletop.

[0135] Both side ends SE of the tabletop TAT are here substantially parallel with the axis (not shown) of the sheet roller SR and the attachment of the flexible sheet to the support structure at the first flexible sheet end FFSE and the second flexible sheet end SFSE.

[0136] It should be noted that the above embodiments in figs. 2-11, the illustrated flexible sheet FS is preferably being in a support structure SUS even if this is not specifically shown in the drawing. The support structure SUS may be a structure intended to be placed on a relevant surface, such as a floor. This is preferred but alternatively, the support structure may also e.g. be mounted to a wall or ceiling as long as a user can attractively access and use the tabletop for its intended purpose.

[0137] Flexibility of a sheet in the present context of the present invention is the capability of a flexible sheet, e.g. fibers of a sheet, to bend easily and repeatedly without breaking. A flexible fiber such as acetate can be made into a highly drapable fabric and garment. A rigid fiber such as glass, which is not used in apparel but can be found in draperies, usually makes a fabric that is relatively stiff.

[0138] Examples of flexible sheet material may thus include, but are not limited to specialty acrylic sheet, polycarbonate sheet, high-density polyethylene, kydex thermoplastic sheet, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, etc. It is noted that such sheets are only applicable to the extent that the tabletop is securely suspended in the flexible sheet in question and that the flexible sheet is able to be winded onto the sheet roller or unwound from the sheet roller by application of manual or motor force.

[0139] In the present context, a flexible sheet applied in embodiment s) of the invention may also thus include a textile which is bendable.

[0140] In such a context, a textile to be used in an embodiment of the invention is a flexible material made by creating an interlocking network of yarns or threads, which are produced by spinning raw fibers into long and twisted lengths. Textiles are then formed by weaving, knitting, crocheting, knotting, tatting, felting, bonding, or braiding these yarns together.

[0141] A further advantageous feature of an applicable flexible sheet is to keep the elasticity lower than a practical limit, thereby avoiding that the tabletop is wobbling or moving up and down depending on the actual load on the tabletop. Furthermore, it might also be advantageous to apply a low-stretch material to avoid unintentional and uncontrolled vertical positioning of the tabletop.

[0142] As used herein, the term textile is understood as a polymeric material that may comprise origin from both natural and synthetic fibers. Hence, the material may origin from both natural and unnatural sources. Examples of natural materials may include cotton, wool, hemp, kapok, sisal, jute, flax, kenaf and ramie. Examples of synthetic materials may include nylon, modacrylic, olefin, acrylic polyester and neoprene.

[0143] One example of several applicable flexibles sheet(s) in the form of a textile which may be applied in embodiments of the invention include the outdoor Batyline textile from Serge Ferrari, such as Batyline Iso 7407, Batyline Iso FR 7407, Batyline Panam TSR1, Batyline Duo 7300, Batyline Duo FR 7300FR, Batyline Twist 7301, Batyline Lounge 7720FR or Batyline Lounge 7721WP. The Batyline 7407 may e.g. exhibit a tensile strength (warp / weft) of 240 / 240 daN / 5 cm according to the EN ISO 1421 and elongation under load 20daN (Warp / weft) of less than 2.5% according to the EN ISO 1421 standard.
