Description

[0001] The present invention relates to an air extraction box and a method for installing the air extraction box.

[0002] Two air extraction units from the same range are known. Each unit is used to extract air from a building, typically placed on a terrace, roof, in a technical room, or in the attic, and connected to the building's air extraction system via a duct. Each unit consists of a compartment containing a motor and a compartment containing a fan-wheel assembly, separated from the other compartment by a partition.

[0003] An output shaft from the motor, parallel to the wheel axis, drives the wheel's rotation via a belt passing through the bulkhead. For each of the two housings, an inlet for extracted airflow is provided at one end, opening into the compartment containing the wheel-volute assembly. For one of the two housings, an outlet for extracted airflow is provided at a second end, on the motor compartment side, and is connected to an outlet on the volute so that, as the wheel rotates, the extracted airflow admitted through the inlet is expelled from the housing through the outlet located axially opposite to the inlet. The first housing is therefore suitable for a so-called "horizontal discharge" installation, where the inlet and outlet of the extracted airflow are axially opposed and horizontal. For the second unit, the outlet is located on the roof rather than at the far end. This second unit is therefore suitable for a "vertical discharge" installation. Depending on the configuration of the air extraction system and the available space for installing the unit, the installer chooses to install either the horizontal or vertical discharge unit.

[0004] For both units, having the motor in a separate compartment, which is not traversed by the extracted airflow, helps to ensure that the unit can continue to operate in the event of a fire in the building, during which the extracted airflow is likely to become laden with fire fumes at very high temperatures, for example 400°C (degrees Celsius) and which could damage the motor.

[0005] These well-known units generally provide satisfactory results. However, sometimes an installer, having received delivery of a unit of one type, for example, a "horizontal discharge" unit, finds on-site that its installation is impossible or difficult in practice due to technical constraints, and that a unit of the other type, in this example, a "vertical discharge" unit, would be more suitable. The installer then needs to have a second unit delivered to replace the first, which requires significant resources, including, given the size and weight of the units, the need for crane transport. This also slows down the construction site. In some cases, the new unit delivered has a different size, which adds to the previous difficulties.

[0006] One aim of the invention is therefore to propose a new air extraction box that avoids having to replace a vertical discharge box with a horizontal discharge box, or vice versa, in case of an error during the installation of the box.

[0007] To this end, the invention relates to an air extraction box, comprising: an envelope, including an end face and a portion of the roof, the envelope delimiting within itself: an intake compartment, delimited by the portion of the roof, and a technical compartment, delimited by the end face; a partition, arranged inside the envelope, so as to separate the intake compartment and the technical compartment from each other, the technical compartment being arranged between the end face and the partition; an inlet opening, formed through the envelope opening into the intake compartment, for the admission of an airflow extracted into the intake compartment via the inlet opening;a wheel-scroll assembly, disposed in the intake compartment and comprising: a scroll, including an inlet opening into the intake compartment and an outlet opening, and a centrifugal wheel, disposed inside the scroll, rotating relative to the scroll about a wheel axis passing through the inlet opening, so as to, by rotation of the centrifugal wheel, draw into the scroll through the inlet opening the extracted airflow, which has been admitted into the intake compartment, and to expel the extracted airflow, which has been drawn into the scroll, out of the scroll through the outlet opening; and a motor, disposed inside the technical compartment, for driving the centrifugal wheel in rotation.

[0008] According to the invention, an outlet opening passes through the envelope and the air extraction box is configured to reversibly evolve between: a horizontal discharge configuration, in which: the outlet opening passes through the extreme facade, the portion of the roof is closed to the extracted airflow, the volute is oriented, relative to the envelope, so that the outlet vent faces the extreme facade, and the outlet vent is fluidly connected to the outlet opening through the partition, so that the extracted airflow expelled by the outlet vent is evacuated out of the air extraction box through the outlet opening in the extreme facade;and a vertical discharge configuration, in which: the outlet opening passes through the portion of the roof, the volute is oriented, relative to the envelope, so that the outlet louver faces the portion of the roof, and the outlet louver is fluidly connected to the outlet opening, so that the extracted airflow discharged at the outlet louver is evacuated out of the air extraction box through the outlet opening.

[0009] A key idea of the invention is to provide a versatile air extraction unit, capable of switching between two configurations: horizontal and vertical discharge. Furthermore, the invention allows this configuration change to be performed by the installer on-site, rather than solely at the factory. To this end, the invention preferably provides that the outlet panel and the closed panel are interchangeable, which can be done directly by the installer by removing and reinstalling the panels in place of each other. Alternatively, the roof section includes a first opening that can be configured to function as the outlet in vertical discharge mode, and as a closed opening for the extracted airflow in horizontal discharge mode.To achieve the closed configuration, a removable mask is installed, for example, to close the first opening. In the horizontal discharge configuration, a second opening through the outermost facade, left open, constitutes the outlet. In the vertical discharge configuration, the second opening is not used to exhaust the extracted airflow and is preferably closed, ideally using the same mask that closed the first opening in the horizontal discharge configuration. For this purpose as well, the invention provides that the wheel-scroll assembly can be oriented in two different ways, depending on the configuration desired by the installer: one with the outlet facing the outermost facade, suitable for the horizontal discharge configuration, and the other with the outlet facing the roof section, suitable for the vertical discharge configuration. The installer has the option to change the orientation of the volute in situ, for example by detaching the wheel-volute assembly from the casing, pivoting the detached wheel-volute assembly, and then attaching the volute in the orientation corresponding to the desired configuration.

[0010] According to other advantageous aspects of the invention, the invention comprises one or more of the following features, taken individually or in all technically possible combinations: The casing comprises an interchangeable outlet panel and a closed panel, with the outlet opening passing through the outlet panel. In the horizontal discharge configuration, the outlet panel forms the outermost face, allowing the outlet opening to pass through the outermost face, and the closed panel forms the roof portion, closing the roof portion to the exhaust airflow. In the vertical discharge configuration, the outlet panel forms the roof portion, allowing the outlet opening to pass through the roof portion, and the closed panel forms the outermost face. The motor comprises an outlet shaft that rotates about a drive axis relative to the casing to drive the rotating centrifugal impeller. The impeller axis is parallel to the drive axis in both the horizontal and vertical discharge configurations. The air extraction box includes a flexible transmission loop, preferably a drive belt, which connects the rotation of the outlet shaft and the rotation of the centrifugal impeller to each other in both horizontal and vertical discharge configurations. In the horizontal discharge configuration, the impeller shaft is positioned so as to be coaxial, or parallel to within 5 cm, of the position of the impeller shaft in the vertical discharge configuration. A transfer opening passes through the partition; and the air extraction box includes a mask that, in the vertical discharge configuration, closes the transfer opening to the extracted airflow admitted into the intake compartment and that, in the horizontal discharge configuration, does not close the transfer opening so that the extracted airflow discharged by the centrifugal impeller passes through it.The air extraction unit includes a horizontal duct, which connects the outlet vent to the outlet opening in a horizontal discharge configuration and is preferably removed from the building envelope in a vertical discharge configuration. The air extraction unit includes a vertical duct, which connects the outlet vent to the outlet opening in a vertical discharge configuration and is preferably removed from the building envelope in a horizontal discharge configuration. The envelope includes a floor delimiting the inlet compartment; the inlet compartment is disposed between the floor and the roof portion; the bulkhead connects the floor to the roof portion; and the wheel-scroll assembly includes a frame, to which the scroll is fixed and which extends perpendicularly to the wheel axis, the frame comprising: a main fixing edge, through which the frame is fixed to the bulkhead in a vertical offset configuration and through which the frame is fixed to the floor in a horizontal offset configuration, a floor fixing edge, perpendicular to the main fixing edge, through which the frame is fixed to the floor in a vertical offset configuration, and a bulkhead fixing edge, perpendicular to the main fixing edge, through which the frame is fixed to the bulkhead in a horizontal offset configuration. The air extraction box includes a lower wedge, which is interposed between the floor and the main fixing edge in the horizontal discharge configuration, and between the floor and the floor fixing edge in the vertical discharge configuration. In the vertical discharge configuration, the lower wedge is rotated a quarter turn relative to its orientation in the horizontal discharge configuration, so as to impose a height between the floor and the main fixing edge in the horizontal discharge configuration that differs from the height between the floor and the floor fixing edge in the vertical discharge configuration. The air extraction box includes a spacer, which is interposed between the partition and the partition fixing edge in the horizontal discharge configuration, and which is withdrawn from the casing in the vertical discharge configuration.

[0011] The invention also relates to a method for installing the air extraction box as defined above, the method comprising: supplying the air extraction box in a supply configuration, among the horizontal discharge configuration and the vertical discharge configuration; and placing the air extraction box thus supplied in an installation configuration, among the vertical discharge configuration and the horizontal discharge configuration, the installation configuration being distinct from the supply configuration.

[0012] According to another advantageous aspect of the invention, the air extraction box is as defined above and putting the air extraction box into the installation configuration includes interchanging the outlet panel and the closed panel.

[0013] The invention will become clearer upon reading the following description, given solely by way of non-limiting example, and made with reference to the drawings in which: [ Fig. 1 ] There figure 1 is a perspective view of an extraction box according to an embodiment of the invention, shown in a horizontal discharge configuration and omitting a side face. Fig. 2 ] There figure 2 is a view similar to that of the figure 1 , with the extraction unit in vertical discharge configuration. Fig. 3 ] There figure 3 is a side view of the extraction box from the previous figures, in a horizontal discharge configuration, where another side face is omitted. Fig. 4 ] There figure 4 is a view similar to that of the figure 3 , with the extraction unit in vertical discharge configuration. Fig. 5 ] There figure 5 is an uncropped perspective view, from another angle, of the extraction chamber shown in the previous figures, in a horizontal rejection configuration. Fig. 6 ] There figure 6 is a view similar to that of the figure 5 , with the extraction box in vertical discharge configuration.

[0014] THE figures 1 à 6 The illustrations show an air extraction unit 1 according to an embodiment of the invention. The air extraction unit 1 is advantageously a smoke extraction unit, but can also simply be used as a ventilation unit. The air extraction unit 1 is advantageously designed to be installed in a building, preferably on a roof, or alternatively, for example, inside the building in a technical room or on a terrace, to extract an exhaust airflow F1 from inside the building to the outside. The exhaust airflow F1 is preferably supplied to the unit 1 via a duct connecting the unit 1 to one or more rooms of the building, in particular a kitchen. The exhaust airflow F1 is advantageously a stale airflow, containing, in particular, cooking fumes. In the event of a fire in the building, the exhaust airflow F1 is likely to be laden with fire smoke.

[0015] The air extraction box 1 includes an envelope 3, which forms a rigid external casing of the box 1. An X direction, a Y direction and a Z direction are defined, which are perpendicular to each other and fixed with respect to the envelope 3. The box 1 is designed so that, once installed, the Z direction is directed vertically upwards.

[0016] The envelope 3 comprises an end facade 11, preferably perpendicular to the X direction, an end facade 12, preferably perpendicular to the X direction, a side facade 13, preferably perpendicular to the Y direction, a side facade 14, preferably perpendicular to the Y direction, a floor 15, perpendicular to the Z direction, and a roof 16, perpendicular to the Z direction. On the figures 1 And 2 , facade 14 is omitted to show the interior of envelope 3. On the figures 3 And 4, facade 13 is omitted to show the interior of envelope 3.

[0017] The end facade 12 is arranged in the X direction relative to the end facade 11. The side facade 14 is arranged in the Y direction relative to the side facade 13. The roof 16 is arranged in the Z direction relative to the floor 15. The facade 11 connects facades 13 and 14. The facade 12 connects facades 13 and 14 at an opposite end of the envelope 3 along the X direction. The facade 13 connects facades 11 and 12. The facade 14 connects facades 11 and 12 at an opposite end of the envelope 3 along the Y direction. The floor 15 is connected to the roof 16 by facades 11, 12, 13, and 14 along the Z direction. Overall, the envelope 3 is preferentially parallelepiped, with the faces of the parallelepiped formed by the facades 11, 12, 13 and 14, the floor 15 and the roof 16, each forming a respective flat face.

[0018] Preferably, envelope 3 is elongated in shape along the X direction compared to the Y and Z directions.

[0019] The air extraction unit 1 optionally includes a base 17, by means of which the unit 1 is intended to rest on a ground, terrace, roof, or floor surface of the building. The base 17 is preferably interposed between said surface and the floor 15.

[0020] The air extraction box 1 includes a partition 18, which is arranged inside the envelope 3 and is fixed relative to the envelope 3. The partition 18 is located in the envelope, between the extreme facades 11 and 12. The partition 18 is preferably perpendicular to the X direction, i.e. parallel to the extreme facades 11 and 12. Preferably, the partition 18 connects the floor 15 to the roof 16 along the Z direction and connects the facades 13 and 14 to each other along the Y direction.

[0021] The envelope 3 delimits, within itself, a compartment 19, called the "admission compartment", and a compartment 20, called the "technical compartment", which are separated from each other by the partition 18. Each compartment 19 and 20 is preferably parallelepiped in shape. Compartment 19 is delimited, along the X direction, by the facade 11 and the partition 18. Compartment 19 is delimited, along the Y direction, by the facades 13 and 14. Compartment 19 is delimited, along the Z direction, by the floor 15 and the roof 16. Compartment 20 is delimited, along the X direction, by the partition 18 and the facade 12. Compartment 19 is delimited, along the Y direction, by the facades 13 and 14. Compartment 19 is delimited, along the Z direction, by the floor 15 and the roof 16.

[0022] The roof 16 comprises at least one roof segment 16A, delimiting the intake compartment 19 and, preferably, a roof segment 16B, delimiting the technical compartment 20. In other words, the intake compartment 19 is located between the floor 15 and the roof segment 16A. In the illustrated example, the roof segment 16A extends beyond the partition 18 in the X direction to also delimit the technical compartment 20. Each roof segment is preferably perpendicular to the Z direction. In the X direction, the roof segment 16A connects the facade 11 to the roof segment 16B, and, in the Y direction, connects the facade 13 to the facade 14. In the X direction, the roof segment 16B connects the roof segment 16A to the facade 12, and, in the Y direction, connects the facade 13 to the facade 14.

[0023] Preferably, each façade 11, 12, 13 and 14, the partition 18, and each roof section 16A and 16B is formed by a single respective panel, which is flat. The floor 15 can be formed by one or more flat panels.

[0024] The box 1 includes an inlet opening 21, which is formed through the envelope 3, in particular through the extreme facade 11, namely, the flat panel forming the facade 11. The inlet opening 21 leads into the intake compartment 19.

[0025] The inlet opening 21 is designed to be connected to a duct, carrying the extracted airflow F1 from inside the building to the housing 1. The opening 21 therefore advantageously has a geometry complementary to that of the end of a duct. Through the inlet opening 21, the airflow F1 is admitted into the inlet compartment 19. Preferably, the inlet opening 21 is delimited by a connecting flange 22, so that it can be easily connected to the duct supplying the extracted airflow F1. The connecting flange 22 projects from the facade 11 outwards from the enclosure 3 and forms a closed contour around the inlet opening 21. The inlet opening 21 thus constitutes an inlet branch.

[0026] Here, only one inlet opening 21 is provided, located through facade 11, while facades 13 and 14 have no inlet. Alternatively to, or in addition to, inlet opening 21, one or more other inlet openings may be provided to admit the extracted airflow F1 into the intake compartment 19, for example through one of facades 13 and 14.

[0027] Envelope 3 is unique in that the roof section 16A and the facade 12 have the same dimensions. Consequently, the respective panels forming the roof section 16A and the facade 12 can be interchanged as needed. These two interchangeable panels, belonging to envelope 3, consist of a panel 23, referred to as the "closed panel," and a panel 24, referred to as the "exit panel." Panels 23 and 24 are interchangeable, in particular, because they have the same dimensions, both for their external contour and / or for their means of attachment to the two locations on envelope 3. For example, each panel 23 and 24 has identical means of attachment. Additionally, a first location on envelope 3, at the level of the roof section 16A, and a second location on envelope 3, at the level of the facade 12, have identical means of attachment. Therefore, each panel 23 and 24 can, at will, have its fixing means fixed to the additional fixing means of the location of the roof portion 16A to constitute the roof portion 16A, and of the location of the facade 12, to constitute the facade 12.

[0028] On the figures 1 , 3 And 5 , the box 1 is in a horizontal rejection configuration, where the closed panel 23 forms the roof portion 16A and where the exit panel 24 forms the extremity facade 12. On the figures 2 , 4 And 6The box 1 is in a vertical discharge configuration, where the outlet panel 24 forms the roof section 16A and the closed panel 23 forms the end facade 12. Panels 23 and 24 can be interchanged by a technician, either at the factory or during the installation of box 1, to change the box between the horizontal and vertical discharge configurations. This change is reversible, meaning that it is possible to switch from the horizontal discharge configuration to the vertical discharge configuration and vice versa.

[0029] The outlet panel 24 is traversed by an outlet opening 25 for the extracted airflow F1, which passes through the panel 24 completely, so that the extracted airflow F1 flows from the inside of the envelope 3 to the outside of the envelope 3. In a horizontal discharge configuration, the outlet opening 25 is directed along the X direction, since the panel 24 forms the outermost facade 12. In a vertical discharge configuration, the outlet opening 25 is directed along the Z direction, since the panel 24 forms the roof section 16A. The arrangement of the panel 24 therefore determines the position and orientation of the outlet 25 for the extracted airflow on the envelope 3, and relative to the inlet opening 21.

[0030] The outlet opening 25 can be left open to the air, i.e., without connection to a duct. In this case, a grille covering the opening 25 is preferable to prevent the accidental introduction of objects into the enclosure 3 via the outlet opening 25, while still allowing free passage of the extracted airflow F1.

[0031] The closed panel 23 has no opening for the exhaust airflow F1. Preferably, the closed panel 23 is completely closed. Therefore, in a horizontal discharge configuration, the exhaust airflow F1 does not pass through the roof 16. Similarly, in a vertical discharge configuration, the exhaust airflow F1 does not pass through the outermost facade 12.

[0032] Preferably, the casing 1 has no other inlet or outlet openings for the circulation of the extracted airflow F1 between the interior and exterior of the envelope 3, other than those mentioned above. Between the vertical and horizontal discharge configurations, the position of the various panels constituting the partition 18, the facades 11, 13 and 14, the floor 15 and the roof section 16B, is advantageously not modified, which contrasts with the fact that panels 23 and 24 are reversed.

[0033] The extraction chamber 1 includes a wheel-volute assembly 30, which is arranged inside the inlet compartment 19, in a horizontal discharge configuration and in a vertical discharge configuration. The wheel-volute assembly 30 comprises a volute 31, a centrifugal wheel 32 and two frames 33.

[0034] The centrifugal wheel 32 is a ventilation wheel which, when rotated about a wheel axis Y32, draws in the extracted airflow F1 axially and expels the extracted airflow F1 radially outwards in all directions. The centrifugal wheel 32 preferably has a blade geometry coaxial with the axis Y32. In both horizontal and vertical discharge configurations, the axis Y32 is advantageously parallel to the Y direction.

[0035] As shown on the figures 1 And 2 The centrifugal wheel 32 is arranged inside the volute 31. The volute 31 is arranged in the inlet compartment 19.

[0036] The volute 31 comprises two inlet slots 34, preferably of a generally circular shape. The two inlet slots 34 are arranged on either side of the centrifugal wheel 32. Each inlet slot 34 is axial, that is, it is traversed by the axis Y32, preferably coaxially with the axis Y32. Each inlet slot 34 thus connects the interior of the inlet compartment 19 to the interior of the volute 31, to allow the intake of the extracted airflow F1, initially contained in the compartment 19 after its admission via the inlet opening 21, into the interior of the volute 31, in particular into the interior of the centrifugal wheel 32. Alternatively, a single inlet slot 34 could be provided for the volute 31.

[0037] The volute 31 includes an outlet 35 which is orthoradial, that is to say, which is arranged at a distance from the axis Y32 by being oriented perpendicular to a ray from the axis Y32 and reaching the outlet 35. Along the axis Y32, the outlet 35 is arranged between the two outlets 34, if two outlets 34 are provided. Along the axis Y32, the vent 35 extends along the wheel 32. Overall, the volute 31 is a sleeve, which has a general spiral shape that winds around the axis Y32, from the vents 34 to the vent 35. While the centrifugal wheel 32 draws the airflow F1 axially into the volute 31 via the vents 34 and expels the extracted airflow F1 radially outwards in all directions, the volute 31 serves to channel this extracted airflow F1 expelled by the wheel 32 towards the single outlet vent 35, the airflow F1 thus being expelled in an orthoradial direction with respect to the axis Y32 via the vent 35.In other words, by rotation of the centrifugal wheel 32, the airflow F1 from the intake compartment 19 is drawn into the volute 31 through the vents 34 and is expelled from the volute through the outlet vent 35. This drawing of the airflow F1 contained in the compartment 19 also causes an admission of the airflow F1 into the interior of the compartment 19 via the inlet opening 21.

[0038] Although the volute 31 is contained within the inlet compartment 19, the interior of the volute 31 is separated from the interior of the inlet compartment 19. Thus, we distinguish the airflow F1 admitted into the compartment 19 and the airflow F1, coming from the interior of the compartment 19, admitted into the interior of the volute 31 and therefore no longer being inside the compartment 19 of the envelope 3, except by being inside the volute 31 itself.

[0039] During the operation of the box 1, the volute 31 is fixed relative to the envelope 3. However, the volute 31 is in a different position between the horizontal rejection configuration and the vertical rejection configuration.

[0040] Preferably, in the vertical offset configuration, the volute 31 is rotated a quarter turn around the Y32 axis relative to the position of the volute 31 in the horizontal offset configuration. Preferably, the louver 34 that faces the facade 13 in the horizontal offset configuration also faces the facade 13 in the vertical offset configuration. Preferably, in the horizontal offset configuration, the wheel axis Y32 is positioned so as to be coaxial with the position of the wheel axis Y32 in the vertical offset configuration. Alternatively, the Y32 axis may be offset, but as small as possible. For example, the Y32 axis in the horizontal offset configuration may be parallel, at a distance of 5 cm (centimeters) or less, from the Y32 axis in the vertical offset configuration. Preferably, a value of less than 2 cm, such as 1.5 cm or less, is used.

[0041] As shown on the figures 1 , 3 And 5In the horizontal discharge configuration, the volute 31 is oriented, relative to the envelope 3, so that the vent 35 faces the extreme facade 12. In other words, the vent 35 is rotated along the X direction. In the horizontal discharge configuration, the vent 35 is fluidly connected to the outlet opening 25, preferably by means of a horizontal duct 36 belonging to the casing 1. Thanks to these arrangements, the airflow F1 discharged by the outlet vent 35 is evacuated from the envelope 3 through the outlet opening 25 on the extreme facade 12.

[0042] More specifically, it is advantageously provided that a transfer opening 37 passes through the partition 18. The horizontal duct 36, arranged in the technical compartment 20, is connected to the outlet opening 25 and extends, in the opposite direction to X, towards the transfer opening 37. In a horizontal discharge configuration, the inlet 35 is placed against the transfer opening 37, or even enters through the opening 37 from the inlet compartment 19, to open into the horizontal duct 36, or is otherwise connected to the horizontal duct 36. More generally, the inlet 35 is fluidly connected to the opening 25 via the horizontal duct 36, through the transfer opening 37 and the technical compartment 20.

[0043] Although the horizontal duct 36 and, possibly, the vent 35, are advantageously contained within the technical compartment 20, the interior of the horizontal duct 36 and the volute 31 are separated from the interior of the technical compartment 20. The extracted airflow F1 originating from the interior of the volute 31, and which is conducted from the vent 35 to the outlet opening 25, is therefore not inside the technical compartment 20 except by being inside the volute 31 and the horizontal duct 36. It follows that the interior of the technical compartment 20 is separated from the airflow F1.

[0044] As shown on the figures 2 , 4 And 6In the vertical discharge configuration, the volute 31 is oriented, relative to the envelope 3, so that the vent 35 faces the roof section 16A. In other words, the vent 35 is rotated along the Z direction. In the vertical discharge configuration, the vent 35 is fluidly connected to the outlet opening 25, preferably by means of a vertical duct 38 belonging to the box 1. Thanks to these arrangements, the airflow F1 discharged by the outlet vent 35 is expelled from the envelope 3 through the outlet opening 25 at the roof level 16, specifically at the roof section 16A, rather than at the extreme facade 12.

[0045] The vertical conduit 38, arranged in the inlet compartment 19, directly connects the vent 35 to the opening 25 in the Z direction, passing through the inlet compartment 19. Thus, the vent 35 is fluidly connected to the opening 25 via the vertical conduit 38, through the inlet compartment 19.

[0046] Although the vertical duct 38 is advantageously contained within the inlet compartment 19, the interior of the vertical duct 38 is separated from the interior of the inlet compartment 19. The extracted airflow F1 originating from the interior of the volute 31, and which is conducted from the vent 35 to the outlet opening 25 via the duct 38, is therefore not inside the technical compartment 20 except by being inside the volute 31 and the vertical duct 38. It follows that the interior of the technical compartment 20, receiving the fluid F1 admitted through the opening 21 and before its aspiration into the volute 31, is separated from the airflow F1 expelled from the volute 31 and conveyed to the outlet opening 25.

[0047] Preferably, in the vertical discharge configuration, the removable horizontal duct 36 is removed from the casing 3 and is therefore no longer present in the compartment 20. The air extraction box 1 advantageously includes a mask 39, here formed by a sealing plate. In the vertical discharge configuration, as shown in the figures 2 , 4 And 6 When the volute 31 no longer occupies the transfer opening 37, the mask 39 is installed against the transfer opening 37 so as to block the transfer opening 37 from the extracted airflow F1. In other words, the partition 18 is then closed by the mask 39. The extracted airflow F1 admitted into the intake compartment 19 can therefore not reach the technical compartment 20 via the transfer opening 37.

[0048] Preferably, in horizontal discharge configuration, the removable vertical duct 38 is removed from the envelope 3 and is therefore no longer present in compartment 20.

[0049] The mask 39 is removable so that it can be taken out of the envelope 3 in the horizontal rejection configuration, so as not to obstruct the transfer opening 37 and thus allow the connection between the vent 35 and the outlet opening 25 through the transfer opening 37. Alternatively, the mask 39 is left inside the envelope 3 in the horizontal rejection configuration, but in a position where the mask 39 does not obstruct the transfer opening 37 to allow said connection.

[0050] The volute 31 is fixedly attached to the frames 33. When the wheel-volute assembly 30 is detached from the casing 3 to change the box 1 configuration, it is advantageous to ensure that the frames 33 remain fixedly attached to the volute 31. Preferably, the volute 31 is arranged between the two frames 33 along the Y32 axis, each frame 33 being traversed by the Y32 axis and advantageously having a planar shape perpendicular to the Y32 axis. To avoid obstructing the inlet vents 34, each frame 33 has a mesh and / or post / beam structure, allowing the passage of the airflow F1 through the frame 33. In both horizontal and vertical discharge configurations, the volute 31 is fixedly attached to the casing 3 via each frame 33.

[0051] Each frame 33 advantageously comprises a main fixing edge 44, a partition fixing edge 45, a floor fixing edge 46, and a free edge 47. Edges 44 and 47 are parallel and connect edges 45 and 46. Edges 45 and 46 are parallel and connect edges 44 and 47. Edges 44 to 47 describe a rectangle perpendicular to axis Y32.

[0052] In the horizontal offset configuration, edges 44 and 47 are parallel to the X direction, and edges 45 and 46 are parallel to the Z direction. Each frame 33 is then fixed to the floor 15 via the main fixing edge 44. Each frame 33 is then preferably fixed to the partition 18 via the partition fixing edge 45. In the vertical offset configuration, edges 44 and 47 are parallel to the Z direction, and edges 45 and 46 are parallel to the X direction. Each frame 33 is then fixed to the floor 15 via the floor fixing edge 46. Each frame 33 is then preferably fixed to the partition 18 via the main fixing edge 44. To fix each frame 33 to the floor 15 and the partition 18, fixing elements, such as screws or bolts, are provided, passing through the edges 44, 45, and / or 46 of the frame 33, which are fixed to said floor 15 and to said partition 18.Thanks to these arrangements, the attachment of assembly 30 to envelope 3 is therefore particularly solid and stable.

[0053] In order to obtain the desired position for the axis Y32 and the outlet vent 35 relative to the floor 15, along the Z direction, in the horizontal offset configuration and in the vertical offset configuration, the box 1 advantageously includes lower shims 50. Each lower shim 50 is interposed, along the Z direction, between the floor 15 and one of the frames 33. More precisely, along the Z direction, each shim 50 is interposed between the floor 15 and the main fixing edge 44, in the horizontal offset configuration, and between the floor 15 and the floor fixing edge 46, in the vertical offset configuration.

[0054] Preferably, each wedge 50 extends along its own axis, which is, for example, parallel to the X direction. Preferably, along this own axis, each wedge 50 has a maximum cross-section whose width l50 is different from its length L50. As shown in the figure 1 In the horizontal offset configuration, the width l50 is measured along a horizontal direction, perpendicular to the Z direction and the eigenaxis, here the Y direction. In this configuration, the length L50 is measured along the Z direction. In the vertical offset configuration, the wedge 50 is rotated a quarter turn around its eigenaxis, so that the rotated cross-section has its width l50 parallel to the Z direction rather than parallel to the horizontal direction, and its length L50 parallel to the horizontal direction rather than parallel to the Z direction. Therefore, in the horizontal offset configuration, the frame 33 is held at a distance from the floor 15 by the wedge 50 at a distance equal to the length L50, whereas in the vertical offset configuration, the frame 33 is held at a distance from the floor 15 by the wedge 50 at a distance equal to the width l50, which is different from the length L50.In other words, in the vertical offset configuration, each wedge 50 is rotated a quarter turn around its own axis, relative to the orientation of the lower wedge 50 in the horizontal offset configuration. This ensures that a height H44 between the floor 15 and the main fixing edge 44 in the horizontal offset configuration differs from a height H46 between the floor 15 and the floor fixing edge 46 in the vertical offset configuration. Heights H44 and H46 are measured along the Z direction. This ensures that, although the frame 33 has a rectangular shape, the axis Y32 is always at the same height along the Z direction, or at a very close height, in both configurations of the box 1.

[0055] Alternatively, instead of the 50 shims which are used for both configurations, one could provide shims for one of the configurations, which are replaced by other shims or simply removed for the other configuration.

[0056] Preferably, the extraction box includes 51 spacers, which are removable. As shown in the figures 1 And 3 Each spacer 51 is interposed between the partition 18 and the partition fixing edge 45 of one of the frames 33, respectively, along the X direction, in a horizontal offset configuration. In this configuration, each frame 33 is therefore supported along the X direction, via the partition edge 45, by means of one of the spacers 51.

[0057] Each spacer 51 preferably has the form of an elongated piece along the Z direction, extending from bottom to top over the entire height of the outlet opening 35. Along the Y direction, the opening 35 is arranged between the spacers 51. Similarly, along the Y direction, the transfer opening 37 is arranged between the spacers 51. The spacers 51 have a dual function, namely to ensure correct positioning of the wheel-volute assembly 30 along the X direction relative to the casing and the partition 18, in particular of the Y32 axis, especially despite the rectangular shape of the frame 33, and to reduce the risk of leakage of the flow F1 at the connection between the opening 35 and the horizontal duct 36, knowing that this connection is advantageously made without an elastomeric seal.

[0058] Advantageously, in the vertical rejection configuration, the spacers 51 are removed from the envelope 3, as shown in the figures 2 And 4the wheel-scroll assembly 30 then being directly supported against the partition 18. In particular, the main fixing edge 44 of each frame 33 is supported against the partition 18 along the X direction. Alternatively, the spacers 51 can be left in the envelope 3 in the main rejection configuration, but are for example moved to allow the wheel-scroll assembly 30 to be directly supported against the partition 18 along the X direction.

[0059] The casing 1 includes a motor 60, fixedly located inside the technical compartment 20, outside the horizontal duct 36, in both vertical and horizontal discharge configurations. The arrangements concerning the motor 60 are the same in both configurations of the casing 1. The motor 60 drives the centrifugal wheel 32, rotating it around its axis Y32 in both configurations of the casing 1. The motor 60 is preferably an electric motor. The motor 60 includes, for example, a frame 61 carrying a stator, by means of which the motor 60 is fixedly attached to the casing 3, in particular by being fixed to the floor 15 in the compartment 20. The motor 60 also includes an output shaft 62 which is rotatable about a motor axis Y62 relative to the frame 61, i.e. relative to the casing 3, to drive the centrifugal wheel 32 in rotation about the axis Y32.To be driven into rotation, the output shaft 62 is coupled to a motor rotor, received in the frame 61, the supply of electrical energy to the rotor and / or the stator generating an electromagnetic field causing the rotation of the rotor relative to that of the rotor.

[0060] Since the F1 flow is not admitted into the technical compartment 20, the F1 airflow does not reach the engine 60. These arrangements mean that the engine 60 is not directly exposed to fire fumes potentially present in the F1 flow and can continue to operate even in this case.

[0061] Preferably, the motor 60 is oriented relative to the housing 3 such that the axis Y62 is parallel to the Y direction. Thus, the wheel axis Y32 is advantageously parallel to the motor axis Y62, in both horizontal and vertical offset configurations. This simplifies the design of a transmission system through which the output shaft 62 drives the wheel 32 in rotation.

[0062] Preferably, for transmission, the housing 1 includes a drive belt 63, which connects the rotation of the output shaft 62 and the rotation of the centrifugal wheel 32 to each other, in both horizontal and vertical offset configurations. The belt 63 preferably extends along a plane perpendicular to the Y direction. The belt 63 encircles a drive pulley fixedly and coaxially mounted on the output shaft 62 and a driven pulley fixedly and coaxially mounted on the wheel 32, thus connecting the rotation of the output shaft 62 and that of the wheel 32 to each other. On the motor side 60, the belt 63 extends into the compartment 20. The belt 63 passes through a through-hole 65, extending through the partition 18, so that the belt 63 reaches the wheel 32.

[0063] It is advantageous to use a transmission that includes belt 63 rather than another type of transmission, since the same belt 63 can be used in both horizontal and vertical offset configurations, even if the center distance between axes Y62 and Y32 is modified from one configuration to the other, notably by offsetting axis Y32 by a few centimeters, as discussed above. Indeed, the tension of belt 63 can easily be adjusted so that the same belt 63 can provide rotational control despite the difference in center distance between the horizontal and vertical offset configurations.

[0064] Alternatively, a transmission chain, or any other flexible loop, may be provided in place of the belt 63 to ensure rotational fastening.

[0065] On the wheel side 32, it is advantageously provided that the belt 63 is covered by a casing 64 in the shape of an arm, which extends from the passage opening 65 to the driven pulley, enveloping the belt 63 over its entire length protruding into compartment 19 from the partition 18. This reduces the exposure of the belt to any possible fire fumes that may be contained in compartment 19.

[0066] The floor 15 and / or the facades 13 and 14 are advantageously traversed by an inlet opening 66 and an outlet opening 67, leading into the technical compartment 20. The inlet opening 66 serves to admit a cooling airflow F2 from outside the enclosure 3 into the technical compartment 20, separate from the exhaust airflow F1. The flow F2 serves, in particular, to cool the motor 60. The circulation of the flow F2 can be ensured by a fan wheel attached to the rotor of the motor 60, in the case of a so-called self-ventilated motor. Alternatively, or in addition, the circulation of the flow F2 can be ensured by a motor-driven fan independent of the motor 60, positioned, for example, at the inlet opening 66 or the outlet opening 67.The F2 flow, originating from the immediate external environment of casing 1, generally remains cool, even in the event of a fire inside the building, whereas the F1 flow is likely to become laden with hot fire smoke. The motor 60 is therefore effectively cooled.

[0067] Preferably, a portion of the flow F2 is used to cool the belt 63. To this end, a portion of the flow F2 is provided to enter the housing 64 through the passage opening 65. To facilitate the flow of the flow F2 into the housing 64, a small opening is advantageously provided at the end of the housing 64, inside the intake compartment 19. This opening connects the interior of the housing 64 with the interior of the compartment 19 around the axis Y32. This opening allows a slight leakage of the flow F2 towards the intake compartment 19. This ensures that the flow F2 reaches the end of the housing 64 and cools the belt 63 up to the axis Y32.

[0068] Preferably, the end of the housing 64 also surrounds a bearing, such as a ball bearing, through which the wheel 32 is supported relative to the casing 3 while rotating around the axis Y32. The airflow F2 admitted into the housing 64 then serves to cool the bearing.

[0069] Preferably, if another bearing is provided to support the wheel 32, a second housing 68 similar to the first housing 64 is provided. This second bearing is coaxial with the axis Y32 and is positioned beyond the wheel 32 opposite the first bearing and the driven pulley. Therefore, the second housing 68 is positioned parallel to the first housing 64, beyond the wheel-volute assembly 30 opposite the first housing 64. As shown in the figure 1The second crankcase 68 extends from a second passage opening through the partition 18 to the second bearing, covering this second bearing around the axis Y32. A portion of the airflow F2 from the technical compartment 20 is admitted into the crankcase 68 to cool the second bearing. An opening near the second bearing allows airflow F2 to leak from the crankcase 68 into the intake compartment 19, ensuring that the airflow F2 circulates within the crankcase 68 from compartment 20 to the end of the crankcase 68 where the second bearing is located.

[0070] In general, the box 1 is designed so that, inside the envelope 3, the flows F1 and F2 do not meet and do not mix, except that the clearances for mounting the box 1 allow some leakage, and except with regard to the deliberate leakage of the flow F2 to compartment 19 via the casings 64 and 68 to ensure the cooling of the bearings, the belt 63 and the driven pulley.

[0071] The air extraction box 1 defined above can be installed according to the following procedure.

[0072] First, the caisson 1 is supplied in one of its two configurations, then referred to as the "supply configuration." For example, the supply configuration is the horizontal offset configuration. This supply takes the form of a delivery directly to the construction site where the caisson 1 is intended to be integrated into the building, or alternatively, to a warehouse from which the caisson will be delivered to the said construction site. In any case, the place of supply is separate from a factory where the caisson 1 was manufactured or assembled.

[0073] At the location where enclosure 1 was supplied, the installer may decide, depending on the situation, to leave enclosure 1 in its original configuration and install it as is. Alternatively, if necessary, the installer may decide to modify the enclosure's current configuration, placing it in a different installation configuration than the one it was supplied in.

[0074] In this example, while the supply configuration was a horizontal discharge configuration, the installer's desired installation configuration is a vertical discharge configuration. To achieve this, the installer preferably removes the outlet panel 24 and the closed panel 23 from the enclosure 3. Once the outlet panel 24 is removed, if the horizontal duct 36 is present, the installer preferably removes the horizontal duct 36 from the enclosure 3. If the belt 63 is present, the installer detaches the belt from the driven pulley. Once the closed panel 23 is removed, the installer disconnects the wheel-volute assembly 30 from the enclosure 3 and the partition 18 and removes it from the enclosure 3. To allow for this disconnection and removal, any covers 64 and 68 may have been removed. Having done this, the installer removes the spacers 51 and detaches the wedges 50 from the floor 15, if these elements are provided.Once the shims 50 have been detached, the installer reattaches them to the floor 15, after rotating them a quarter turn around their axis. Having done this, the installer reattaches the wheel-volute assembly 30 to the housing 3, so that the outlet opening 35 is oriented in the Z direction, replaces the belt 63 on the driven pulley, and reinstalls the covers 64 and 68 if they had been removed. The installer then installs the mask 39 on the partition 18, the outlet panel 24 to form the roof section 16A, with the outlet opening 25 connected to the outlet vent 35 by the vertical duct 38. The closed panel 23 is installed to form the end facade 12. With these steps completed, the box 1 is now in a vertical discharge configuration and can be installed as such, in particular with the box 1 fixed to the building and a building duct connected to the inlet opening 21.

[0075] In another example, while the supply configuration was a vertical discharge configuration, the installer's desired installation configuration is a horizontal discharge configuration. To achieve this, the installer preferably removes the outlet panel 24 and the closed panel 23 from the enclosure 3. If a belt 63 is present, the installer detaches the belt from the driven pulley. Once the outlet panel 24 is removed, and after dismantling any belt 63, the installer disconnects the wheel-volute assembly 30 from the enclosure 3 and the partition 18 and removes it from the enclosure 3. In doing so, the installer preferably also removes the vertical duct 38. To allow for this disconnection and removal, any covers 64 and 68 may have been removed. The installer also disconnects the faceplate 39 from the partition 18 and the shims 50 from the floor 15.Once the wedges 50 have been detached, the installer reattaches them to the floor 15, after rotating them a quarter turn around their axis. Having done this, the installer attaches the outlet panel 24 to form the end face 12, installing the horizontal duct 36 from the outlet opening 25 to the transfer opening 37, and reattaches the wheel-volute assembly 30 to the casing 3, so that the outlet vent 35 is oriented along the X direction and opens into the horizontal duct 36. The installer replaces the belt 63 on the driven pulley and reinstalls the covers 64 and 68 if they had been removed. The installer then installs the closed panel 23 to form the roof section 16A.With these steps completed, box 1 is now in horizontal discharge configuration and can be installed as such, in particular with fixing box 1 to said building and connection of a duct from the building to the inlet opening 21.

[0076] The box 1 is therefore particularly versatile and is adaptable to factory or on-site assembly, without having to resort to another box or spare parts.

[0077] Alternatively, the panels forming the roof section 16A and the end façade 12 are not interchangeable and do not necessarily have the same geometry. In this case, the roof section 16A is designed to have a first opening, which can be configured as either an open opening to form the outlet 25 in a vertical discharge configuration, or a closed configuration to the extracted airflow in a horizontal discharge configuration. To achieve the closed configuration, a removable mask similar to mask 39 is installed, for example, to close the first opening. A second opening passes through the end façade and is left open to form the outlet 25 in a horizontal discharge configuration. In the vertical discharge configuration, the second opening is not used to exhaust the extracted airflow F1 and is even preferentially closed, ideally using the same mask that closed the first opening of roof section 16A in the horizontal discharge configuration. In summary, to achieve the vertical discharge configuration, the mask is installed on the opening in facade 12, and the outlet opening 25 is formed by leaving the opening in roof section 16A open and connecting it to the outlet vent 35 as described above. To achieve the horizontal discharge configuration, the same mask is installed on the opening in roof section 16A, and the outlet opening 25 is formed by leaving the opening in the extreme facade 12 open and connecting it to the outlet vent 35 as described above.

[0078] For this variant, it is advantageous to provide that the conduit 36 and / or the conduit 38 remain in place in horizontal discharge configuration and in vertical discharge configuration.

[0079] For this variant, the installation configuration step for box 1 can be carried out as follows.

[0080] In the first case, while the supply configuration was a horizontal discharge configuration, the installation configuration desired by the installer is a vertical discharge configuration. If belt 63 is provided, the installer detaches the belt from the driven pulley after gaining access to the inside of enclosure 3, either by removing the roof section 16A or by opening a door, an access hatch, or another part of enclosure 3 designed for this purpose. Having gained access to the inside of enclosure 3, the installer detaches the wheel-volute assembly 30 from enclosure 3 and partition 18 and removes it from enclosure 3. To allow for this detachment and removal, any covers 64 and 68 may have been removed. Once this is done, the installer removes the spacers 51 and detaches the shims 50 from the floor 15, if these components are provided.Once the wedges 50 have been detached, the installer reattaches them to the floor 15, after rotating them a quarter turn around their axis. Having done this, the installer reattaches the wheel-volute assembly 30 to the casing 3, so that the outlet vent 35 is oriented in the Z direction, replaces the belt 63 on the driven pulley, and reinstalls the covers 64 and 68 if they had been removed. If the vertical duct 38 was missing, it is installed to connect the outlet vent 35 to the opening in the roof section 16A. The installer installs the mask 39 on the partition 18, moves the mask that closed the opening of the roof section 16A and installs it on the opening that had been left on the extreme facade 12. The opening of the roof section 16A, thus opened and connected to the outlet vent 35, constitutes the outlet opening 25 for the extracted airflow F1.With these steps completed, box 1 is now in vertical discharge configuration and can be installed as such, in particular with fixing box 1 to said building and connection of a duct from the building to the inlet opening 21.

[0081] In a second case, while the supply configuration was a vertical discharge configuration, the installation configuration desired by the installer is a horizontal discharge configuration. The installer removes the cover 39 from the partition 18 to free the transfer opening 37, if the cover 39 was present. If necessary, the installer dismantles the vertical duct 38. The installer reattaches the wheel-volute assembly 30 to the casing 3, so that the outlet vent 35 is oriented in the X direction, replaces the belt 63 on the driven pulley, and reinstalls the covers 64 and 68 if they had been removed. If the horizontal duct 36 was missing, the vertical duct 38 is installed to connect the outlet vent 35 to the opening of the extreme facade 12. The installer also moves the mask that closed the opening of the extreme facade 12 and installs it on the opening that had been left on the roof portion 16A.The opening in the extreme façade 12, thus opened and connected to the outlet vent 35, constitutes the outlet opening 25 for the extracted airflow F1. With these steps completed, the casing 1 is now in a horizontal discharge configuration and can be installed as such, in particular with the casing 1 fixed to the building and a building duct connected to the inlet opening 21.
