Abstract
Description
[0001] FUNCTIONAL MECHANICAL REHABILITATION TOOL
[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD
[0003] The invention relates to a functional rehabilitation tool which provides the treatment of the gait-ability-related diseases for the paralyzed people with an orthopedic disorder, who need rehabilitation by mimicking the gait movement or hip movement, and allows to make an exercise and strengthen the related areas by mimicking the movements for the treatment of the diseases related to the paralyzed or orthopedically damaged handfinger-arm-shoulder joints and muscles and the recovery of the abilities via the same tool.
[0004] PRIOR ART
[0005] Gait and movement disorders that may occur in people as a result of paralysis, weakness and joint disorders arising from various reasons related to the brain, spinal cord, musculoskeletal system are major problems. This may be a major obstacle in the daily lives and quality of life of individuals. Rehabilitation of these people may be an effective treatment method to address and alleviate their difficulty in walking and their deficiencies in joint movements. Rehabilitation practices generally consist of assessment, personalized treatment, exercise programs, follow-up and monitoring steps.
[0006] Rehabilitation practices are generally a very effective treatment option for problems such as dysfunctions, weakness and limitation of movement in the elbow, wrists, fingers and shoulders. Rehabilitation practices may be carried out by preparing a patient-specific program that includes exercise movements for weakness, pain or limitation of movement in the elbows, wrists, fingers and shoulders so as to treat said diseases.
[0007] Rehabilitation tools are not designed according to the physical characteristics of the diseases, but have configurations which may be used by the patients with many different physical characteristics. This is because that there are some difficulties that may be encountered if the rehabilitation tools are in custom sizes (length and width). The most important of these difficulties are that the custom-sized tools are generally more expensive than the standard-sized tools; the custom-sized tools often take more time to produce, which causes delays in the treatment process; a custom-sized tool is often not usable by the other patients as it only meets the specific needs of a particular patient; and a large number of tools of different sizes have to be stored, requiring a storage space and leading to the organizational difficulties. In order to avoid these problems, there is no need for the production of a custom rehabilitation tool, but the rehabilitation tools comprising elements and configurations, which are adjustable according to the individuals.
[0008] In addition, more than one rehabilitation tool is likely to be used while providing treatments suitable for the person's disease. In particular, different rehabilitation tools are expected to be used for the treatment of individuals with disorders in the elbows, hands, fingers, arms, wrists and shoulders and of the individuals with gait disorders in the lower extremities. This drawback may cause people to need a physiotherapist more frequently and for a long time and to have a treatment for a long time. In order to avoid this, it has been determined that the technical solutions and advantages will be obtained, when the individuals with both difficulty and weakness in walking and weakness, pain or limitation of movement in the elbows, hands, wrists, fingers and shoulders are treated using a single rehabilitation tool.
[0009] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0010] In the relevant technical field, rehabilitation tools include elements and configurations for the treatment of the disease, not according to the physical characteristics of the people. These elements and configurations consist of technical problems caused by the fact that they are not adjustable to the physical characteristics of the patients. Since the production of the rehabilitation tools specific to a patient will cause cost, time and labor loss, the rehabilitation tools with standard sizes that can be used by many patients are used.
[0011] The present invention is a functional rehabilitation tool which treats difficult in walking, weakness in elbows, hands, wrists, fingers and shoulders, limitations of movement, and skill deficits and has elements and configurations, which are adjustable according to the physical characteristics of the individuals. In the relevant technical field, more than one rehabilitation practices are expected to realize the treatment processes for the rehabilitation treatments related to both pain in the elbows, hands, wrists, fingers and shoulders, or limitation of movement, and difficulty in walking, of the patients. Due to this drawback, the rehabilitation practices which may be performed with the help of a physiotherapist cause cost, time and loss of labor.
[0012] The present invention relates to a rehabilitation tool having elements and configurations which allow the rehabilitation practices related to both the patients’ elbows, hands, wrists, fingers and shoulders, or limitation of movement, and difficulty in walking.

[0030] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0031] In this detailed explanation, the subject matter of the invention is related to a mechanical functional rehabilitation tool (10) and is described with examples only for a better understanding of the subject in a non-limiting sense.
[0032] The mechanical functional rehabilitation tool (10) of the invention is configured to enable patients who have lost their gait abilities to exercise by mimicking the gait movement and hip movement. The mechanical functional rehabilitation tool (10) of the invention also allows patients to exercise by mimicking the movements for the treatment of the diseases related to the elbows, hands, wrists, fingers, arms and shoulders and the recovery of the abilities, via the same device, together with the elements contained therein.
[0033] Accordingly, the mechanical rehabilitation tool (10) of the present invention includes a gait module (12) which enables patients who lost their gait abilities to exercise by mimicking the gait movement and hip movement, and a movement module that allows patients to exercise by mimicking the movements for the treatment of the diseases that manifest themselves in the form of movement limitations in joints and weakness related to the elbows, hands, wrists, fingers, arms and shoulders and the restoration of the abilities, via the same device. Therefore, this mechanical rehabilitation tool (10) has a functional characteristic as it provides many functions together.
[0034] The mechanical rehabilitation tool (10) of the invention includes a body (11 ) providing a stable height and volume for the system and forming the framework of the rehabilitation device.
[0035] Said rehabilitation tool (10) of the invention includes an upper part (111) and two lateral (112) parts. The two lateral parts (112) face each other in parallel. The upper part (111) forms the upper part of the mechanical rehabilitation tool (10). The upper part (111 ) is located in the upper neighborhood of the two lateral parts (112) and forms a connection in such a way that the lateral parts (112) are parallel to each other. Accordingly, the upper region of the lateral parts (112) is located at the farthest corners of the upper part (111 ). Fig. 1 clearly illustrates this connection. The upper part (111) is fixed to the upper neighborhood of the lateral parts (112). Said connection may be made using at least one fastener. Said connection may also be made by the welding or soldering processes. If a fastener is to be used, this may also be done by screwing, or using other fasteners. The lateral parts (112) and the upper part (111 ) preferably consist of two opposite elements. Two opposing elements may be cylindrical or square pipes. The scope of protection of the invention is not limited to which elements the upper part (111 ) and the lateral parts (112) consist of. Although Fig. 1 shows that the upper part (111 ) and the lateral parts (112) consist of cylindrical tubes, the scope of protection of the invention is not limited by this configuration.
[0036] The functional mechanical rehabilitation tool (10) of the invention includes a gait module (12) which allows patients to exercise by mimicking the movements for the rehabilitation treatment of the diseases related to the elbows, hands, wrists, fingers, arms and shoulders and the restoration of the abilities.
[0037] Said gait module (12) includes at least one lumbar support (121 ). Said lumbar support
[0038] (121 ) allows people who have severely lost their gait ability to stand against gravity to exercise by mimicking gait movement and hip movement. In the preferred embodiment, the lumbar support (121) is configured to be fixed to the waist of the individuals. One end of the lumbar support (121) is fixed or attached to the individuals, while the upper end thereof is attached to at least one wheel (122) providing the intended movement on the upper part. Preferably, the number of wheels (122) is two, corresponding to the pipes located in the upper part (111 ). On both pipes of the upper part (111 ), the wheel
[0039] (122) makes it possible for a person to move so as to walk. In this invention, the movement of a walker is in the "x" direction based on the coordinate system. Accordingly, the patient moves in the +x and -x directions, while he / she provides the intended movement in the upper part (111) due to the wheels (122) and lumbar support (121 ). As may be expected, the wheels (122) and the lumbar support (121) move in the same direction. The rehabilitated individual receives support from the lumbar support
[0040] (121 ) to eliminate the effect of gravity, he / she may also gait exercise due to the wheels
[0041] (122) located in the upper part of the body (111).
[0042] The lumbar support (121) may be easily adjusted according to the height of the person.
[0043] The rehabilitation device (10) includes an adjuster arm (123) so that the lumbar support (121 ) may be adjusted according to the height of the person. By the adjuster arm (123), the height of an element such as a chain, a thread, or a rope, etc. in the lumbar support (121 ), to be attached to the waist of the individual may be adjusted. Fig. 1 does not show an element such as a chain, a thread, or a rope, etc. to be attached to the waist of the individual, but the lumbar support (121 ) includes an element such as a chain, a thread, or a rope, etc. and that element is connected to the wheels (122) and the lumbar support (121 ).
[0044] The gait module (12) includes two holding supports (124). The thinner one of the holding supports (124) is for use by children and is located to allow the patient to hold on while walking. Here, the holding support (124) is adjustable in distance, proximity and height so that the arms of the individual may be easily hold.
[0045] The holding support (124) includes at least one distance adjuster (1241). The distance adjuster (1241) is provided to allow it to be adjusted according to the arm length of the patient. It is important that the rehabilitated individual holds securely on the rehabilitation tool (10) while walking. As the arm length of the rehabilitated individual varies according to the height and age, it is difficult to adjust that function as well.
[0046] The holding support (124) includes at least one height adjuster (1242). Again, as the arm length of the patient will vary according to the height and age, the height of the holding support (124) should be adjusted to allow the patient to easily hold on. In order to achieve this, the holding support (124) in the rehabilitation tool (10) includes at least one height adjuster (1242). Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 show the height adjuster (1242) and distance adjuster (1241 ) elements.
[0047] As may be expected, as there are two holding supports (124) in this invention, each holding support (124) includes at least one height adjuster (1242) and at least one distance adjuster (1241 ).
[0048] By said at least one height adjuster (1242) and at least one distance adjuster (1241), two holding support move upwardly-downwardly and / or inwardly-outwardly relative to the rehabilitation tool (10). The rehabilitation tool (10) of the invention includes at least one movement module (13). The movement module (13) is located in the rehabilitation tool (10) to allow the patients to exercise by mimicking the movements for the treatment of the diseases, weakness and dysfunctions in the elbows, hands, fingers, arms and shoulders, and the recovery of the abilities.
[0049] Accordingly, the movement module (13) includes apparatus for the movements of the elbows, hands, fingers, arms and shoulders in patients.
[0050] As shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the movement module (13) includes at least one handle
[0051] (131 ). The handle (131) is positioned in a fixed position on the lateral parts (112) of the rehabilitation tool (10), as shown in the figures. If preferred, the handle (131) may be located on one of the lateral parts (112). If preferred, the handle (131 ) may be located on both of the lateral parts (112).
[0052] The handle (131 ) allows the patient to exercise by mimicking the movements of the hands, wrists, fingers and arms in the rehabilitation tool (10) and provides the treatment of the movement limitations and dysfunctions related to the hands, wrists, fingers and arms and the recovery of the abilities.
[0053] The handle (131) has a rotatable configuration around its axis. The handle (131) may rotate either full or half a turn so as to be most suitable for the treatment of the individual. In this way, a hand, wrist, finger and arm exercise may be performed.
[0054] The movement module (13) includes a shoulder support (132). The shoulder support
[0055] (132) may also be positioned on either side of the lateral parts (112), similar to the handle (131). The height of the shoulder support (132) has an adjustable configuration according to the patient's height. The patient may perform the treatment of the shoulder-related diseases and dysfunctions by leaning against the shoulder support (132). The shoulder support (132) is positioned on the upper part of the individual (111 ), by being lowering to the waist level of the patient and allowing them to exercise by taking advantage of its height and lowness. Although the shoulder support (132) is used in the treatment of the shoulder-related diseases, weakness and dysfunctions, it may also be used in the treatment of the arm-related diseases, weakness and dysfunctions. The mechanical rehabilitation tool (10) of the invention, together with the elements and configurations contained therein, makes it possible for the patient to perform the exercises that will provide treatment with the minimum assistance of any physiotherapist.
[0056] In addition, the mechanical rehabilitation tool (10) of the invention is functional, and includes elements and configurations that will provide the treatments of the diseases, weakness and dysfunctions in the elbows, wrists, fingers, shoulders, hips, legs and feet.
[0057] The scope of protection of the invention is specified in the attached claims and cannot be limited to what is explained in this detailed description for the exemplary purposes. That is because it is clear that a person skilled in the art may represent similar embodiments in the light of what has been explained above without departing from the main spirit of the invention.
