AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing backpacks with internal frames are bulky and rigid, making them difficult to store due to their large overall volume.

Method used

A collapsible frame design that includes a top frame portion connected to an upper hub, upper and lower frame portions connected to middle and lower hubs, allowing the frame to fold substantially flat and compact by articulation of the hubs.

Benefits of technology

The collapsible frame allows for efficient storage and transportation by reducing the volume of the backpack when not in use, while maintaining structural integrity when deployed.

Abstract

Disclosed herein are collapsible frames for attachment to flexible attachments. The collapsible frames described herein contain frame portions connected to one or more hubs. By articulating a hub or pivoting a frame portion, a user may collapse the collapsible frame substantially flat and compact. Thereafter, the user may deploy the collapsible frame into other configurations, e.g. a carrying configuration or a fully deployed configuration. By collapsing substantially flat, the collapsible frame can be stored with a reduced size.
