Film opening system and method for sleeve wrapping machines

Abstract

The invention relates to a mechanical film opening system and method for stretch hood wrapping machines (1) used in the packaging of palletized loads. The system comprises four opening grippers (6) arranged in opposing pairs, mounted on sliding guides on two orthogonal axes (14, 15), and driven by a motor (12) and a pneumatic cylinder (13). Each gripper incorporates gripping means including a gripper plate (10), a counter-plate (11), and a pneumatic cylinder (9), configured to grip the corners of the tubular film (5). The invention allows the film to be opened without creating a vacuum. The associated method comprises film feeding by means of a feed device (2), guiding by means of plates (7), gripping and opening by means of gripper displacement, and the insertion of collection paddles (18). The system improves reliability, reduces maintenance, and is adaptable to different film and load formats.
