Abstract
Description
Description Title of the invention: PUMP SUPPORT ASSEMBLY AND THERMAL SCREEN FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
[0001] — The present invention relates to an assembly with a pump support and a thermal screen for a heat engine. The invention finds a particularly useful application advantageous, but not exclusive, with internal combustion engine motor vehicles or hybrid.
[0002] — Water pumps are used in a motor vehicle, as is known per se. to circulate a water-based liquid within a cooling circuit.
[0003] — Unlike standard pumps driven by the accessory front panel of the Engine, electric-type water pumps can be installed more freely in the engine environment.
[0004] — Due to the configuration of the coolant pipes, a device transmission and space constraints of components located under the hood of the vehicle, it may be necessary to attach the pump to the engine casing. near an exhaust pipe.
[0005] — There is therefore a need to have a "pump-pump support" assembly compatible with the vibrational and thermal constraints of the engine environment in which the said complex is located.
[0006] — The invention aims to effectively meet the aforementioned needs by offering a assembly for a motor vehicle comprising:
[0007] - a heat engine comprising a casing,
[0008] — - a pump,
[0009] — - a pump support carrying the pump,
[0010] — - said pump support comprising interfaces for fixing to the engine casing thermal and at least one indexing device in the position of said pump support by in relation to the crankcase of the internal combustion engine, and
[0011] — - a thermal screen comprising mounting tabs, each mounting tab being equipped with at least one mounting interface on the internal combustion engine casing, said thermal screen further comprising at least one indexing device in the position of the heat shield in relation to the pump support.
[0012] — The invention thus makes it possible to place the pump in an installation area compact while protecting it from thermal radiation emanating from the exhaust. The invention also contributes to the improvement of the acoustic performance of the vehicle by filtering the vibrations from the internal combustion engine towards the pump. Assembly is also made easier thanks to the presence of the dis- positive indexing of the position of the different components. The invention is also adaptable to the diversity of pumps that can be fixed to the crankcase of the internal combustion engine. According to one embodiment of the invention, the pump is fitted inside a ring-shaped damping element having a base fixed on the pump support. According to one embodiment of the invention, at least one pump support fixing interface and one heat shield fixing interface cooperate with a common fixing member ensuring the fixing of the "pump support-heat shield" assembly to the engine casing. According to one embodiment of the invention, the pump support is advantageously made of a metallic material, in particular steel. According to one embodiment of the invention, the pump support indexing device comprises a lug intended to cooperate with a corresponding hollow shape formed in the housing of the internal combustion engine, According to one embodiment of the invention, the pump support fixing interfaces are located in two different planes. According to one embodiment of the invention, the heat shield comprises a body having a wall in the shape of a portion of a cylinder and a transverse end wall. According to one embodiment of the invention, a hollow projecting portion is formed from the wall in the shape of a portion of a cylinder. According to one embodiment of the invention, the indexing device of the heat shield includes a hole made in a fixing tab intended to cooperate with a corresponding protruding shape provided in the pump support. According to one embodiment of the invention, the indexing device for the heat shield includes a hook formed in an edge of a fixing tab, said hook being intended to cooperate with an edge of the pump support. The invention will be better understood upon reading the following description and examining the accompanying figures. These figures are given for illustrative purposes only and are in no way intended to limit the invention. [fig.1] The (fig.1] is a perspective view of a heat engine showing the area in which a water pump is located; [Kig.2] The (fig.2) is a perspective view of a "pump-pump support-heat shield" assembly intended to be fixed to the crankcase of the internal combustion engine; [fig.3a][fig.3b] Figures 3a and 3b are perspective views illustrating the installation of the "pump-pump support" assembly on the crankcase of the internal combustion engine; [fig.4] Fig.4 is a detailed perspective view of a lug associated with a pump support mounting interface and used for indexing the pump support into position. pump support in relation to the internal combustion engine casing; [fig.5a][fig.5b] Figures 5a and 5b are perspective views illustrating the installation and fixing of the heat shield on the crankcase of the internal combustion engine; [fig.6] Fig.6 is a detailed perspective view of a heat shield indexing hook relative to the pump support. Identical, similar, or analogous elements retain the same reference from one figure to another. Figure 1 shows a motor vehicle internal combustion engine 10 comprising, in particular, a crankcase 11 and a pulley 12 mounted on a crankshaft. The internal combustion engine 10 is coupled with a transmission device 13. A pump 15 shown in Figure 2, in particular an electric water pump (which therefore does not need to be coupled with the crankshaft pulley 12 for its drive), is intended to be installed in an area 16 located under a starter 18 and near a portion of an exhaust line (not shown). As can be seen in [fig.2], the pump 15 is carried by a pump support 17 intended to be fixed on the casing 11 of the internal combustion engine 10 in the mounting area 16. The pump 15 has a water inlet 22 and a water outlet 23. More specifically, the pump 15 is fitted inside a ring-shaped damping element 19 having a base 20 fixed to the pump support 17. For this purpose, the base 20 has lugs 21 inserted into grooves in the pump support 15 and held in place by means of circlip-type elastic fasteners. Alternatively, the base 20 may be screwed, riveted, or bonded to the pump support 17. Advantageously, the damping element 19 is made of an elastic material, such as an elastomer or a rubber material. The pump support 17 has mounting interfaces 24.1, 24.2, 24.3 on the housing 11 of the internal combustion engine 10 and at least one indexing device 26 in the position of said pump support 17 relative to the housing 11 of the internal combustion engine 10. In this case, as can be clearly seen in Figures 3a and 3b, the pump support 17 has three mounting interfaces 24.1, 24.2, 24.3 but it could have a different number to adapt to other environments of internal combustion engine 10. A fastening interface 24.1, 24.2, 24.3 has an opening into which a fastener, such as a stud or a screw, is inserted. In the embodiment shown, the fastening interface 24.1 has an opening for the passage of a stud 27 from the housing 11 of the internal combustion engine 10. A nut 28 is intended to cooperate with the stud 27. The fastening interfaces 24.2 and 24.3 each have an opening for the passage of a corresponding screw 30 (see [Fig. 5b]). As explained in more detail below, the screws 30 are intended to also cooperate with the fixing interfaces of a thermal screen 37. The fixing interfaces 24.1, 24.2, and 24.3 can be located on two different parallel planes. Thus, fixing interfaces 24.1 and 24.2 can be located in the same plane, while fixing interface 24.3 can be located in a different plane. As can be seen in [fig.4], the indexing device 26 of the pump support 17 has a lug 32 located near a fixing interface 24.2 and / or 24.3. This lug 32 is intended to cooperate with a corresponding hollow form 33 provided in the housing 11 of the internal combustion engine 10. The lug 32 is formed by a projecting portion of the pump support 17, in particular of cylindrical shape. As shown in [Fig. 2], the pump support 17 is advantageously made of a plate formed by stamping. The pump support 17 is made of a metallic material, in particular steel. The pump support 17 comprises three portions 17.1, 17.2, 17.3 extending along three distinct planes: two portions 17.1, 17.3 comprising the fixing interfaces 24.1, 24.2, 24.3 and an intermediate portion 17.2 on which the base 20 of the damping element 19 is fixed. These three portions 17.1-17.3 are connected to each other by connecting portions 17.4, 17.5 formed by stamping. The thickness of the pump support 17 is preferably around 3mm. By "around", we mean a variation of plus or minus 10% from the stated value. Such a configuration of the pump support 17 makes it possible to effectively filter the vibrations of the thermal engine 10 up to frequencies above the first critical mode of the thermal engine 10 located around 200 Hz, in particular up to a frequency of the order of 300 Hz. Furthermore, the heat shield 37 has mounting tabs 38, each equipped with at least one mounting interface 39.1, 39.2 on the housing 11 of the internal combustion engine 10 and at least one indexing device 40 in the position of the heat shield 37 relative to the pump support 17. The heat shield 37 is intended to extend between the pump 15 and a portion of an exhaust line. A fastening interface 39.1, 39.2 has an opening inside which a fastening element, such as a screw, is inserted. Advantageously, a mounting interface 24.2, 24.3 of the pump support 17 and a mounting interface 39.1, 39.2 of the heat shield 37 cooperate with a common mounting screw 30, ensuring that the assembly is fixed to the housing 11 of the internal combustion engine 10. Thus, the same mounting screw 30 is inserted into the through hole of a mounting interface 24.2, 24.3 of the pump support 17 and the through hole of the mounting interface 39.1, 39.2 of a mounting tab 38 of the heat shield. thermal 37 which coincide with each other. This makes it easier to fix the "pump support 17-thermal screen 37" assembly. As can be seen in figures Sa and 5b, the indexing device 40 has a hole 42 made in a fixing tab 38 intended to cooperate with a corresponding protruding shape 43 provided in the pump support 17. In addition, as can be clearly seen in [fig.6], a hook 45 provided in an edge of a tab is intended to cooperate with an edge of the pump support 17. More specifically, the heat shield 37 comprises a body 47 to which the two mounting tabs 38 are attached, as shown in [Fig. 2]. The body 47 has a wall 48 in the shape of a portion of a cylinder and a transverse end wall 49. The transverse end wall 49 extends perpendicularly to an axis of the wall 48 in the shape of a portion of a cylinder. A hollow, projecting portion 50 is formed from the cylindrical portion 48. This portion 50 extends radially from an axis of the wall 48. This configuration allows for adaptation to different types of pumps 15 that can be used, including low-temperature and high-temperature pumps with different configurations. This avoids any interference between the heat shield 37 and the different types of pumps 15 that have different mounting interfaces. Preferably, the heat shield 37 is made of sheet metal, especially steel, which is particularly well suited to the thermal radiation emanating from an exhaust pipe of the internal combustion engine 10. The following are described the different assembly steps of the "pump 15-pump support 17-heat shield 37" assembly on the casing 1 1 of the internal combustion engine 10. Initially, the pump 15 is secured to the pump support 17 by fitting it inside the damping element 19. Next, the pump support 17 is placed in the mounting area 16. For this purpose, as shown in [Fig. 3a], the pump support 17 is positioned so that the stud 27 enters the opening of the mounting interface 24.1, and a lug 32 of the pump support 17 is made to cooperate with a corresponding hollow shape of the motor housing 11. The operator can then screw a nut 28 onto the threaded stud 27, as shown in [Fig. 3b]. As can be seen in [fig.5a], the heat shield 37 is then put in place by making the hook 45 provided in an edge of a fixing tab 38 cooperate with an edge of the pump support 17. In addition, an indexing hole 42 is made to cooperate with a corresponding protruding shape 43 provided in the pump support 17. This ensures correct positioning of the heat shield 37 relative to the support. As illustrated by [Fig. 5b], it is then possible to screw in two screws 30 to fix the assembly formed by the heat shield 37 and the pump support 17 onto the housing 11 of the internal combustion engine 10. A screw 30 is inserted into an opening 39.1 (respectively 39.2) of a mounting tab 38 of the heat shield 37 located in coincidence with a corresponding opening 24.2 (respectively 24.3) of the pump support 17 and a corresponding threaded opening in the housing 11 of the internal combustion engine 10. A tab 38 of the heat shield 37 and a portion of the pump support 17 are then held tightly between a head of the screw 30 and the housing 11 of the internal combustion engine 10. All stages of the assembly process can be carried out by an operator or automatically by a robot.
