Abstract

The present invention relates to novel cosmetic compositions and their use. The compositions, based on aloe vera juice, arginine, and at least one oil, are free of added water but nevertheless possess rheological and sensory properties suitable for cosmetic use. (no figures)

[0001] The present invention relates to new cosmetic compositions. The invention also relates to their use.

[0002] Aloe vera is a commercially very important crop and is used in food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic applications. Aloe vera juices and gels are particularly known for having beneficial properties for the skin and hair, for example, in wound healing, as an aid against skin aging, or as a humectant.

[0003] However, although aloe vera juice naturally contains water, cosmetic compositions currently on the market contain more water, intentionally added to the formulations, than that naturally present in the juice, resulting in highly diluted compositions. This added water is used to achieve the desired rheological and sensory properties of a cosmetic composition. Thus, compositions currently on the market often contain more than 50% water by mass.

[0004] However, the water added in the cosmetics industry is water that has undergone chemical purification steps.

[0005] Moreover, the addition of water leads to "heavier" products, having a negative impact on the cost of transporting the production unit to the customer, but also on the environment, linked to the fact that fresh water is becoming increasingly scarce on earth.

[0006] Finally, the presence of added water leads to a dilution of the active ingredients, resulting in a cosmetic product diluted in active ingredients.

[0007] To overcome these problems, there is a need to prepare cosmetic compositions without added water, but which nevertheless have rheological and sensory properties in line with consumer expectations, and which are concentrated in active ingredients due to the absence of dilution. CONTEXT OF THE INVENTION

[0008] One of the aims of the invention is to provide a new association comprising aloe vera juice, without added water.

[0009] Another object of the invention is a new cosmetic composition of aloe vera juice, free from added water.

[0010] Another object of the invention is to be able to use the new association, or a composition comprising it, as a cosmetic composition.

[0011] Another object of the invention is to provide a natural cosmetic composition, free from products obtained by synthetic means.

[0012] The inventors have undertaken extensive research in order to develop These cosmetic compositions possess desirable properties, particularly sensory ones, including good rinsing, excellent detangling power, a feeling of softness on the skin and hair, rapid and melting absorption into the skin and hair, and ease of application. These compositions, while concentrated in active ingredients, are free of preservatives of non-natural origin.

[0016] "Aloe vera juice" is a juice contained in the leaves of a plant of the same name. The juice is typically extracted by cutting the tip of the leaf and then squeezing the leaf.

[0017] In the context of the present invention, this refers in particular to a juice corresponding to the INCI name "aloe Barbadensis LeafJuice". The isolated juice is unstable, since some of its components degrade upon contact with ambient oxygen. Thus, the juice used in the combination and cosmetic composition according to the present invention is stabilized by pentylene glycol, in particular at a concentration of approximately 7% by mass.

[0018] The aloe vera used in the present invention is in particular the product "1:1 Fair Trade Organic Pure Aloe Vera Juice PentG (7%)", marketed by the company Greentech (INCI Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Pentylene Glycol). The process for obtaining this commercial product consists of clarifying the pure native aloe vera juice, isolated from the plant, followed by the addition of pentylene glycol, and then filtration.
