Abstract

MAKEUP PALETTE WITH REMOVABLE BRUSH CLEANER A makeup palette case includes at least one replaceable applicator cleaner receptacle disposed in a makeup palette case. The replaceable applicator cleaner receptacle has an applicator cleaning element received in the replaceable applicator cleaner receptacle and a makeup composition disposed in the makeup palette case. The replaceable applicator cleaner receptacle is reciprocable between a closed state and an open state. Title of the invention: MAKE-UP PALETTE WITH REMOVABLE BRUSH CLEANER CONTEXT

[0001] Makeup palettes offer consumers a variety of different makeup shades in one convenient package. Many palettes come with a single applicator that must be cleaned between applications of different shades to prevent cross-contamination between colors.

[0002] The present disclosure relates to makeup palettes having at least one makeup composition. In some embodiments, the makeup palette further includes an applicator. In some embodiments, a user applies the makeup composition with an applicator that is not stored in the palette. The makeup palette further includes a cleaning assembly including an applicator cleaner that removes excess makeup from the applicator and is configured to isolate the cleaner from the interior of the makeup palette when the lid is closed.

[0030] FIGURES 1 and 2 show an illustration of one embodiment of a makeup palette 100 in a closed state and an open state, respectively. In one embodiment, the makeup palette 100 includes a housing 110 that can be used to hold a makeup product 156, such as a pressed powder used for blush, eyeshadow, and the like. In one embodiment, the pressed powder is provided in a removable tray that allows the user to change the tray to replace the tray with a different formulation or to replace an empty tray with a full tray. A plurality of trays, each with a different formulation, can be made available to the user so that the user can select the tray and formulation to be placed in the makeup palette 100.In one embodiment, the formulation may include compact powders; however, in other embodiments, the formulation may include ointments, gels, salves, creams, lotions, and the like. In a . embodiment, the housing 110 also contains an applicator 192 for applying makeup.

The base 172 and the lid 180 include locking portions 178 and 182, respectively, which form a latch 188 that releasably couples the lid to the base when the applicator cleaner receptacle 170 is in the closed state. In one embodiment, the base 172 and the lid 180 cooperate to form a rectangular container. In one embodiment, the container is circular, oval, square, or any other suitable shape. In one embodiment, the base 172 and the lid 180 are not coupled by a hinge. In one embodiment, the base 172 and the lid 180 are releasably coupled by an interference fit, snaps, offset latches, hook and latch fasteners, or any other suitable coupling device.

A makeup palette housing (110), comprising: - a first base (130) and a first cover (120) rotatably coupled to said first base about a first axis (114); - at least one replaceable applicator cleaner receptacle (170) disposed in an orifice (144) of the first base, the replaceable applicator cleaner receptacle including: a second base (172); a second cover (180) rotatably coupled to said second base about a second axis (186); and an applicator cleaning element (190) received in the second base; and - a makeup composition disposed in the makeup palette housing;wherein the second cover of the replaceable applicator cleaner receptacle is movable relative to the second base between a closed state and an open state, the applicator cleaning element being isolated from the makeup composition when the replaceable applicator cleaner receptacle is in the closed state; and wherein the first base (130) of the housing includes a first locking feature (146), and the second base (172) of the replaceable applicator cleaner receptacle includes a second locking feature (174), wherein the first locking feature is configured to engage with the second locking feature to releasably secure the applicator cleaner receptacle (170) to the first base (130).;

The makeup palette case of claim 1, wherein the first locking feature has a first engaging surface (148), and the second locking feature includes a second engaging surface (176), the first engaging surface engaging the second engaging surface to removably secure the applicator cleaner receptacle (170) to the first base (130).

3. The makeup palette of claim 2, wherein one (146) of the first locking feature or the second locking feature is a flexible locking tab.

4. The makeup palette of claim 1, wherein the applicator cleaning member (190) comprises a porous member without a cleaning composition.

5. The makeup palette of claim 1, wherein the replaceable applicator cleaner receptacle comprises a scrubbing member (292) including a textured surface for cleaning an applicator.

6. The makeup palette of claim 1, wherein the applicator cleaning member (190) comprises a reusable sponge; wherein the reusable porous sponge is made of one or more abrasive textured materials.
