Abstract

A method for calculating (1) an operating parameter of a digester adapted to produce digestate and biogas containing methane, said method comprising the following steps: - A step of defining (2) a concentration range for an input to the digester and a temperature range for the operation; - A preliminary estimation step (3) of an intermediate concentration; - A determination step (4) of the pH within the digester; - A estimation step (5) of a concentration of at least one inhibitory compound present within the digester; - A identification step (6) of one or more microorganisms with limiting kinetics present in the digester; - A prediction step (7) of the maximum growth rate of the microorganism(s) identified; - A identification step (8) of the maximum permissible load in the digester;and - A calculation step (9) of said digester operating parameter as a function of the maximum permissible load identified.
