Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Reinforced plastic seat back shell Technical field
[0001] The invention relates to a plastic shell for the back of a vehicle seat, reinforced to improve its resistance to an impact on its edge, which may be caused by a baby seat attachment belt. Prior art
[0002] It is known to produce a vehicle seat by means of an articulated seat and backrest. The backrest is conventionally produced by means of a plastic shell, generally produced by plastic molding. Said plastic shell serves as a structure for the backrest. It is completed by padding or cushion, arranged on the front face, relative to the plastic shell.
[0003] It is also known to place a baby seat on a vehicle seat and to fix the high point of the baby seat on the back of a vehicle seat by means of a belt rising from the baby seat, on the front face of the back, substantially vertically, passing between the legs of the headrest, wrapping around the upper edge of the backrest, to come down and be fixed to an anchor arranged on the back of the backrest.
[0004] During crash testing, the belt impacts the upper edge of the backrest, the plastic shell of which can break.
[0005] Also, a way is sought to avoid this rupture. Summary of the invention
[0006] For this, the invention relates to a plastic shell for a vehicle seat back, comprising at least two stiffeners configured so as to be arranged opposite a seat strap, in particular a child seat strap, intended to bear on said vehicle seat back, in particular, the at least two stiffeners are arranged at an edge of the plastic shell.
[0007] Particular characteristics or embodiments, usable alone or in combination, are:
[0008] - the edge has a profile substantially folded towards the front face and the stiffeners are arranged in the fold, approximately perpendicular to the edge,
[0009] - the stiffeners are substantially flat and substantially parallel to each other,
[0010] - the stiffeners are arranged over a reinforced width, measured parallel to the border, between 3 and 10 cm,
[0011] - the reinforced width is at least equal to the width of a fixing belt of a baby seat,
[0012] - the stiffeners are equally distributed over the reinforced width,
[0013] - the number of stiffeners is between 2 and 20,
[0014] - the stiffeners are arranged substantially along the upper edge of the plastic shell,
[0015] - the stiffeners are arranged substantially in the middle of the edge of the hull plastic,
[0016] - the stiffeners are made of the same material as the plastic shell.
[0017] According to a second aspect of the invention, a vehicle seat back comprising such a plastic shell.
[0018] The subject of the invention is a plastic shell for a vehicle seat back, comprising at least two stiffeners configured so as to be arranged opposite a seat strap, in particular a child seat strap, at least a part of said child seat being intended to rest on said vehicle seat back. Brief description of the drawings
[0019] The invention will be better understood on reading the following description, given solely by way of example, and with reference to the appended figures in which:
[0020] [Fig-1] - [Fig.l] shows, in front perspective view, a backrest shell,
[0021] [Fig.2] - [Fig.2] shows, in perspective view from the back, the same backrest shell,
[0022] [Fig.3] - [Fig.3] shows, in perspective view, the detail of the stiffeners. Description of the embodiments
[0023] A vehicle seat comprises a seat and a backrest hinged together. The backrest is conventionally made using a plastic shell, generally made by plastic molding. Said plastic shell serves as a structure for the backrest. It is completed by padding or cushion, arranged on the front face, relative to the plastic shell.
[0024] A baby seat can be placed on a vehicle seat. It is placed on the seat cushion, resting at the rear against the back cushion. It is fixed by several points. A high fixing point fixes the high point of the baby seat on the back of the vehicle seat by means of a belt C rising from the baby seat, along the front face of the back, passing between the legs T of the headrest, as illustrated in [Fig.l], winding from front to back around the upper edge 3 of the back, to come down and be fixed to an anchor A arranged on the back of the back, in the rear face of the plastic shell 1, as illustrated in [Fig.2].
[0025] With reference to [Fig.l], the invention relates to a plastic shell 1. This plastic shell 1 is the structural shell of a vehicle seat back. In order to allow this plastic shell 1 to withstand an impact on its edge 3 caused by a belt C for fixing a baby seat, the invention proposes to reinforce the plastic shell 1.
[0026] For this, according to a characteristic of the invention, more particularly illustrated in [Fig.3], the plastic shell 1 comprises at least two stiffeners 2 arranged at the level of an edge 3 of the plastic shell 1.
[0027] The plastic shell 1 has a substantially flat shape, substantially delimited by a rectangle with rounded corners. The edges 3, substantially rectilinear, have a transverse profile substantially folded forward. Thus the plastic shell 1 forms a receptacle capable of receiving the back cushion, arranged on the front face of the plastic shell 1.
[0028] According to another characteristic, more particularly illustrated in [Fig. 3], the stiffeners 2 are arranged in the fold, formed by the profile of the edge 3. They advantageously form buttresses or ribs, by connecting the two edges of the fold. The stiffeners 2 are preferably arranged substantially perpendicular to the edge 3. In addition, the stiffeners 2 are preferably arranged perpendicular to the mean plane of the plastic shell 1.
[0029] According to another characteristic, the stiffeners 2 are substantially flat and substantially parallel to each other.
[0030] According to another characteristic, the stiffeners 2 are arranged on a reduced portion of the edge 3, over a reinforced width 4, measured parallel to the edge 3, this reinforced width 4 being between 3 and 10 cm.
[0031] According to another characteristic, the reinforced width 4 is at least equal to the width of a belt C for fixing a baby seat. Advantageously, in order not to consume too much material, the reinforced width 4 is advantageously equal to the width of the belt C.
[0032] Advantageously, in order to distribute the forces well in the event of impact, according to another characteristic, the stiffeners 2 are regularly arranged over the reinforced width 4 and equally distributed, i.e. with a constant gap between two adjacent stiffeners 2.
[0033] For this, the number of stiffeners 2 is between a minimum of 2 allowing little force to be absorbed and a maximum. The greater the number of stiffeners 2, the better the reinforcement of the edge 3 of the plastic shell 1. The maximum number is determined by the manufacturing constraints. Taking into account the dimensions to be covered, i.e. the reinforced width 4, a maximum number of 20 is reasonably retained.
[0034] The stiffeners 2 are designed to be arranged, in line with the passage of the belt C, under the support point of the belt C. As regards the upper anchoring point of the baby seat, the belt C passes between the two legs T of the headrest and wraps around the edge 3 of the plastic shell 1, i.e. around the upper edge 3, to reach the anchoring A. Also, according to another characteristic, the stiffeners 2 are arranged substantially in the middle of the upper edge 3 of the plastic shell 1.
[0035] According to another advantageous characteristic, the stiffeners 2 are made of material with the plastic shell 1. The plastic shell 1 is conventionally produced by injection molding. It is necessary to modify the mold of the plastic shell 1 to integrate the stiffeners 2. This is the only modification induced in the manufacturing range by the invention. Then the plastic shell 1 reinforced by the invention can be used in a strictly identical manner.
[0036] The invention also relates to a vehicle seat comprising such a plastic shell 1, in particular a motor vehicle seat shell.
[0037] The invention has been illustrated and described in detail in the drawings and the preceding description. This should be considered as illustrative and given by way of example and not as limiting the invention to this description alone. Numerous alternative embodiments are possible.
