Description

Title of the invention: Power supply circuit for a vehicle electrical energy storage unit

[0001] The present invention relates to a contactless electrical power supply circuit for a vehicle electrical energy storage unit.

[0002] The electrical energy storage unit has, for example, a nominal voltage of 12V, 48V, 60V or more, for example greater than 300V, for example 400V, 800V or 1000V.

[0003] It is known to electrically power a vehicle electrical energy storage unit by contactless transmission using inductive coupling, when the vehicle is stationary or when it is moving. This power supply by contactless transmission is then carried out by means of magnetically coupled remote electrical sub-circuits tuned to the same resonant frequency. The magnetically coupled sub-circuits each implement an LC type resonant cell.

[0004] The known solution consists of applying an alternating voltage to the terminals of a primary inductive cell coupled by inductive coupling to a secondary inductive cell at the terminals of which the induced alternating voltage is rectified to supply an electrical energy storage unit, for example an electric vehicle battery.

[0005] In the known solution, a DC / AC converter dedicated to voltage rectification for charging the electrical energy storage unit is necessary. This DC / AC converter is added to the one already present, also called an inverter / rectifier, to supply alternating voltage to the stator of the rotating electrical machine used to propel the vehicle.

[0006] It is then necessary to install several DC / AC converters in the vehicle, which creates bulk, additional cost and increases the weight of the vehicle.

[0007] There is a need to remedy all or part of the aforementioned drawbacks.

[0008] The invention meets this need, according to one of its aspects, using an electrical circuit comprising:

[0009] - an inductive cell for contactless energy exchange,

[0010] - an electrical energy storage unit,

[0011] - an inverter / rectifier connected to the energy storage unit and capable of being connected to the phases of a stator of a rotating electrical machine for propelling a vehicle, the inverter / rectifier comprising a first and a second switching arm,

[0012] in which,

[0013] the first terminal of the inductive cell is connected to the first switching arm of the inverter / rectifier,

[0014] the second terminal of the inductive cell is connected to the second switching arm of the inverter / rectifier.

[0015] The connection between a terminal of the inductive cell and a switching arm may or may not be made via physical components interposed in series, for example via an inductor and a capacitor.

[0016] The invention as defined above makes it possible, by connecting the terminals of the inductive cell to the switching arms of the inverter / rectifier connected to the phases of the rotating electrical machine, to use this inverter / rectifier not only in the context of vehicle propulsion to supply alternating voltage to the stator of the rotating electrical machine providing all or part of the propulsion of the vehicle, but also in the context of charging the electrical energy storage unit to rectify an induced alternating voltage. This addresses the aforementioned problems of weight, size and cost.

[0017] The inverter / rectifier, which is for example three-phase, can then be arranged so as to be:

[0018] - in a first power path between the inductive cell and the unit of electrical energy storage, and

[0019] - in a second power path between the energy storage unit electric and the stator of the rotating electric machine.

[0020] Since the charging of the electrical energy storage unit does not occur at the same time as the propulsion of the vehicle, these two power paths are not simultaneously active.

[0021] The inverter / rectifier may comprise:

[0022] - a first switching arm, comprising two electronic switches com- can be ordered in series on either side of a first midpoint,

[0023] - a second switching arm, comprising two electronic switches controllable in series on either side of a second midpoint,

[0024] - a third switching arm, comprising two electronic switches controllable in series on either side of a third midpoint,

[0025] the first, second, and third switching arms are mounted in parallel,

[0026] the inverter / rectifier is capable of being connected to a three-phase stator of the rotating electrical machine, the first, second, and third midpoints being capable of being connected respectively to the different phases of the stator,

[0027] the first terminal of the inductive cell is connected to the first midpoint, and

[0028] the second terminal of the inductive cell is connected to the second midpoint.

[0029] The stator phases are in this case connected in star or delta.

[0030] The switching frequencies of the first, second and third switching arms may be different.

[0031] The inverter / rectifier is for example configured to perform impedance matching, by varying the equivalent impedance between the first and second midpoints, independently of the equivalent impedance of the load represented by the electrical energy storage unit.

[0032] In this case, one of the first and second switching arms can switch at the frequency of the contactless energy exchanged, and the other of the first and second arms can switch at a higher frequency, for example equal to or greater than 5 times the contactless energy exchange frequency.

[0033] The inverter / rectifier is for example configured, during propulsion of the vehicle, so that its three switching arms switch at the same frequency.

[0034] At least one of the terminals of the inductive cell may be connected to a switching arm of the inverter / rectifier by a switch. This switch may for example comprise a transistor.

[0035] Advantageously, the presence of this switch makes it possible to isolate the electrical energy storage unit from the inverter / rectifier when the latter electrically supplies the stator of the rotating electrical machine. This improves safety in the circuit.

[0036] Each terminal of the inductive cell is for example connected to a switching arm of the inverter / rectifier by a switch.

[0037] The circuit may comprise at least one switch by which a switching arm of the inverter is capable of being connected to a phase of the stator of the rotating electrical machine.

[0038] The circuit comprises, for example, for each switching arm to which a terminal of the inductive cell is connected, a switch by which this switching arm of the inverter / rectifier is capable of being connected to a phase of the stator of the rotating electrical machine. This variant is another way of isolating the electrical energy storage unit from the stator of the rotating electrical machine, and therefore of improving safety in the electrical circuit.

[0039] If necessary, a DC / DC converter can be connected in series between the electrical storage unit and the inverter / rectifier.

[0040] The electrical energy storage unit may have a voltage greater than or equal to 60 volts. Typically, the electrical energy storage unit may be a lithium-ion type battery. This battery has, for example, a nominal voltage of 12V, 48V, 60V or more, for example greater than 300V, for example 400V, 800V or 1000V.

[0041] The contactless exchange by inductive coupling of electrical energy is carried out for example at a frequency lower than 5 kHz, for example lower than 3 kHz, or even in- lower than 2kHz or 1kHz, notably still substantially equal to 400 Hz or 50 Hz.

[0042] As already mentioned, the inverter / rectifier can allow, when charging the electrical energy storage unit, to carry out an impedance adaptation, by:

[0043] - controlling a first switching arm in switching at the frequency of the contactless energy transfer, and

[0044] - controlling a second switching arm in switching at a frequency equal to several times that of the frequency of contactless energy transfer,

[0045] The invention also relates to an electrical power supply circuit for an electrical energy storage unit, this electrical power supply circuit comprising:

[0046] - a first circuit called “primary circuit” and

[0047] - a second circuit called “secondary circuit”, corresponding to the circuit defined above- above,

[0048] the primary circuit being capable of being connected to a voltage network and comprising:

[0049] - a primary inverter / rectifier, capable of being connected to the voltage network, if applicable possibly via another primary inverter / rectifier, and

[0050] - a primary inductive cell for contactless energy exchange,

[0051] the primary and secondary circuits being configured to exchange energy without contact via the inductive cells.

[0052] Each of the primary circuit and the secondary circuit may include a control unit configured to control the switching frequency of the switching arms.

[0053] Alternatively, a single control unit, for example a digital processing circuit, may be provided, this control unit controlling the switching arms of the primary circuit and the secondary circuit.

[0054] As a further variant, the control unit is common to the primary circuit and to the secondary circuit, and it comprises a primary circuit control module and a secondary circuit control module.

[0055] The primary circuit may include a capacitor having a first terminal connected to a terminal of the inductive cell and a second terminal connected to the primary inverter / rectifier.

[0056] The electrical network provides, for example, a nominal effective voltage of 230V or 110V with a frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The electrical network is, for example, single-phase.

[0057] The electrical network is, for example, a regional or national electrical network. Alternatively, it may be an independent local network, comprising, for example, one or more batteries powered by energy sources such as wind turbines, solar panels, fuel cells or hydroelectric generators.

[0058] In order to allow a contactless exchange of electrical energy between the circuit primary and secondary circuit, the inductive cell of the primary circuit and the inductive cell of the secondary circuit are configured to exchange electrical energy without contact by inductive coupling.

[0059] The primary inductive cell may comprise a coil for generating magnetic energy and the secondary inductive cell may comprise a coil for recovering magnetic energy from the primary inductive cell.

[0060] As already mentioned, the contactless exchange by inductive coupling of electrical energy can be carried out at a frequency lower than 5 kHz, for example lower than 3 kHz, or even lower than 2 kHz or 1 kHz, in particular still substantially equal to 400 Hz or 50 Hz.

[0061] In all of the above, the control units may be configured to control the various switching arms so as to selectively perform:

[0062] - a charge of the electrical energy storage unit from the voltage network, Or

[0063] - a load of the voltage network from the electrical energy storage unit.

[0064] Thus, depending on the need, the exchange of electrical energy can be carried out in one direction or the other.

[0065] In all of the above, each controllable electronic switch is for example a transistor, for example bipolar, MOS or IGBT, or a thyristor. Each controllable electronic switch is for example bidirectional.

[0066] In all of the above, each control unit may be a digital processing circuit, for example an ASIC type integrated circuit (Application-specific integrated circuit) or a microcontroller.

[0067] The invention also relates, according to another of its aspects, to an electrical circuit intended to be installed on a vehicle, comprising:

[0068] - an inductive cell for contactless energy exchange,

[0069] - an electrical energy storage unit,

[0070] - a rotating electric propulsion machine, and

[0071] - a single inverter / rectifier, comprising at least two switching arms, each of the two switching arms being connected to the inductive cell and to at least one phase of the stator of the rotating electrical machine to alternately allow the charging of the electrical energy storage unit by rectifying the voltage induced at the terminals of the inductive cell and the power supply of the stator of the rotating electrical machine.

[0072] All of the above still applies to this other aspect of the invention.

[0073] The connection of a switching arm to a phase of the stator and to the inductive cell is made for example via a midpoint of this switching arm.

[0074] At least one switch may be present between the switching arm and the cell inductive or between the switching arm and the stator phase.

[0075] Such a circuit may constitute a secondary circuit, similarly to what has been described previously, and be associated with the primary circuit described previously.

[0076] Similar to what has already been mentioned, the single inverter / rectifier can allow, when charging the electrical energy storage unit, to carry out an impedance adaptation, as described above.

[0077] The invention also relates, according to another of its aspects, to a component for the electrical power supply of an electrical energy storage unit, comprising the electrical circuit according to any one of the above aspects, the component defining in particular a structure supporting the primary circuit and the secondary circuit in a rigidly coupled manner. Such a component is commonly called an “on-board charger”. This component is capable of being embedded in a hybrid or electric vehicle.

[0078] The invention also relates, according to another of its aspects, to a device for supplying electricity to an electrical energy storage unit, comprising:

[0079] - a charging station for a hybrid or electric vehicle, in which is arranged the primary circuit of the electrical circuit as defined above, and

[0080] - a component capable of being embedded in a hybrid or electric vehicle, in in which the secondary circuit of the electrical circuit as defined above is arranged.

[0081] This terminal then receives electrical energy from an electrical network via a cable which can be a single-phase cable or a three-phase cable. In this case, the primary circuit and the secondary circuit are not integrated into the same physical component.

[0082] The vehicle to which the electrical energy storage unit belongs is, for example, an electric or hybrid vehicle.

[0083] The invention may be better understood by reading the following description of a non-limiting example of its implementation and by examining the attached drawing in which:

[0084] [Fig. 1] schematically represents a part of an electrical power supply circuit of an electrical energy storage unit, according to a first example of implementation of the invention, and

[0085] [Fig.2] schematically represents the electrical supply circuit including which is represented in [Fig.l].

[0086] [Fig.l] shows a circuit 60 comprising:

[0087] - an inductive cell 16 for contactless energy exchange,

[0088] - an electrical energy storage unit 20,

[0089] - an inverter / rectifier 7 connected to the energy storage unit 20 and to the phases of a stator 8 of a rotating electric propulsion machine, for example of an electric vehicle.

[0090] The first terminal of the inductive cell 16 is connected to a first switching arm of the inverter / rectifier 7,

[0091] The second terminal of the inductive cell 16 is connected to a second switching arm of the inverter / rectifier 7.

[0092] In the example described, between the first and second switching arms of the inverter / rectifier 7 are mounted in series a primary impedance of value Zp and the primary inductive cell 16. The primary impedance of value Zp comprises in series an inductance 18 and a capacitor 24.

[0093] The circuit 60 of [Fig.l], also called “secondary circuit” is integrated into the electrical power supply circuit of the electrical energy storage unit 20.

[0094] As shown in [Fig.2], the secondary circuit 60 may be configured to exchange energy without contact with a primary circuit 40.

[0095] As shown in [Fig.2], the primary circuit 40 is connected to a voltage network 2 and comprises:

[0096] - a first primary inverter / rectifier 44 and a second inverter / rectifier primary 46 connected in series, the first primary inverter / rectifier 44 being connected to the voltage network 2,

[0097] - a primary inductive cell 48 for contactless energy exchange, and

[0098] - a capacitor 42.

[0099] The capacitor 42 is connected to a first terminal of the primary inductive cell 48 and to the second primary inverter / rectifier 46. The second terminal of the primary inductive cell 48 is connected to the second primary inverter / rectifier 46.

[0100] The secondary circuit 60 comprises, as already mentioned, a secondary inductive cell 16 for contactless energy exchange, an electrical energy storage unit 20, and a secondary inverter / rectifier 7 connected to the energy storage unit 20 and to the stator phases of the rotating electrical machine 8.

[0101] The primary and secondary circuits are configured to exchange energy without contact via the inductive cells.

[0102] The electrical power supply circuit implements a contactless exchange of electrical energy by inductive coupling between the primary circuit 40 and the secondary circuit 60, for charging the electrical energy storage unit 20.

[0103] In the example considered, the secondary voltage inverter / rectifier 7 is unique, and it comprises:

[0104] - a first switching arm B1, comprising two electronic switches 12 controllable in series on either side of a first midpoint,

[0105] - a second switching arm B2, comprising two electronic switches 12 controllable in series on either side of a second midpoint, and

[0106] - a third switching arm B3, comprising two electronic switches 12 controllable in series on either side of a third midpoint.

[0107] Each controllable electronic switch comprises, for example, a MOS, IGBT or bipolar transistor, or a thyristor.

[0108] The first B1, second B2, and third B3 switching arms are mounted in parallel, and the first, second, and third midpoints are respectively connected to the different phases of the stator of the rotating electrical machine 8.

[0109] The first terminal of the secondary inductive cell 16 is connected to the first midpoint, and the second terminal of the secondary inductive cell 16 is connected to the second midpoint.

[0110] The primary inductive cell 16 comprises, for example, a coil enabling the generation of magnetic energy and the secondary inductive cell 48 comprises, for example, a coil enabling the recovery of magnetic energy from the primary inductive cell by magnetic coupling.

[0111] The voltage network 2 provides, for example, a nominal effective voltage of 230V or 110V, with a frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The voltage network 2 is here single-phase, so that the voltage across the terminals of the secondary voltage inverter / rectifier 7 is also single-phase.

[0112] In the example considered, the switching frequencies of the first B1, second B2 and third B3 switching arms may be different when charging the electrical energy storage unit 20. The switching frequency used on one of the switching arms B1 and B2 of the secondary circuit 60 is for example higher than the power transmission frequency, for example at least 5 times higher, while the other of the switching arms B1 and B2 switches at the power transmission frequency.

[0113] The electrical energy storage unit is for example connected to the secondary inverter / rectifier 7 by a DC / DC converter 22.

[0114] The DC / DC converter 22 is for example mounted in parallel with these three arms B1, B2 and B3.

[0115] The invention has been described above with the help of embodiments shown in the figure, without limitation of the general inventive concept.

[0116] Many other modifications and variations suggest themselves to those skilled in the art, after reflection on the different embodiments illustrated in this application.

[0117] These embodiments are given by way of example and are not intended to limit the scope of the invention, which is determined exclusively by the claims below.

[0118] In the claims, the word “comprising” does not exclude other elements or steps.

[0119] The mere fact that different features are recited in mutually dependent claims does not indicate that a combination of these features cannot be advantageously used. Finally, any reference used in the claims should not be interpreted as a limitation of the scope of the invention.
