Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: OIL-IN-WATER EMULSION COMPOSITION FOR REVITALIZING HAIR Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to a hair conditioning composition. In particular, the present invention relates to a hair conditioning composition in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion. The present invention also relates to a hair conditioning process. STATE OF THE ART
[0002] Hair is generally damaged and weakened by the action of external atmospheric agents such as light, weather conditions and / or the action of mechanical or chemical treatments such as brushing, combing, dyeing, bleaching, perming and / or straightening.
[0003] There are many products developed to revitalize hair.
[0004] Hair oils and leave-in conditioners are the major products in the leave-in category, while hair oils are the largest and most popular leave-in products among consumers due to their high cosmetic effect and shine, although consumers are concerned about their greasy feel. Some consumers have preferred leave-in conditioners because of their lightweight feel.
[0005] There is therefore a need for a leave-in product that can deliver good revitalizing effects, shine and a feeling of lightness to the hair.
[0006] It is also desired that the product be stable. Summary of the invention
[0007] An object of the present invention is therefore to develop a leave-in product to revitalize hair, which is stable and can provide hair with good revitalizing effects, shine and a feeling of lightness.
[0008] Another object of the present invention is to propose a hair revitalization process.
[0009] Thus, according to a first aspect, the present invention proposes a composition in the form of a hair revitalizing emulsion comprising: a. at least one compound selected from water-soluble silicones and their derivatives; b. at least one non-carboxylic anionic thickener; and c. at least 20% by weight of at least one oil, relative to the total weight of the composition.
[0010] The composition of the present invention is in the form of an oil-in-water emulsion. Thus, said composition comprises a continuous aqueous phase and a dispersed oily phase.
[0011] The inventors have now discovered that the composition of the present invention is stable and can provide hair with high revitalization, shine and a feeling of lightness.
[0012] According to a second aspect, the present invention proposes a hair revitalization process comprising the application of the composition as described above to the hair.
[0013] Other subjects and features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become even clearer upon reading the detailed description and examples that follow. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0020] According to the first aspect, the composition of the present invention is an oil-in-water emulsion and comprises:
[0021] a) at least one compound selected from water-soluble silicones and their derivatives;
[0022] b) at least one non-carboxylic anionic thickener; and
[0023] c) at least 20% by weight of at least one oil, relative to the total weight of the composition.
[0024] Compounds selected from water-soluble silicones and their derivatives
[0025] According to the first aspect, the composition of the present invention comprises at least one compound selected from water-soluble silicones and their derivatives.
[0026] In one embodiment, the (a) compound is selected from water-soluble silicones.
[0027] Water-soluble silicones have a solubility in water, measured at 25 °C, of at least 0.5% by weight. If the final appearance of the water in which a silicone in question is mixed to a certain concentration is transparent or clear, it is determined that the silicone has solubility at that concentration. Thus, water-soluble silicone as (a) compound can be solubilized in water such that the concentration of water-soluble silicone in the water is 0.5% by weight or more.
[0028] Silicone oils can be selected from polysiloxanes comprising at least one terminal or pendant monovalent polyoxyalkylene group, which can be classified as polyoxyalkylene-modified silicones or polyether-modified silicones. The polysiloxanes may be polydimethylsiloxane.
[0029] Polyoxyalkylene-modified silicones or polyether-modified silicones can be represented by formula (1):
[0030] R23SiO(R22SiO)p(R2PESiO)qSiR23 (1)
[0031] in which:
[0032] the R2 radicals, which are identical or different, designate a monovalent hydrocarbon radical chosen from among the alkyl, aryl and aralkyl radicals having at most 10 carbon atoms;
[0033] p varies from 0 to 150, preferably from 0 to 100 and more preferably from 0 to 30;

[0038] x varies from 1 to 8 and preferably varies from 2 to 4 and is more preferably equal to 3;
[0039] y is greater than 0;
[0040] z is greater than or equal to 0; the values of y and z being such that the molecular weight The total polyoxyalkylene portion of the PE polyether group varies from 200 to 10000 and more preferentially from 350 to 4000;
[0041] R3 designates hydrogen, a CrC8 alkyl group or a C2-C8 acyl group.
[0042] It should be noted that, when z is different from 0, the polyoxyethylene and polyoxypropylene motifs may be randomly distributed along the PE polyether chain or distributed in sequences or distributed both in sequences and randomly.
[0043] Preferably, the R2 radicals are chosen from C1-C4 alkyl groups and hexyl, phenyl, and benzyl groups. More particularly, the R2 radicals are chosen from alkyl groups, such as methyl, ethyl, or butyl groups. More specifically, they designate the methyl radical.
[0044] Preferably, the R3 radicals are chosen from among the Cr C4 alkyl groups and designate more particularly the methyl radical.
[0045] Water-soluble silicones of formula (1) can be obtained according to the process described in US patent document No. 4,847,398.

[0079] For the purposes of the present invention, the term "non-carboxylic agent" means an agent which does not include any carboxylic acid (-COOH) or car-boxylate (-COO) function.
[0080] For the purposes of the present invention, the term “thickener” means a compound which increases the viscosity of a composition into which it is introduced at a concentration of 0.05% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition, by at least 20 cps, preferably by at least 50 cps, at room temperature (25 °C), at atmospheric pressure and at a shear rate of 1 s⁻¹ (the viscosity can be measured using a cone / plate viscometer, a Haake R600 rheometer or similar).
[0081] Preferably, the non-carboxylic anionic thickener(s) are chosen from non-carboxylic anionic polymers, more preferably from anionic polymers bearing one or more sulfonic groups.
[0082] For the purposes of the invention, the term "anionic polymer" means a polymer comprising one or more anionic or anionizable groups, and not comprising any cationic or cationizable group.
[0083] Advantageously, the non-carboxylic anionic thickener(s) are chosen from anionic polymers including at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer bearing a sulfonic group, in free form or in partially or totally neutralized form.
[0084] These polymers can be crosslinked or non-crosslinked. They are preferentially crosslinked.
[0085] These polymers may be associative or non-associative, preferably non-associative.
[0086] It is recalled that "associative polymers" are polymers capable, in aqueous media, of reversibly associating with each other or with other molecules.
[0087] Their chemical structure includes more particularly at least one hydrophilic zone and at least one hydrophobic zone.

[0148] Preparation procedure:
[0149] Each composition was prepared as follows, taking as an example that of inventive example 1: • Dissolving PEG-11 Methyl Ethyl Methicone in water to obtain a mixture; and • dispersion of the HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE / SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER in the mixture with stirring to obtain an aqueous phase; • a mixture of dimethicone, dimethiconol, isododecane and caprylyl methicone to obtain an oily phase; and • Slow introduction of the oil phase into the aqueous phase with agitation for 10 minutes to obtain the composition. Assessment
[0150] The compositions prepared above were evaluated in terms of stability, revitalizing effect, shine and feeling of lightness as follows. Stability
[0151] The stability of each composition of the inventive examples (El.) 1-2 and the comparative examples (EC.) 1-5 was evaluated by leaving the composition at 45°C for 2 months and then observing the appearance.
[0152] If the aqueous phase and the oily phase are separated after storage at 45°C for 2 months, the composition is not stable and the stability is evaluated as "FAILURE".
[0153] If the aqueous phase and the oily phase are not separated after storage at 45°C for 2 months, then the composition is stable and the stability is evaluated as "SUCCESS".
[0154] The stability results of each composition of the inventive examples (El.) 1-2 and the comparative examples (EC.) 1-5 are summarized in Table 3.
