Description

Title of the invention: Assembly of trim elements comprising a supporting member and a second snap-fit component, and associated assembly methods

[0001] The present invention relates to an assembly of cladding elements comprising a carrier member and a second member member, and associated assembly methods.

[0002] The present invention is particularly applicable for providing umbrella storage within the trim assembly of a vehicle.

[0003] Document KR20130115682 A describes an umbrella storage compartment for a vehicle located below a door opening. The umbrella storage compartment has a storage space and a cover designed to cover the storage space, with a fastening portion to hold an umbrella in the space.

[0004] However, the umbrella storage area requires the lid to be opened every time someone wants to access the space.

[0005] The umbrella storage part does not provide a solid assembly, so the dressing element may be quite fragile.

[0006] Furthermore, the cover does not visually integrate into the vehicle.

[0007] An objective of the invention is therefore to offer an assembly of trim elements comprising a carrier element and a second element of the element, which are fixed to each other, the assembly of trim elements being solid and aesthetic.

[0008] To this end, the invention relates to an assembly of trim elements comprising a carrier member and a second member, the second member being designed to be snapped onto the carrier member, the carrier member comprising a first surface, the first surface delimiting an opening and being provided with a first protrusion, the first protrusion comprising at least one hook portion at one end of the first protrusion, the second member comprising a main portion and a second protrusion, the second protrusion comprising at least one first branch, at least one second branch and at least one bottom, the at least one first branch, the at least one bottom and the at least one second branch together forming a U shape, the first protrusion cooperating with the second protrusion when the second member and the carrier member are snapped together, such that the first protuberance extends between at least one first branch and at least one second branch along a longitudinal direction, at least one bottom extends opposite the first protuberance along a transverse direction, limiting the movement of the , second organ in the transverse direction, and the hook portion is arranged with respect to the second organ element in the transverse direction in the opposite direction, limiting the movement of the second organ in this opposite transverse direction.

[0009] The cooperation of the first and second protrusions allows the second organ element to be held in place opposite the supporting organ along at least two directions, in a robust manner. Furthermore, the snap-fit mechanism provides an aesthetically pleasing finish.

[0010] According to specific embodiments of the invention, the process also has one or more of the following characteristics, considered alone or in any technically possible combinations:

[0011] - the first protrusion is deformable, such that the hook portion is designed to move in the longitudinal direction;

[0012] - the longitudinal direction corresponds to a through direction of the opening when the second organ element and the supporting organ are clicked together;

[0013] - the first protuberance extends from a wall of the supporting organ into a first direction away from the opening, the first direction being substantially the transverse direction when the second organ element and the supporting organ are clicked together;

[0014] - the supporting organ comprises a second surface, the second surface forming a angle between 70° and 110° with the first surface, the second surface being provided with at least one retaining protrusion, the at least one retaining protrusion being arranged on an opposite side of the opening relative to the first protrusion along the transverse direction, the second organ element comprising a retaining surface designed to bear against the retaining protrusion when the second organ element and the supporting organ are snapped together;

[0015] - the assembly of trim elements is a door panel, the load-bearing component being a support panel;

[0016] - the second organ element is a cover, the cover being designed to close the opening when the second organ element and the supporting organ are clicked together;

[0017] - the second organ element delimits a cavity with the supporting organ when the The second organ element and the supporting organ are snapped together, the cavity being accessible through the opening and designed to receive an umbrella.

[0018] The invention further relates to a method for assembling an assembly of trim elements as described above,

[0019] the process comprising the following steps:

[0020] - the supply of the supporting organ and the second organ element, and

[0021] - the displacement of the second organ element in the direction of the supporting element, of in such a way as to introduce the first protuberance between at least one first branch and at least one second branch and in such a way that at least one bottom extends opposite the first protuberance, the first protuberance deforming during the movement in such a way that the hook portion is arranged opposite the second organ element in the transverse direction in the opposite direction.

[0022] The invention further relates to the aforementioned method for assembling an assembly of trim elements as described above, in which the displacement of the second component in the direction of the carrier element is such that it deposits the retaining surface between the retaining protrusion and a wall delimiting an edge of the opening along the longitudinal direction.

[0023] Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description, provided solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

[0028] [Fig. 5] [Fig. 5] is a three-dimensional representation, with a section along the plan AA of [Fig.1], of the cooperation of the first protuberance and the second protuberance in the assembly of the cladding elements of [Fig.1], and

[0029] [Fig.6] [Fig.6] is a three-dimensional representation of another second element of organ in an assembly of dressing elements of the invention.

[0030] A first example of an assembly of trim elements 10, here intended for a vehicle, according to an embodiment of the invention is shown in figures 1 to 5.

[0031] The assembly of trim elements is here a door panel.

[0032] The assembly of cladding elements comprises a load-bearing member 12 and a second organ element 14.

[0033] Each of a longitudinal direction X and a transverse direction Y is defined for each of the supporting organ 12 and the second organ element 14, and the respective longitudinal directions X and transverse directions Y are respectively aligned when the supporting organ 12 and the second organ element 14 are attached.

[0034] The second organ element 14 is attached to the supporting organ 12.

[0035] The supporting element 12 is here a support panel for the door panel.

[0036] The supporting organ 12 comprises a first surface 16.

[0037] The supporting organ 12 further comprises a second surface 18.

[0038] The second surface 18 is here a surface designed to cover the door opening of the vehicle.

[0039] The first surface 16 is here a side of the supporting member 12, more particularly the side of the door opposite the attachment, here the hinge, between the door panel and the rest of the vehicle.

[0040] The first surface 16 extends from an edge of the second surface 18.

[0041] The second surface 18 forms an angle between 70° and 110° with the first surface 16.

[0042] The first surface 16 delimits an opening 20.

[0043] The opening 20 extends through the entire thickness of the first surface 16.

[0044] The opening 20 has a cross-section with dimensions such that they allow the passage of an umbrella through the opening, more particularly of an umbrella in translation through the opening along the direction of extension of the umbrella.

[0045] The opening 20 defines a through direction.

[0046] The traversing direction corresponds to a longitudinal direction, as defined later.

[0047] The first surface 16 has an internal face 22 and an external face 24.

[0048] The second organ element 14 is designed to cooperate with the inner face 22 of the first surface 16.

[0049] The inner face 22 is located opposite the second surface 18.

[0050] The inner face 22 is provided within the door when the door panel is fully assembled.

[0051] The outer face 24 corresponds to the distal edge of the door relative to the vehicle. The outer face 24 is visible to the user when the door panel is fully assembled.

[0052] The supporting organ 12 does not define any obstacle adjacent to the opening 20, on the internal side or on the external side.

[0053] The first surface 16 is provided with a first protuberance 26.

[0054] The first protrusion 26 protrudes from the inner face 22.

[0055] The first protuberance 26 protrudes from the edge of the opening 20.

[0056] The first protrusion 26 extends in a first direction away from the opening 20.

[0057] The first protuberance 26 extends along a second direction, perpendicular to the first direction.

[0058] Here, the first surface around the opening 20 is curved, so that the inner face 22 is concave.

[0059] The first protrusion 26 extends from said inner face 22 surrounding the opening 20.

[0060] The first protuberance 26 extends substantially parallel to the plane of extension of the aperture 20.

[0061] The first protuberance 26 comprises a main portion 28 and at least one hook portion 30.

[0062] The main portion 28 connects at least one hook portion 30 to the rest of the supporting organ 12.

[0063] The main portion 28 extends here from the inner face 22.

[0064] The main portion 28 extends from the inner face 22 to one end distal 32.

[0065] The main portion 28 is here a rib.

[0066] The main portion 28 is flat.

[0067] The main portion 28 extends substantially perpendicular to the traversing direction of the opening 20.

[0068] The first protuberance 26, more precisely the main portion 28, extends along, more precisely protrudes, by at least half of a distal edge of the opening 20. The distal edge of the opening 20 is the portion of the edge of the opening 20 furthest from the second surface 18.

[0069] Here, the main portion 28 extends along the entire distal edge of the opening 20.

[0070] The height of the main portion 28, measured from the inner face 22 to the distal end 32, is constant over the length of the first protrusion 26.

[0071] At least one hook portion 30 is arranged at one end of the first protrusion 26, here along the second direction.

[0072] More specifically, the first protrusion 26 here includes a hook portion 30 at each end of the first protrusion along the second direction.

[0073] The or each hook portion 30 extends from the main portion 28, here from the distal end 32 of the main portion 28.

[0074] The or each hook portion 30 comprises a slanted face 34.

[0075] The inclined face 34 extends from an internal edge of the distal end 32 at an acute angle with the main portion 28.

[0076] The angle is, for example, between 25° and 60°.

[0077] The first protrusion 26, more particularly the main portion 28, is deformable, such that the hook portion 30 can move in the longitudinal direction, here perpendicular to the main portion 28 at rest. In particular, when a force is applied to the inclined surface 34, the hook portion 30 moves closer to the inner face 22 of the first surface 16.

[0078] The second surface 18 is provided with at least one retaining protuberance 36.

[0079] At least one retaining protrusion 36 is arranged on an opposite side of the opening 20 in relation to the first protuberance 26, here opposite a proximal edge of the opening 20 in opposition to the previously mentioned distal edge.

[0080] The proximal edge of the opening is the portion of the edge of the opening closest to the second surface 18.

[0081] The proximal edge and the distal edge are opposite edges of the opening along a transverse direction Y.

[0082] The first direction is substantially parallel to the transverse direction.

[0083] The second surface 18 is here provided with a plurality of retaining protuberances 36.

[0084] The plurality of retaining protuberances are arranged here along a direction perpendicular to the through direction of the opening 20 and to the transverse direction.

[0085] The or each retaining protuberance forms a retaining face 38.

[0086] The retaining face 38 is substantially perpendicular to the through direction of the opening 20.

[0087] The retaining face 38 faces the proximal edge of the opening or a portion of the first surface located between the proximal edge and the second surface along the transverse direction, in the traversing direction of the opening.

[0088] The distance measured along the traversing direction between the retaining face 38 and the proximal edge of the opening or said portion is between 3 mm and 2 cm.

[0089] The or each retaining protuberance 36 protrudes from the second surface 18 in the transverse direction Y.

[0090] In the example shown, the second surface is further provided with at least one structure 40 delimiting a tapped hole 42.

[0091] The tapped hole 42 extends along the transverse direction.

[0092] The tapped hole 42 is a blind hole.

[0093] In a first embodiment, the second organ element 14 delimits with the carrier organ 12 a cavity 44 when the second organ element and the carrier organ are attached together, the cavity 44 being accessible through the opening 20 and being designed to receive an umbrella.

[0094] Thus, a user can store an umbrella in the cavity 44. When the vehicle is moving, the door is closed, so that the opening 20 is inaccessible and is closed by the rest of the vehicle, and the umbrella is stored securely inside the cavity. When the door is opened (for example, when the user enters the vehicle or exit), opening 20, and thus cavity 44, are accessible, so that he can place or remove an umbrella from cavity 44 as needed.

[0095] The cavity offers a practical and particularly attractive integrated solution for storing an umbrella.

[0096] More particularly, the second organ element 14 here comprises at least a lateral wall 46, 48 and an end wall 50 delimiting with the supporting organ 12 the cavity 44.

[0097] The second organ element 14 includes a front portion 52 designed to be secured to the supporting organ 12 around the opening 20.

[0098] The front portion 52 delimits a corresponding through opening 54, the corresponding through opening 54 extending in continuity with the opening 20.

[0099] The corresponding through opening 54 has dimensions corresponding to the dimension of the opening 20.

[0100] The front portion 52 surrounds the corresponding through opening 54.

[0101] More particularly, the front portion 52 includes a peripheral wall 56 surrounding the corresponding through opening 54.

[0102] The peripheral wall 56 has an end section 55, the end section 55 being an end of the second organ element 14 along the longitudinal direction X.

[0103] The peripheral wall 56, more particularly the end section 55, is in continuity with the edge of the opening 20.

[0104] The transition between the opening 20 and the corresponding through opening 54 allows for a satisfactory aesthetic.

[0105] The peripheral wall 56 has an inner face 57 surrounding the corresponding through opening 54 and an outer face 58.

[0106] The side wall(s) 46, 48 extend from the peripheral wall 56 away from the corresponding through opening 54.

[0107] The end wall 50 extends from one end of the side wall(s) 46, 48 opposite the peripheral wall 56.

[0108] In the invention, the second organ element 14 comprises a main portion 60 and a second protuberance 62.

[0109] In the first embodiment, the main portion 60 includes the peripheral wall 56, and here the side wall(s) 46, 48 and the end wall 50.

[0110] The second protuberance 62 comprises at least a first branch 64, at least a second branch 66 and at least a base 68.

[0111] At least one first branch 64, at least one bottom 68 and at least one second branch 66 together create a U shape.

[0112] The joining of the sections of the second protuberance 62 in the X,Y planes creates the U shape.

[0113] At least one first branch 64 protrudes from the main portion 60, more particularly from the peripheral wall 56, more particularly from the external face 58 of the peripheral wall 56.

[0114] At least one first branch 64 protrudes here from the external face 58 of the end section 55 of the peripheral wall 56.

[0115] At least one first branch 64 protrudes from the main portion 60 in a first branch direction.

[0116] The direction of the first branch corresponds to the transverse direction.

[0117] Here, the second protuberance 62 comprises a plurality of, here three, first branches 64.

[0118] The first branches 64 are here aligned in a direction perpendicular to the transverse direction and the traversing direction of the corresponding traversing opening 54.

[0119] The first branches 64 protrude on the same side of the peripheral wall, opposite the corresponding through opening 54.

[0120] At least one bottom 68 extends from a distal end of at least one first branch 64, in a longitudinal direction X.

[0121] The or each bottom 68 extends from the at least one first branch in the direction going from the corresponding through opening 54 to the opening 20.

[0122] Here, the or each bottom 68 extends away from the second organ element 14 along the longitudinal direction X.

[0123] The longitudinal direction X corresponds to the through direction of the opening 20, and here of the corresponding through opening 54.

[0124] More specifically, a base 68 extends from the distal end of each first branch 64.

[0125] The at least one second branch 66 extends from the at least one bottom 68, more particularly from an end of the bottom opposite the at least one first branch.

[0126] At least one second branch 66 extends parallel to the direction of the first branch.

[0127] Here, the second branch or each second branch 66 connects two adjacent funds 68 along the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction X and to the transverse direction Y.

[0128] The or each second branch 66 has a face perpendicular to the traversing direction of the corresponding traversing opening 54.

[0129] The second organ element 14 further comprises at least one retaining surface 70.

[0130] At least one retaining surface 70 protrudes from the outer face 58 of the peripheral wall 56, more particularly along the transverse direction Y.

[0131] At least one retaining surface 70 protrudes from the peripheral wall 56 opposite the second protrusion 62 in relation to the corresponding through opening 54, in particular opposite in the transverse direction Y.

[0132] The second organ element 14 further includes a tab 72 delimiting a hole 74.

[0133] Hole 74 is, for example, tapped.

[0134] Alternatively, hole 74 is not tapped.

[0135] Hole 74 extends along the transverse direction.

[0136] Hole 74 is a through hole.

[0137] The hole 74 and the tapped hole 42 are aligned, so that a screw can be screwed through either of the tapped holes to fix the carrier member 12 and the second member element 14 together.

[0138] The second organ element 14 is here snapped into the supporting organ 12.

[0139] More specifically, the first protrusion 26 cooperates with the second protrusion 62 when the second organ element 14 and the supporting organ 12 are clicked together.

[0140] The first protuberance 26 extends between at least one first branch 64 and at least one second branch 66 along the longitudinal direction X.

[0141] The at least one bottom 68 extends opposite the first protrusion 26 along the transverse direction Y. The hook portion 30 is arranged opposite the second component 14, more specifically the main body, in the transverse direction Y in the opposite direction. Thus, the hook portion 30 acts as a stop in the transverse direction Y, opposite to the at least one bottom 68.

[0142] Thus, the cooperation of the first protuberance 26 and the second protuberance 62 maintains together the second organ element 14 and the supporting organ 12 in the longitudinal direction X and the transverse direction Y in both directions.

[0143] In addition, here the retaining surface 70 is designed to bear against the retaining protuberance 36 when the second organ element 14 and the supporting organ 12 are snapped together.

[0144] More particularly, the retaining surface 70 is arranged, along the longitudinal direction X, between the retaining face 38 and the proximal edge of the opening 20 or a part of the first surface located between the proximal edge and the second surface along the transverse direction.

[0145] This allows an additional blocking of the second organ element 14 and the supporting organ 12 together in the longitudinal direction, opposed to the cooperation of the protuberances 26, 62.

[0146] The second organ element 14 and the supporting organ 12 are, for example, also screwed together, more particularly by means of a screw screwed through one and the other of the holes 42, 74.

[0147] The assembly of the second organ element 14 and the supporting organ 12 is particularly strong.

[0148] The door panel, for example, further comprises a cover panel (not shown) assembled onto the support member 12 after the assembly of the second component 14 and the support member 12, so as to close the door panel. The cover panel and the support member together form the exterior of the vehicle door. The inner face of the support member 12 and the outer face of the second component 14 are no longer accessible.

[0149] Figure 6 shows an example of another second organ element 114.

[0150] In said embodiment, the second component 114 is a cover, the cover being designed to close the opening 20 when the second organ element 114 and the carrier organ 12 are snapped together.

[0151] The second organ element 114 comprises a main portion 160 and a second protuberance 162.

[0152] The main portion 160 includes a lid wall 154 designed to close the opening 20 when the second organ element 114 and the carrier organ 12 are snapped together.

[0153] Thus, when no umbrella storage is desired, said second component 114 is snapped to the carrier component 12, instead of the first embodiment of the second component 14. The second component 114 closes the opening 20 to prevent access to the inside of the door panel and to finish the door.

[0154] It is thus possible to provide umbrella storage or no umbrella storage easily, using the same carrier member 12, by simply switching the second member element so that it is attached to the carrier member, in particular on the vehicle assembly line.

[0155] The lid wall 154 includes a border 156.

[0156] The second protrusion 162 is similar to the second protrusion 62 described previously.

[0157] Only the aspects from which they differ will now be described.

[0158] Similarly, at least one first branch 164 protrudes from the main portion 160, here from the border 156.

[0159] The bottom or each bottom 168 extends from at least one first branch in the direction from the lid wall 154 to the opening 20.

[0160] The second organ element 114 further comprises at least one retaining surface 170.

[0161] At least one retaining surface 170 extends beyond the edge 156, more particularly- linked along the transverse direction Y.

[0162] At least one retaining surface 170 protrudes from the edge 156 opposite the second protrusion 162 opposite the lid wall 154.

[0163] The second organ element 114 further comprises a tongue 172, similar to the tongue 72 described previously.

[0164] The second organ element 114 is attached to the supporting organ 12, in a similar manner to the second organ element 14 according to the first embodiment.

[0165] A method for assembling an assembly of cladding elements as described above will now be described.

[0166] A supporting organ 12 and a second organ element 14, 114, according to any one of the embodiments, are provided.

[0167] The second organ element 14; 114 is moved towards the supporting organ 12.

[0168] In the embodiment shown, the second organ element 14; 114 is moved so as to place the retaining surface 70; 170 between the retaining protuberance 36 and a wall delimiting an edge of the opening 20, along the longitudinal direction X, more particularly, between the retaining face 38 and the proximal edge of the opening 20 or the portion of the first surface located between the proximal edge and the second surface.

[0169] The introduction of the holding surface 70; 170 is here carried out before the cooperation of the first protuberance 26 and the second protuberance 62.

[0170] The second organ element 14; 114 is here displaced so as to introduce the first protuberance 26 between the at least one first branch 64 and the at least one second branch 66 and in such a way that the at least one bottom 68 extends opposite the first protuberance 26, the first protuberance deforming during the movement in such a way that the hook portion 30 is arranged opposite the second organ element 14; 114 in the transverse direction Y in the opposite direction.

[0171] The movement is, for example, a translation along the transverse direction Y, particularly with regard to Figures 1 to 3, or a rotation about the retaining surface 170, particularly with regard to [Fig. 6]. More specifically, during the movement, at the beginning of the cooperation between the first protrusion 26 and the second protrusion 62, the second organ element 14; 114 pushes on the inclined surface 34, such that the first protrusion 26 deforms. The hook portion 30 comes closer to the inner face 22 of the first surface 16, so as to allow the passage of the main portion of the second organ element 14; 114.

[0172] Thus, the first protuberance 26 is maintained between at least one first branch 64 and at least one second branch 66 along the longitudinal direction X and between at least one bottom 68 and the main portion of the second organ element 14; 114.

[0173] The supporting organ 12 and the second organ element 14; 114 are thus clicked together.

[0174] Lastly, the second organ element 14, 114 and the supporting organ 12 are, for example, also screwed together, more particularly by means of a screw screwed through one or the other of the holes 42, 74.

[0175] The assembly of the supporting member 12 and the second member element 14, 114 is thus particularly easy by snapping and optional additional screwing. In particular, there is no need to weld the parts together.

[0176] The resulting trim assembly, in particular the door panel, is solid and aesthetically pleasing, with a smooth finish.
