AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing couplers for connecting tools to work machine arms lack efficient automatic restraint mechanisms, leading to potential tool disconnection during operation, which compromises safety and efficiency.

Method used

A coupler with a restraint system that includes a mobile restraint organ, a lever, a recall mechanism, and an unlocking means, allowing for automatic restraint of the coupling organ during connection and controlled release during disconnection, independent of other locking systems.

Benefits of technology

The coupler ensures secure automatic restraint of the tool during connection, reducing the risk of tool disconnection and enhancing safety and efficiency by allowing early restraint and controlled disconnection.

Abstract

Coupler for connecting a tool to an arm of a construction machine. The coupler (5) includes a housing (21) for receiving a coupling member (11) formed on the tool (1). A retention system (40) for the coupling member in the housing comprises: - a retaining member (100) mounted on the body and movable by the coupling member between an extended position, to retain the coupling member, and a retracted position; - a lever (200) mounted on the retaining member, movable between a locking position preventing the retaining member from moving to its retracted position, and a release position; - a return means (250) that actuates the lever to its locking position; - an unlocking means (500) controllable by an operator between an inactive position and an active position where the unlocking means and the lever can interact.
