Description

Title of the invention: Packaging paper based on a component of brewer's spent grain or one of its constituents

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of papers. More specifically, the present invention relates to a paper, in particular a packaging paper, to a method for manufacturing said paper and to a packaging comprising said paper.

[0002] Nowadays, most packaging is made of paper and / or plastic. More and more commercial packaging, especially online (also called e-commerce), is made of paper in order to reduce the use of plastics. Paper packaging generally includes cellulose fibers from wood. During the manufacture of this packaging, the bark of the wood is removed and the debarked wood is processed during different stages to obtain a paper pulp. One of these stages is delignification, which dissolves the lignin present in the wood and thus obtains the cellulose fibers from the wood. Despite the efforts of manufacturers, this stage requires very complex mechanical and / or chemical treatment equipment (in particular the use of soda), which is expensive and often negatively impacts the carbon footprint of the finished products.

[0003] To reduce the environmental impact linked to this delignification step, it is well known to use recycled cellulosic fibers instead of wood fibers. These recycled fibers are resuspended, for example, by mixing used paper or cardboard with a large volume of hot water to extract the cellulosic fibers. To do this, bales of used paper are loaded into a pulper so as to separate the cellulosic fibers from other elements such as metals, papers, sludge, etc. Following this, a purification step is carried out to more selectively separate the constituents of the paper and keep only the cellulosic fibers. This makes it possible to obtain a paper pulp comprising recycled cellulosic fibers. A pressing and drying step then makes it possible to create a sheet of paper comprising recycled cellulosic fibers.

[0004] The use of recycled cellulosic fibers requires a step of deinking used paper or cardboard which, despite the efforts of industrialists in the paper sector, requires a chemical treatment to 1 / remove the hydrophobic ink from the cellulosic fibers during the disintegration of the recycled paper in the presence of water and soda, and 2 / remove the ink by flotation using soap. The water used for this deinking step must be reprocessed after this, which can lead to additional costs in the paper manufacturing process.

[0005] Thus, the use of only recycled cellulosic fibers for the production packaging is costly due to the need to set up collection and transport channels to used paper reprocessing plants and due to the stages of processing used paper.

[0006] It is also known to use plant fibers, in particular plant fibers extracted from biowaste from cocoa pods, to produce packaging materials. By using these plant fibers, it is difficult to obtain a packaging material with optimal aesthetic and mechanical properties combined with a low environmental impact. For example, plant fibers extracted from biowaste from cocoa pods make it possible to recover biowaste but require washing processes that consume a lot of water. The life cycle impact of such a product is therefore debatable.

[0007] The present invention aims in particular to propose a paper and a method for manufacturing a paper which is part of an eco-design approach, which corresponds to the analysis of the impact of the life cycle of the paper in its entirety on certain environmental indicators. Thus, an objective of the present invention is to propose a paper whose life cycle (from the choice of raw materials to its manufacturing process, then to its end of life) has a reduced impact on climate change, eutrophication of water, ecotoxicity, depletion of fossil resources, acidification and the formation of photochemical ozone. The present invention therefore aims in particular to provide a paper which can be obtained by a process using few chemical treatments, allowing the recovery of waste, and which is recyclable and compostable while having good aesthetic, mechanical and moisture resistance properties.

[0008] The invention thus relates to a fiber-based paper, in particular a packaging paper, comprising: - A content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains of at least 10%, by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper, and - A recycled cellulosic fiber content of at least 30% by weight relative to the total fiber content of the packaging paper.

[0009] Preferably, according to one aspect of the invention, the paper comprises: - A content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains of between 10% and 70% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the wrapping paper, preferably between 20% and 60% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the wrapping paper, preferably between 20% and 55% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the wrapping paper, and - A recycled cellulosic fiber content of between 30% and 90% in weight relative to the total amount of fibers in the wrapping paper, preferably between 40% and 80% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers in the wrapping paper, preferably between 45% and 80% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers in the wrapping paper.

[0010] The invention is thus part of an eco-design approach which is virtuous from both an environmental and economic point of view. Indeed, the integration of a component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains, which is a waste product from beer production, into a packaging paper makes it possible to promote a circular economy with local sourcing. In addition, this makes it possible to reduce the environmental impact (using the indicators described above) of the paper over its entire life cycle. Indeed, the manufacturing process for such paper does not require chemical pre-treatment to obtain the fibers.

[0011] In addition, the paper according to the invention has the advantage of being recyclable according to the ATICELCA standard and the French paper-cardboard standard NF13430, compostable according to the NF EN14046 standard and according to the NF EN 13432 standard and domestically compostable according to the OK compost home certification thanks to the component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains, while retaining good mechanical, aesthetic and moisture resistance properties thanks to the presence of recycled cellulosic fibers. Brewer's grains are a co-product from the production of beer during its brewing. In the present invention, the components based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains are chosen from brewer's grains, brewer's grains fibers, brewer's grains bran (co-product from the production of brewer's grains flour comprising part of the husk of the brewer's grains), or brewer's grains powder (brewer's grains processed by grinding).

[0012] According to one aspect of the invention, the paper comprises at least one fibrous layer, said fibrous layer comprising at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains and optionally recycled cellulosic fibers.

[0013] By fibrous layer is meant here a layer comprising fibers, here at least one component based on brewer's grain or a constituent of brewer's grain and optionally recycled cellulosic fibers, and which may further comprise at least one other component such as an additive.

[0014] According to one aspect of the invention, the paper comprises at least one additive such as a wet strength agent, and / or a dry strength agent, and / or a sizing agent.

[0015] According to one aspect of the invention, the fibrous layer and / or the additional fibrous layer comprises said at least one additive.

[0016] According to one aspect of the invention, the fibrous layer and at least one additional layer tional neighboring to the fibrous layer have a different additive content. This makes it possible in particular to optimize the mechanical properties of the additional fibrous layers which must be resistant and to reduce the quantity of additives in the fibrous layer placed between the additional layers which does not require improved mechanical resistance.

[0017] According to one aspect of the invention, the paper comprises a content of at least one chemical additive of between 1% and 20% by weight of wrapping paper, preferably between 1% and 15% by weight of wrapping paper.

[0018] According to one aspect of the invention, the fibrous layer comprises said at least one additive.

[0019] According to one aspect of the invention, the wet strength agent is chosen from polyamides, such as an epichlorohydrin resin, a polyamine-epichlorohydrin resin, a poly(aminoamide)-epichlorohydrin resin, a urea-formaldehyde resin, a melamine-formaldehyde resin, a polyvinylamine, an oxidized polysaccharide.

[0020] According to one aspect of the invention, the bonding agent is chosen from an alkyl-ketene dimer (AKD), alkyl-succinic anhydride or even rosin resin.

[0021] According to one aspect of the invention, the paper comprises a sizing agent content of between 1% and 20% by weight of wrapping paper, preferably between 1% and 15% by weight of wrapping paper, preferably between 1% and 10% by weight of wrapping paper.

[0022] According to one aspect of the invention, said dry-state strength agent for the paper is chosen from cellulose microfibrils, a cationic or functionalized starch, an oxidized or non-oxidized polysaccharide, proteins such as gelatins or casein.

[0023] Typically, the paper comprises a dry strength agent content of between 1% and 15% by weight of wrapping paper, preferably between 1% and 10% by weight of wrapping paper.

[0024] Alternatively, the paper may not include an additive, in particular an additive as described above.

[0025] According to one aspect of the invention, the paper comprises mineral fillers chosen in particular from calcium carbonate (precipitated or not), talc, titanium oxide or clays.

[0026] According to one aspect of the invention, the paper comprises less than 40% by weight of mineral filler wrapping paper, preferably less than 30% by weight of mineral filler wrapping paper. The mineral fillers may, for example, have the function of making the paper more opaque.

[0027] According to one aspect of the invention, the paper has a grammage of between 35 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 45 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 50 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 70 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 75 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 100 g / m2 and 350 g / m2.

[0028] According to a first embodiment, the paper comprises a single fibrous layer. It can then be referred to as “single-layer” paper. In this embodiment, the content of at least one component based on brewer's grain or a constituent of brewer's grain and recycled cellulosic fibers is the same as in the paper.

[0029] In this first embodiment, the paper preferably comprises: - a content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or one of its constituents of between 10% and 60% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the packaging paper, preferably between 20% and 50% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the packaging paper, and - a recycled cellulosic fiber content of between 40% and 90% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers in the packaging paper, preferably between 50% and 80% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers in the packaging paper.

[0030] In this embodiment, the fibrous layer preferably comprises: - a content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or one of its constituents of between 10% and 60% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the wrapping paper, preferably between 20% and 50% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the wrapping paper, and - a recycled cellulosic fiber content of between 40% and 90% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers in the packaging paper, preferably between 50% and 80% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers in the packaging paper.

[0031] In a second embodiment, the paper comprises at least one additional fibrous layer superimposed on the fibrous layer.

[0032] For example, the paper comprises a single additional fibrous layer superimposed on the fibrous layer. We can then speak of “two-layer” paper.

[0033] In one aspect according to the invention, the additional fibrous layer and the fibrous layer have the same composition. In other words, the additional fibrous layer and the fibrous layer have the same content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains, and the same content of recycled cellulosic fibers. This makes it possible to obtain a paper whose life cycle has a reduced impact on the environment. The paper is in particular compostable and recyclable according to the standards described above, while having good mechanical and aesthetic properties thanks to the composition of its layers.

[0034] Alternatively, the additional fibrous layer and the fibrous layer have a different composition. For example, the additional fibrous layer and the fibrous layer have a different content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains, and a different content of recycled cellulosic fibers. The fibrous layer and the additional fibrous layer may also have a different content of at least one additive. This makes it possible to obtain a paper whose life cycle impact on the environment according to at least one of the indicators defined above (eutrophication of water, ecotoxicity, climate change, etc.) is reduced. The paper is notably compostable and recyclable while having mechanical and aesthetic properties optimized according to the function of the paper layer. For example, where the fibrous layer is intended to come into contact with a product to be packaged and the additional fibrous layer is intended to come into contact with the external environment, it is possible to impart improved mechanical and moisture resistance properties to the additional fibrous layer by incorporating more recycled cellulosic fibers into it.

[0035] In one aspect of the invention, the paper comprises at least two additional fibrous layers superimposed with the fibrous layer, the additional fibrous layers being arranged on either side of the fibrous layer. In other words, the additional fibrous layers form external fibrous layers arranged on either side of the fibrous layer which forms an intermediate fibrous layer. In this case, the paper therefore comprises three layers, namely two additional fibrous layers on either side of a fibrous layer. We can then speak of a “three-layer” paper. One of the additional fibrous layers (called external) is intended to be in contact with the external environment, and the other additional fibrous layer is intended to be in contact with the product to be packaged in the packaging paper.

[0036] According to one aspect of the invention, the fibrous layer and the additional fibrous layers are stacked, the fibrous layer being disposed between the additional fibrous layers.

[0037] In a first variant, the fibrous layer and the additional fibrous layers have the same composition. In other words, the fibrous layer and the additional fibrous layers comprise in particular the same content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains and the same content of recycled cellulosic fibers. The fibrous layer and the intermediate fibrous layers may also comprise the same additive content. This makes it possible to obtain a paper whose life cycle impact on the environment according to the environmental indicators described above is reduced. The paper is in particular compostable and recyclable while having good mechanical and aesthetic properties.

[0038] In a second variant, at least two neighboring fibrous layers have different compositions. In other words, the fibrous layer and at least one additional fibrous layer have different compositions. In other words, the fibrous layer and one at least two additional fibrous layers comprise a different content of at least one brewer's grain-based component or a brewer's grain constituent, a different content of recycled cellulosic fibers and optionally a different content of at least one additive.

[0039] For example, the additional fibrous layers have the same composition, and the fibrous layer has a different composition from the additional fibrous layers. In other words, the additional fibrous layers have the same content of recycled cellulosic fibers, of a component based on brewer's grains or of a constituent of brewer's grains and possibly a different content of at least one additive. This makes it possible to obtain a paper whose life cycle impact on the environment is reduced. The paper is in particular compostable and recyclable while having mechanical and aesthetic properties optimized according to the function of the layer of the paper. For example, the fibrous layer, called intermediate, may comprise a content of a component based on brewer's grains or of a constituent of brewer's grains higher than the additional fibrous layers called external. The beer draff is then sequestered in the fibrous layer, between the two additional fibrous layers and said additional fibrous layers can include more recycled cellulosic fibers giving them optimized mechanical properties.

[0040] In another example, all the fibrous layers have a different composition. In other words, the fibrous layer has a different composition from the additional fibrous layers and the additional fibrous layers have different compositions from each other. In other words, each of the layers comprises a different content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains, a different content of recycled cellulosic fibers, and possibly a different content of at least one additive. This makes it possible to obtain a paper whose life cycle impact on the environment is reduced. The paper is in particular compostable and recyclable while having mechanical and aesthetic properties optimized according to the function of the layer of the paper. For example, the fibrous layer, called intermediate, may comprise a content of a component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains higher than the additional fibrous layers called external. The brewer's grains is then sequestered in the fibrous layer, between the two additional fibrous layers and said additional fibrous layers may comprise more recycled cellulosic fibers giving them optimized mechanical properties. Furthermore, the additional fibrous layer intended to be in contact with the external environment, and which is visible from the outside when a product is packaged in the paper, may have a natural appearance when it comprises a component based on brewer's grains or one of its constituents, which is not necessarily necessary for the additional fibrous layer intended to be in . contact with the product to be packaged.

[0041] These variants make it possible to obtain papers whose life cycle has a reduced impact on the environment, which have good recyclability and compostability properties as defined above as well as good aesthetic, mechanical and humidity resistance properties depending on the needs and use of the paper.

[0042] According to one aspect of the invention, the fibrous layer comprises a content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains greater than the content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains of the at least one additional fibrous layer, preferably of the two additional fibrous layers arranged on either side of the fibrous layer.

[0043] According to one aspect of the invention, when the paper comprises at least two additional fibrous layers superimposed with the fibrous layer, the additional fibrous layers being arranged on either side of the fibrous layer, said paper comprises: - a content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains of between 20% and 70% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres of the wrapping paper, preferably between 30% and 60% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres of the wrapping paper and - a recycled cellulosic fibre content of between 30% and 80% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper, preferably between 40% and 70% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper.

[0044] According to one aspect of the invention, the fibrous layer has a grammage different from at least one of the additional fibrous layers, in particular different from the two additional fibrous layers.

[0045] According to one aspect of the invention, the fibrous layer, also called intermediate fibrous layer, comprises a content of a brewer's grain-based component or a brewer's grain constituent of at least 50% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at least 60% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at least 70% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at least 80% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at least 90% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, and a content of recycled cellulosic fibers of at most 50% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at most 40% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular of at most 30% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers in the wrapping paper, in particular of at most 20% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers in the wrapping paper, in particular of at most 10% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers in the wrapping paper.

[0046] According to one aspect of the invention, the fibrous layer, also called an intermediate fibrous layer, comprises a content of a brewer's grain-based component or a brewer's grain constituent of 100% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers in the packaging paper. In other words, the fibrous layer does not comprise recycled cellulosic fibers.

[0047] According to one aspect of the invention, at least one of the additional fibrous layers, also called outer fibrous layers, preferably both additional fibrous layers, comprise a content of a brewer's grain-based component or a brewer's grain constituent of at most 50% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at most 40% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at most 30% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at most 20% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at most 10% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper, and a content of recycled cellulosic fibers of at least 50% by weight relative to the total amount of fibers of the wrapping paper,in particular at least 60% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at least 70% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at least 80% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular at least 90% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the wrapping paper.

[0048] According to one aspect of the invention, at least one additional fibrous layer, also called an outer fibrous layer, comprises a recycled cellulosic fiber content of 100% by weight relative to the total fiber quantity of the packaging paper. In other words, the additional fibrous layer does not comprise a brewer's grain-based component or a brewer's grain constituent.

[0055] According to one aspect of the invention, the paper comprises: - a fibrous layer comprising: a content of a component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grain of between 90% and 100% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the wrapping paper, in particular a content of 100% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the wrapping paper, • Optionally, a recycled cellulosic fiber content of less than 10% by weight relative to the total amount of fiber in the packaging paper, and - two additional fibrous layers each comprising: • a content of a component based on recycled cellulose fibres of between 90% and 100% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper, in particular a content of 100% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper, • Optionally, a content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains of less than 10% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers in the packaging paper.

[0056] According to one aspect of the invention, the paper comprises: - a fibrous layer comprising: • a content of a component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains of between 90% and 100% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper, in particular a content of 100% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper, • Optionally, a recycled cellulosic fiber content of less than 10% by weight relative to the total amount of fiber in the packaging paper, and - an additional fibrous layer comprising: • a content of recycled cellulose fibres of between 70% and 95% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper, preferably between 80% and 95% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper, in particular a content of 90% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper, • a content of a component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains of between 5% and 30% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the wrapping paper, preferably between 5% and 20% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers of the wrapping paper, in particular a content of 10% in weight relative to the total amount of fiber in the wrapping paper. - Another additional fibrous layer comprising: • a recycled cellulosic fibre content of between 90% and 100% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper, in particular a content of 100% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibres in the packaging paper, • Optionally, a content of at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains of less than 10% by weight relative to the total quantity of fibers in the packaging paper.

[0057] According to one aspect of the invention, the fibrous layer has a grammage greater than the grammage of at least one of the additional fibrous layers, preferably greater than the grammage of two additional fibrous layers.

[0058] For example, the fibrous layer has a grammage of 150g / m2 and the additional fibrous layers have a grammage of 75g / m2, the paper thus comprising a grammage of 300g / m2.

[0059] According to one aspect of the invention, all the fibrous layers, in other words the fibrous layer and the additional fibrous layers, have a different grammage.

[0060] According to one aspect of the invention, the fibrous layer has a grammage of between 10 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 20 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 30 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 40 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 50 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 60 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 70 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 75 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 75 g / m2 and 300 g / m2, preferably between 75 g / m2 and 250 g / m2, preferably between 75 g / m2 and 200 g / m2, of preferably between 75 g / m2 and 150 g / m2.

[0061] According to one aspect of the invention, at least one additional fibrous layer has a weight of between 10 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 20 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 30 g / m2 and 350 g / m2, preferably between 40 g / m2 and 350g / m2, preferably between 50 g / m2 and 350g / m2, preferably between 60 g / m2 and 350g / m2, preferably between 70 g / m2 and 350g / m2, preferably between 75 g / m2 and 350g / m2, preferably between 75 g / m2 and 300g / m2, preferably between 75 g / m2 and 250 g / m2, preferably between 75g / m2 and 200g / m2, preferably between 75 g / m2 and 150 g / m2.

[0062] Alternatively, the fibrous layer and the additional fibrous layers all have the same grammage. For example, the fibrous layer and the additional fibrous layers each have a grammage of approximately 100g / m2, the paper thus having a grammage of 300g / m2.

[0063] The present invention also relates to a packaging comprising the paper described above, said packaging being intended to package a product to be packaged.

[0064] According to one aspect of the invention, the packaging comprises a decorative area deposited on the paper, the decorative area being able for example to be a logo printing area.

[0065] The present invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a paper comprising at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains as well as recycled cellulosic fibers, said method comprising at least: - a step of pre-treating the at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains to obtain a fibrous paste comprising said at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains, - a step of forming a fibrous layer during which said fibrous pulp is pressed and dried, and - a step of introducing recycled cellulosic fibers either in the form of an additional fibrous layer comprising recycled cellulosic fibers, or in the form of a paste comprising recycled cellulosic fibers mixed with the fibrous paste comprising said at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains.

[0066] According to one aspect of the invention, the step of pre-treating the component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains is a step of fibrillating said at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains by ultrafine mechanical grinding to obtain the fibrous paste.

[0067] According to one aspect of the invention, the step of pre-treating the brewer's grain-based component or a brewer's grain constituent is not a chemical pre-treatment. In other words, this pre-treatment is not carried out in the presence of a chemical product such as soda.

[0068] Such a process has the advantage of limiting the chemical pre-treatment steps since the brewer's grain is pre-treated only during its fibrillation by mechanical grinding, and not by the addition of chemical agents such as soda. In addition, by not using exclusively recycled cellulosic fibers, the de-inking steps necessary for the preparation of the aqueous suspension of recycled cellulosic fibers are reduced and therefore the quantity of chemical product required is reduced.

[0069] According to one aspect of the invention, the method comprises a step of pre-treating the recycled cellulosic fibers by pulping and refining so as to obtain the pulp of recycled cellulosic fibers.

[0070] According to one aspect of the invention, the method comprises a step of mixing the fibrous pulp and the recycled cellulosic fiber pulp upstream of the formation step. of the fibrous layer such that the fibrous layer is obtained by pressing and drying a fibrous pulp comprising fibrous pulp comprising recycled cellulosic fibers and fibrous pulp comprising at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains. The fibrous layer obtained thus comprises recycled cellulosic fibers and at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains.

[0071] According to one aspect of the invention, the method comprises a step of forming an additional fibrous layer comprising a pressing step and a step of drying a pulp of recycled cellulosic fibers or optionally a fibrous pulp obtained by mixing the fibrous pulp comprising the recycled cellulosic fibers and a fibrous pulp comprising at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent based on brewer's grains.

[0072] According to one aspect of the invention, the fibrous layer and the additional fibrous layer are produced simultaneously.

[0073] According to one aspect of the invention, the method makes it possible to obtain a wrapping paper as described above.

[0074] According to one aspect of the invention, the method comprises a step of assembling the fibrous layer and at least one, preferably at least two additional fibrous layers.

[0075] According to one aspect of the invention, the additional fibrous layers are arranged on either side of the fibrous layer.

[0076] According to one aspect of the invention, the additional fibrous layers and the fibrous layer are stacked on top of each other, the additional fibrous layers being assembled on either side of the fibrous layer. The additional fibrous layers are then considered as external layers and the fibrous layer as an intermediate layer arranged between the two additional fibrous layers.

[0077] According to one aspect of the invention, the additional fibrous layers and the fibrous layer are assembled by wet pressing.

[0078] According to one aspect of the invention, at least one additive is added to the fibrous pulp comprising recycled cellulosic fibers before being mixed with the fibrous pulp comprising at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains or before formation of the additional fibrous layer based on recycled cellulosic fibers.

[0079] Other characteristics, details and advantages of the invention will emerge more clearly on reading the description which follows on the one hand, and several exemplary embodiments given for informational and non-limiting purposes with reference to the appended schematic drawings on the other hand, in which:

[0080] [Fig.l] [Fig.l] is a sectional view of a so-called “single-layer” paper according to the invention;

[0081] [Fig.2] [Fig.2] is a sectional view of a so-called “three-layer” paper according to a first variant;

[0082] [Fig.3] [Fig.3] is a sectional view of a so-called “three-layer” paper according to a second variant;

[0083] [Fig.4] [Fig.4] is a schematic representation of the manufacturing process of the paper according to the invention according to a first embodiment;

[0084] [Fig.5] [Fig.5] is a schematic representation of the manufacturing process of the paper according to the invention according to a second embodiment;

[0085] The features, variants and the different embodiments of the invention may be combined with each other, in various combinations, provided that they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive. In particular, variants of the invention may be imagined comprising only a selection of features described below in isolation from the other features described, if this selection of features is sufficient to confer a technical advantage and / or to differentiate the invention from the prior art.

[0086] [Fig.l] shows a cross-sectional representation of a paper according to the invention. Paper 1 is here a “single-layer” type paper. In other words, paper 1 comprises a single fibrous layer comprising a mixture of recycled cellulose fibers and a component based on brewer’s grains or one of its constituents. Paper 1 may for example comprise the following composition: Recipe No. Recycled cellulosic fibers (% by weight of the total fiber content of the packaging paper) Brewer's spent grain (% by weight of the total fiber content of the packaging paper) AKD (% by weight of paper) MFC (% by weight of paper) Cationic starch (% by weight of paper) Weight g / m2 1 80 20 5 5 10 150

[0087] Such paper may also comprise mineral fillers.

[0088] The life cycle impact of packaging comprising such paper on the environment was measured and compared with the life cycle impact of kraft paper packaging using product life cycle modeling software. It It appears that recipe 1 paper has an impact on acidification, ozone formation, water eutrophication 20% lower than conventional kraft paper, and an impact on climate change (CO2 emissions) 10% lower than conventional kraft paper.

[0089] In addition, such paper is recyclable according to the ATICELCA standard and the French paper-cardboard standard NF13430, compostable according to the NF EN14046 standard and according to the NF EN 13432 standard and domestically compostable according to the OK compost home certification. The paper also has good mechanical and moisture resistance properties as well as improved aesthetic properties due to the natural appearance provided in particular by the components based on brewer's grains.

[0090] Figures 2 and 3 show “three-layer” type papers. In other words, in Figures 2 and 3 the paper has a stack of a fibrous layer and two additional fibrous layers superimposed on the fibrous layer, the additional fibrous layers being arranged on either side of the fibrous layer. In [Fig.2], the paper 10 comprises a fibrous layer 12 called the intermediate fibrous layer, and two additional fibrous layers 11 called the external fibrous layers. In this variant, the additional fibrous layers 11 have the same composition, which is different from that of the fibrous layer 12. The additional fibrous layers may have different functions. For example, one of the additional fibrous layers is intended to be in contact with a product to be packaged in the packaging product, and the other additional fibrous layer is intended to be in contact with the external environment when a product is packaged in the product. In other words, the additional fibrous layer in contact with the external air and the additional fibrous layer that will be in contact with the product to be packaged have the same composition.

[0091] The fibrous layer 12 has a content of a component based on brewer's grains or one of its constituents greater than the content of a component based on brewer's grains or one of its constituents of the additional fibrous layers 11.

[0092] For example, the paper shown in [Fig.2] has the following composition: Recipe No. Layer Recycled cellulose fibers (% by weight relative to the total fiber content of the wrapping paper) Brewer's spent grain (% by weight relative to the total fiber content of the wrapping paper) Weight (g / m2) 2 Additional fibrous layer 90 10 75 Fibrous layer 0 100 150 Additional fibrous layer 90 10 75 TOTAL 45 55 300

[0093] The life cycle of such paper has a reduced impact on the environment, particularly with regard to the environmental indicators described above. In addition, having more brewer's grain in the fibrous layer, known as the intermediate layer, makes it possible to sequester the brewer's grain in large quantities, which makes the paper more compostable and recyclable. The paper also has improved mechanical properties at the level of the additional fibrous layers (external).

[0094] Such paper may also comprise at least one dry strength additive, and / or a wet strength additive and / or a sizing additive.

[0095] Such paper may also comprise mineral fillers.

[0096] In [Fig. 3], the paper 20 comprises three fibrous layers. All the fibrous layers have different compositions. In other words, the additional fibrous layers 21a and 21b have different compositions, and the fibrous layer 22, called the intermediate layer, has a composition that is still different from the additional fibrous layers.

[0097] For example, the three-layer paper according to this variant may have the following composition: Recipe No. Layer Recycled cellulose fibers (% by weight compared to the total fiber content of the wrapping paper) Brewer's grain (% by weight compared to the total fiber content of the wrapping paper) Weight (g / m2) 3 Additional fiber layer 90 10 75 Fiber layer 0 100 150 Additional fiber layer 100 0 75 TOTAL 47.5 52.5 300

[0098] Such paper may also comprise at least one strength additive. dry, and / or a wet strength additive and / or a sizing additive.

[0099] Such paper may also include mineral fillers.

[0100] With such a composition, each of the layers has optimized properties according to its function. For example, the additional fibrous layer intended to be in contact with the external environment may have a composition giving it improved mechanical properties and a natural appearance, while the additional layer intended to be in contact with the product to be packaged has a composition giving it more mechanical resistance (for example by integrating more recycled cellulosic fibers in this layer), and the (intermediate) fibrous layer includes a significant content of brewer's grains.

[0101] [Fig.5] is a schematic representation of a method for manufacturing paper according to the invention. During this method, a component based on brewer's grains or a brewer's grains component 100 undergoes a pre-treatment step 200 consisting in particular of fibrillation by ultrafine grinding of the component based on brewer's grains or a brewer's grains constituent so as to obtain a fibrous pulp 101 comprising brewer's grains or one of these constituents. In parallel, recycled cellulosic fibers 106 undergo a pre-treatment step 203 comprising in particular a step of pulping and refining the recycled cellulosic fibers, so as to obtain a fibrous pulp 107 based on recycled cellulosic fibers. Additives selected from wet strength additives, dry strength additives or sizing additives can be added to the fibrous pulp made from recycled cellulosic fibers. The method then comprises a step of mixing the pulps 204 to obtain a fibrous pulp 102 comprising recycled cellulosic fibers and at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains. A step of forming a fibrous layer 202 is then carried out comprising the sub-steps 205 of pressing the fibrous pulp in presses and a step 206 of drying the pressed fibrous pulp 103 by passing it through heating cylinders. A fibrous layer 104 is then obtained and corresponds to the wrapping paper of the invention. The paper may optionally undergo a post-treatment step 207 to give it a desired appearance (e.g.: shiny, silky, etc.) and obtain a treated wrapping paper 105. The paper obtained comprises at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains as well as recycled cellulosic fibers.

[0102] [Fig.5] is a schematic representation of a process according to the invention in which the recycled cellulosic fibers are introduced not by mixing with the fibrous pulp comprising at least one component comprising brewer's grain or one of its constituents but by forming an additional fibrous layer which will be stacked on a fibrous layer comprising at least one component based on brewer's grain of beer or a constituent of beer draff.

[0103] During this method, a component based on brewer's grain or a brewer's grain component 100 undergoes a pre-treatment step 200 consisting in particular of fibrillation by ultrafine grinding of the component based on brewer's grain or a brewer's grain constituent so as to obtain a fibrous paste 101 comprising brewer's grain or one of these constituents. A step of forming a fibrous layer 202 is then carried out comprising the sub-steps 205 of pressing the fibrous paste in presses and a step 206 of drying the pressed fibrous paste 103 by passing it through heating cylinders. A fibrous layer 104 comprising at least one component based on brewer's grain or a brewer's grain constituent is then obtained. Recycled cellulosic fibers 106 can be pre-treated 203 to obtain a fibrous pulp 107.Additives selected from wet strength additives, dry strength additives or sizing additives may be added to the fibrous pulp based on recycled cellulosic fibers. The fibrous pulp 107 obtained from recycled cellulosic fibers may be mixed with the fibrous pulp 102 before the steps of obtaining the fibrous layer. This makes it possible to obtain a fibrous layer comprising recycled cellulosic fibers and at least one component based on brewer's grains or one of its constituents.

[0104] In parallel, recycled cellulosic fibers 306 undergo a pretreatment step 403 comprising in particular a step of pulping and refining the recycled cellulosic fibers, so as to obtain a fibrous pulp 307 based on recycled cellulosic fibers. Additives chosen according to wet strength additives, dry strength additives or sizing additives can be added to the fibrous pulp based on recycled cellulosic fibers. A step of forming an additional fibrous layer 402 is then carried out comprising the substeps of pressing 405 the fibrous pulp based on recycled cellulosic fibers in presses and a step of drying 406 the pressed fibrous pulp 303 by passing it through heating cylinders. An additional fibrous layer 304 comprising recycled cellulosic fibers is then obtained. These steps may be repeated to form several additional fibrous layers to be stacked on the previously obtained fibrous layer. At least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains 300 may be pretreated by ultrafine grinding to obtain a pulp 301 based on at least one component of brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains. This fibrous pulp 301 may be mixed 404 with the fibrous pulp based on recycled cellulosic fibers 307 before the additional fibrous layer formation step to obtain an additional fibrous layer comprising recycled cellulosic fibers and at least one component. of brewer's grains or one of its constituents.

[0105] The method then comprises a step 408 of assembling the fibrous layer 104 and at least one, preferably two additional fibrous layers 304 by pressing in a wet environment to obtain a paper 308 according to the invention which has for example a fibrous layer based on a component comprising brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains and additional fibrous layers based on recycled cellulosic fibers.

[0106] A post-processing step 407 may optionally be carried out to obtain a paper with a desired appearance.

[0107] In this figure, the dotted steps and products represent optional steps for obtaining layers comprising both recycled cellulosic fibers and at least one component based on brewer's grains or a constituent of brewer's grains.

[0108] The paper obtained may for example have the compositions described in figures 2 and 3.
