Description

Title of the invention: Door lining comprising a device limiting deformation in a side impact Technical field to which the invention relates

[0001] The present invention relates to automobile safety and more specifically to side impact protection systems at the level of the doors of motor vehicles. Technological background

[0002] The doors of a motor vehicle play a crucial role in protecting occupants in the event of a side collision, absorbing and dissipating impact energy while preserving the integrity of the passenger compartment. Over the years, various improvements have been made to the design and manufacture of doors, thus enhancing their mechanical strength. These improvements include the use of honeycomb structures, tube-shaped reinforcements and progressive deformation energy absorbers. These solutions are integrated into the internal structure of the door and work in synergy with other components, such as door panels and linings, to ensure optimal protection in the event of a side impact.

[0003] Door trims are essential elements of a motor vehicle's interior, providing both aesthetic function and comfort for the occupants. They are generally attached to the door lining using clips, Velcro or other fastening methods. However, during a side impact, the forces exerted on the door can cause its various elements, including the door lining, to deform. If this deformation is too great, it can cause the door trim to detach, which can then disassemble and move around in the vehicle's passenger compartment, thus becoming a potentially dangerous projectile for passengers.

[0004] The objective of the invention is to prevent this risk by providing a door lining that is less likely to deform when a door equipped with this lining undergoes an impact. Thus, the invention aims to improve the safety of vehicle occupants by reducing the risks of detachment and displacement of the door lining during a collision. Subject of the invention

[0005] For this purpose, the invention proposes a door lining for a motor vehicle, comprising at least one fixing point for a window regulator rail and at least one rib in order to increase the mechanical rigidity of the door lining.

[0006] By the term "rib" is meant here a localized deformation of the door lining so as to form a protrusion or a depression. This de Localized training helps increase the rigidity of the door lining at that location, acting as an additional reinforcement.

[0007] The invention is remarkable in that at least one first rib extends from the attachment point of a window regulator rail.

[0008] Thus, advantageously, the first rib(s) extending from the attachment point of a window regulator rail increase the mechanical rigidity of the door lining at this attachment point. As a result, in the event of an impact to a door fitted with a door lining according to the invention, the door lining will be less likely to deform at the attachment point of the window regulator rail. This occurs when the rail is subjected to physical stress caused by the door panel undergoing the impact. This improvement in rigidity reduces the risk of the door lining becoming detached and, consequently, reduces the risk of injury to the vehicle occupants.

[0009] According to another embodiment of the invention, at least one first rib extends between a proximal end and a distal end, and the proximal end of at least one first rib is less than 5 cm, preferably less than 2 cm from the attachment point.

[0010] According to another embodiment of the invention, at least one first rib extends radially from the attachment point.

[0011] According to another embodiment of the invention, between its proximal end and its distal end, at least one first rib has a length of between 5 cm and 30 cm, preferably between 10 cm and 20 cm.

[0012] According to another embodiment of the invention, between its proximal end and its distal end, at least one first rib is straight or substantially straight.

[0013] According to another embodiment of the invention, several first ribs extend from the attachment point.

[0014] According to another embodiment of the invention, the attachment point is a passage provided through the door lining.

[0015] According to another embodiment of the invention, the fixing point is present in a lower part of the door lining. By "lower part" is meant here the part of the door lining closest to the roadway, when said lining is present in a door of a motor vehicle.

[0016] The invention also relates to a door for a motor vehicle comprising a door lining as described above.

[0017] Of course, the various features, variants and embodiments mentioned above can be combined with each other in various combinations, provided that they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive.

[0018] The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising a door mentioned above. Description of figures

[0019] The invention will be better understood, thanks to the description below, which relates to preferred embodiments, given as non-limiting examples, and explained with reference to the following figures:

[0020] [Fig-1] illustrates a schematic representation of a front view of a lining of door according to the invention;

[0021] [Fig.2] illustrates a schematic representation of a portion of the door lining shown in [Fig.l], comprising a plurality of first ribs according to the invention, extending from a point of attachment of a window lip rail. Detailed description of the invention

[0022] As a reminder, the invention provides a door lining less likely to deform when a door equipped with this lining undergoes an impact.

[0023] Figures 1 and 2 illustrate a non-limiting embodiment of a door lining according to the invention. The door lining 2 comprises a fixing point 4 for a window regulator rail. According to the present example, the fixing point 4 is a passage provided through the door lining.

[0024] Preferably, the fixing point 4 is present in a lower part of the door lining 2. According to a preferred embodiment, the fixing point is located at a distance of less than 30 cm, preferably less than 20 cm from an edge 6 of the door lining, intended to be closest to the roadway, when the door lining is present in a door of a motor vehicle.

[0025] Remarkably, the door lining 2 comprises several first ribs 8 arranged around the fixing point 4.

[0026] According to the present example, the term "first rib" designates a local deformation of the door lining 2, so as to form a protrusion projecting from the surface of the door lining. The apex 10 of the first grooves is of a planar or substantially planar shape. The apex 10 of the first ribs can be positioned at a distance from the surface of the door lining 2 which is between 1 cm and 5 cm, preferably between 2 cm and 3 cm. The width of the first ribs 8, measured at their apex 10 in a direction normal or substantially normal to their direction of elongation, is between 1 cm and 4 cm, preferably between 2 cm and 4 cm.

[0027] In order to more easily identify the first ribs 8, their apexes 10 are surrounded by a dotted line, designated by the reference in [Fig.2].

[0028] Each first rib 8 extends between a proximal end 12 and an end distal 14. The proximal ends 12 are located at a distance from the attachment point 4 which is less than 10 cm, or less than 5 cm, preferably less than 2 cm.

[0029] The length of a first rib 8, measured between its proximal end 12 and its distal end 14, is, according to the present example, between 5 cm and 30 cm, preferably between 10 cm and 20 cm.

[0030] The first ribs 8 may have a rectilinear or substantially rectilinear and / or curved or substantially curved shape.

[0031] Preferably, the first ribs 8 extend radially or substantially radially from the fixing point 4.

[0032] Thus, advantageously, the first ribs 8 which extend from the attachment point 4 make it possible to increase the mechanical rigidity of the door lining at this attachment point 4. Thanks to this, in the event of an impact suffered by a door equipped with a door lining according to the invention, the door lining will be less likely to deform at the attachment point of the window regulator rail. This occurs when the rail undergoes physical stress caused by the door panel which undergoes the impact. This improvement in rigidity reduces the risks of detachment of the door trim and, consequently, reduces the risks of injury to the occupants of the vehicle.
