Description

Title of the invention: Leveling pin for pouring a concrete slab

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of leveling devices used in the context of a concrete screed pouring operation on a support surface and more particularly to the field of leveling pins used in the context of such an operation.

[0002] When pouring a concrete slab onto a substrate, it is essential for those involved to ensure that the liquid, or otherwise viscous, concrete is uniformly distributed over the substrate so as to create a surface that is substantially horizontal across the entire poured area. Achieving this uniform distribution of concrete for the formation of such a horizontal surface requires, prior to pouring, the installation of several vertical markers on separate pins at various points on the substrate. The markers on each of these pins are thus positioned at the same level, in the same horizontal plane, to allow those involved to verify the flatness of the poured concrete surface. After pouring, these pins are removed and the concrete surface is smoothed before it hardens.

[0003] Traditionally, these leveling pins, used to check the flatness of poured concrete, are made in the form of a tripod structure. This structure features a height-adjustable vertical axis, the lower end of which supports a horizontal disc. This horizontal disc acts as a marker to identify, at the pin's location, the height of a horizontal plane, thus indicating the position of the concrete's upper surface during pouring. However, since checking the flatness of poured concrete requires the use of several leveling pins distributed across the entire support structure, tripod-shaped leveling pins have the disadvantage of being particularly bulky and therefore cumbersome. The sheer number of these pins required on a construction site further increases their bulk. Consequently, handling these pins becomes more complex for those involved.

[0004] To overcome this constraint, simplified straight gauges have been developed in the form of a vertically oriented axial rod that passes through the orifice of a washer. This washer, which acts as a level marker, has an orifice whose inner width is less than or equal to the corresponding portion of the axial rod. Thus, this washer is held in position at a predetermined level along the axial rod by the friction and pressure exerted by the inner edge of The orifice is against the surface of the axial rod. However, when using these vertical rods, unlike tripod rods, the axial vertical rod that carries the leveling washer is at least partially embedded in the pouring concrete. Thus, however simple in design, this type of vertical rod shows that after several uses, solidified concrete residue is likely to remain stuck to the rod, preventing or blocking the movement of the washer under friction and pressure along the rod's axis to adjust the leveling marker's position.

[0005] The present invention aims to overcome these drawbacks by proposing a simple design gauge in which the level marker is associated with a position adjustment mechanism configured to at least partially overcome any possible presence of solidified concrete residues on the gauge.

[0006] The invention thus relates to a leveling gauge for the operation of pouring a concrete screed onto a support surface, characterized in that this gauge comprises: - a first part which creates a substantially axial load-bearing structure comprising at least one cylindrical portion with a circular cross-section intended to be positioned along a substantially vertical axis, this load-bearing structure having a free upper end and a lower end comprising a base arranged to form a contact interface with the support surface, - a second part which creates a level marker comprising an axial and circular through-hole centered on an axis oriented according to the height of the level marker, this hole being arranged to be traversed by the cylindrical portion of the supporting structure and to interact with the cylindrical surface of this cylindrical portion, and in that, on the one hand, the cylindrical surface of the cylindrical portion of the supporting structure has a thread with a determined pitch and, on the other hand, the orifice of the level marker includes an inner surface which has a thread whose pitch is identical to that of the thread of the cylindrical surface of the supporting structure so that the interaction between the two parts by their respective threads gives mobility to the level marker along the axis of the supporting structure by pivoting the level marker around the axis of the cylindrical portion of the supporting structure.

[0007] The invention also relates to an assembly for producing a concrete slab comprising: - a support surface intended to receive a concrete screed, - at least one leveling pin according to the invention positioned by its base against a portion of the support surface, the level marker being placed at a height of the cylindrical portion of the supporting structure defining a plane of flushness of the upper surface of the concrete screed poured in an area surrounding the pin.

[0008] The invention will be better understood from the following description, which relates to preferred embodiments, given by way of non-limiting examples, and explained with reference to the accompanying schematic drawings, in which:

[0011] [Fig.3] is a schematic representation of an example of a level marker for a gauge according to the invention, illustrated, on the one hand, according to a view oriented along the pivot axis of the level marker and, on the other hand, according to a perspective view,

[0012] [Fig.4] is a schematic representation of an example of a load-bearing structure devoid of a collar for a gauge according to the invention, illustrated, on the one hand, according to a lateral view oriented along an axis perpendicular to the axis of the supporting structure and, on the other hand, according to a partially sectional view.

[0013] It should be noted that, in this document, the expression "solidified concrete residues" refers to concrete residues resulting from splashes or possible negligence in cleaning the measuring rod 1 of the invention after its use in a concrete pouring operation. Such residues do not refer to a substantially homogeneous layer of concrete that would have remained on the measuring rod 1 of the invention and solidified there due to a failure to clean said measuring rod 1 after its use.

[0014] The invention relates to a leveling pin 1 for the operation of pouring a concrete slab onto a support surface, characterized in that this pin 1 comprises: - a first part which forms a substantially axial load-bearing structure 2 comprising at least one cylindrical portion 21 of circular cross-section intended to be positioned along a substantially vertical axis, this load-bearing structure 2 having a free upper end 23 and a lower end comprising a base 22 arranged to form a contact interface with the support surface, - a second part which forms a level 3 marker comprising an axial and circular through hole 31 centered on an axis oriented along the height of the level 3 marker, this hole 31 being arranged to be traversed by the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2 and interacting with the cylindrical surface 211 of this cylindrical portion 21, and in that, on the one hand, the cylindrical surface 211 of the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2 has a thread 212 with a determined pitch and, on the other hand, the orifice 31 of the level marker 3 includes an inner surface 311 which has a thread 312 whose pitch is identical to that of the thread 212 of the cylindrical surface 211 of the supporting structure 2 so that the interaction between the two parts 2, 3 by their respective threads 212, 312 confers mobility to the level marker 3 along the axis of the supporting structure 2 by pivoting of the level marker 3 around the axis of the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2.

[0015] The gauge 1 according to the invention incorporates a mechanism for adjusting the position of the level marker 3 along the axis of the supporting structure 2 by means of the cooperation of the threads 212, 312 carried by the inner surface 311 of the orifice 31 and the cylindrical or peripheral surface 211 of the supporting structure 2. The supporting structure 2 has a base 22 at one end of its axis such that the base provides a contact interface with the support surface onto which the concrete is intended to be poured. Therefore, when using the gauge 1 of the invention, the supporting structure 2 is configured to be mounted in a vertical position by means of its base 22 on the support surface intended to receive the concrete. The position of the level marker 3 is then adjusted along the axis of the supporting structure 2 by axially pivoting the level marker 3 so that, through the cooperation of the threads 212, 312 of the level marker 3 and the supporting structure 2, the level marker 3 is translated on the supporting structure 2. In the vertical position of the axis of the supporting structure 2, the level marker 3 and the supporting structure 2 are in contact only by their respective overlapping threads 212, 312, so that the lower surface of the threads 312 of the level marker 3 rests by gravity on the upper surface of the threads 212 of the supporting structure 2. Preferably, in a plane in section perpendicular to the axis of the supporting structure 2, the width of the orifice 31 in a measuring direction is greater than the width of the corresponding part of the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2 in that same measuring direction.Similarly, preferably along an axis substantially parallel to the axis of the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2, the height of the threads of the threads 212, 312 carried by a first of the elements between the supporting structure 2 and the level marker 3, is less than the height of the groove formed by two consecutive threads of the threads 212, 312 carried by the second of the elements between the supporting structure 2 and the level marker 3, so that, along the axis of the supporting structure 2, a play is likely to exist between the supporting structure 2 and the level marker 3. In addition, within the framework of the gauge 1 according to the invention, the threads 212, 312. complementary to the supporting structure 2 and the level marker 3 are defined so as to have a thread pitch or slope low enough that, when the supporting structure 2 is positioned vertically, the sole friction force of the lower surface of the threads 312 of the level marker 3 against the upper surface of the threads 212 of the supporting structure 2 is sufficient to keep the level marker 3 in position relative to the supporting structure 2.

[0016] It should be noted that, within the framework of the mechanism for adjusting the position of the level marker 3 along the axis of the support structure 2 of the pin 1 of the invention, the interaction of the threads 212, 312 requires an axial pivoting of the level marker 3 so that it is moved along the axis of the support structure 2. Thus, when the support structure 2 is positioned vertically, the vertical translational force of the level marker 3 imposed by the force of gravity generates a rotational torque of the level marker 3, which is dampened by the pitch of the threads 212, 312. This rotational torque is then sufficiently dampened to be less than the frictional force between the surfaces of the threads 212, 312, so that the level marker 3 remains held in position on the support structure 2.Similarly, it should be noted that, thanks to the pitch of the threads 212, 312 carried by the two elements of the gauge 1, the torque of the level marker 3 produced by the rotation exerted by an operator generates an amplified translational force along the axis of the supporting structure 2. Also, in the event of the presence of solidified concrete residues on the gauge 1, in particular at the level of the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2, the pivoting of the level marker 3 by an operator is likely to be sufficient to generate a translational force of the level marker 3 on the supporting structure 2 which may degrade the solidified concrete residue and / or force the movement of the level marker 3 over the solidified concrete residue.Additionally, when the gauge 1 of the invention has play between the threads of the threads 212, 312 of the supporting structure 2 and the level marker 3, the space between the cooperating threads allows the presence of solidified concrete residue at this interface of interaction between the two elements of the gauge 1, such that the displacement of one thread 312 by the other 212 is not affected or only partially affected. Similarly, in addition, when the width of the orifice 31, and therefore the width of the orifice 31 at the thread of at least one of the threads 312, in a measurement direction, is greater than the width of the corresponding part of the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2 in that same measurement direction, a space exists between the inner surface 311 of the orifice 31 and the cylindrical or peripheral surface 211 of the supporting structure 2.Such a space thus allows for the presence of solidified concrete residue between the two elements of gauge 1 without. that the movement of the threads 212, 312 relative to each other is not significantly affected.

[0017] It should be noted that, within the framework of the adjustment mechanism for the pin 1 of the invention, the threads 212, 312 of each of the elements of the pin 1, namely the supporting structure 2 and the level marker 3, may comprise one or more threads. Preferably, the threads 212, 312 of each of the elements of the pin 1 comprise one to six threads. The production of threads 212, 312 comprising several threads makes it possible to multiply the friction surfaces and thus increase the friction force between the supporting structure 2 and the level marker 3 when the slope of the threads 212, 312 is too steep and is unable to sufficiently attenuate the vertical translational force imposed by gravity on the level marker 3.Also, despite a limited attenuation of the rotational torque of the level 3 marker, this torque is able to be less than the friction force between the surfaces of the threads 212, 312 so that the level 3 marker remains held in position on the supporting structure 2.

[0018] According to an example relating to a construction variant of the leveling pin 1 according to the invention, the level marker 3 has at least one portion with a substantially planar arrangement. This planarly arranged portion thus provides a reference plane at the level of the pin 1 for pouring concrete onto the support surface and adjusting the upper surface of the poured concrete to the required height. According to a specific example of this construction variant, the level marker 3 has an essentially planar arrangement. By way of example, the level marker 3 is arranged to have a disc-shaped configuration. However, at the orifice 31, at least one portion of the level marker 3 has a sleeve-like arrangement whose inner surface 311 has sufficient height to accommodate at least one thread 312.

[0019] According to another example relating to a variant construction of the leveling pin 1 according to the invention and capable of being combined with either of the variants detailed above, the level marker 3 has a substantially annular arrangement. The peripheral edge of the level marker 3 then has a substantially circular arrangement. The orifice 31 of the level marker 3 is then preferably positioned substantially centered on the level marker 3 so that the level marker 3 has a structure whose configuration can be likened to the shape of a washer.

[0020] According to another example relating to a variant construction of the leveling pin 1 according to the invention and capable of being combined with either of the variants detailed above, the level marker 3 comprises a slot 32 disposed between its peripheral surface 33 and the inner surface 311 of the orifice31 and arranged along the entire height of the level marker 3. Such a slot 32 thus connects the inner surface 311 of the orifice 31 with the periphery of the level marker 3, so that, in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the orifice 31, the level marker 3 is able to withstand forces likely to deform its structure while limiting its failure. Also, in the context of such deformation, the opposite edges or surfaces of the slot 32 that face each other in the thickness and height of the level marker 3 are likely to be moved apart and / or brought closer together. Thus, the level marker 3 is able to withstand a deformation widening the perimeter of its orifice 31 in the event of a localized excess thickness in a portion of the cylindrical or peripheral surface 211 of the supporting structure 2.The level 3 marker is then able to withstand any deformation of its structure to allow its movement over any solidified concrete residues present on the surface 211 of the supporting structure 2.

[0021] According to another example relating to a specific construction variant of the variant detailed above, the level 3 marker is made of a rigid material capable of withstanding deformation. As a construction example, the rigid material used for the level 3 marker and / or the entire gauge assembly 1 is a plastic. However, other alternative materials may be considered provided that these materials, on the one hand, have properties identical or similar to those required for the construction of a level 3 marker or a gauge element 1 and, on the other hand, are compatible with use in a concrete pouring operation on a support surface. These materials may also be resins, metals, or alloys such as aluminum-based or steel, possibly coated with aluminum, brass, or zinc, or a combination of several of the aforementioned materials. For example, the material(s) used to manufacture either element 2 or 3 of gauge 1 are selected to allow the production of at least one of these elements 2 or 3 through a molding and / or additive manufacturing process.

[0022] According to another example relating to a specific construction variant of the variant detailed above, along at least one axis perpendicular to the axis of the supporting structure 2, the diameter of the inner surface 311 of the orifice 31 of the released level marker 3 is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2, such that at least two opposing portions of the inner surface 311 arranged on either side of the axis of the orifice 31 are able to pinch the axial portion 21 of the supporting structure 2. According to this construction variant, the pinching of the supporting structure 2. A portion of the orifice 31 of the level marker 3 provides additional force to maintain the level marker 3 in a predetermined position along the axis of the supporting structure 2. Preferably, the diameter of the inner surface 311 of the orifice 31 of the released level marker 3 is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2 along a limited number of axes perpendicular to the axis of the supporting structure 2. Also, in this construction variant, ideally, the diameter of the inner surface 311 of the orifice 31 of the released level marker 3 is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2 along a single axis perpendicular to the axis of the supporting structure 2.This pinching of the supporting structure 2 by the level marker 3 along a single axis thus makes it possible to create additional friction between the two elements 2, 3 of the pin 1 for the holding of these two elements 2, 3 in position without this significantly affecting the operation of the adjustment mechanism of the pin 1 in the presence of solidified residues of concrete on the pin 1. .

[0023] According to another example relating to a variant construction of the leveling pin 1 according to the invention and capable of being combined with either of the variants detailed above, the thread pitch has a slope within a range of 15 millimeters to 50 millimeters per revolution, preferably within a range of 20 millimeters to 40 millimeters per revolution, ideally on the order of 30 millimeters per revolution. A slope within such a range allows for a thread pitch of the threads 212, 312 that is sufficient to ensure, firstly, that the level marker 3 is held in position and, secondly, that the positioning of the level marker 3 along the supporting structure 2 does not require an excessive number of rotations of the level marker 3.

[0024] According to another example relating to a construction variant of the leveling gauge 1 according to the invention and capable of being combined with either of the variants detailed above, the peripheral surface 33 of the level marker 3 includes a handling interface 331 for the level marker 3. By way of example, such a handling interface 331 is made in the form of at least one projection extending radially from the opening 31 of the level marker 3. This projection may take the form of a pin whose gripping by a user or operator is facilitated to allow the rotation of the level marker 3 around the axis of the supporting structure 2. According to another construction example, the handling interface 331 of the level marker 3 includes several projections distributed around the periphery of the level marker 3.Preferably, these protrusions are distributed in a substantially homogeneous manner around the periphery of the level 3 marker.

[0025] According to another example relating to a variant of the construction of the leveling pin 1 according to the invention and capable of being combined with either of the variants detailed above, the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2 has a tubular arrangement. This tubular construction makes it possible to limit the amount of material required to manufacture this structure 2, so that, on the one hand, the production cost of this element 2 of the pin 1 is reduced and, on the other hand, the weight of this supporting structure 2 is reduced, thus facilitating the handling and transport of a large number of pins 1 for a worker on a construction site. Preferably, this tubular arrangement is not limited to the cylindrical portion 21 alone but is implemented along the entire length of the supporting structure 2.According to a specific example of this construction variant, the tubular arrangement of the load-bearing structure 2 has an opening at each of its lower and upper ends 23. Therefore, during the pouring operation, the concrete can enter the lower part of the tubular section. The presence of an opening at the upper end 23 of the load-bearing structure 2 facilitates the flow of concrete when the gauge 1 is removed from the poured concrete slab before it has hardened. Furthermore, the presence of an opening at each end of the load-bearing structure 2 provides easy access for cleaning the internal volume of the tubular section of the load-bearing structure 2.

[0026] According to another example relating to a variant construction of the leveling pin 1 according to the invention and capable of being combined with either of the variants detailed above, the cylindrical surface 211 of the cylindrical portion 21 near the free upper end 23 of the supporting structure 2 is without a thread 212. Such an arrangement presents a height of the supporting structure 2 at which the supporting structure 2 can be inserted through the opening 31 of the level marker 3 without the operator needing to position it with respect to the respective threads 212, 312 of the two elements 2, 3 of the pin 1. Also, the association of the level marker 3 with the supporting structure 2 by an operator is facilitated by requiring only a simple alignment of the respective axes of the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2 and the opening 31. of the level 3 marker.Once the level marker 3 is fitted onto the support structure 2, cooperation between the respective threads 212, 312 of the two elements 2, 3 of the pin 1 is obtained by pivoting the level marker 3 until it is positioned opposite the threads of each of the threads 212, 312 of the elements 2, 3 of the pin 1. Thus, the operator is able to install the adjustment mechanism of the pin 1 without having to operate simultaneously, on the one hand, an alignment of the respective axes of the support structure. 2 and the orifice 31 of the level marker 3 and, on the other hand, a comparison of the threads 212, 312 of the two elements 2, 3 of the pin 1.

[0027] According to another example relating to a construction variant of the leveling pin 1 according to the invention and capable of being combined with either of the variants detailed above, at least a portion of the peripheral edge of the lower end of the supporting structure 2 has a collar that enlarges the surface of the base 22 relative to a section of the cylindrical portion 21 in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the supporting structure 2. This collar enlarges the surface of the lower end of the supporting structure 2, which forms the base 22, and thus optimizes the retention of the pin 1 in a vertical position on the support surface. Preferably, the collar has a bearing surface for the base 22 that extends radially relative to the rest of the supporting structure 2 in the form of a disc portion that surrounds the lower end of the supporting structure 2.According to one alternative construction, this collar takes the form of one or more tabs or lugs arranged radially in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the supporting structure 2 in different directions from the lower end of the supporting structure 2.

[0028] According to another example relating to a variant construction of the leveling pin 1 according to the invention and capable of being combined with either of the variants detailed above, at the base 22, the contact interface with the support surface carries at least one anchor point 223 arranged along an axis substantially parallel to the axis of the supporting structure 2. This at least one anchor point 223 is configured to allow its insertion into the support surface intended to support the pin 1 and to receive the concrete slab. This at least one anchor point 223 provides additional stability to ensure the vertical maintenance of the supporting structure 2 and to prevent it from falling during the pouring of the concrete onto the support surface. This at least one anchoring point 223 is likely to be positioned at the center of the base 22, that is, aligned with the axis of the supporting structure 2 or, alternatively, offset from this axis, particularly when the supporting structure 2 is tubular and has an opening at its lower end. When the base 22 includes several anchoring points 223, these are preferably distributed at different portions of the base 22, spaced apart from each other so as to optimize the anchoring of the supporting structure 2. It should be noted that the at least one anchoring point 223 has a tapered arrangement without a hook so as to allow a worker to remove the pin 1 from the support surface without encountering difficulty.

[0029] It should be noted that both the collar and at least one anchoring point 223 help to reinforce the stability of the vertically mounted supporting structure 2 on the support surface in particular with regard to efforts or forces exerted laterally against the surface of the gauge 1. Such efforts are likely to be exerted during the flow of concrete against the support surface intended to receive the screed, or even accidentally by a worker on the site.

[0030] The invention also relates to an assembly for the production of a concrete screed including: - a support surface intended to receive a concrete screed, - at least one leveling pin 1 according to the invention positioned by its base 22 against a portion of the support surface, the level marker 3 being placed at a height of the cylindrical portion 21 of the supporting structure 2 defining a plane of flushness of the upper surface of the concrete screed poured in an area surrounding the pin 1.

[0031] Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown in the accompanying drawings. Modifications remain possible, particularly with regard to the composition of the various elements or by substitution of technical equivalents, without departing from the scope of protection of the invention.
