Description

Title of the invention: Height-adjustable leg elevation pillow

[0001] SCOPE OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The object of the present invention, as indicated in its title, is a height-adjustable leg elevation pillow intended for use after surgery, injury or for rest, the pillows preferably being made of viscoelastic foam of the type used for sleep.

[0003] The present invention is characterized by the particular design, configuration and materials of each of the parts constituting the leg elevation pillow, which have the particularity of being height adjustable, which makes it possible to obtain an ideal instrument or means for placing the leg in an elevated position during rest, with the possibility of adjusting the desired height.

[0004] Therefore, the present invention falls within the field of means and accessories intended to raise the leg.

[0005] DESCRIPTION OF PRIOR ART

[0006] It is well known that it is necessary to keep a leg elevated, whether due to an injury, following surgery or simply in case of a feeling of heavy legs, the leg must remain above the level of the heart in order to promote venous return without particular difficulty.

[0007] To achieve this position, pillows or cushions are generally used which, although they often fulfill the objective of raising the leg, do not always allow sufficient height to be reached, or do not guarantee a comfortable leg position.

[0008] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0009] The object of the present invention is therefore to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art, by developing an ergonomic accessory specially designed to allow the leg to be positioned at a height in the most comfortable way possible, with an adjustable height, by developing the pillow which is the subject of the present invention, described below.

[0010] The present invention relates to a height-adjustable leg elevation pillow, characterized in that it comprises a support piece or base and a leg support piece, the two pieces being capable of being removably joined, the support piece or base having a first inclined surface on its front face, while the leg support piece has a second inclined surface on its front face, such that the first inclined surface is the continuation of the second inclined surface, and in that the upper face of the support piece for the leg has a longitudinal cavity intended to receive the leg and to prevent it from falling from the height at which it is positioned.

[0011] The leg support piece is positionable and removably fixed on the support piece or base, the two pieces having a prismatic shape, with an inclined front face such that the front faces of the two pieces are aligned in their inclined surface.

[0012] In addition, the aforementioned set of parts includes a multifunctional insertion element, the height regulation of the pillow being obtained by the use or not of the support piece or base, and by the use or not of the multifunctional insertion element, the latter being, as already mentioned, optional and complementary.

[0013] The support piece for the leg has the particularity of having, on its upper face, a longitudinal cavity, on which the leg rests.

[0014] In addition, two handles are defined on the second inclined surface of the front face of the support piece for the leg.

[0015] These two handles make it easier to position the assembly.

[0016] Also, in a complementary manner, the lateral faces of the leg support piece respectively include gripping handles allowing the lateral positioning of the pillow and the lifting of the assembly.

[0017] The union between the support piece or base and the support piece for the leg can be achieved by any known means, such as staples, or a fixing by bendable rods that can hook onto closed plastic loops arranged oppositely on the parts to be assembled.

[0018] In a complementary, but not limiting, embodiment, the upper part of the leg support piece is made of soft viscoelastic foam with gel particles, while the immediately lower part consists of a first zone of two-layer high-density foam.

[0019] The soft viscoelastic foam with gel particles guarantees shape memory under pressure.

[0020] Similarly, the support piece or base comprises a second two-layer high-density foam zone arranged opposite the first two-layer high-density foam zone.

[0021] This second zone is arranged in correspondence with the zone of the same material of the support piece for the leg.

[0022] The soft viscoelastic foam with gel particles ensures comfort and freshness, even during prolonged use. The lower layers of high-density foam provide sufficient support and do not deform over time.

[0023] Complementarily, the removable union means between the support piece or base and the support piece for the leg consist of deformable plastic rods in the shape of a hook that can be attached to closed plastic loops arranged on the opposite area.

[0024] In one possible embodiment, the number of removable union points is three on the lateral faces of the support or base and support pieces for the leg, and one on the rear faces of said pieces.

[0025] In one possible embodiment, the front faces of the support or base pieces and the bearing piece are designed with an inclination of 40°.

[0026] In addition, the pillow includes a multifunctional insertion element that can be placed on the longitudinal cavity, either transversely or longitudinally on said cavity.

[0027] The multifunctional insert element provides excellent leg stability, whether positioned transversely to the cavity or longitudinally. It can be placed under the entire leg to add 1.2 inches of height, or bent to add 2.4 inches of height, or placed on one side of the leg to make the groove narrower, suitable for slimmer legs.

[0028] The two handles at the front make it easier to position the pillow, whether with the left or right hand, and the side handle makes it easy to carry.

[0029] The underside of the cover of the support piece or base is designed with anti-slip silicone particles to prevent the pillow from slipping during use.

[0030] Unless otherwise indicated, all technical and scientific terms used in this description have the meanings usually attributed to them by an expert in the relevant field. Similar or equivalent processes and materials to those described may be used to implement the present invention.

[0031] In the description, the word "includes" and its variants are not intended to exclude other technical features, additives, components, or steps. For the expert in the field, other objects, advantages, and features of the invention will become apparent partly from the description and partly from its implementation. Brief description of the drawings

[0032] In order to supplement this description and to facilitate a better understanding of the features of the invention, in accordance with a preferred example of a practical embodiment thereof, a set of drawings is attached as an integral part of this description, in which, by way of illustration and not limitation, the following elements have been represented:

[0033] [Fig-1] is a representation of the pillow which is the subject of the invention.

[0034] [Fig.2] is a second representation showing a leg placed on the pillow that is the subject of the invention.

[0035] DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED MODE OF IMPLEMENTATION

[0036] In light of the figures, a preferred embodiment of the proposed invention is described below:

[0037] On [Fig. 1], it can be observed that the pillow of the invention comprises a support piece or base (1) and a support piece for the leg (2), the two pieces being capable of being assembled in a removable manner, the support piece or base (1) having on its front face a first inclined surface (4), while the support piece for the leg (2) has on its front face a second inclined surface (6), such that the first inclined surface (4) is the extension of the second inclined surface (6).

[0038] On the upper face of the support piece for the leg (2), a longitudinal cavity (5) is defined, intended to receive the leg and to prevent it from falling from the height at which it is positioned.

[0039] On the second inclined surface (6) of the front face of the leg support piece (2), two handles (10) are defined, allowing the assembly to be pulled simultaneously and the pillow to be positioned optimally.

[0040] Furthermore, on the lateral faces of the leg support piece (2), lateral handles (11) are defined, allowing the lateral positioning of the pillow.

[0041] The upper part of the leg support piece is made of soft viscoelastic foam with gel particles (7), which gives it increased coolness and shape memory in the face of deformation. The rest of the piece, immediately below, consists of a first zone of two-layer high-density foam (8).

[0042] The support piece or base (1) has a second two-layer high-density foam zone (9) arranged opposite the first zone (8).

[0043] The removable joining means between the support piece or base (1) and the leg support piece (2) can be of any known type. In the illustrated embodiment, three lateral joining points (12) are observed, which can be made using deformable plastic rods in the shape of hooks, combined with closed plastic loops arranged in the opposite area.

[0044] In addition, the pillow may include a multifunctional insert element (3) which, when placed on the longitudinal cavity (5), provides excellent stability to the leg, whether by its transverse or longitudinal arrangement.

[0045] On [Fig.2], it should be noted that there is a removable union element (13) placed on the rear faces of the support piece or base (1) and the support piece for the leg (2).

[0046] The nature of the present invention, as well as its implementation, have been sufficiently described. It is specified that it may, in its essence, be carried out according to other implementation methods, different in detail from that indicated by way of example, which shall also benefit from the protection sought, provided that its fundamental principle is neither altered, nor modified, nor abandoned.
