Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Modular demountable acoustic structure
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of acoustic partitions and in particular to acoustic partitions for private cinema rooms.
[0002] It is becoming increasingly common for individuals to have a room or a corner of a room dedicated to listening to music and / or watching films to recreate the conditions of a home cinema (“Home cinema” in English).
[0003] For this purpose, the room or corner of the room is equipped with acoustic devices such as an amplifier and loudspeakers as well as viewing devices such as a display screen or a video projector.
[0004] However, the configuration of the room in which these devices are placed often does not allow for optimal acoustic quality due, for example, to the presence of furniture or the absence of acoustic treatment of the walls of the room.
[0005] It is therefore necessary to find a solution to improve the acoustic quality of a room in order to recreate at home the acoustic quality of a cinema room without having to carry out major work in the home to modify the structure of the room.
[0006] To this end, the present invention relates to a modular, demountable acoustic structure comprising: - a plurality of self-supporting acoustic modules configured to be assembled together to form an acoustic enclosure, - a set of connectors configured to allow the assembly of adjacent self-supporting acoustic modules, a connector being configured to be inserted partly into a first housing of a first self-supporting acoustic module and partly into a second housing of a second self-supporting acoustic module adjacent to the first self-supporting acoustic module, the assembly being achieved by complementary shape between the connector and the first and second housings.
[0007] The use of self-supporting acoustic modules and connectors allowing assembly by complementary shape makes it possible to create a simple and quick modular acoustic structure allowing the creation of a home cinema or "home cinema" in English while also being easily demountable.
[0008] According to one aspect of the present invention, the first and second housings are made by T-shaped slots and the connectors comprise an H-shaped structure, a first side of which is configured to fit into a complementary T-shaped slot of the first self-supporting acoustic module and a second side of which is configured to fit into a complementary T-shaped slot of the second self-supporting acoustic module.
[0009] According to one aspect of the present invention, the modular, demountable acoustic structure also comprises: - a plurality of cladding panels configured to be attached to the plurality of self-supporting acoustic modules, and in which the connectors are also configured to allow the assembly of the cladding panels on the plurality of self-supporting acoustic modules.
[0010] According to one aspect of the present invention, the connectors also include at least one end piece connected to the H-structure, said end piece being configured to protrude from the T-shaped slots of the acoustic modules when the H-structure is inserted into the T-shaped slots, the cladding panels including at least one end piece complementary to the end piece of the connectors to allow the assembly of the cladding panels by snapping the end pieces and complementary end pieces together.
[0011] According to one aspect of the present invention, the connector end has a substantially cylindrical shape and the complementary end of the cladding panels includes a first and a second arm forming a clamp configured to position itself around the cylindrical end of the connector to allow the assembly of the cladding panel onto the self-supporting acoustic module.
[0012] According to one aspect of the present invention, the, at least one, end of the connector is removable from the H-structure.
[0013] According to one aspect of the present invention, the connector comprises a first end piece configured to be positioned on a first side of the connector associated with the first self-supporting acoustic module and a second end piece configured to be positioned on a second side of the connector associated with the second self-supporting acoustic module.
[0014] According to one aspect of the present invention, the modular, demountable acoustic structure also comprises: - an adjustable peripheral threshold configured to receive the self-supporting acoustic modules, said adjustable peripheral threshold being configured to allow height adjustment to smooth out irregularities in the ground on which the modular demountable acoustic structure is placed.
[0015] According to one aspect of the present invention, the modular demountable acoustic structure also includes a ceiling configured to be attached to the self-supporting acoustic modules.
[0016] According to one aspect of the present invention, the self-supporting acoustic modules are configured to receive accessories such as loudspeakers, acoustic reflection surfaces or acoustic absorption surfaces.
[0017] According to one aspect of the present invention, the modular demountable acoustic structure also includes a platform configured to occupy part of the acoustic enclosure and to accommodate seating.
[0018] According to one aspect of the present invention, at least some of the self-supporting acoustic modules are identical.
[0019] The present invention also relates to a method for assembling a modular, demountable acoustic structure as described above, comprising the following steps: - an adjustable peripheral threshold is placed on the intended location of the modular, demountable acoustic structure, and the horizontality of the adjustable peripheral threshold is adjusted. - the self-supporting acoustic modules are placed on the adjustable peripheral threshold, - the adjacent self-supporting acoustic modules are assembled together using connectors which fit into slots of complementary shape of the self-supporting acoustic modules.
[0020] According to one aspect of the present invention, the assembly process also comprises the following steps: - Cladding panels are attached to the self-supporting acoustic modules using connector ends and additional cladding panel ends, - A perimeter cornice is attached to the self-supporting acoustic modules, - Crossbeams are fixed to the peripheral cornice.

[0033] The following embodiments are examples. Although the description refers to one or more embodiments, this does not necessarily mean that each reference relates to the same embodiment, or that the features apply only to a single embodiment. Simple features from different embodiments can also be combined or interchanged to provide other embodiments.
[0034] The present invention relates to a modular, demountable acoustic structure for forming a private cinema room.
[0035] Figure 1 shows a partial representation of an example of an embodiment of a modular, demountable acoustic structure 1 according to the present invention. The modular, demountable structure 1 comprises a plurality of self-supporting acoustic modules 3 configured to be assembled to one another via connectors 5 (more clearly visible in Figures 3 and 4), which will be described in more detail later in this description. At least some of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 are identical, particularly in their dimensions, so that they can be mass-produced. Some of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 can be custom-made, in particular the corner self-supporting acoustic modules 3, here modules 3a, 3b, 3c, and 3d. Indeed, the corner modules 3a, 3b, 3c, and 3d allow the length and width of the modular, demountable acoustic structure 1 to be adapted to the desired dimensions, for example, the dimensions of a room. Some of the acoustic modules 3 may also include a special function, for example an access door to the modular demountable acoustic structure 1.
[0036] Some of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 may include compartments on their inner face configured to receive accessories such as loudspeakers. Some self-supporting acoustic modules 3 may also be configured to receive acoustic reflecting surfaces or acoustic absorbing surfaces.
[0037] The self-supporting acoustic modules 3 can be made of wood, for example of medium density wood fiber composite (also called "Medium Density Fireboard (MDF)" in English) and can be covered with fabric.
[0038] The modular, demountable acoustic structure 1 may also include cladding panels 23 (visible in [Fig. 5]) configured to be attached to the inner face of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3. The panels are attached 23 cladding on the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 can be done via connectors 5 which will be described in more detail later in the description.
[0039] The modular demountable acoustic structure 1 may include an adjustable peripheral threshold 7. [Fig. 6] shows a cross-sectional view of an example embodiment of such an adjustable peripheral threshold 7. The adjustable peripheral threshold 7 is configured to receive the acoustic modules 3. The adjustable peripheral threshold 7 has, for example, an inverted U-shaped structure 71 on which the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 are positioned.
[0040] The positioning of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 on the adjustable peripheral threshold 7 is, for example, ensured by trunnions 8 configured to protrude from the adjustable peripheral threshold 7 and to be inserted into complementary openings in the self-supporting acoustic modules 3. Alternatively, the trunnions 8 can be configured to protrude from the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 and to be inserted into complementary openings in the adjustable peripheral threshold 7. Yet another alternative, the trunnions 8 can be configured to be inserted into both complementary openings in the adjustable peripheral threshold 7 and in the self-supporting acoustic modules 3. Thus, the adjustable peripheral threshold 7 can include recesses in the form of pre-drilled holes and trunnions for positioning the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 one by one in the intended locations.
[0041] The adjustable peripheral threshold 7 also includes leveling means, for example adjustable inner feet 73 allowing leveling to obtain horizontality of the structure 71 intended to receive the self-supporting acoustic modules 3. The adjustable inner feet 73 are for example made by screws configured to be screwed into a bore of the structure 71.
[0042] The adjustable peripheral threshold 7 therefore makes it possible to provide a horizontal reception surface for the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 in order to facilitate their assembly.
[0043] In addition, the adjustable peripheral threshold 7 allows the self-supporting acoustic modules to be raised so that lighting devices 31 such as light-emitting diodes can be arranged under the self-supporting acoustic modules 3. These lighting devices 31 make it possible, for example, to modify the lighting atmosphere inside the modular demountable acoustic structure 1.
[0044] Thus, thanks to the use of the adjustable perimeter threshold 7, the modular, demountable acoustic structure 1 can be installed in most, if not all, dwellings, even those with uneven floors. However, in the case of a sufficiently level floor, the presence of the adjustable perimeter threshold 7 could be optional.
[0045] The modular demountable acoustic structure 1 may also include a platform 9 configured to provide a raised surface in a portion of the modular demountable acoustic structure 1. This platform 9 may be designed to accommodate a row of seats in such a way that two rows of seats can be positioned without spectators in the first row disturbing spectators in the second row. If more than two rows of seats are required, a platform 9 with varying heights (staircase shape) may also be used.
[0046] According to a first embodiment shown in [Fig. 1], the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 (located on the platform 9) are positioned on the platform 9. In this case, the platform 9 may include trunnions for receiving the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 in a manner similar to the adjustable peripheral threshold 7. Furthermore, the platform 9 may be adjustable to allow leveling so that the receiving surface of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 is horizontal. The height of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 located on the platform 9 must be adjusted according to the height of the platform 9.
[0047] According to an alternative embodiment, the platform 9 can be arranged inside the modular demountable acoustic structure 1 so that the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 rest, for example, on the adjustable peripheral threshold 7 described previously and the platform 9 is positioned inside the adjustable peripheral threshold 7. This embodiment allows the use of a larger number of identical self-supporting acoustic modules 3.
[0048] The modular demountable acoustic structure 1 can also include a ceiling 11, part of which is visible in [Fig.7], which is positioned on the self-supporting acoustic modules 3.
[0049] The ceiling 11 includes, for example, a perimeter cornice 111 configured to be attached to the self-supporting acoustic modules 3. The self-supporting acoustic modules 3 are, for example, surmounted by a canopy 33 oriented towards the interior of the modular, demountable acoustic structure 1, as shown in [Fig. 8]. The perimeter cornice 111 has, for example, an L-shaped cross-section, either straight or inverted. The perimeter cornice 111 can be attached to the canopy 33 of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 using metric screws 11. The perimeter cornice 111 is, for example, made of wood, for example, the same material as the self-supporting acoustic modules 3.
[0050] The ceiling 11 also includes crossbeams 113a, 113b, for example made of wood, configured to be positioned on the peripheral cornice 111. According to the embodiment shown in [Fig. 7], the first crossbeams 113a are configured to be arranged in the width of the modular demountable acoustic structure 1, These first crossbeams 113a are fixed directly to the peripheral cornice 111, for example via quarter-turn screws 115 as shown in [Fig. 9]. The first crossbeams 113a are, for example, spaced 60 cm apart. Second crossbeams 113b are, for example, placed between the first crossbeams 113a. The second crossbeams 113b are, for example, spaced 60 cm apart and can be offset from one row to the next.
[0051] The peripheral cornice 111 may also include recesses 117 configured to receive plastic strips for holding a tensioned fabric (not shown). The tensioned fabric makes it possible to conceal the cross members 115a, 115b as well as any optical fibers that can be used to create a visual ambiance such as a starry sky in the modular demountable acoustic structure 1 or to conceal the passage of cables, such as power cables for any loudspeakers, projector or LED strips.
[0052] The ceiling 11 may also include a housing 119 configured to receive a projector. The housing 119 includes, for example, an opening system based on Blum-type hinges. The housing 119 may also include a retaining strut for safety. The housing 119 may include electrical and network outlets to allow connection of the projector. The housing 119 may be configured so that the projector is flush with the stretched fabric of the ceiling 11 (the support rods for the stretched fabric may be arranged around the housing 119). The projector is configured to project images, including video, onto a screen located in the modular, demountable acoustic structure 1. The screen is, for example, a removable screen that can be unrolled from the ceiling 11.
[0053] The modular, demountable acoustic structure 1 also includes connectors 5 configured for assembling the various self-supporting acoustic modules 3. Two adjacent self-supporting acoustic modules 3 are joined together by at least one connector 5. In the example shown in Figures 1 and 2, five connectors 5 are used to assemble two adjacent self-supporting acoustic modules 3, but a different number of connectors 5 may also be used. The connectors 5 are distributed along the height of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3.
[0054] Figures 3 to 5 illustrate an embodiment of a connector 5 according to an embodiment of the present invention. In this example, the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 comprise T-shaped slots 31. The T-shape is rotated 90° so that the base of the T is oriented towards a slice of the self-supporting acoustic module 3, i.e., towards the adjacent self-supporting acoustic module 3 when the two self-supporting acoustic modules 3 are positioned side-by-side. In this position, the two T-shaped slots of the two adjacent self-supporting acoustic modules are aligned with each other. The connector 5 comprises a structure whose cross-section has a general H-shape 50 complementary to the T-shapes of the slots 31 of the two adjacent self-supporting acoustic modules 3. Thus, inserting the H-shaped structure of connector 5 into the T-shaped slots 31 allows the two adjacent self-supporting acoustic modules 3 to be joined together by complementary shape, as shown in [Fig. 4]. Other shapes (besides the T-shapes of the slots 31 and the H-shape of connector 5) that allow assembly by complementary shape can also be used. The H-shaped structure 50 may have rounded edges on one side to facilitate its insertion into the T-shaped slots 31.
[0055] Furthermore, in the case where the modular demountable acoustic structure 1 includes cladding panels 23 (visible in [Fig.5]), the connector 5 may include one or more end pieces 51 connected to the H-shaped structure and configured to protrude from the T-shaped slots 31 of the acoustic modules 3 when the H-shaped structure 50 is inserted into the T-shaped slots 31.
[0056] In the example of figures 3 to 5, the connector 5 comprises two tips 51 which are removable tips of the H-shaped structure 50 so that the same type of connector 5 can be used with or without trim panels 23.
[0057] The end pieces 51 are, for example, inserted into a lateral slot of the H-shaped structure 50 as shown in [Fig. 3]. The portion of the H-shaped structure 50 comprising the lateral slot(s) is at least partially inserted into the T-shaped slots 31 of the acoustic modules 3, which allows the end pieces 51 to be held in position within the T-shaped slots 31 of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3. The end pieces 51 are configured to protrude from the T-shaped slots 31 when the connector 5 is inserted into the T-shaped slots 31.
[0058] In addition, the cladding panels 23 include a complementary end piece 231 of an end piece 51 of the connectors 5 to allow the assembly of the cladding panels 23 by snapping between the end piece 51 and the complementary end piece 231.
[0059] In the example of figures 3 to 5, the end piece 51 has a cylindrical shape protruding from the T-shaped slots 31 of the acoustic modules 5 when the H-shaped structure 50 is inserted into the T-shaped slots 31.
[0060] As shown in [Fig. 5], the additional end piece 231 of the cladding panels 23 comprises a first and a second arm. The first and second arms each have a concave portion arranged opposite each other. The two arms thus form a clamp whose concave portions are configured to position themselves around the cylindrical end piece 51 of the connector 5 to allow the assembly of the cladding panel 23 onto the acoustic module 3. The first and second arms are, for example, configured to deform elastically to allow the cylindrical end piece to be inserted between the two arms of the complementary end piece. Other shapes of end pieces 51 and complementary end pieces 231 allowing the cladding panels 23 to be snapped onto the acoustic modules 5 are also possible.
[0061] Thus, the connectors 5 allow for easy assembly of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 together without requiring any special tools. Furthermore, a single type of connector 5 can be used to assemble all the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 of the modular, demountable acoustic structure 1.
[0062] The connectors 5 also allow easy dismantling of the modular acoustic structure 1 since they can be easily removed from the T-shaped slots of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3.
[0063] The first end piece 51 of the connector 5 is arranged on a first side of the connector 5 and is associated with a first self-supporting acoustic module 3 to allow the assembly of the covering panel 23 associated with this first self-supporting acoustic module 3 and the second end piece 51 of the connector 5 is arranged on a second side of the connector 5 opposite to the first side and is associated with a second self-supporting acoustic module 3 adjacent to the first self-supporting acoustic module 3 to allow the assembly of the covering panel 23 associated with this second self-supporting acoustic module 3. It is also possible to use only one of the two end pieces if only one of the first and second self-supporting acoustic modules has an associated covering panel 23.
[0064] Thus, the use of self-supporting acoustic modules 3, some of which are identical, and identical connectors 5 makes it possible to reduce the manufacturing costs of the modular demountable acoustic structure 1.
[0065] Furthermore, the use of connectors 5 allowing assembly of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 by complementary shape and fixing of the cladding panels 23 by snap-fit allows simple and quick assembly of the modular demountable acoustic structure 1 and thus makes it possible to provide an acoustic enclosure such as a private cinema room in a short time and with simple manipulations requiring neither special tools nor special skills.
[0066] The present invention also relates to a method of assembling a modular demountable acoustic structure 1.
[0067] Figure 10 is a flowchart representing the different stages of the assembly process. Some stages of the process may be optional and the order of the stages may also differ from the order shown.
[0068] The first step 101 concerns the installation of an adjustable peripheral threshold 7 on the periphery of the intended location of the demountable modular acoustic structure 1.
[0069] The second step 102 concerns the adjustment of the horizontality of the adjustable peripheral threshold 7. The adjustment is carried out for example by screwing or unscrewing adjustable feet 73 of the peripheral threshold 7.
[0070] The third step 103 concerns the installation of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 on the adjustable peripheral threshold 7 (or directly on the floor if it is horizontal). The installation can be carried out by starting with the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 located in the corners of the modular demountable acoustic structure 1, and then the adjacent self-supporting acoustic modules 3 are added one after the other.
[0071] The fourth step 104 relates to the assembly of the adjacent self-supporting acoustic modules 3 using the connectors 5 which are inserted into the slots 31 of complementary shape of the self-supporting acoustic modules 3. This step can be carried out simultaneously with step 103, the connectors 5 being arranged in the slots 31 of complementary shape when the adjacent acoustic modules 3 are arranged next to each other.
[0072] The fifth step 105 relates to the fixing of the cladding panels 23 on the self-supporting acoustic modules 3 via the tips 51 of the connectors 5 and the complementary tips 231 of the cladding panels 23.
[0073] The sixth step 106 relates to the fixing of the peripheral cornice 111 on the self-supporting acoustic modules 3.
[0074] The seventh step 107 concerns the fixing of the crossbeams 113a, 113b to the peripheral cornice to form the ceiling 11. The first crossbeams 113a are, for example, fixed first directly to the cornice 111 and the second crossbeams 113b are fixed to the first crossbeams 113a. The fixing can be done by quarter-turn screws or metric screws or any other fixing device known to a person skilled in the art.
[0075] Thus, the assembly method, through the use of connectors 5 with a shape complementary to the slots 31 of the acoustic modules 3, allows for easy assembly of the acoustic modules 3 with each other. Since the acoustic modules 3 are self-supporting, the modular acoustic structure 1 does not require any additional support or device to hold the acoustic modules 3, so the modular acoustic structure 1 can be easily assembled and disassembled quickly without requiring any tools or special skills.
