Abstract

Tool Positioning Aid Device The present invention relates to a tool positioning aid device (100) for use on at least one object of interest, the tool being carried by an articulated arm. The positioning aid device comprises at least one housing (101) containing at least one distance sensor (120) configured to detect at least one object of interest and to measure a first distance between the distance sensor and the object of interest, and a processing unit in communication with the distance sensor (120). The processing unit is configured to determine, from the first distance and a known geometric relationship between the distance sensor and the tool, a second distance between an active portion of the tool and the object of interest.
