Abstract

FUEL CELL AND ELECTRIC GENERATOR COMPRISING SUCH A FUEL CELL A fuel cell comprises a proton exchange membrane (1) covered by a nanostructured anodic electrode (2) and a nanostructured cathodic electrode (3). An anodic current collector (4) and a cathodic current collector (5) are in contact with the anodic electrode (2) and the cathodic electrode (3), respectively. The current collectors are porous and electrically and thermally conductive. The current collectors define a portion of the feed channels that connect the cathodic electrode to an oxygen source and the anodic electrode to a hydrogen source. The anodic electrode (2) is fixedly mounted to the cathodic current collector (5). The cathodic current collector introduces a pressure drop such that the flow rate in the oxygen feed channel is at least five times greater than the flow rate in the cathodic electrode (3).
