Description

The present disclosure relates to a box, particularly, but not exclusively, to a box suitable for use as secondary packaging. Some consumer products such as cosmetics, beauty and wellness products are typically delivered to consumers in primary packaging and secondary packaging. The primary packaging is typically a tube, jar or bottle, in which the product itself is contained. The secondary packaging is typically a box housing the product in its primary packaging. The secondary packaging may help to protect the product, e.g. during storage and / or delivery, and / or may help to present the product to a consumer. If a consumer has ordered a product online, then the secondary packaging may contribute to the consumer forming an initial impression regarding the product, e.g. regarding the product’s quality and / or value. Accordingly, outer surfaces of secondary packaging for products such as cosmetics, beauty and wellness products may typically carry some product branding and / or information. A first aspect provides a box having a lid and an internal storage chamber for housing an item, wherein the box has: an assembled, closed configuration, in which the lid prevents access to the internal storage chamber; an assembled, open configuration, in which the internal storage chamber is accessible; and a disassembled configuration, in which the box is opened up such that there is no internal storage chamber for housing the item; wherein the box has at least one panel adapted to facilitate a user in manually moving the panel in such a way as to initiate or facilitate the opening up of the box from the assembled, open configuration to the disassembled configuration. The panel(s) adapted to facilitate a user in manually moving the panel in such a way as to initiate or facilitate the opening up of the box from the assembled, open configuration to the disassembled configuration may be accessible when the box is in the assembled, open configuration and may not be accessible when the box is in the assembled, closed configuration. In the assembled, closed configuration, no parts of the box may be fastened together by any fastening means such as glue or staples. The box may be reversibly and repeatably manually reconfigured from the assembled, closed configuration to the assembled, open configuration and, further, to the disassembled configuration and back again. The box may contain any number of panels adapted to facilitate a user in manually moving the panel in such a way as to initiate or facilitate the opening up of the box from the assembled, open configuration to the disassembled configuration. The panel(s) may be adapted to facilitate a user in manually moving the panel in such a way as to initiate or facilitate the opening up of the box from the assembled, open configuration to the disassembled configuration in any suitable way, e.g. by one or more cut-outs. The panel(s) adapted to facilitate a user in manually moving the panel in such a way as to initiate or facilitate the opening up of the box from the assembled, open configuration to the disassembled configuration may be one or more inner panels, e.g. inner base panels, which lie adjacent an outer panel, e.g. an outer base panel, when the box is in the assembled, closed configuration and / or the assembled, open configuration. The one or more inner panels may cover at least 50% of the outer panel. The box may carry information thereon, which is concealed when the box is in the assembled, closed configuration and the assembled, open configuration and is revealed when the box is in the disassembled configuration. The box may comprise a sheet material. The sheet material may be a cellulosic material such as cardboard or card. The box may be suitable for use as secondary packaging, e.g. of a consumer product. One or more tamper-proof securing means may be employed to ensure that the box cannot be opened for the first time without breaking the securing means. A second aspect provides a net configured to be assembled into a box according to the first aspect. The net may be made from a single piece of sheet material. A third aspect provides a package comprising a box according to a first aspect and an item housed within the box. One or more tamper-proof securing means may be employed to ensure that the box cannot be opened for the first time without breaking the securing means. The item may be a product, e.g. in primary packaging such as a tube, ajar or a bottle. The product may be a consumer product, e.g. a cosmetics, beauty or wellness product or a food and drink product. Except where mutually exclusive, any of the features of any of the above described aspects may be employed mutatis mutandis in any of the other above described aspects.
