AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional cabinets lack water-resistant features, making them susceptible to water damage and unsuitable for outdoor use, as they allow water to seep in through gaps between doors.

Method used

The cabinet design incorporates beveled edges on the doors that slope in opposite directions, creating a tight seal when closed, and a raised lip on the bottom panel to prevent water entry, with the beveled edges aligning to form a barrier against water ingress.

Benefits of technology

The design effectively prevents water from entering the cabinet, ensuring the contents remain dry and protected from environmental moisture, making it suitable for outdoor placement.

Abstract

A cabinet 1 with water resistant features comprising a top panel 4, two side panels 6, a back panel 8, two doors 2,3 with bevelled edges (10,11; Figure 2), and a bottom panel 5 with a raised lip 9. The bevel slopes are opposite and are meant to match up to provide a barrier preventing water from entering the cabinet when the doors are closed. The doors can act as a flat panel when closed to provide extra rigidity stability and support to the cabinet. The cabinet can be in one or multiple tiers.

Description

TECHINICAL FIELD The present invention relates to cabinet designed with water resistant features. BACKGROUND ART A typical cabinet comprises of a top panel, back panel, two side panels and cabinet doors. A cabinet is generally used for storage and organization purposes. It normally comprises of a rectangular or square-shaped box with one or more doors that provide access to the interior compartments. They can be used in homes, offices, schools, retail stores, and other places where storage is required. Cabinet can protect our items from damage, dust, and other environmental factors. Most cabinets that available in the market are not designed to be water-resistant and do not have any special features to prevent water from seeping into the cabinet. Example of such cabinet is shown as Figure 5 and Figure 6. Water can seep into the cabinet through the wide slit between the doors easily. Without any special design to prevent water penetration, typical cabinet are vulnerable to water damage. They are not suitable to be placed outdoor as the items inside the cabinet could get wet after a rain. Therefore, a cabinet with water resistant features is crucial to keep our belongings safe and secure especially when being placed outdoor. A present invention is introduced to overcome the aforementioned problems. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a cabinet with water resistant features. The cabinet doors are designed with the beveled edges at the closing area, rather than a straight or squared-off edge. Besides, the bevel slopes in opposite direction, making the pair of doors to be corresponded with each other. When two doors are closed together, the corresponded frames meet and overlap each other, creating a tight seal to the door. The beveled edges create a barrier that prevents water from seeping into the cabinet through the meeting edge. This design allows water to run off the door and discharge from the outside of the cabinet, keeping the contents inside protected. Other than that, the cabinet is provided with a raised lip positioned at the bottom panel, extending beyond the surface to block water from entering. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In order to allow the present invention to be readily understood, the following description is given, by way of example, of specific embodiments of cabinet doors in accordance with the present invention. The brief descriptions of the drawings are:- Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a cabinet in an opened position. Figure 2 shows a top view of the door in a partially closed position. Figure 3 shows a top cross sectional view of the door in a closed position. Figure 4 shows a front view of a cabinet in a closed position. Figure 5 and 6 show examples of typical cabinet that available in the market. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS With reference to Figure 1, the cabinet (1) with present invention comprises two doors (2), (3), a top panel (4), a bottom panel (5), two side panels (6) and a back panel (7). A raised lip (8) is positioned at the bottom panel (5), extending upward from the surface, and acting as a barrier against water to seep into the cabinet easily. As shown in Figure 2 and 3, the doors (2) (3) have a sloping edge (9) (10) at the closing area instead of a straight or squared-off edge. The slope angles on the left (2) and right doors (3) are opposite, making the doors to be corresponded. When the doors meet in the middle, the beveled edges (9) (10) align smoothly as shown in Figure 3. The beveled edges (9) (10) of the doors are designed to match up when the doors are closed, creating a seamless appearance. When the doors (2) (3) are opened, the opposite slopes of the beveled edges (9) (10) may be visible. When closed, the doors align perfectly, creating a tight seal (11) to prevent water getting into the cabinet through the door frame as shown in Figure 4.
