A back bar refrigerator appliance

Abstract

A refrigerator comprises a storage compartment and a door 200 having an inner surface (205, fig 3) facing into the compartment when the door is closed and an opposite outer surface 201. The door comprises an insulated panel and a window 202 covering less than 75% of the outer surface of the door. The window is aligned with a shelf of the refrigerator appliance providing visual access to items 203 (bottles / cans etc…) positioned on the shelf. The window may cover less than 50% or 25% of the door outer surface. The insulated panel comprises a rigid polyurethane foam or polyisocyanurate foam within an outer casing of stainless steel or aluminium sheet. The window comprises partially transparent glass or composite material. A light source illuminates refrigerator contents through the window and may be an LED and / or a light guide attached to the door or disposed at a window edge 204. The shelf may be removably attached / integral to the inner surface of the door and aligned with the window and may be the same width as the window. The refrigerator may comprise a plurality of doors with one or more doors comprising the window (fig 5).
