Map data structure, map processing device and method of processing a map

Abstract

A map data structure includes an asset database storing object characteristics and object representation layers. Each object representation layer of the object representation layers 212-222 is associated with a corresponding object category, such as events, robots, traffic rules, dynamic objects, static objects and floor plan. Each object representation layer stores pose of at least one object of the corresponding object category. The at least one object is associated with one or more object characteristic of the object characteristics stored in the asset database. The object characteristics may relate to shape, size, texture, colour, symbols and various visual aspects of the objects in the object representation layers. The pose of the object may be stored as a co-ordinate point. A map processing device, method of processing a map, vehicle and fleet management system are also provided.
