A pillowcase sleeve

Abstract

A pillowcase sleeve 2 that aids in preventing pillows from moving when a bed / mattress is angled upwards, such as in a hospital or care home. The sleeve is formed from a washable fabric and has a case portion suitable for receiving a pillow 1, the case portion having an opening at each end, and a sleeve portion which is dimensioned and arranged to fit around a headboard of a bed or an end portion of a mattress. The sleeve portion may include an elasticated opening. Said open end may have a closure means which may be provided by hook and eye attachment means, buttons & buttonholes, or press buttons. Rigid inserts may be provided to strengthen one side of the sleeve, said inserts being received in pockets to aid laundering of the sleeve. The fabric sleeve may be formed from cotton, silk, canvas or synthetic plastics material, where said fabric may be fire retardant. The sleeve may comprise a physiological sensor such as a movement, pulse or temperature sensor. The sensor may include a transmitter operative to transmit signals to a monitoring sensor for recording and monitoring a patient’s vital signs.
