Abstract
Claims
1. A portable storage system which affords direct undisruptive access to every item in a collection of tools, by sub-dividing it into function based family groups that then are laid in shallow easily accessed layers, each sub-group segregated from the others in its own compartment within one of the system’s range of containers, which are capable of being variously partitioned to provide individually customised compartments, their dimensions also being coordinated to allow the three sizes of container to be securely stacked together to form a conveniently portable single unit, within which each container may be nested into the one below it, up to the point where it is retained just clear of the contents of the part-filled one underneath it, thereby eliminating any waste of space in the vertical dimension, while also enabling the user to gain direct access to the contents of any container, by lifting off the block of other containers stacked above it.
2. A portable tools storage system as claimed in Claim 1, which enables its inward tapered carrier containers to be Stack Nested one above another, at a clearance margin adjusted to match the height of the contents of the lower one, by means of interconnecting Support Tubes 7 inserted into Plug Sockets 5 in the four corners of each vertically adjacent container - these Support Tubes 7 having been cut to the length required to keep them apart by the distance needed to fulfil this purpose.
3. A portable storage system as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, which enables its range of several sizes of Carrier Container 1, 2 &3 to be stacked together to form one conveniently portable unit, on account of their lateral dimensions being coordinated as follows: A pair of Short Containers 3 maybe stacked side-by-side across the width of a Medium Length Container 2; and similarly a pair of Medium Containers 2 may be stacked across a Long Length Container 1.
4. A portable tools storage system as claimed in Claims 1, 2 &3, which enables its containers to be sub-divided into customised compartments, the Partition Walls 8 of which are held in place by double-flanged Attachment Brackets 10, snap-fastened to the sides by being posted through Slots 9, moulded into them at modular intervals.
5. A portable tools storage system as claimed in Claim 4, whereby its containers may be sub-divided into multiple compartments of various sizes, by Partitions 8 which span it either longways or laterally, or which may be tailored to butt up at right angles to each other, and fastened together by means of T- or L- profiled Partition Clips 11.
6. A portable tools storage system as claimed in Claims 4 &5, whereby its carrier Containers 1, 2 &3 may be sub-divided into compartments by Partitions 8 which are horizontally grooved to enable their being scissor-cut to a height conforming to the clearance margin between its contents and the base of the container Stack Nested above it; and grooved vertically at modular intervals to guide their being cut to length.
7. A portable storage system which may be applied, not only to a collection of tools, but also to an unlimited number of other such generically related articles.
8. A portable tools storage system substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1 to 6 of the accompanying drawings.
