Abstract

An apparatus for delivering an aerosol that simulates the products of combustion to test the smoke detector circuits of a fire alarm. The apparatus is a cylindrical tube with a change of internal diameter that increases from the first end to a maximum diameter between the first and second ends. The first end has lugs 9 holding an aerosol canister, the second end 1b has a hinged diffusing closure (4, Fig. 3), 5 to safely contain the aerosol canister when not in the testing mode. The first end may allow the cannister to be reversibly snap fitted over the valve of the cannister so that the aerosol is ejected along the cylinder towards the second end when triggered. There may be a portal 3 at the first end of the apparatus that allows finger access to the aerosol trigger.
