999 results about "Aerosol spray" patented technology

Aerosol spray is a type of dispensing system which creates an aerosol mist of liquid particles. It is used with a can or bottle that contains a payload and propellant under pressure. When the container's valve is opened, the payload is forced out of a small hole and emerges as an aerosol or mist. As propellant expands to drive out the payload, only some propellant evaporates inside the can to maintain a constant pressure. Outside the can, the droplets of propellant evaporate rapidly, leaving the payload suspended as very fine particles or droplets.

A pressure-liquefied propellant mixture for aerosols, comprising a fluorinated alkane, in particular 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane and / or 1,1,1,2,3,3,3-heptafluoropropane, and carbon dioxide, makes possible an improvement of the wetting properties of pharmaceutically active compounds, with which the formulation problems existing with hydrofluoroalkanes in relation to suspension as well as solution aerosols can be overcome and thus improved medicinal aerosol formulations can be obtained. With the aid of carbon dioxide, it is also possible to specifically influence the pressure and thus the particle size distribution and also by displacement of oxygen from the hydrofluoroalkanes to improve the storage stability of oxidation-sensitive active compounds.

Aerosol created by directed flow of fluids and devices and methods for producing same

A method of creating small particles by a technology referred to here as “violent focusing” is disclosed, along with devices for generating such violent focusing. In general, the method comprises the steps of forcing a first fluid out of an exit opening of the feeding channel to create a fluid stream. The exit opening is positioned such that the fluid flowing out of the channel flows toward and out of an exit orifice of a pressure chamber which surrounds the exit opening of the feeding channel, and is filled with an atomizing fluid. An atomizing fluid such as a gas is directed towards the first fluid stream in approximately orthogonal directions and surrounding the circumference of the first fluid stream from all sides. The first fluid flow is broken into particles which have dimensions which are smaller than the dimensions of this fluid stream.

An aerosol spray gun used selectively in two spraying modes of small and large patterns is provided. The aerosol spray gun has a throttle valve, an air duct, and a coupling link. The throttle valve has an internal air duct for supplying pressurized air to a patterning air outlet which shapes a paint spraying stream jetted out from the aerosol spray gun, and has a movable valve element to which a compressed spring applies force to open the valve. The air duct created at the tip of the movable valve element supplies a small volume of air from the internal air duct to the patterning air outlet while the movable valve element seats on a valve seat. The coupling link, coupling the movable valve element to the trigger, has an elongated hole to disconnect the trigger from the movable valve element without cooperative relation between them from an initial stage where an operator begins to squeeze the trigger to an intermediate stage before the operator fully squeezes the trigger.

Inhalation therapy apparatus

An inhalation therapy device includes a collapsible aerosol storage bag (7) having an opening which connects to the end of a dual port member, one port (8) of which is in fluid communication with a nebulizer. During patient exhalation the aerosol storage bag becomes partially inflated with exhaled gas during the first part of exhalation. The laminar coherent aerosol jet exits the dual port member and remains coherent until reaching the end of the aerosol storage bag, at which time it diverges and expels all exhaled gas from the aerosol storage bag, thus filling the aerosol storage bag with aerosol. All escaping gas exits the aerosol storage bag via the remaining port (9) of the dual port member, where it escapes into the ambient environment through the ambient port. The remaining dual port of the dual port member, in addition to providing means for escaping gas from the aerosol storage bag, is also in fluid communication with the ambient port and the mouthpiece (1). Upon inhalation, the patient inhales the aerosol within the aerosol storage bag, the aerosol produced by the nebulizer during inhalation, and ambient air through the ambient port. The cycle is than repeated indefinitely.

Sample Transferring Apparatus for Mass Cytometry

In a mass cytometer or mass spectrometer, a sample of elemental tagged particles is transferred from a dispersion to a gas flow through a carrier aerosol spray for atomization and ionization by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) source. The configuration of the sample transfer apparatus allow for total consumption of the sample by passing the sample spray through a deceleration stage to decelerate the spray of particles from its high velocity expansion. Following the deceleration stage, the decelerated sample of particles can be accelerated and focused through an acceleration stage for transferring into the ICP. This effectively improves the particle transfer between the sample spray and the ICP.
