Abstract

There is disclosed an optical device stack comprising, 130, a liquid crystal, LC, layer, 106, 204, positioned between a wave plate, 150, 202, and an electrode layer, 104, 206. The optical stack is folded such that a first portion of the wave plate, 150, is parallel to a second portion of the wave plate, 202. The wave plate may be a quarter wave plate and in combination the parallel portions form a half wave plate. A first portion of the LC layer, 106, may be parallel to a second portion of the LC layer, 204, with the first and second portions of the LC layer defining first and second LC cells. A first portion of the electrode layer, 104, may be parallel to a second portion of the electrode layer, 206, with the first and second portions of the electrode layer respectively being associated with the first and second portions of the LC layer.
