Abstract

There is disclosed an optical device stack comprising, 130, a liquid crystal, LC, layer, 106, 204, positioned between a wave plate, 150, 202, and an electrode layer, 104, 206. The optical stack is folded such that a first portion of the wave plate, 150, is parallel to a second portion of the wave plate, 202. The wave plate may be a quarter wave plate and in combination the parallel portions form a half wave plate. A first portion of the LC layer, 106, may be parallel to a second portion of the LC layer, 204, with the first and second portions of the LC layer defining first and second LC cells. A first portion of the electrode layer, 104, may be parallel to a second portion of the electrode layer, 206, with the first and second portions of the electrode layer respectively being associated with the first and second portions of the LC layer. Also disclosed are associated methods of controlling a LC layer within the optical device stack and method of manufacturing the optical device stack. Figure 7(b)
