Abstract

A material recovery system 2 for recycling mixed household-waste 4, comprising a processing facility 3 to sort the waste into recyclate glass 10, metal 12, plastic 14, and fibre 16 streams. The processing facility includes at least one of each of a shredder station 124, bag opening station 127, magnet station 139, optical sorter, wind-shifter station 136, ECS (eddy current separator) station 140, disc-screen station 142, disc-screen 2D / 3D separation station 90, glass-breaker station 94, V-screen 2D / 3D separation station 102, and NIR (near infrared) optical sorter station 60.
