Abstract

A device 100 for removing contaminant from a fluid, with housing portions (102, fig. 1), (104, fig. 1), (106, fig. 1), defining an inlet, flow path, and outlet. An active flow element and a passive removal element are comprised within the housing. Optionally, the contaminant is water, the fluid is gas, and the passive removal element comprises a hygroscopic material, for example a bead, gel layer, powder, sheet, deliquescent, and / or molecular sieve. Optionally, one or more passive removal elements are held in a container, like removable drawer 112, and may comprise a visual indicator for saturation level. The active flow element may comprise one or more fans 118 and 120, proximal to the inlet and outlet respectively. A controller may control the flow rate of the active flow element based on information from one or more of a humidity, temperature, noise, moisture, optical, gas, and / or fluid flow rate sensor.
