ENHANCED SAP REMOVAL PROCESS

Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for reducing phosphorus content in an oil feedstock, the process comprising the steps of: a. providing an oil feedstock; b. treating the oil feedstock with an acid; c. contacting the reaction mixture of step b) in the presence of one or more phospholipases under conditions that permit enzymatic hydrolysis of phospholipids in the oil feedstock; and d. separating the reaction mixture from step c), wherein the acid treatment and enzymatic hydrolysis are carried out in the same tank / vessel.
