Abstract
This invention concerns the process of making antibacterial solid soap by adding bagasse activated carbon using the hot process method. The process includes heating vegetable oil to approximately 70°C, adding 15% NaOH solution to initiate the saponification reaction, adding a mixture of glycerin, sugar, and surfactant that has been dissolved in hot water, and stirring at a speed of approximately 120 rpm. Next, 96% ethanol is added at ±20% until the mixture becomes transparent, then cooled to a temperature of 40–55°C before adding bagasse activated carbon in a concentration of 1–3% by weight of the total soap. The activated carbon has a water content of ≤10%, ash content of ≤10%, and a methylene blue adsorption capacity of 400–500 mg / g. The mixture is molded and left for ±24 hours to obtain a solid soap with a homogeneous distribution of activated carbon, good physical stability, and strong antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
