Abstract

This invention relates to a method for producing Gambir Black Cube from isolated gambir Uncaria gambir (Hunter) Roxb. using microwave heating. The resulting product has a total tannin content of 90.755%, a catechin content of 70.86%, very strong antioxidant activity with IC50 of 2.69 µg / mL µg / mL), a water content of 6.26% ± 0.31, and an ash content of 3.30%. Gambir Black Cube has the potential to be used as an active ingredient in pharmaceutical preparations, functional foods, and cosmetics.
