Abstract
This invention concerns the field of biomedical instrumentation, specifically a smart infusion system called InfuCare that is capable of monitoring and controlling infusion fluids automatically and in real-time based on the Internet of Things (IoT). This system consists of a weight sensor (load cell) connected to a signal amplifier module to continuously measure the volume of infusion fluid, as well as an infrared sensor to detect and calculate the infusion drip rate. Data from both sensors is processed by a microcontroller that compares the measurement results to predetermined minimum volume and maximum drip rate thresholds. If an abnormal condition is detected, such as low fluid volume or excessive drip rate (over infusion), the system will activate an alarm, display a warning on the local screen, and drive a servo motor equipped with a clamping mechanism to automatically close the infusion tube. The system also transmits all monitoring data via a wireless communication module to an internet-based application, allowing for remote monitoring of the infusion status. This invention allows for automated safety measures, shortens response times, and minimizes the risk of complications from infusion errors.
