Abstract

The present article is a stud that is attached to a metallic member to be welded, such as a steel plate, by resistance welding. More specifically, the stud is held by the inner electrode of a coaxial electrode having an inner electrode and an outer electrode arranged coaxially, and is fused and bonded to the member to be welded by Joule heat generated at a welding point of the member to be welded by supplying an electric current between the stud and the member to be welded while being pressed in a state of contact with the tip of the inner electrode. The present article has a main body that is cylindrical in shape, and a flange that extends in a direction perpendicular to the central axis of the main body is formed at one end of the main body that is welded to the member to be welded. The flange is formed to a minimum size that can engage the tip of the inner electrode. In addition, a concave groove is formed in the center of the end of the one end of the main body, and three convex projections are formed on the peripheral portion outside the center.
